Not just when a trump appoints a donor to some cabinet position or department head, but to the actual elected federal offices themselves. A Republican House seat is basically just a 2 year gig of promoting yourself to get re-elected (exhibit A : MarjieT Greene)
It's also a descriptor for these second generation trust fund babies who only "work" in the family business, and the nepotism political babies who take over Grandpa (allegedly, Grassley is holding on for his grandson) or uncle's seat. Look at how many political dynasties have held the big chair: Adams, Harrison, Roosevelt (but they worked for the people), Bush, would have been Kennedy like it's left in a will.
The Supreme Court decision undoing affirmative action helped keep the ivies, and college in general, in the hands of the wealthy. I suspect this goes in hand with the push for high school students to go into trades, like mechanics and carpentry, not medicine or law. Keep the professional careers in the hands of the elite. We're good enough to fix their cars and build their houses, not good enough to design them.
