One of the (backup) theories of Trump's attorneys is that the three branches of government are co-equal. In which case, a sitting President is not subject to the judgment of the Supreme Court. From a practical standpoint, the Executive is charged with enforcing the law (including the law as interpreted by the Court). What if he refuses to enforce the Supreme Court's rulings? (Irony.) What if he refuses to leave office at the end of his term? Then he is unaccountable for any crime--official or private. This is Putin's Russia.

One of the (backup) theories of Trump's attorneys is that the three branches of government are co-equal. In which case, a sitting President is not subject to the judgment of the Supreme Court.
