"Dylanisation" refers to that one bottle of Bud Lite with a picture of Dylan Mulvaney on it

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

I STAND BY MY COMPLETELY INACCURATE REPORTING. isn't that how a wingnut would do it

Mandy Kilpatrick's avatar

Jeff, you are creating popular culture right now.......

Julie Tallard Johnson's avatar

Yup. There would be no conversation or feedback loop. You have a good share of typos too, which I love.

Gail Bauman's avatar

You gotta double down on it, Jeff. Lordy how I've come to hate that phrase...

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

is this where I do an Emily Litella voice and say "never mind"? gee, it would have helped if google had actually told me that, instead of just pointing back to that clip

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

I guess this is what I get for being a hundred years old and having no idea what goes on in popular culture these days

Margaret's avatar

I'm pretty sure I don't want to know what's going on in popular culture.

Openly Fae's avatar

Speaking as a hermit, I still don't know what any of it is because I still don't know what the actual issue with Bud Light is as I don't drink, hang around anyone who drinks beer, or get news anywhere but Substack (unless it's video game news).

Hooray for avoiding people!

LORI D's avatar

I sure don't hang around with anyone who drinks Bud light. (But I respect their right to drink it as long as they don't try to force me to.

Amalga's avatar

Well, it is a reasonable stand in for water if none is available. There is that.

Wendy's avatar

As a fellow hermit, if I whispered "Tears of the Kingdom" in your ear, would that snap you to attention?

Openly Fae's avatar

Anyone sneaking close enough to my ear to whisper anything without ending up on the floor would get my attention. Attempting to sneak up on me is ill-advised and succeeding has historically...not ended well.

But I don't recognise the phrase, no.

Wendy's avatar

LOL, it was supposed to make you laugh because it's game. A Zelda game from the Nintendosphere. Well, that didn't work out as planned...

Tama2U's avatar

I wouldn’t have figured it out either. 😉

77 Square Miles's avatar

"popular culture" is an oxymoron Jeff. You're all good with the times!

Steve B's avatar

Jesse Watters is in no way, "popular culture." Asshole Culture, yes. They still think their bubble is the majority. Good.

Don'tBlameTheDog's avatar

You mean like that the current iteration of Google sucks? As in it ain't your spring chicken Google....

Steve B's avatar

Google's fine. I don't expect it to pick up on a stupid made-up word, by stupid Jesse Watters, within a few days.

SPW's avatar

Not to worry. You’re probably healthier than those of us who tend to clutter our minds with minutiae and detritus. Maybe not as fun, but healthier.

Sky 777's avatar

Thanks. I had no idea either. Glad it is nothing to do with Bob.

Reminds me of a line in a Paul Simon song, “When you say Dylan they think you’re talking about Dylan Thomas, who ever he was. The man ain’t got no culture. But it’s alright, everybody must get stoned.”

I am writing those lines by memory, BTW.

Now I have to go google Dylan Mulvaney.

Sigh. Life used to be more simple.

un poco loco's avatar

Yep, I've spent the last half-hour or so being Robert MacNamara'd into submission, since I saw that pic of yet another generic Fox blond with a chyron saying "Dylanization". (PSR&T was the very first album I ever bought myself -- it, along with my very small hoard comprising 3 Beatles 45s and Beaker Street on KAAY, kept me semi-sane through high school.)

I just hope Sporky never hears it. She would immediately go find herself a harmonica and introduce a bill requiring Ayn Randing and branding all left-handed people as Communists, perhaps even literally. And there is a sizable portion of the nutjobs who would absolutely go for it. Jeff called it: they do have a real talent for spinning moral panics out of celebrity farts.

Oh TC. You have taken me back.

Time it was, and what a time it was, it was

A time of innocence, A time of confidences

Long ago, it must be, I have a photograph

Preserve your memories; They're all that's left you

Kay-El's avatar

Yep, I knew that’s what that made up word had to refer to.

Steve B's avatar

And all I had to do was come down here instead of spending 30 minutes researching and finally landing on some wacked-out, fucked-up Facebook page that ran the whole Watters clip to find out that moron was talking about Dylan Mulvaney. They are the MOST precious snowflakes of all -- Target is selling "rainbow stuff"!!!!!!! THE CHILDREN!!!!!!! What assholes!

I did find this story about it pretty snarky too: https://www.lgbtqnation.com/2023/11/fox-news-claims-target-is-sexualizing-christmas-for-children-in-unhinged-segment/

Randy Woodall's avatar

lol, wasn't that a whole big stupid thing? Besides which there's the fact that Bid Light is a really bad beer and people who drank it did so because it was reasonably priced. What do they do now?

I don't know this new Dylan but I'd bet Bob Dylan is bemused by the whole non-issue.

Ronna is the bigliest embarrassment to women world wide. I’d like to kick her ass into the farthest galaxy possible.

Karen Livolsi's avatar

Ronna “pudding-head” McDaniel has pulled so hard on the “Republican Bong of Delusion” it has actually caused the complete collapse of cognitive functioning usually associated with realizing you’ve wet your pants.

Was she left out of the loop that every piece of anti-abortion legislation put on the ballot for voters to decide has failed? Just for shits and giggles? Did someone drop acid in her morning cup of bullshit?

She is gross, negligent, cowardly and pathetic.

I think there’s a jail cell for “Ole Puddin-head” which she’ll occupy before the end of this decade. Keep talking, patron saint of morons, idiots and imbeciles.

Elisabeth Iler's avatar

Thank you, Karen, for your deeply moving words of wisdom. There are do many puddin' heads, so little time to space laser them to the farthest galaxy. Maybe PH muskwad can help?!! Your Republican Bong of Delusion: sheer poetry. 💖😂🤣

Shawn's avatar

Geez ... and that Candace person too. And Judge Jeanine and all the other valid fox babes.

Steve B's avatar

😂😂😂 I called them Zircon and Burlap! At the time, I think I tweeted, "Zircon down."

There’s this 👹.

And it is soooooo on target

So much stupid to choose from. There was good news. Space X rocket experienced “unexpected disassembly”; that’s a lot like not-twitter.

Rick Calegari's avatar

Karma is a bitch. Muskrat makes idiotic fascist anti-semitic comments, loses IBM, Apple and the European Union and then his rocket blows to hell. What's next for the richest asshole in the world?

Old Man's avatar

The formerly great NYT headline today: “SpaceX Makes Progress in 2nd Launch of Giant Moon and Mars Rocket” kinda like “the Hindenburg make landfall in New Jersey”

Sharon Buchbinder, PhD's avatar

"Johnny 5, alive. No disassemble! NO DISASSEMBLE!"

Cassandra Here's avatar

A wonderful moment in live TV

PTW's avatar

Yeah, except we taxpayers are forking out $2 BILLION A YEAR to the Space Nazi for his little exploding rocket experiments.

Rhoda Ozen's avatar

So many words for saying Space X rocket blew up...

Susan Keefer's avatar

Thank you, Jeff. 🤣

“I’ll say one thing, though: you gotta admire Fox News for their ability to spin moral panics out of celebrity farts.”

PS: When will the U.S. stop subsidizing the Space Nazi?

Deb's avatar

Great question!!! I've been wondering that as well. I think the government should evaluate every single program that it supports with Muskovite and any other billionaire...especially the ones that have to do with our nation's security or defense...this should be a no-brainer!

Someone like Musk wants to rule the world...he's not just interested in this country...he's everywhere, and he doesn't need any help from the US government!

Cassandra Here's avatar

Is Ukraine still dependent on a Space X satellite?

Susan Keefer's avatar

Senator Elizabeth Warren has started an investigation.

“Congress needs to investigate what’s happened here, and whether we have adequate tools to make sure foreign policy is conducted by the government and not by one billionaire,” Warren, D-Mass., said Monday

Cassandra Here's avatar

Thanks. I think I remember seeing this investigation, and it’s much needed. So much information to keep track of, that’s why I love reading the comments here. (And, yay!, Elizabeth Warren.)

Susan Keefer's avatar

I agree and yay Elizabeth Warren.

Elisabeth Iler's avatar

Double triple Yay for Elizabeth Warren💖🥰

The human world is about stupidity, greed, evil, plastic and make-believe gods. The dog and cat world is about survival, food and love. The animal world's concerns are survival, food and reproducing. The plant world's needs are water, soil and sun.

We humans need to go.

I suggest everyone watch Life on Our Planet with Morgan Freeman narrating. It puts our petty lives into a perceptive like you've never thought of before.

In my world, you would be hosting Meet The Press. Too bad about the gap between my world and this one.

Jeff: need you to assign a name to Tuberville’s ear lobes please.

Its usage in a sentence: "Look at those tubervilles on Tuberville".

What a week of “Stupid Is as Stupid Does!”

This bunch of clowns 🤡 are a fantastic pick. But, if I might add just one to the list.

I think that the justice in Denver, Colorado deserves a “Stupid” recognition. At least an “Honorable Mention”! She actually ruled that Trumputin has in fact caused the insurrection at the Nations Capitol on January 6th, 2021, but he was also allowed to remain on the ballot as a candidate!

Now, how “STUPID” is that!

According to WaPo:

“Denver District Judge Sarah B. Wallace wrote that Trump “acted with the specific intent to disrupt the Electoral College certification of President Biden’s electoral victory through unlawful means; specifically, by using unlawful force and violence.” And, she concluded, “that Trump incited an insurrection on January 6, 2021 and therefore ‘engaged’ in insurrection.””

“Adopted in 1868, three years after the end of the Civil War, the 14th Amendment granted citizenship to those born or naturalized in the United States and guaranteed civil rights to all Americans, including those who had been enslaved. The amendment’s lesser-known Section 3 was aimed at limiting the power of former Confederates by barring from office those who had sworn an oath to the Constitution and later engaged in insurrection.

Although Wallace found that Trump engaged in insurrection, she determined Section 3 does not apply to him. Section 3 refers to some offices by name as well as those who are an “officer of the United States,” but does not specifically mention the presidency.
Wallace determined those who wrote Section 3 “did not intend to include the President as ‘an officer of the United States.’”

The judge also determined that the amendment’s provision technically applied to those who swear an oath to “support” the Constitution. The oath Trump took when he was sworn in after he was elected in 2016 was to “preserve, protect and defend” the Constitution.

Wallace wrote she did not want to disqualify someone from office “without a clear, unmistakable indication” that that was what those who wrote the 14th Amendment intended.”

So, if the President of the United States is NOT an Officer of the United States. Maybe she should sit and re-read “Section 3 of the 14th Amendment”! It specifically states “President”.

SPW's avatar

She was laying the groundwork for the appeal that will likely make it to the Supreme Court. The reasoning was that 45 couldn’t be kept off the PRIMARY ballot but because this decision stated specifically that he caused the insurrection 45 most likely could be kept off the Colorado ballot and very likely the national ballot. The word “insurrection” in the decision is the operative word.

I’m aware. I realized I screwed the pooch after I posted it. Oh well, I see who’s paying attention to what they’re reading, I guess.

I appreciate you kettjj in bg ne know if my error, and that was also after re-reading the WaLo article, and re-reading my post prior to hitting “Post”.

A special poem for the Denver District Judge :

Though some at my aversion smile,

I cannot love the crocodile.

Its conduct does not seem to me

Consistent with sincerity …

A. E. Housman

This makes as much sense as the Judge’s ruling yesterday.

Daniel L. Cooper's avatar

Yes, it does, Carol. Thanks for sharing this! I like it, and I’m not a ‘poem person’ by any stretch if the word!

Just a little concerned here that "hasn't a snowball's chance" is exactly the kind of thing that could get Chansley elected. Plus he's a jailbird, AND he's got the same howl as shitmonkeys Bobo and Ms. Three Toes. Looks like a trifecta to me. And, Sen. Hawlin' Ass could teach him how to run.

Openly Fae's avatar

I'll be surprised if he's not a Presidential candidate in 2028. TV producers run this country after all.

Deb's avatar

Probably a reality TV series first...just to make him seem like a good guy.

Ronna McDaniel rearranged her face bc TFG only likes attractive handmaids, and she only knows how to mop the floors with the gowbs (good ol white boys) hateful rhetoric. She is a traitor to our gender and yours. Clueless Ewe.

Mary Virginia Hughes's avatar

Oh, and Elon. So I follow an investment advisor bunch every day and investors in Tesla and all of Elon's things to invest in are freaking out over him. They're not dumping the stock just yet but they wish he'd shut his effin mouth what with the rank and high level antisemitism, plus they think he's off on his Twitter freak-on more than paying attention to business, as he continues to mentally and socially deteriorate as well. Good. He's a corporate Ramaswamy guy type. Pure idiot. And annoying to the max.

Steve B's avatar

YES!! I want to see "Ramaswamy" become a noun, adjective, and a description of sheer stupidity.

"Man, did Musk ramaswamy that Twitter platform!"

"Is that a ramaswamy in your pants or are you just trying to get me to vote for you?"

"All you're babbling about is the ramaswamization of our politics, AGAIN!"

"You scum."

Kay-El's avatar

Ronna sure is smart for doubling down on an issue that Americans have already smacked the GOP with a 2x4 over. 🙄 When will they ever learn? The 12th of never. (Apologies to Peter Paul and Mary and Johnny Mathis)

Mary Virginia Hughes's avatar

Two things would be good to happen right now. The Republicans don't come off their idiocy about abortion and the people who feel threatened by them all come out and vote again. All of them. I'm okay with their being stupid if they get punished for it.
