It’s so very cute MAGAS seem to think food costs will go down with Donald in office. Please tell me when the farm workers are kicked out of our country and adding at least 30% tariffs for goods from foreign countries…. How are those actions going to make food costs cheaper? Please be logical in your MAGA replies.. 🤮

Muskrat obtained his US citizenship in 2002. Personally, I think his citizenship should be revoked and he should be deported back to So Africa. His Tesla plant in SE Austin, Texass was caught dumping their wastewater into Texasses Colorado River. This river feeds into a few lakes and is used by ranchers, farmers, fishermen and municipalities. He got a slap on his wimpy wrist and a hefty fine (sure it didn’t hurt his pocketbook); but then this is Texass, where money talks and bs walks.

First: rejoice?? WTAF??? It's OK that the country craters and who-knows-how-many people are homeless and starving, if Dems theoretically will win elections down the line? Second, the cult is going to blame Jewish space lasers or alien mind control or Joe Biden’s evil influence, NEVER mango man.

I can go back five generations, and my family has never grown their own food to sustain us over even one year, never mind multiple years. Having the land for even a vegetable garden is a privilege. Assuming the time it takes to do the work it takes. Containers aren't going to hack it.

Been there/done that. Still attempting to do it, out on the balcony where I now live. First off, it is quite an expensive undertaking - buying the seed or the starter plants, buying the soil, buying (in my case) buckets to fill and plant in. You need a space for all of the above that will provide ample sunshine. It is exciting when you see results - but - the yield is very small, and disappointing. One year I got enough green beans to cook one batch. Now that I live in an apartment, the only thing I've had real success with is tomatoes. Not to be a killjoy, but container gardening is never going to sustain even one person, much less a family.

The summer heat has been gone up that I gave up on growing anything but herbs the last 3 years. In pots that i could barely manage to shift from sun to shade. The shade was too hot for my tarragon and basil. Even in the greenhouse, plants baked. We got rid of our grass in the front yard 10 years ago and made room for tomatoes, squash and cukes, and carved a space for green beans that thrived in the back, but it got too hot for all of them. Our neighbor grows peppers 🫑 🌶️ but I can’t eat them. We also have a ton of oak, fir and pines, and the native squirrels disappeared the year it hit 117F and have finally made a comeback. Thankful we’re well above flood level, and no land slides yet, but a seasonal stream of rushing out back that appears after heavy rains, it’s normally underground. I lament. I turned off NPR for good (maybe some mornings with car talk on the way to the farmers market) and did not once again listen to Bush's voice. None of it, not 911, none. Zip. Zero. Nil. If we turn our attention to the people who will need helping living through the next several years and supporting the kids who are protesting on our behalf (I'm not well enough to make a nuisance of myself anymore) then we will get through it. I drove past the Home Depot three days in a row last week. At least fifty people were hanging around the parking lot every single day. This is well known throughout Texas that this is where these people gather looking for work. I said to my husband, “Greg Abbott is such a piece of lying shit. These people have been coming here for years and ICE knows exactly where they are, but they don’t do a damned thong because Texas needs day laborers.” I can’t wait to see what old Hot Wheels is going to do—deport all the undocumented which are the most in texas than any other state, or let the entire economy of Texas collapse. well, raw milk IS safe if you boil it before you drink it! (that tip came from someone who apparently follows RFKjr, appropriately enough lol.)

Yep. Home pasteurization beats factory pasteurization any old day. So much healthier!

Lived on a ranch, drank milk from our cows. We had a cream skimmer and a pasteurizer. I don’t think we ever drank the milk raw, as in right out of the cow.

I suspect the higher cost of Cheetos and beer, rather than lettuce, is what will get their attention.

I saw a really good TikTok about coddling MAGAs. It likened them to drug addicts and those, like NPR and anyone else saying we really need to reach out to them and understand them blah blah blah, are like the enablers who keep giving drug addicts second, third, a hundred chances to fix themselves and then are surprised when they keep going for the dope. MAGA cultists are addicted to trump, elon, the whole notion of "owning the libs." The only thing that will help them is to hit rock bottom.

"Reaching out" to someone who thinks the earth is flat , vaccines are bad, or that trump wasn't found guilty etc is never going to work. They live in their own fantasy land and until they come back to reality, we cannot get through to them. How can you find common ground with someone when you live on separate planets?

It just sucks that them hitting rock bottom is going to drag the rest of us down with them.

Speaking of WAPO fuckery, "Why DOGE is an essential and important idea." by Fareed Zakaria. He goes on, "Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, who will be in charge of DOGE, are both brilliant, and the federal government has clearly become too expansive and its writ too cumbersome." So Zakaria is just another clown sucking up to the oligarchs, and celebrating the looming depression to follow: "But I support the impulse to reform — and not just because I think it will force greater scrutiny and efficiency on government, which needs it...the central lesson of macroeconomic policy in recent decades has been that government spending now constitutes so large a part of the economy that drastically cutting it can lead to a downward spiral of reduced consumer spending and declining confidence. Your expenditure is my income." He closes with, "With DOGE, we might finally get an effort to actually deliver on the central Republican promise of the past 90 years. And we will find out what America thinks of it." Can you imagine celebrating a fucking depression all in the name of "goverment efficiency?" This really means oligarchs can operate without regard to health and environmental regard, etc., such as Musk dumping toxic waste in Austin's Colorado River: https://www.wsj.com/business/autos/elon-musk-tesla-environment-1263cd60

I bet we all agree that there's waste in the government. BUT the answer to attacking the problem is not with the Trifecta of Morons (Musk, MTG and Vivek). Out of the 3, I have a visceral reaction when I see Musk's face. I hate him the most.

I have heard NO one talk about how the federal government has been prevented from instituting efficiencies because of very old, outdated technology. Bombs not computers.

NPR and PBS have been into bothsiding for a long time now. They are so yypersensitive about being accused of being humanists that they bend over backwards to placate the lunatics.

it's the toleration paradox - reasonable people trying to Find Common Ground with lunatics. THEY never try that with us libs. So the whole culture is shifting (galloping) towards far rightism (otherwise known as.............)
