I've been doing it since the 1980s, and I can tell you that the kind of person who believes bullshit about abortion up to 9 months or whatever really thinks abortion is murder and their mind isn't going to be changed. All we can do is keep them from harassing women. We have told them several times on the sidewalk that if murders are happening in the building, they should call the police. They never do. 😂 I did see one of them attempt to tell a police officer who was already there about something else that murders were happening in the building, and he basically told them he wasn't going to go into that with them.
Here's a story you'll enjoy: This past Saturday morning, one of my co-defenders who is Jewish was telling an evangelical Protestant protester that Jesus Christ was married and had children, because if he hadn't been, he would not have been able to be a rabbi, and the Bible clearly identifies Jesus as having been a rabbi. This particular evangelical Protestant protester is a 46-year-old male virgin, and he was coming completely unglued at the idea of the son of God doing the nasty with any woman, even his wife. I really wish you had been there, because we could have laughed our asses off and then headed out to have a beer once we ran all the protesters off the sidewalk, which we did by noon. If you're ever in Kansas City, look me up.
I did clinic escort duty in the 90's, and I remember the office supply truck rolling up with a delivery. The protestors immediately crowded around like swarming monkeys peering in the truck, while the delivery guy was inside. Suddenly one of them shrieked "That's where they take your baby away." The guy came out empty-handed. I've never forgotten how crazy they are.
