Thank you Jeff!

There are still more indictments necessary for sitting members of Congress -GOP Senators who voted to oppose the Election College results -actively participating in the scheme, GOP House members who have continued to attempt to defund, obstruct, and undermine the investigations, and of course Ginni Thomas and others. Justice must ring through the halls of Congress- and all who participated in the conspiracy, insurrection, or as accessories after the fact must be expelled and barred from ever holding public office again.

Why isn’t The Defendant barred from even running for office?!?!

because there's nothing in the Constitution that forbids it. 1920, Eugene Debs ran for president while sitting in prison and got 3% of the popular vote

A good reason to go out and vote against Trump, so that we do not look like the third world countries that vote corrupt criminals into power. The latest example being Israel. I certainly do not want that debacle.

Wonder how many votes the malignant narcissist will get while he is shitting in prison.

Expand full comment

Actually, thinking out loud Jeff -when you say "malignant narcissist" we know you mean Trump, but shouldn't there be something to disambiguate between Trump and Musk?

Expand full comment

Fortunately, the distinction is Musk doesn't yet have his hands on governmental powers. And he cannot run for president. Though he could for other office. But he's made himself a pariah so it's hard to see exactly enough votes for him.

His messing with Ukraine internet is too much power.

That is why I like the additional sociopath but then I learned recently that Musk removed the Ukraine's army from his StarLink satellite internet service...so back to they are both 2 useless inhuman fucks.

I do believe, as a retired therapist, that trump, at a minimum, has a raging personality disorder. He presents like the active alcoholics I have met: angry, petulant, blaming, manipulative, and running from the truth. It's hard for sober people to listen to him talk, without cringing. I can't stand the sound of his voice. It is interesting that his brother died from the effects of alcoholism. There are parallels. Trump has "judgment" and "insight," although not into his own behavior and whom it may harm. His insight and judgment have to do with maximizing the pain inflicted on and the damage he can cause to his "enemies." Like Nixon, he probably has a rich internal life, counting up his list of combatants. He is charismatic to the faithful. But he cares nothing for the human beings he solicits. They are just usable in the moment, to his own ends. And that qualifies as a trait of sociopathy.

Legal pundits say that an Insurrection conviction would have done that but for whatever reason that wasn’t charged, I completely trust Jack Smith’s judgment.

Considering those that were charged and convicted such as that flaccid one-eye dick, Rhodes from the Proud Boys & his cohorts it might be too hard to get 100% conviction as these easy to see cases vs the president.

I do see a RICO charge in his future, maybe?

It has been commented by ex federal prosecutors that the reason why the six are conspirators and not being indicted as well is so that they cannot delay his trial. Once he corroded douchebag (love that!) is convicted, they believe the six will be indicted and tried as well. Hoping that goes for the rest of the arrogant conspirators like Brooks, MTG, Gosar, Gaetz, Bannon, Stone, Boebert, Bannon, etc.

Trump’s trials, especially this one, will truly become “judgement day” for America. Our democracy will either survive, or not. And whatever the U.S. evolves into after a potential Trump victory, will be something that I’ll be sure to miss, - because I’ll move out of this country.

Trumpism is seeping over the border into Canada. We have a right wing rage-farmer who wants to be prime minister who is quite willing to brandish his love of trump around, and who has already run afoul of Elections Canada (an independent body that oversees elections in Canada) by being involved in a scheme to call voters in a district to tell them their polling place had changed and it had not. And now it seems like he might have cheated his way into his party’s leadership.

He could win the next election in 2025. There are enough stupid people who seem to like this. His talking points are right out of trumps playbook and he’s great at getting lies out in public where they do damage before they’re disproven.

BTW - the end of this indictment details some pretty damning evidence, too. Late on Jan. 6th he called several people in Congress to encourage them to do what they could to delay the certification. And he asked them to contact other members, too. Remember that part of his scheme was to delay the certification and therefore throw it to the Supremes- specifically Alito who would be the next justice to hear a case - and that would drag everything out until after the inauguration - and he would remain in office.

Expand full comment

I LOVE the way the indictment takes care of the blinded First Amendment whine still being propagated by Fox. Yes, he had the right to lie all he wanted. He could even pursue that lie into 60+ lawsuits. But that exhausted his rights. All the other guff is action, not speech.

If he is convicted and God Forbid wins the election, can he pardon himself? And if so, if a president can pardon himself, what's to stop a president from going around shooting people at random? It doesn't make sense

Expand full comment

No. Jennifer Rubin answered that very question this morning on her Q and A.

Expand full comment

No, a president cannot pardon himself. This is why Richard Nixon had to resign so Gerald Ford could pardon him.

What Frumpy’s plan is this. He’s going to get elected (hopefully NOT), then he’ll resign (if he’s convicted on any of these crimes), then the Vice President will take her Oath of Office, and her first order of business will be to immediately pardon Frumpy.

There’s only one small hitch to that giddy-up plan. A Presidential Pardon does NOT work for state crimes, imprisonments for violation of state charges. So, Frumpy will be looking at being sent to Georgia to Durand time in state prison. Then, hopefully on to Wisconsin, Arizona, and Michigan.

D. All of our rights are destroyed, gone, forever.

E. We will be under a Dictatorship.
