"watching Stephen Miller freak out made me so happy" — Ms. Spouse

nkrempa's avatar

My hubby, former Republican, laughed, then said he wished Dems would pick Buttigieg for VP. Not for the 'tweak the normies' fun, though. He really likes Mayor Pete. :D

Teri's avatar

I hope to see POTUS Pete in my lifetime. But a Bi-Racial woman with a happily married gay man. For now, VP needs a strong, major swing state man.

Tardigret's avatar

He's going, he'll have his time, and I look forward to it

Bill Lawrence's avatar

Mayor Pete is like a fresh breeze on a hot day, but he needs to run for Congress to get some bona fides before taking another step.

Deb's avatar

I'd love to see him go back to Indiana and run for one of those Senate seats, both held by Reputhuglicans I've never heard of. One of those seats should be coming up for election sometime in the next few years.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

Indiana was Blue at times when I lived there years ago. Now it's Red and more Red. Not a good idea for him for 2 reasons- being a Dem and being gay.

Deb's avatar

I'm dreaming, I guess!

Bill Lawrence's avatar

Indiana can be a hard nut to crack for a gay Democrat.

Deb's avatar

Absolutely, I know it…but maybe as a former South Bend mayor and a “star” on FOX, who knows?

There were some decent Democratic Senators and Governors back in the pre-Reagan era, and Republican Senator Richard Lugar wasn’t a flaming asshole!

Mwfeiger's avatar

No, if not V.P., I see Sec. Pete B. as Harris' Secretary of State.

Doc Blase''s avatar

The Governor of Pennsylvania with 19 electoral votes and his history of just beating a MAGA, for example.

Pete was my choice in 2020 too. There's a time a-comin for him. Rising star.

Stephanie Lajeskie's avatar

I totally agree! It’s not about ego we want. It’s about who can WIN!

Karla's avatar

💯. This isn’t the election we can afford to take any chances with.

Stephen Brady's avatar

Supposedly he has a relatively high approval rating among Fox viewers. I like it that he has gone into the fire many times and comes out having slain their pundits. He is also the most competent cabinet member Joe has.

Teri's avatar

Pete earned the nickname "Slayer Pete" 🏆 for badly embarrassing Fox interviewers. But always respectfully, with a super calm demeanor. Fox is so F'ing stupid to keep booking him! He makes them look dumb as a box of rocks. But he's Sooooo nice about it!!!

Stephen Brady's avatar

I’ve seen clips of him in action. He is so pleasant and patient while he cuts them to ribbons!

Bill Lawrence's avatar

Certainly the most effortlessly articulate.

arne link's avatar

Mayor Pete is great. Sadly, we cannot have a woman and a gay on the same ticket. we're not there yet. He will get a bigger role in the admin.

Donatella Dillon's avatar

Unfortunately too many Americans need to accept a Woman and Black at that, Obama was a shock for many, imagine a Woman! And I Love Pete! Too big of a step both together, I wish! They would be awesome 💙

Susan Burgess's avatar

Most of the bigots are Trump voters.

Teri's avatar

It's a shame, but we HAVE to WIN. I agree with Arne. Big Pete fan. 2028?

Barbara's avatar

Pete is 42. He has many years ahead of him to be President. 2032 gives Kamala 8 years as president.

KL Pierce's avatar

We’re not there because people like you keep saying it.

Susan Burgess's avatar

Yes KL, when I tried to please everybody by imagining what I thought they wanted, I ended up pleasing nobody. Lesson learned and not repeated.

JJR's avatar

I feel he is more needed where he is as Secretary often Transportation. He is still young enough to go for POTUS in the future

Cheryl Fleming's avatar

My first thought was that Buttigieg as Kamala's veep would be unbeatable. 💙🩵💙🩵💙

DR Darke's avatar

In this crowd? Sure.

Out there among the Trump-sucking scuttlefish in *das Großes amerikanisches Kernland*? Not this year, that's for sure!

James Starr's avatar

yeah but lets face it, the toxic magas are not gonna flip for any democrat ticket no matter who is running

DR Darke's avatar

Oh, the MAGAts are beyond help!

I was talking about the "normal people"—the ones who voted for both Obama AND Trump, and then voted for Biden in 2020 because he was the more "reasonable" choice than Donnie Diapershit. They were inclined to vote for Biden in 2024 as well (unlike the Party Elites and MSM types, along with the Billionaire Donors!)...and for now, they're keeping their options open. Trump's getting more unhinged by the day, but Harris is a Black Woman—I mean, an "unknown quantity"!

She's neither the eloquent public speaker Obama is, nor did she make much of an impression during most of her time as VP. Admittedly she's been stepping up in the past six months or so, but will that be enough to overcome mainstream voter unease over how Biden suddenly "retired"? If she retains, or better improves, her standing between now and post-Convention then I'll breathe easier, but I'm still afraid now that the Democratic Party Circular Firing Squad has come out onto the field, they're not going away until they destroy any vestigate of unity or even common sense that Democrats might have...!

Carol Sessler's avatar

Every single democrat I know instantly accepted Kamala as the pick. I think she will destroy Neo-Hitler.

Victoria Wilson's avatar

Not now.Sadly, not now.We need to be rid of the fascists first. Then changes that we want will be possible.

Mwfeiger's avatar

I sure hopes she picks Sec. Pete B. The ultimate DEI ticket! Nothing would be more appropriate, competent, and effective.

Steve's avatar

VP's (on either side) don't fair well in follow-up elections. He's better off honing his skills to take Kamala's place in 2028.

PJ Schuster's avatar

No, 2032. A President Harris should get a full 2 terms

Steve's avatar

I do like the way you think! Although the sad reality is that the festering pustule that is the current more right-leaning Republicans will likely never go away. So while that butt-boil continues to expand, at some point the general electorate will tire of the Democrats and vote in a Republican majority.... and at that point it will be game over. I hate to say it, but this is just a matter of time. :(

counterlife's avatar

I hope "they filled in circles" becomes Stephen Miller's tag line for the rest of his miserable life.

That was one delicious freak-out whine, and he sounded a bit shrill I think.

SPW's avatar

I loved it as well. Jeff’s meme with the pacifier is a great one for Miller.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

I still think they should check his hard drive and crawl-space, he's got that "serial killer" vibe.

PJ Schuster's avatar

I agree, wonder if any of his neighbors have noticed any weird odors??

Sandra Chatelain's avatar

Yes. That's the word. I sent the thousand word Drumpf description off to friends. Such a satisfying sentence. A five-to-ten in Dannemora would be a satisfying sentence too. LOL

Abigail Norling's avatar

Yes! And a wonderful piece today Jeff! BUT once again my lunch nearly got shot across the room! "show us on the doll where Kamala hurt you, Ross." Come on!

Deborah T's avatar

Through your nose? 🤣 Jeff is good for that!

Lynn Stolp's avatar

oh me too...whiny baby voice.

Rebecca Elliott's avatar

I'm with Ms. Spouse. I watched that over and over again.

I also note that yesterday was a record-breaking day of donations for the Democratic Party and their candidate. SMALL DOLLAR DONATIONS! That's one of the things I look at. Grassroots support. Were I running, I'd rather have $1M in small donations than $2M from a single, wealthy donor. It indicates FAR more votes.

Tardigret's avatar

It's like manna from heaven

Daniel Hansson's avatar

I loved how his voice became as sheill as Judge Dooms in Roger Rabbit

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Good one! I can't look at his dead, serial killer eyes, so I rely on other comments.

Marlene Lerner-Bigley (CA)'s avatar

Miller is such an evil putz! I wrote him off long ago as a member of our tribe.

Chet Brandt's avatar

Miller is Nazi propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels incarnate.

Marian Goldsmith's avatar

M L-B (CA): p-word is perfect. Love it. Thanks!

un poco loco's avatar

he totally lost his shit there — SO much fun!

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

I love you, and your spouse's writing!

Cindy Watter's avatar

He looks like a cross between Nosferatu and Eichmann. Really the worst person. I read that even the Republicans know that people don't react well to him, so they try to keep him out of sight.

Nikki said during her campaign that “we can’t have Kamala Harris for president if Joe can’t go on as being president “ or something like that. I wondered why she was so against Kamala-no reason given from her so I filled in the blanks. One of Nikki’s PACs has now endorsed Kamala-you can’t make this stuff up! 😆

Doc Blase''s avatar

Anybody who runs against Orange Jesus as she did, knowing his felony/misogynist/fraud/lying baggage then kissing his cinnamon ring doesn't even qualify for a job at the Pretzel Maker in the Kearney, Nebraska Hilltop Mall.

Teri's avatar

Does any Nikki $$ go to a person endorses?

Katy Griffith's avatar

I’m not sure but it would seem that if the PAC is now endorsing Kamala that they will at least send some of the money to Kamala’s campaign

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

so, who's everyone's pick for Kamala's veep?

Betsy's avatar

Can't be a woman or a person of color, so we need a white male from a swing state. My money is on Mark Kelly (although my dream VP would be Pete)

Victoria Wilson's avatar

I like Mark Kelly too.I thought about Josh Shapiro-he’s great too-but Kelly has the astronaut card, the military card, the husband of Gabby Giffords card and is not gay, black, Muslim/Jewish or other religions not Christian, and most of all he is NOT a 36 count felon.

Debra's avatar

As a Pennsylvanian, I can vouch for Shapiro’s qualifications, but we need him here in Pennsylvania a bit longer

Cheryl Fleming's avatar

He has already pledged his support for Kamala.

Prima Sarcastica's avatar

Fellow PA resident here. I agree!

Bill Lawrence's avatar

I like him, too, but I wonder if right now the time is right for a Jew. Israel is in such bad odor at the moment.

PJ Schuster's avatar

It’s not the right time for another avowed Zionist, that’s what lost the younger voters & quite a few POC voters. David Hogg has already warned against doing that.

Bill Lawrence's avatar

I agree. His time will come.

Peggy Hendrickson's avatar

Please don’t take our Mark Kelly. We need him very badly right here in AZ.

Noel King's avatar

Arizona here, we need him. Wouldn’t him departing be an advantage to scary Kari?

Lynn's avatar

"if Kelly became vice president, Democrats would need to fill his seat, potentially risking it flipping to the Republican column and imperiling the party’s chances of Senate control. Arizona’s Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs would almost certainly appoint a Democrat to fill Kelly’s seat. But then that person would have to run in a special election in 2026 and again in 2028 for a full term." - Huff Po

Teri's avatar

Thanks. I was wondering how that process would happen if Mark Kelly is VP nominee, with DEM gov appointing a Dem to fill his seat.

Stephen Brady's avatar

Also apparently in AZ the Governor has to call a special election to fill the seat.

Richard Von Busack's avatar

Yeah, the argument against is that he'd be replaced by a Republican governor.

Peggy Hendrickson's avatar

Our Governor in AZ, Katie Hobbs, is a strong Dem, so we have that going for us if Kelly is selected as a presidential running mate. Bush took our previous Dem Governor from us for his first Secretary of Homeland Security, and we had two GOP governors for years after that before we got Katie in!

Sheila D's avatar

I think you meant Obama--Obama took the AZ Dem Gov into his cabinet!

Teri's avatar

🏆🏆🏆. If that happens or is suspected in maga world, OMG, can you imagine #Turd trying to articulate the issue? 🤯⚰️

Katy Griffith's avatar

He’s not sure that asylum has two meanings!

Deb's avatar

OMG! I love this! This is the type of thing MAGA would come up with! It would be satisfying to beat them at their own game.

Last night "Proof of Life" was trending on Xitter because the MAGA/Q conspiracy theorists are speculating about Joe and whether he's still alive.😵‍💫

Teri's avatar

What happens when POTUS reappears after Covid? Can Dems demand proof of life for #OrangeTurd? 🧐

Teri's avatar

Makes me sad that being Jewish makes Josh Shapiro possibly slip off VP list. Appreciate details on Mark Kelly, that AZ's DEM gov would replace him with a Dem. A swing state too.

Victoria Wilson's avatar

It makes me sad that several of the top prospects would not pass the muster from certain groups. I love Buttigieg but would fear that his being gay would not work. Same with Shapiro being Jewish. We all know that racism and sexism is alive and well in our country, sadly. We need the perfect candidate for VP. I am hoping with time, a gay/Jewish/Muslim/ and other persons who are NOT WASP can hold the highest offices in the land. I think the younger generations will see this happen in their lifetimes, boomers, not so much.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

I'm a Boomer and I agree. I'm to the point that all I wish for my remaining years is that we never, ever elect a GOP president again. The diversity elected officials will come later than my generation. I also think we will elect a gay president before we ever elect an atheist. Right now all I want is Trump gone. Never to see his ugly face again or hear that whiny voice. I don't have a bucket list anymore as far as politics is concerned. The threat is so great right now, that all that needs to happen in the near future is for him to lose. We also need to win Congress.

Bill Lawrence's avatar

I'm for Beshears as Veep. A popular Democrat governor in a red state.

Teri's avatar

As far as electing an atheist (I'm agnostic), with Separation of Church and State, I would LOVE to see a candidate run while never bringing their faith, or lack of faith, into the public arena.

Nancy Ray's avatar

We're gonna have a Jewish First Gentleman.

Vickie Berry's avatar

Exactly! So why are people worried about a Jewish VP pick? There is no “perfect “ person.

joanne g murphy's avatar

The people who wouldn't vote for Harris because her running mate is a Jew are the kind of people who were voting for Trump anyway. So no loss!

Deborah Hunter's avatar

Because you need the youth vote and right now, the war in Israel/Gaza is a touchy subject with many college students supporting Gaza. You want to appeal to the broadest base you can right now.

Dee Whitman's avatar

Fwiw, I think the presence of a Jewish VP in addition to a Jewish SG could lose the votes of mild bigots (= not thrilled about a Jewish SG but that's not a deal-breaker) or people who are distraught about the treatment of the Palestinians.

(Yes, I know that the SG has zero official duties, but bigots and semi-bigots ain't rational thinkers ... )

Teri's avatar

Yippee!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳 This 65+ SWF yearns for more diversity!! Our DC WH, SCOTUS & Congress need to look like real America diversity-wise!

Deborah Hunter's avatar

I want my elected officials to behave with integrity and reasonable domestic/foreign policies. Yes, diversity is important, but just because you have a minority in an important role, doesn't mean that the above will be the end result. Look at Thomas on the SC. Look at Menendez. What about the minorities that are Trump supporters? Same with women now in what used to be male roles. MTG, Bobo, Marsha - all women. I'd take a male any day over them. I've also noticed that when women are in certain male roles, they take on more male characteristics that we don't want. The warm, fuzzy mom stuff goes out the window. You see naked ambition, greed, ruthlessness, just like with some men. You won't be able to succeed in that toxic world unless you adapt to the environment. So I think it would be great if the US finally gets into the 21st century and elects a woman president. But that is not my absolute goal - I want a decent president, male or female.

Teri's avatar

Excellent! Diversity 🥳🥳🥳

Deborah Hunter's avatar

Shapiro has plenty of time to make his mark in politics. I think it's nice that we have such a good group to pick from.

Cheryl Fleming's avatar

And he's from Arizona. Big plus.

PJ Schuster's avatar

The younger voters will absolutely turn against Kamala if she chooses Josh Shapiro. He is an avowed Zionist & would only be swapping 1 Zionist for another one. That’s a hard no. David Hogg has warned the Dems about it.

Kate's avatar

I think Mark Kelly is the best and most logical choice to keep the electorate Biden brought in. I also agree with Heather Cox Richardson. We have a superb cabinet in place and we should not touch it for now. Keep these people doing the work they’ve been doing with Joe.

Cheryl Fleming's avatar

Good point. And Sen. Kelly would be a good choice. My heart belongs to Pete!!!

Deb's avatar

Gabby Giffords, his wife would also be a wonderful asset on the campaign trail. Unless she could be appointed to fill his seat in AZ!

NRA would melt the fuck down...does anyone think this could trigger more nuts than usual?

HI2thDoc's avatar

She was horribly wounded and cannot hold office anymore. Her tragedy was one of the main reasons that her husband ran for office.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

I get the feeling Gabby isn't 100% recovered after being shot. I doubt you'll see her run for office again.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Poor Gabby was hit in the forehead. She is permanently disabled and will not be in elected office. But she and Mark formed a gun control advocacy PAC. They are both gun owners but also are realists. BIg difference from the right wing ammosexuals

Dee Whitman's avatar

I'd not heard "ammosexuals" before. Thanks!

Deb's avatar

I guess I was wondering whether that might keep him from wanting to be considered as VP.

Would it trigger more gun lunatics than normal.

I always am getting emails to contribute to Gabby's anti-gun PAC, which I have. And this morning, she's been sending out emails asking for donations for Kamala.

I'm sure other Dems have gotten all this as well...I'm just speculating about all of this. I have not answers!

Dee Whitman's avatar

I'm more worried about the possibility of losing a Dem senator. His replacement would be a Dem (appointed by the current Dem governor), but then the replacement would have to run in a special election in 2026, I've read, and even if the Dem replacement were to win that, they would have to run in 2028 (when Kelly's current term ends). And, per the 538 website, AZ still leans GOP, albeit less so than many of the GOP-leaning states.

Kelly is perfect in every other way; if not for the potential loss of his Dem Senate seat, I'd love to see him as her VP.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Sen Kelly is a stud. 375 carrier landings as a Naval aviator. Smart and sensible

Deborah Hunter's avatar

Sure beats Vance's military career as a correspondent. There's bring in the military and them there's being IN the military. I'd put Kelly as the latter and Vance as the former.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Mos def! I won't denigrate Vance's service since I'm not a veteran, but Kelly is the real deal who did the dangerous stuff. Very dangerous. Nerves of steel, intestinal fortitude, the right stuff, all in spades

Anita Smibert's avatar

Exactly. I think Mark Kelly would be excellent. Arizona have Republicans who voted for Biden in 2020 and might now be adrift.

SwitchBug's avatar

I like Mark Kelly too. Especially since Katie Hobb’s, Arizona’s Democratic governor, can appoint another Democrat to replace him in the Senate.

Dee Whitman's avatar

But keep in mind that the replacement would have to run again in 2028 (and I think also in 2026, in a special election because of having been appointed rather than elected) -- and that AZ still leans GOP.

I would ***love*** to see Sen. Kelly as VP Harris's running mate, but the qualities and CV that make him perfect for that spot also made him perfect as a winner in AZ. He's a rare bird; Hobbs would have trouble finding someone like him who supports Dem priorities but is also palatable to GOPs.

PJ Schuster's avatar

Also, re having to run again & again, Sen Raphael Warnock did it. Not fun, but doable.

PJ Schuster's avatar

Tim Wahls is actually pretty darn cool. They’ve had him on msnbc several times over the past few days. He’s humble & plain spoken, he’s against school vouchers, pro choice, has 2 daughters age 23 & 26 who keep him informed about SM, especially what’s happening on TikTok

Anita Smibert's avatar

Exactly. He's also a strong candidate for gun reform. Former military as well. I saw some Biden Republicans who helped bring out the 2020 vote absolutely enraged and complaining about Harris's record as AG. Kelly could help bring them out again.

SuNew's avatar

Buttigieg was my very first thought. What a ticket!

arne link's avatar

I know, but we can't do it. We're not there yet. Pete can be Secretary of State.

PJ Schuster's avatar

I love ❤️ Secy Pete!! He is smart as a whip & articulate as hell. He would make an excellent Sec of State, he speaks at least 5 languages, maybe 7.

Barbara Ferrara's avatar

I would like to see governors of swing states considered… PA, MI. All-woman ticket could be a winner this year. Women are mad! I know I am and so are the girl dads. I like Pete but I think another cabinet role would be better and not give an easy target to the big bully.

Dee Whitman's avatar

Pete won't bring any swing voters to the campaign, and that has to be the primary goal. In addition, his being gay will turn off some; sad but true that lots of bigots still roam the earth.

Robert Eckert's avatar

"Pete won't bring any swing voters to the campaign"? He is the only Democrat I can think of who ever got a standing ovation from a Fox News audience.

Teri's avatar

Anyone else waiting for a YUGE maga spontaneous combustion when they absorb VP Harris is a half-Black, half Asian Bi-Racial WOMAN OF COLOR? Watch out for exploding maga brains, public wailing, increased 5150 mental health involuntary hospitalizations. #Harris2024 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamala_Harris

Ellis Weiner's avatar

As someone said on Xitter, "God saved Donald Trump so he could lose to a black woman."

Deborah Hunter's avatar

God saved him too so a black judge x2 & a black D.A,. can send him to prison. I'd call that the Rapture.

Teri's avatar

Perfect? I am LOVING Fani too

AND Judge Juan Merchan, of Hispanic descent, ready to sentence turd soon!! I despise racism. The Universe/Karma balancing the scales, with a side of Irony. 🇺🇸⚖️🗽

Lisa K. Obrien's avatar

Thank you for the first laugh I’ve had since I read that Biden stepped down.

Teri's avatar

Bravo! 😂😂😂. 🏆🏆🏆

Deborah Hunter's avatar

They have to tread carefully about her ethnic background. Vance's wife is 100% Indian. Be interesting to see what comments are made. I know there was talk that she (Harris) wasn't legally born here. WTF. I know Oakland can be a little strange, but it is still the US. Just kidding if you live in Oakland. We have your football team and soon will get your baseball team :)

PJ Schuster's avatar

The MAGA crowd tried that birther crap with Nikki also, they are so despicable

Teri's avatar

Hopefully we will ignore that moldy "red meat" and move along on any birther bull pucky. 🐂

PJ Schuster's avatar

Today 7/27 “The Villages” is the top trender on Xitter; over 200 golf carts are rallying for Kamala in Florida. A place we all thought was totally Trump city.

Teri's avatar

FL''s The Villages is ultra-maga.

I was worried it might be a set up. Like Tulsa, when Tic Tokers reserved 10,000 seats, and then stayed home. It was a YUGE embarrassment. Did Kamala go to FL yet?

Geoff Anderson's avatar

I disagree. While I think Kelly is great, that opens a seat for senate in Arizona, and that would likely be a net pick up for the R's.

Sabine Nolke's avatar

That's been my first thought. Beshear would be a much better pick and might have some downstream impact on the race to replace McConnell.

Derek Smith's avatar

We also need somebody from the East Coast, from either a Blue or Red state. AZ is too closely aligned with the South West / Western US. He’d make a great VP, but needs to keep his Senate seat.

Dee Whitman's avatar

Respectfully disagreeing with one point: A blue-state pick would bring her zero new voters.

I don't yet know much about Roy Cooper, but he's 67 -- probably a minus for young voters, who (rightly, I think) are frustrated by the political gerontocracy that has been insufficiently concerned about the climate catastrophe, about insufficient housing, about price-gouging by landlords, and other issues that degrade the lives of the young.

Andy Beshear is interesting (and only 47yo). Most of his positions are at least somewhat left of center; he's a deacon in his church; and he doesn't support an assault-weapon ban (to me that's a bad stance, but we know that many Murkans like it). He could bring in some voters who dislike djt but who typically turn away from Dem candidates.

Bill Lawrence's avatar

I agree. We need the seat. think seriously about Andy Beshears, popular Dem governor in a red state. Perfect fit.

PJ Schuster's avatar

The Dem Gov Hobbs would appoint a Dem to fill his seat.

Nancy Potter's avatar

That depends on whether Kari Lake has sufficiently beclowned herself that she can't even pick up enough Republican votes.

Runfastandwin's avatar

Kaine didn't work the last time we tried something like that. fortune favors the bold.

Dee Whitman's avatar

But Kaine was *blah*in every way, and Kelly isn't. He has vigor, and he has an amazing CV -- not just former military but a former astronaut (that's cool; that's heroic).

I'd be 100% behind Kelly as the running mate if not for the likely flip of his Senate seat to a GOP. (Gov. Hobbs would appoint a Dem, but the appointee would have to run in a special election in 2026 -- and AZ trends red, per the 538 website.)

Runfastandwin's avatar

I'm with you. Also I think AZ is going blue going forward. The gop there is nuts.

un poco loco's avatar

Pete would be my first choice too, but he’s got a small child — you do have to admire his priorities… :) Mark Kelly would be my next choice — I’d settle for seeing Gabby now and then, but Kelly is smart and capable and a good guy even on his own.

Robert Eckert's avatar

I think the babies would be a major plus.

Cheryl from Maryland's avatar

No. Mark Kelly is a Senator. We have to hold the Senate.

PJ Schuster's avatar

The Gov appoints the vacant seat, AZ Gov is (D) Katie Hobbs

Bob Lewis's avatar

I've gotten my dream already. Kamala for President.

Now I will work my ass off to make sure Trump and Project 2025 are defeated.I will redouble my efforts.

Joe will forever have my respect, but I have a candidate I never thought would be on the ballot in Kamala.

Let's get to work. We have history to make.

SeekingReason's avatar

We are so past due for the first woman president!

Deborah Hunter's avatar

It has to be the right woman. Just wanting a woman to be president - you could get MTG, Boo Boo or Marsha. I really don't care about the gender - I want the one whose policies I agree with.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Yes! The right, competent, qualified woman.

Bob Lewis's avatar

I think Kamala is a great choice.

Nancy Potter's avatar

If Mexico can elect a woman, why can't we?

Dee Whitman's avatar

We haven't yet because the US -- which leads in certain ways, such as technical innovation -- is a socially conservative and frankly backward country.

This is why we lag behind our peers (in the group of about 30+ developed democracies) with regard to universal health care, a less-unfair tax code, educational standards and achievement, abortion policy, voting rights, gun safety, women's rights, civil rights, employers' obligations and workers' rights, paid time off, paid parental leave, etc. etc. etc.

That said, I think we WILL elect a woman in 2024! President Kamala Harris.

SeekingReason's avatar

I said we’re past due for electing a woman. Why are you asking If Mexico can, why can’t we? (And we did elect Hillary)

PJ Schuster's avatar

Unfortunately, until we pass a Constitutional Amendment to get rid of the EC, that kind of nonsense will just keep happening.

The EC & the Senate are both counter-democratic institutions.

SeekingReason's avatar

We did elect a woman president-Hillary Clinton. She won the popular vote. trump was selected, not elected…just like W.

Robert Eckert's avatar

At least eight years overdue...

Rick Calegari's avatar

We definitely have our work cut out for us but Kamala can do this. The fact that she's already raised quite a bit of money and his assholiness along with the rest of the GOP Howler monkeys are losing their shit, shows how scared they are about her candidacy. Although many of us were pulling for Joe, this re-energized ticket could be what finally gets the demented flatulent felon out of politics and back to Mar a Lardo for good.

Bob Lewis's avatar

I agree, Kamala won't be intimidated by Trump, she's dealt with his type before. She scares the shit out of him.

Yesterday was tough for many of us. In Marine Corps parlance, embrace the suck and move the f*ck on. The game has changed. We can adapt faster than they can.

It's easy for me, I've been a fan of Kamala for a long time. Before her run for Senate in 2016.

I have wanted her as President since.

Joe will forever have my respect. He’s a decent, honorable man and a great President.

I will continue my efforts to raise the public's awareness of Project 2025 and to defeating Trump at the ballot box.

Everything else i is just a distraction to me.

PJ Schuster's avatar

That’s the mission, do everything we can to get VP Harris elected as President, & to keep informing voters about Project 2025 & how it will affect their lives.

Sam Maruca's avatar

Not Mar-a-Lardo; prison. I suspect the Orange Lizard can already hear the bars slamming behind him.

Rick Calegari's avatar

He definitely belongs in the big house but the way he's getting treated by SCOTUS and other judges, it's not looking very promising. Hopefully Judge Merchan will buck the trend and gives him the sentence he deserves.

Sam Maruca's avatar

Plenty of the conduct on which criminal liability is based cannot possibly qualify as "official acts" even under a broad reading of Trump v. US, I think.

Kaye Stone's avatar

The orange shitgibbon needs to go to prison, and Kamala is just the woman to send his ass to jail! 💙🌊

Dee Whitman's avatar

Please don't say things that will be seized on by the right as "Dems have a vendetta against him!" Harris -- either as VP or as Prez -- can have zero role in charging him with any crime or in prosecuting him.

Judge Merchan will decide on his sentence for his conviction in the falsification-of-biz-records case. Juries will decide whether he's guilty in the three other pending cases, and the relevant judges will decide his sentence(s).

Thanks.

Teri's avatar

Good point. Let's not give GOP a single talking point.

Teri's avatar

And his defeat opens the prison cell doors wide. DOJ & efforts to toss pending cases will be off limits to him.

I’m behind Kamala all the way.

She is my first choice for the position.

Let’s all row in the same direction, working to defeat Trump and Project 2025 at the ballot box.

PJ Schuster's avatar

Me too, Bob, me too!! I’m 74, was all in on women’s liberation, the ERA, Gloria Steinem, burning my bras, etc. I had given up hope of living to see the first woman president. Now I am dancing & practically hysterical with JOY 🤩. I am so fired up now. President Biden has my respect, but I was sinking into despair with him staying in the race, I could just feel us losing.

I respect him even more for having the patriotism & courage to step aside & allow a new generation to carry us forward.

Bob Lewis's avatar

Joe Biden and George Washington are the only two presidents to walk away from the power of the presidency solely for the good of the country.

Joe will always have my profound respect.

I love Kamala she'll be great.

James Derheim's avatar

Gov Gretchen Whitmer could help bring Michigan in and she also takes absolutely NO SHIT from any freakazoids. And unlike Trump, she survived a REAL attempt on her life.

arne link's avatar

No, sorry but it can't be two intelligent women. It has to be a white man for fragile male votes.

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

I hate that this is true, but yeah, it's true

Kristy Kanen's avatar

Beshear, he's popular in RED state.

David (Dave) Jaspers's avatar

Beshear delivers Kentucky and may siphon some votes in Ohio. Works for me.

Dean Gavney's avatar

If I thought for one instant that would turn Kentucky blue, I’d be all for it, but it won't.

On the other hand, Pennsylvania looks to be a margin-of-error race, and Josh Shapiro, with his 62% approval rating, should put it in the win column.

Dee Whitman's avatar

And, although most of his positions are left of center, he doesn't support an assault-weapons ban (I dislike that, but plenty of swing voters will like that); he's a deacon in his church; and he's young (47). At this time, he looks like the best choice.

Kristy Kanen's avatar

He may change his position when he's out of the Deep South. It's possible.

Kate's avatar

It’s probably true, at least partly, but I think that that is a battle for after Inauguration Day. I like the idea of Whitmer, but I don’t know if she would be better help bringing Michigan’s electoral votes as VP or as governor. Newsom is not an option. My first choice would be Kelly and my second Beshear. Kelly wins out for me because he is a popular senator in a state that at best is purple and his gun control activism is what I’d like to see brought into a new administration.

Dean Gavney's avatar

Whitmer has declined to be considered

Kristy Kanen's avatar

She said she doesn't want it.

Dee Whitman's avatar

AZ isn't purple -- it leans red. See the 538 website.

We can't afford to put Kelly's Senate seat at risk. Otherwise he'd be the best pick for her running mate.

If you don't already know about Beshear, I think you might like him.

1. Most of his positions are solid Dem, but he opposes an assault-weapons ban (that's good in the eyes of the voters that Dems want -- and his preference will be immaterial if we can get a Dem-majority Congress, which could pass a bill banning them).

2. He's a deacon in his church (VERY good for the chunk of voters who can't bring themselves to vote for djt but who view Dems as godless libs).

3. He's only 47, making the Dem ticket young-ish and invigorated/invigorating.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

It's come out recently that Nate Silver is owned now by Peter Thiel. I wouldn't believe anything he says anymore.

SPW's avatar

So I’m liking the looks of Mark Kelly and that choice may turn AZ Bluish purple at least. Really, Harris has a lot of excellent choices.

Linda McCaughey's avatar

Yeah, but--we need him to stay where he is to keep the Senate....

David (Dave) Jaspers's avatar

Governor of Arizona is a Democrat and would name a Democrat to fill the seat.

David A Pitock's avatar

Yes we do otherwise we might get the nut ball Kari Lake in the Senate which believe us you don't want that she's tRump in a dress

Ellis Weiner's avatar

And, although I think Pete B. is the best spokesperson and debater in the entire Dem. party, I think a woman/gay man ticket is a bridge too far.

Susan Burgess's avatar

Is it really a bridge too far? A ticket of two top notch experienced democrats no matter what their colors vs Project 2025?

Pete impresses almost everyone. You can’t not see Pete. He’s that good.

Ellis Weiner's avatar

He is, yes. But among other things, we're trying to win over independents and (sigh) undecideds. I know--how can anyone BE undecided, when faced with Trump? But I'm assuming those centrists/wafflers wouldn't approve of a gay man on the ticket. It may be a hard enough sell to get them to accept a woman of color.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

It's a bridge too far. There is still quite a few in this country that do not approve of gay people and it's not just the Evangelicals. There are still a few people around from my parent's generation (WWII) and I'm a Boomer. You need the Boomers gone and I think you will see a much more progressive country. Most people vote with their emotions, they don't alwayus take the time to research the candidates they're voting for. How many MAGA have any clue as to what the GOP is really running on? Hillary was whip smart, totally qualified to be President. I think a huge factor in the reason she lost was that people did not like her from the Clinton years. If it was just talent, she would have blown Trump away.

Dee Whitman's avatar

Yes, it absolutely *is* a bridge too far in the US of 2024, which is sad and infuriating. This country is socially conservative / backward compared to our peers (30+ other developed democracies).

This is why we still lack so much that they've had in place for years or decades: universal health care, a less-unfair tax code, educational standards and achievement, abortion policy, voting rights, gun safety, equal rights + protections for everyone who isn't a straight white man, sufficient housing, social housing, anti-price-gouging rules for landlords, a livable minimum wage, employers' obligations and workers' rights, paid time off, paid parental leave, action on the climate crisis (barring Biden's excellent but recent contribution), etc. etc. etc.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Anybody who won't vote Pete because he is gay will already not vote for Kamala because she is a Black woman married to a Jew. We are not going to win over any of the bigots, we just have to outnumber them. Certainly we should not give them a pre-emptive veto or we shouldn't be nominating Kamala in the first place.

Ellis Weiner's avatar

Better yet, put him on, and then have him bow out in September.

Maui Wahine's avatar

Roy Cooper of NC fits the bill.

Dee Whitman's avatar

I think Andy Beshear is better, in part bc he's younger; he's active in his church; and he opposed an assault-weapons ban (which will draw some voters who would never vote for a Dem otherwise).

The goal of putting a Dem governor of a red state isn't to make that state favor Harris over djt, which will never happen in a solidly red stat like KY (or even in a pink state such as NC) -- it's to draw enough on-the-fence voters around the country such that at least one swing state or pink state (preferably more) favors Harris over djt.

Robert Eckert's avatar

That would take out a Dem governor who would almost certainly be replaced by a Republican (his Lt. Gov. would have the job until 2027 but then probably lose). Cooper is a different case because the NC governor's race is already happening now, and he is not running (term limited out) so he is free to take a different post.

Susan Burgess's avatar

Maybe it isn’t as true as people imagine.

By the way you were hysterical a couple of times in this post.

Sam Maruca's avatar

Yeah still a racist, misogynist country we have here.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

True. But you play the hand you're dealt. You don't run a candidate that you know can't win just to say you're a progressive party. Compared to the political climate when I grew up (50's & 60's), we've come a long way. Of course, we have much further to go. Racism and misogyny are tough issues to tackle.

arne link's avatar

But it is starting to change. I live in a liberal state. We are accustomed to seeing people of all colors in every job.

Sam Maruca's avatar

I suspect Harris will not play well with Hispanic and even black men. But women will save us again. And perhaps youth.

Kristy Kanen's avatar

If ONLY women voted , she would STILL win.

Kristy Kanen's avatar

Can't be a POC either, unfortunately.

Marlene Lerner-Bigley (CA)'s avatar

The thing about Mark Kelly is that he is an identical twin so if he gets ill (God forbid), his brother can sit in for him. :) Andy Beshear is governor of KY and he is youngish which would appeal to Gen Z’ers. We have to take them into account also.

Teri's avatar

Agree. GOD, that would FUCKING ROCK! No offense to the men in this fine group.

David A Pitock's avatar

I hate thinking your right personally I'd vote for a 2 women ticket in a heart beat 💓 ♥️ but it's country over party first, then maybe we can fix get rid of, the good ol' boy network problem this country still has.

Susan Burgess's avatar

For now maybe. But you’ll never hit what you don’t aim at. Never over never in.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

Right now we need to beat Trump. I don't care if we run a chihuahua as VP if it beats Trump. We can worry about the diversity issues after the election. I think Pete is terrific.

Susan Burgess's avatar

Diversity is only a problem for people who don’t like diversity. Most of those people are Trump voters.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

71 million people voted for Trump. You can't dismiss his voters as a small number. I'm sure there are Trump voters who have no issue with someone being gay, just like there are Dems who have an issue with someone being gay. I feel that this isn't an election to do a lab experiment to see if nationally a gay person on the ticket could win. It's too important. Little by little, you're seeing gay candidates win. I just don't think it's the time to have Pete run in a national election. He's 42. There's more than enough time to put him out there nationally and have him run on a national ticket. Love to see him run against Vance!

Ellis Weiner's avatar

Same. (I'm your age, Deborah.) I read a tweet that said, "I'm a lifelong Republican and I would vote for Joe Biden if he were in a coma." Now he doesn't have to!

If the rumors are true -- that Manchin was putting out feelers abut participating in an open convention (after Biden stepped down but before he anointed Harris) -- then Manchin's family needs to take away his car and boat keys.

Few Dems would vote for him, given his obstructionist bullshttt in the Senate, and few "anyone but djt" GOPs would vote for him bc he was a Dem for so long. Manchin is utterly delusional and has an enormous ego despite having done almost nothing worthwhile in his long life. He embodies the caricature of politicians as self-interested, greedy, power-hungry, and basically useless.

It's how we got Merrick fucking Garland. Eff bipartisanship.

Dee Whitman's avatar

Kinzinger supports the disastrous economic policies that have destroyed the middle class over the past 43 years, have brought massive misery to about 140million Americans, and have therefore radicalized so many, leading to the awful tea party, the far-worse MAGA, and the truly disastrous P2025.

There is zero room for him in a govt that's trying to reverse this 43-year disaster. (I encourage you to read Robert Reich's 11-14-20 column in The Guardian, with some shocking stats from RAND about the GOP's wealth heist.)

I know that Kinzinger has paid a high price for doing the right thing and I feel for him, but he doesn't belong on this ticket or in this admin. And frankly, it's kind of disturbing that we're lauding him and the equally disastrous Cheney and Romney for doing what is basically the care minimum: supporting the rule of law and the Constitution / upholding their oath.

PJ Schuster's avatar

I totally agree with you!! Someone suggested Liz Cheney as the VP pick & I was like “Not only no, but FUCK NO” She is a hard-line Republican, hard-line forced birther, & she has called all Democrats baby killers & said we believe in killing babies after they are born!! Why in the world would any Dem ever even think that?? 🤮

David (Dave) Jaspers's avatar

Sen. Mark Kelly would make a great VP and deliver Arizona. Plus, the Governor of Arizona is a Democrat, and would name a Democrat to take his seat. Win win.

Sheila D's avatar

but only until the special election to choose his replacement....

Dee Whitman's avatar

*Not* a win-win, because AZ is a light-red state and that Senate seat would probably go GOP in the 2026 special election that would be required, or the 2028 election that would be required bc that's when Kelly's term expires.

The goal of putting a Dem sen. from, or Dem governor of, a red state isn't to make that state favor Harris over djt, which will never happen in a solidly red state (KY) and probably won't happen in a light-red state (AZ) or pink state (NC -- pls see the 538 website for a listing of states by degree of color). The goal is to draw enough on-the-fence voters around the country such that at least one swing state or pink state (preferably more) favors Harris over djt.

Kelly could actively campaign for Beshear (who I think is the best pick at this point^), persuading the Arizonans who voted for him to vote for the ticket and thus deliver AZ for Harris.

^Beshear's pluses:

-- Most of his positions are favorable to Dems, but he opposes a ban on assault weapons, which will appeal to centrist or center-right voters who are iffy about Harris (his position will be immaterial if Congress were to pass an ass-weapons ban);

-- he's a deacon in his church (very appealing to centrist or center-right voters who view Dems as godless libs);

-- he's clearly good at consensus building bc he's been elected in red-red-red KY; and

-- he's only 47.

Mary's avatar

Mark Kelly. White male married to a shooting survivor. Former astronaut who can be replaced in the senate by a democratic governor. Should help swing Arizona all the way blue.

Sheila D's avatar

only replaced by Gov until the special election to choose replacement

Deborah Hunter's avatar

Kelly's Senate term is up in 2026. When would a special election be if he's replaced by the Dem governor? AZ is iffy. Do we want to take the chance that a GOP would occupy his seat for 2 years if they win a special election? 1/20/25 - 1/20/27? You have to weigh that against how much benefit would he be to the ticket versus the possible loss of a Senate seat?

Robert Eckert's avatar

His term is up in 2028 but a special election to finish the last two years of his term would have to be held in 2026.

Ryn's avatar

I’d pick Pete or Gov Whitmer but due to some fragile cishet white male voters it should probably be Mark Kelly, not that I’d be upset with that choice either

Deborah Hunter's avatar

It's just not white, heterosexual men that might possibly vote against Pete because he's gay. If you use that logic, then no woman would be a Republican.

Teri's avatar

Reluctantly agree.

Anita Smibert's avatar

Mark Kelly. Swing state, former astronaut.

Dee Whitman's avatar

1. Can't take a chance on his Senate seat being won by a GOP. Yes, Hobbs would appoint a Dem replacement, but that person would have to win a special election in 2026 and win a regular election in 2028. AZ is still a light-red state -- too risky. (Pls see 538 website for list of states by degree of blue/red.)

2. There are other ways to deliver a state to Harris + ___ . For ex., Kelly -- a well-regarded sitting sen. -- could campaign vigorously for the Harris-Beshear ticket, persuading centrist / center-right Arizonans who voted for him to vote for that ticket, thus delivering AZ to Harris.

Anita Smibert's avatar

Beshear has no experience in federal politics, so he wouldn't be helpful to her as an advisor. Kari Lake would run for that Senate seat, so I am sure they could find a Democrat that could beat her.

Susan Niemann's avatar

Robert Eckert's avatar

They can be from the same state, but that state's electoral votes cannot go to both of them. President Harris and Vice President Vance would be an invitation to MAGA assassins.

Kristy, this is not true. There is nothing in the Constitution regarding this. It is a long held myth. However, it can get complicated by a close vote due to Electoral College. But I really do NOT believe this will be close. We’ll blow them out of the water!

Kristy Kanen's avatar

I think it's in Democratic nomination rules, not the constitution. But thanks, I'll do more research 😊

Deborah Hunter's avatar

You don't want two politicians from the same area of the country. The entire US is just not Cali or the west coast mentality. I've lived in upstate NY, Midwest and Nevada. Each state was almost like it's own country with food and mentality. You need to have a ticket to appeal to the majority of the country. The west and east coast mentality is not like the Midwest.

SeekingReason's avatar

Deborah, I mainly don’t want the usual line of DNC thinking from yesteryear where they thought a liberal candidate would “balanced” with a centrist type. That won’t work for this. I’m fine with picking from two different states but they need to be strong anti-fascists. No centrist types. That’s what got us here.

There are a pretty good pool of possibilities but I hope we find out soon. This time we have a battle of Democracy Vs Fascism. I don’t actually think most people care where the candidate is from, as long as they will make bold moves to forever remove the orange FELON-deadly seditionist-rapist from our political world.

Robert Eckert's avatar

There absolutely is something in the Constitution about this. No state's electoral votes can go to two people from that state. Without California's electoral votes a Democratic win is impossible.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

I doubt Gavin wants to be #2. He seems to be heading for President. He's young enough that 8 years of Harris would still give him time.

arne link's avatar

Not Newsome. We need someone from a swing state.

Vickie Berry's avatar

If Harris changes her residence and voter registration to Washington, then it would work.

Gov. Cooper from NC. That would help flip NC.

Teri's avatar

No, not Gov Newsome of CA. I live in CA & vote for him. Not enough experience. Not enough depth yet for VP.

arne link's avatar

He'll run for president some day.

Dee Whitman's avatar

Josh Shapiro would be branded an East Coast elite -- and he's Jewish, in a nation that's still fairly racist/antisemitic, so he won't draw the centrist/center-right voters we need. Ditto Newsom, who's seen as too liberal. And Mark Kelly, ideal in most ways, needs to hang on to his Senate seat -- AZ is still light-red, and his replacement (tho a Dem, appointed by the gov.) would have to win a 2026 special election and a 2028 general election. Too risky

Andy Beshear is the best choice at this point (someone better might emerge, but these are his pluses:

-- Most of his positions are favorable to Dems, but he opposes a ban on assault weapons, which will appeal to centrist or center-right voters who are iffy about Harris (hisplus for those who want a ban, as I do: his position will be immaterial if Congress were to pass an ass-weapons ban);

Samantha M's avatar

She also voted with trump 90+% of the time. No fucking republicans. Just once I’d like to see Dems remember they’re the party of Roosevelt. And not Teddy. 😎

Laurel Ellis's avatar

Liz Cheney could be a uniter. Non-maga republicans must certainly respect her as do most democrats for putting country over everything to stand up to Trump. That is rare for ANY politician. As VP she wouldn't have the power to do much damage, policy -wise. Dems need as strong a team as possible to beat the devil.

SeekingReason's avatar

Liz Cheney would kill the win. NO REPUBLICANS on OUR ticket. She went along with most of trump’s agenda! She is very much a right winger. Just because she did the right thing for the investigative committee doesn’t mean she would unite our party. I appreciate that she believes in our laws, that she sought evidence. A VP can often caste a deciding vote and would take over in the case of death or incapacity of the Pres. No Way.

Kristy Kanen's avatar

Neither one would help, unfortunately

Eileen's avatar

Here's my dream ticket: Kamala Harris and Mark Kelly. They are a perfect equation. Mark Kelly is almost a reincarnation of President Biden - the battle wounds of watching your wife almost die a violent death from gun violence and standing by her side every step of the way is pure Biden-esq dignity, compassion, loyalty, and yes, love. This is a real man. He is empathy. He is not afraid of having a very smart wife. He knows how to maneuver around powerful women. He has his own accolades. Astronaut? In America, astronaut is the person who touches heaven. The bravest of the brave. The Right Stuff. Seriously, Mark is our guy.

SeekingReason's avatar

I’d like Eric Swalwell, Katie Porter, Pete Buttigieg would shred Vance in a debate!

arne link's avatar

OMG. A gay guy shredding a Nazi? That would be awesome..

Robert Eckert's avatar

Swalwell and Porter are from California.

Jayme Wolworth's avatar

Well, I know it won't be a Republican (they can never again be trusted) and Shapiro dedicated himself to PA and shouldn't leave them after only 2 years and we need him in PA (although I love him!) Mark Kelly doesn't have enough experience, Beshear? Maybe. Doug Jones has been mentioned, I like Chris Murphy but maybe another day. It's going to be really hard because we need a lot of these governors to stay where they are and defend their blue hold. UGH! It's going to be interesting. Whoever it is they will have to be white and male for sure lol. Can't have two strong women!

Tails's avatar

I hear Roy Cooper's name being tossed around - he may not be bad, he's terming out as Gov as NC, which could easily be a swing state, and he's an older white male to calm those other older white males. My dream pick would be Pete B, but I think that might be a bit much for some of the less liberal swing voters.

Carol Jacobson's avatar

I like many of them, but Shapiro from PA would probably cement that state for dems - and trump needs that state, so fuck him. Kelly would be good too but we can’t lose a dem senator, even tho AZ’s process is for the governor to appoint someone from the person’s own party.

Susan Niemann's avatar

"Shouldn’t the Republican Party be reimbursed for fraud".... I wouldn't have believed that if you hadn't posted it for all to see. JFC!!!! They are melting ALL the way down. For a minute, I thought Stephen Miller was gonna have a heart attack. 😂😂😂 This is great to see them all freaking out. And my decision to cancel the fucking New York Times continues to be the right one! Great start to Monday, Jeff... we all love ya, man! 💙✌️

Charles Austin's avatar

I was disappointed that Nosferatu Goebbels didn't explode on live TV. Then I could die in peace.😆😆

Susan Niemann's avatar

😂😂😂 No doubt! I forgot how high pitched and whiney his voice gets! I despise that SOB.

Sharon C Storm's avatar

He was on the verge of a meltdown, I love to see that miserable piece of crap get scared of an intelligent woman, and a black one at that.

Samantha M's avatar

If the Republican Party is reimbursed for fraud it can turn around a pay this country for putting a Russian operative in the White House and re-electing multiple Russian operatives to congress, some of whom have enabled compromised judges to serve too.

arne link's avatar

Since presidents have immunity from acts, Biden should start stacking the Supreme Court right now, right? At least get the ball rolling for Karma.

Samantha M's avatar

Hear hear! From the party that hasn’t won an election cycle since it took away women’s bodily autonomy, enjoy the seeds you planted in 20 & 22. 🌸💐🌺

Betsy's avatar

Oh Lord honey yaaassssss

EFS's avatar

That was almost the best part, but I think "they filled in circles" really did it for me. That's what I look forward to most on election days - filling in the circles.

Don'tBlameTheDog's avatar

😂🤣😂 He's got 34 felonies for Fraud and now the big weenie is crying that he's a victim of fraud! 🤑🤑🤑 You cannot make this shit up!

Connie Davis's avatar

Every citizen should be reimbursed to the fraud that Trump perpetrated on us as president.

Be interesting to hear the racial attacks. Vance's wife is 100% Indian and Hindu and Kamala is 50% Indian. A slippery slope when both your candidates/families aren't lily white and Christian.

My Aching Goddamn Ass. PERFECT!!!!! 😂

Darrell Smith's avatar

Can you imagine how Joe felt having to fight COVID again and make this decision when he felt like shit? How will you feel when you are 81? Lester Holt will still not say anything about all the lies that Trump spews every time he opens his mouth.

Do you know that JD Vance is not his real name? That he didn't grow up with hillbillies, he was in a upper middle class family in Ohio and went to college. So why did the fake President choose a fake person as his running mate? Because JD Vance is just as FAKE as Trump is.

Bob Lewis's avatar

Vance is a puppet, a sop for MAGA.

counterlife's avatar

He's a puppet of Peter Thiel, a ridiculously wealthy and stupid gay "libertarian". Thiel and Vance (if that is his name today) are using MAGA for their own agenda. Which has nothing to do with any MAGA who is not also a multi-millionaire.

Schnauzermom's avatar

His name wasn’t JD Vance when he lived in Middletown. It’s JD Bowman. My aunt grew up in Middletown; the residents who remember JD think he’s a lying little shit.

Bob Lewis's avatar

Indeed a lying little shit.

Darrell Smith's avatar

I will be 81 in 2032. I am not going to make any conjecture on how I will feel then. It depends on lots of things. I have doubts about it if the Toddler King gets back in. Fake is exactly what a puppet is.

FeralAF's avatar

He's a "better looking" Bannon.

"Burn it all down" Bannon was busy.

Teri's avatar

Imagine how outraged & explosively mad Sloppy Steve is today. Jailed for contempt, no podcasting privileges. No way to gather his anti-American traitors to plot new strategy. Cellbound. Helpless. Angry. Impotent.

🇺🇸⚖️🧑‍⚖️🗽😂😂😂😂😂

Carrie Duncan's avatar

That's such a nice thought. Thank you, Teri.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

And he didn't have on 3 shirts and I think he's taken a bath at least once this year.

Schnauzermom's avatar

He’s probably had a good de-lousing.

Catherine's avatar

Yeah, they probably hosed him down when he first got there.

Sharon C Storm's avatar

I’m 84, feel pretty good except for arthritis. I know Joe is capable of continuing his brilliant agenda, but I also will support Kamala because he endorsed her, and also because she will be a great president.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

He's more dangerous than Trump. He's much younger, light years smarter and bankrolled by Thiel. What's not to like?

SeekingReason's avatar

Darrell- all true and GOOD points!

Janine Johnston's avatar

You should watch the YT Video by Trae Crowder on JDVance. Excellent!!

Dark Brandoned the shit out of it is right!!!Hooray!!!!!! And Joe Manchin can piss off!!! Great piece Jeff! Harris for the win!!!!

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

I had a whole section about Joe Manchin "considing a run" that I had to delete when it was reported this morning that he's absolutely not doing that

Tails's avatar

I had a big laugh yesterday when Claire McCaskill said, "Joe, read the room! You'd have to be a Democrat!" He's such a horse's ass.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

Love me some Claire. Sorry she's not still in the Senate.

Teri's avatar

😂😂😂😂😂

Kristy Kanen's avatar

Like KH would even consider that A hole.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

Sorry you didn't print it anyway. Would have been stellar.

Chris B in KC's avatar

No one should question Pres. Joe’s understanding of politics-his timing was perfect in stealing the show from the 🍊/🤮 convention bump. They can’t cry loud enough! 😂🤣😂

So-go ahead and spend all of your time whining about how Joe ‘should resign if he can’t run again’, he’s going to Presidentin’ the F’ out of the rest of this term.

Cassandra Here's avatar

I we are all going to point and laugh right out loud at them. Seriously, I need a laugh track to carry with me. There’s a guy parked in the lot at my gym; he’s got the great big black truck with LDFF riding in the club cab, flags about Brandon. I want to stand at his truck, play a laugh track and point. I could draw a crowd. And I’ll betcha these guys are all crying about all that money they spent on those stupid flags. Bunch of numpties.

Teri's avatar

I'd love to make a red, white & blue sign "KAMALA 2024". Large to cover my entire back window. I fear my back window would be shot out, or destroyed. Blue dot in deep red area.

arne link's avatar

I want a new one that says "Prosecutor vs Felon". I'm sure they will be available shortly.

EFS's avatar

I agree - I think this was planned by the master. I appreciate everything Joe Biden has done as president, bur leaving Republicans sputtering is the best.

Teri's avatar

Did not see the magnitude & 3 level chess politics behind Joe Biden leaving the race.

arne link's avatar

Nothing sweeter than Magat tears.

Dave Drell's avatar

Sore losers Republitards— she would be an “incumbent” if he resigned now… even harder to beat an incumbent!

arne link's avatar

Yeah. Remember that he has immunity for all he does for the next few months. The first thing should be bringing charges against Thomas. That's an easy one. Alito, too. Those scumbags are so corrupt. He can Executive Order the shit out of things.

Abena N's avatar

👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿 Yr post was absolutely 💯!! I felt saddened that President Biden decided to hand over the reins, but I’m relieved, as well. The media and his fair weather friends were sapping every last ounce of his energy; it was terrible! But, if yr gong to go, Dark Brandon certainly showed them how to do it! So I’m all the way behind VP Harris; that’s all we need to be thinking about and working on! This can’t be an IF she wins; this has to be a WHEN Kamala wins!! Amen!🙏🏾🇺🇸🙏🏾

Jenny Bizzoco's avatar

How about the fucking media presses the old psychotic babbling baboon aka Donald Trump who’s not fit to be president to drop out?

Marie Drozdis's avatar

Losing Joe like this, the only positive for me is that we will now refer to OLD, Demented Donnie. I was Biden, all the way and I can't express my disappointment enough. He is a great president.

Schnauzermom's avatar

Yes! Now that Donnie’s going to be the oldest Presidential candidate ever, Big Media better start talking about his mental state every fucking day.

Catherine's avatar

I love how this move fucks over the MSM and forces them to give some coverage, and took the oxygen out of the room from their dumb-ass convention and the fake supposed assassination attempt.

Michael Edick's avatar

Just finished listening to HCR, and she talked about how the Republicans walk down a dark alley, and Biden came along and slammed the door shut behind them. They are stuck with JD Vance and Befuddlepants after the convention. The R’s are now in complete panic mode….this gives me great joy.

Kate's avatar

I’m thinking all of this has been orchestrated between the administration and the Democratic leadership for at least a month now. It’s brilliant. And I wonder if either tRUMP or Steven Miller will stroke out long before November. Good lord I think Miller was foaming at the mouth and nearly incoherent.

Sharon C Storm's avatar

Isn’t it fun to watch Miller melt down? 🤣😂

Michael Baker's avatar

Love the start of the column…and the rest of it. I prepared to live and die with Biden. The fact he immediately endorsed Harris is good enough for me that Biden feels she is up for and best suited to the job. Biden is a rock star: great President, politician extraordinaire and a great man. And the politicians and the people who vote Republican who don’t see this can, as you say, fuck all the way off.

Chris Ortolano's avatar

Meanwhile, the Biden supporters who never waivered are pivoting to support Harris 100%. But the "Joe must go" crowd are whining that we damaged our chances by supporting Biden as long as we did. They can also fuck all the way off!

SeekingReason's avatar

Agree Chris. I was supporting Biden staying but IMMEDIATELY switched support to Harris after the announcement.

Bo's avatar

My first thought upon waking up this morning as that Joe really fucked the Sunday morning infotainment peeps. LtfOL!

"Sending out a press release on Sunday afternoon, after the morning talk shows, totally screwed the media. No video clips, no “breaking news,” no chance for pundits to comment on how he sounded, looked, walked, etc. No chance to schedule guests to pick him apart as he spoke. He totally starved them of clicks and eyeballs, in repayment for them starving his candidacy of positive coverage purely for the sake of clicks and eyeballs".

Chet Brandt's avatar

The MSM can now kiss Joe’s ass. Joe owes them NOTHING!

Dave Drell's avatar

Also we have to get control of the house & senate…. need full cooperation for Harris…. then we set our sites on the SCOTUS… make changes.

arne link's avatar

Scotus indictments must start NOW. Presidential immunity, how sweet it is.

Kay-El's avatar

“Biden never had covid. He’s a threat to Democracy”. Sure fuckwit, that makes sense. I’ve never had it and I support democracy. Last time I checked Trump had covid and he wants to be a dictator. 🙄

Dave Drell's avatar

He’s like a little 5 yo- whining that you took away his favorite toy. Waaa Waaa waaaaaaaaaaa. Loser of the year.

Chet Brandt's avatar

On 9/18/2024 LDFF will face sentencing in New York. We will then see how much of a loser LDFF really is.

Mr. Smith's avatar

Hahahahahahaha! Eat shit Trump! Eat shit neo-confederate dipshits! And fuck that prick Manchin too!

Go Kamala, go!

David Olson's avatar

You nailed it Jeff. So now, we must endure the misogyny and racism of the GOP—strike that, MAGA, not GOP. Sebastian Gorka the exemplar of patriotism and manhood remarked ‘Her [Harris] only qualification is a vagina and skin color.” Great campaign add. Pretty sure that wraps up the women’s vote. Basically, Joe pretty much outmaneuvered the MAGA crowd. As for the Orange guy, wow, just wow. As usual clueless and classless. VP Harris, you’ll rock it.

Kate's avatar

MAGA and the GOP are the same thing. There hasn’t been a difference between them in at least 5 years.

David Olson's avatar

My comment more out of deference to those R’s who refused to be MAGA, but on balance you are correct.

Kate's avatar

Sadly, Kinzinger and Cheney may be the only ones left.
