U.S. fighter jet crashes in Iran; search launched for 2 crew members

https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2026/04/03/f-15-crash-iran-missing/

so, the war seems to be going just swimmingly

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

the BBC is reporting it was shot down by Iran. I don't have a link for it

Leu2500's avatar

But the felon assured us that Iran's military capability was obliterated. Did he LIE?!

Daniel M Kimmel's avatar

Were his lips moving?

SeekingReason's avatar

Hard to believe trump would lie! Shock of the week! 🙄

What!!!Him lie!!!!Preposterous!!!!!!You lie!!!!!!!!

rlritt's avatar

Its possible he doesn't know and just made it up.

SethTriggs's avatar

So they still have an air force, apparently. The pricktator wouldn't lie...would he?

IMO, Trump and Friends are on distraction hyperdrive. That is, "Distract today from what you Distracted from yesterday". And those were just distractions from the day before and the day before that and so it spins round and round to make Americans dizzy and nauseous.

Trump must have hundreds of loyalists in and around the White House working on his constatant malevolence, trying to make America and the World believe Trump is Omnipotent. He's not Omnipotent!!

He a sinking stone of moldy crud.. Think of the witches in MacBeth. Trump is another reptile slowly boiling in the witches' caldron.

Be ready to protect the vote in November so the caldron does its job

SethTriggs's avatar

I assume they have the audacity to do this because of the protection of Murc’s Law and a captive rightwing media human centipede (that also has MSM segments.)

Megan Ross's avatar

Iran possibly fired off a missile from the ground. It's an ongoing investigation, but who knows...

Joyce's avatar

But but but.....I thought we owned the skies over Iran now?????? Iran's defeated, right????

Chris Jansing on MS-NOW asked Leon Panetta what he thought the current conversation in the Pentagon was, over this event. I can tell her: "Does this foundation flatter my skin tone? Anybody got some more Brycream I can use? Oh--fire that general: he's too competent!"

Frank's avatar

That’s what magats in Illinois call JB Pritzker. Is that antisemitism?

SethTriggs's avatar

No, that's something from Stephen Colbert as a nickname for the shambling goon that is currently occupying the White House. Though lately I am starting to transition to referring to him as America's Pilonidal Cyst.

And the KC 135 crash and six crew-members killed, plus five more damaged at a saudi airbase and an E Sentry spy plane…

It turns out spending a billion per day on this war is a low-balled figure, an untruth. The real cost might just be over 2 billion per day.

Anne's avatar

could have sworn the liar-in-chief said we had totally destroyed their military infrastructure... so how did they bring down a plane? hmmmmm

Gabbard will be next - she's female and a friend of Joe Kent.

One blog I read said he's getting rid of anyone who might support 25th amendment'ing him....

arne link's avatar

That's no a real loss. Tulsi probably is a true Russian asset, much like her boss.

Anne's avatar

none of them would be a loss....

barb's avatar

None of them are a loss but we are guaranteed that their replacements will be as bad if not worse, that's why i don't celebrate too much. There's a whole cesspool out there to choose from.

Anne's avatar

yeah. We need this whole administration to be removed.... (through peaceful measures, of course)

arne link's avatar

Excellent point.

Frank Nuts's avatar

Arne, my wife and I have thought she was a Putin asset when she was representing Hawaii

Unity In Defiance's avatar

Saves us the work of ousting them ourselves—so I guess that’s good?

Let’s not forget the absolutely bonkers whistleblower complaint that was “locked in a safe” by Tulsi Gabbard. A complaint so rattling to national security that it “couldn’t be shared.”

That story was only like 2 months ago ffs!!

For anyone who forgot:

“WASHINGTON-A U.S. intelligence official has alleged wrongdoing by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard in a whistleblower complaint that is so highly classified it has sparked months of wrangling over how to share it with Congress, according to U.S. officials and others familiar with the matter.

The filing of the complaint has prompted a continuing, behind-the-scenes struggle about how to assess and handle it, with the whistleblower's lawyer accusing Gabbard of stonewalling the complaint. Gabbard's office rejects that characterization, contending it is navigating a unique set of circumstances and working to resolve the issue.

A cloak-and-dagger mystery reminiscent of a John le Carré novel is swirling around the complaint, which is said to be locked in a safe. Disclosure of its contents could cause "grave damage to national security," one official said. It also implicates another federal agency beyond Gabbard's, and raises potential claims of executive privilege that may involve the White House, officials said.

The complaint was filed last May with the intelligence community's inspector general, according to a November letter that the whistleblower's lawyer addressed to Gabbard. The letter, which was reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, accused Gabbard's office of hindering the dissemination of the complaint to lawmakers by failing to provide necessary security guidance on how to do so.”

devourerofpancakes's avatar

What's going to happen to that if Gabbard is fired?

Daniel M Kimmel's avatar

Re:25th - Not likely. The majority of his bootlickers in the Cabinet wouldn't have the guts to do it.

Jayme Wolworth's avatar

Or anyone that is female apparently. But good on him, they are all just unqualified sycophants.

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

In one recent media encounter he blamed Leavitt for his low poll numbers ("Bad PR") and asked "Should I keep her?" So she's hyping his superior literacy out of raw desperation to survive. He can't even read his teleprompters.

Paula Dean's avatar

I can believe that he's getting rid of anyone who MIGHT support the 25th Ammendment, and of course, his MEN would never turn on him - whereas women have often betrayed him. *he doesn't sexually abuse his male compatriots, except to denigrate their 'manliness' when they display any type of compassion for others, or worse - they say something less than flattering about him.

Joanne Rossmassler Fritz's avatar

I read that too! Plus, temporary Acting Secretaries like Todd Blanche can’t vote for the 25th Amendment (because they weren’t approved by Congress).

Anne's avatar

actually, from a quick search - acting secretaries are allowed to vote. but maybe that could be tied up in the courts.

https://lawreview.law.ucdavis.edu/sites/g/files/dgvnsk15026/files/media/documents/54-online-Krishnamurthi_Salib1.pdf

Joanne Rossmassler Fritz's avatar

Thanks, Anne! Then the other Substack post I read earlier was wrong.

well, we'll see what ACTUALLY happens if anyone actually has the guts to invoke the 25th...

They probably crashed due to confusion about the mission, one thinking they were blowing shit up and one thinking the war was over and they were heading home. Let's hope they are found quickly and returned home to rest, recover and wait for a lucid, sentient Commander-in-Chief.

Update: it appears the two airmen have been captured by Iranians and there is no clear evidence of whether they are alive or not. At this moment, there is no one I would want less than Trump as Commander-in-chief. Every action he takes, every decision he makes, will be driven by what is best for Trump: he simply cares not about the lives of courageous American servicemen and servicewomen. My heart aches for those waiting at home for news of their loved ones and wish they had a more rational, empathetic DoD to work for their release.

Malcolm Nance discussed this jet attack on his daily war coverage today.

https://malcolmnance.substack.com/p/us-iran-warcast-day-36-live-wmalcolm?utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=web

He said as much.

According to Iran War Dispatch with Tim Mak Substack,

A US General "KELLOGG SUGGESTS NEW DEFENSE ALLIANCE: In his interview on Fox News on Thursday, retired Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg called NATO ineffective in the Middle East war, and suggested that the U.S. create a new defense alliance.

Among possible members, he named Japan, Australia, and some European countries, such as Poland, Germany, and Ukraine, given its experience on the battlefield."

Why is Germany getting this honor? Is it because Germany seems willing to participate in War crimes? What is up with that?

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

General Kellogg is blowing smoke up his own ass. The U.S. and Israel have been committing war crimes all over Iran, Gaza, and Lebanon. Not even the loser members of the "Board of Peace" want to join our club.

Joyce's avatar

On CNN, some talking head actually said, "Here's a good jobs report released today, and what are we talking about instead? Downed pilots in Iran...."

I had to change the channel before I shattered my TV--I can't afford a new one. Jesus Fucking Christ.

Mwfeiger's avatar

Let's hope the Iranians are planning to ignore our Secretary of Defense, (I mean War), mandate to show the enemy "no quarter". Let them show the world that it is the U.S. that is barbaric, not Iran.

rlritt's avatar

Again, can't like this. AARRGH

Thank you Jeff.

Bondi should be disbarred.

Every day the Epstein/Trump/Maxwell files were not released was another day Bondi willfully broke the law.

Every malicious prosecution, every dismissal of career justice department prosecutors, every immoral and unethical action should be addressed.

Firing should only be step one for her and every member of the criminally corrupt Trump Administration.

Ann Anderson's avatar

I read that the Florida bar assoc. is investigating her.

Linda McCaughey's avatar

Much better than smelling Daddy's ripe diaper.

George A. Polisner's avatar

Reports of deceptive practices and fraud by Donald J. Trump and his Trump University business unit had been piling up for several years in states across the nation, including in Florida.

The state attorney general in New York moved in, filing a https://cases.justia.com/new-york/other-courts/2014-2014-ny-slip-op-32685-u.pdf?ts=1413837035 in 2013 that https://static01.nyt.com/newsgraphics/documenttools/258cff96368329e1/ba8f54c4-full.pdf Mr. Trump and his for-profit trade school of “engaging in persistent fraudulent, illegal and deceptive conduct,” even though by that point Trump University was already out of business.

The Florida attorney general’s office, which Pam Bondi had taken over in 2011, handled it differently.

She publicly acknowledged that her office was examining complaints about Trump University, but it decided against a formal investigation.

The decision came soon after Mr. Trump, through his family foundation, sent a check for $25,000 to a political action committee associated with Ms. Bondi, who was running for a second term.

Florida’s was not the only state attorney general’s office to decide against taking up the Trump University matter.

Joe Witkowski's avatar

Does the Florida Bar Association certify bartenders for drink-making ability?

Jane's avatar

Mingo's avatar

Thank you George. The DOJ was supposed to administer justice for the American people. Instead it was turned into the personal legal firm of Don the Con, with his former personal attorneys at the helm. Karma is coming for Pam Bondi's law license. I'm old enough to remember what happened to John Mitchell, Nixon's former AG. May she go to jail for the injustice she inflicted on the Epstein survivors and the injustice on the American people who paid her salary. Boo fucking hoo Spammy Jo.

George A. Polisner's avatar

Yes. Hope she follows John Mitchell’s footsteps into a lengthy prison term.

Jane's avatar

But then could Trump pardon her?

George A. Polisner's avatar

True Jane. Hoping the next President and AG will be committed to justice instead of crime, corruption, pardons, and self-dealing. Also, if Minnesota were to find her guilty of obstruction of justice- then the criminal elect couldn’t pardon her.

Linda McCaughey's avatar

Actually, I'm with Theresa. That would do all of us more good than locking her up.

Theresa Breach's avatar

She should do a DEAL and spill her guts !

George A. Polisner's avatar

True. Although she might fight Aileen Cannon for the criminal elect’s post-Melania pre-nuptial.

I worked at Mount Vernon in the '70s, and I met a lot of celebrities. Fess Parker, who played Daniel Boone, was one of the nicest, most respectful of men towards a young girl who sold the MV guidebook for "50 cents plus two cents tax."

Bondi has always been crooked and greedy. She worked as a lobbyist, representing Qatar (making $115,000 per month) and a private prison company accused of inadequate care of prisoners, after serving as the Florida AG, where she dropped investigating Trump University after Drump Foundation donated $25,000 to her.

I wonder if she was one of the folks making bundles off the market-manipulation funds?

Bondi ignored the Epstein/Maxwell/Trump survivors, instead hiding the proof, ridiculing Congress, and engaging in illegal activity by watching what the House investigative members were searching through on one of the four computers they were allowed to access for a very limited time. I hope Bondi, like Nixon's AG, Mitchell, is found guilty of conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and, of course, perjury.

What was once one of our proudest achievements, an unbiased DoJ, has become an international disgrace.

Blanche, the Maxwell tamer, will be a further erosion. Gotta wonder how far down the hole the "drill baby drill" will descend to protect the GoldenGolem.

Steve in SoCal's avatar

Fun fact: The USAG doesn't need to be a lawyer, or even to have attended law school. If Biden has appointed a pit bull Malcolm Nance as AG instead of Merrick Garland, we wouldn't be in this current mess.
