I can’t stop thinking about Jim Jones, the cult leader that convinced 1000’s of people to become his followers based on scary tactics - fake religion - conspiracy theories - lies and gaslighting. In the end he murdered over 900 people, including children and the infirm. He lured them by making promises that they would all be living in paradise in Guyana, that he would make their lives ‘better’ when in reality he created a hell hole and held people hostage to forced labor and sexual abuse. We’ve gotten used to comparing the orange fuckface to Hitler, but he may be closer to Jim Jones and his cult worshippers. When you’re in a cult you’ve totally lost the ability to think critically, seek information, and to recognize danger when it’s staring you in the face. These followers were so deep down the well that they no longer wanted to save and protect their own children. This is happening in the MAGA movement now and even Republicans who are still ‘liking’ the Demented fart machine have convinced themselves that they can get something good out of him for themselves. They are all so deluded that they will attempt to kill off our democracy and harm scores of loved ones in the process.

I have thought often, but not obsessively, about Jim Jones over these 6-8 years or so when I would hear a MAGA person. Over the last year and especially the last 6 months or so, I think about Jim Jones every single day. I was 25 years old when Jonestown happened. I was in shock then to think many hundreds of people would do something so insane. Now, at 71, to see seemingly rational, and some even moral, humans, do this, has rocked my world in the worst way possible. I cannot believe we are living in 1930’s Germany 2.0, but I will no longer say never. It can and may well happen here. Now seeing the Supreme Court and Judge Cannon, et al. on board with Trump 100%, has me believing it WILL happen here…………

What have we become? I know Benjamin Franklin said God helps those who help themselves, but I am praying for divine intention too to rid us from this madman and his people and this madness.

Jim Jones…………. I never could have imagined millions would follow such a deluded and morally bankrupt madman like DJT………

No. That wasn't them. You're thinking of Ethan Crumbley's parents who ran almost to Canada before they were caught. He shot four kids at his high school in Michigan. He was with his father buying "his" Sig Sauer, and his stupid mother texted him to "not get caught" looking for ammo online during class. The teachers/staff had been warning about his disturbing notes and pictures, but administration refused to search his backpack. The rest is the same sad story as everywhere.

How right you are, Marie. The details blur. I wasn't even sure of that last statement that the school did not search/would not search Ethan's backpack. Because in virtually all the stories there is a similar detail; teachers warning, admin. not acting. Columbine for me is the one that is the clearest. I think because as a parent it was the first to get my full attention. They have cascaded from there.

Candace Owens: will say anything for attention. You've got to be LAME to get fired by the likes of Ben Shapiro. Rittenhouse family: not karma so much as foreseeable consequences. Pimped-out Bentley (rumor was the Trump's "modeling agency" was actually an escort service, so following in Grandpa Drumpf's footsteps): a douchebag and his money are soon parted (then he whines about unfairness and sticks a siphon in YOUR pocket). Missouri lawsuit: this, Folks, is the overture to the play entitled "The 2024 Election is Rigged," a musical in 3 acts, book by Trump, lighting and rigging by lower level (state) actors on orders from the TNC (formerly RNC). It's not going to get traction, but it's the starting gun on creating doubt.
