The goal of putting a Dem sen. from, or Dem governor of, a red state isn't to make that state favor Harris over djt, which will never happen in a solidly red state (KY) and probably won't happen in a light-red state (AZ) or pink state (NC). (Pls see the 538 website for a listing of states by degree of color.) The goal is to draw enough on-the-fence voters around the country such that at least one swing state or pink state (preferably more) favors Harris over djt.
I prefer Beshear over Cooper (someone better might emerge, but these are his pluses):
-- Most of his positions are favorable to Dems, but he opposes a ban on assault weapons, which will appeal to centrist or center-right voters who are iffy about Harris (those of us who want a ban shd remember that his position will be immaterial if Congress were to pass an ass-weapons ban);
-- he's a deacon in his church (very appealing to centrist or center-right voters who view Dems as godless libs);
-- he's clearly good at consensus-building bc he's been elected in red-red-red KY; and
