Same here. It emphasizes how shitty the media continues to be but there's hope when folks like the Philadelphia Inquier step up to the plate and spell it out the way it should be. If only more would follow this route of responsible and truthful journalism instead of the fucked up pro ferret head bullshit. That's what's needed here instead of stories that are fueled by corporate greed and pro MAGA nonsense.

Rick, the right wing bought out every major media conglomerate and they are complicit in crimes and inciting sedition. They intensionally lie and that whips up the brainless MAGA to do violent terrorism.

We need BIDEN IN solidly, and a fool-proof congress (which I believe we can get) then we will DEMAND fist pounding relentless accountability for trump, SCOTUS, MEDIA and corporate money whores. Any Democrat objecting needs to be swiftly removed! INVESTIGATIONS should start NOW by Durbin against the Fascist/Christian Nationalist judges. I wrote to Durbin Demanding this as an Illinois resident!

Keep Bernie visable, get Katie Porter, AOC, TLAIB, Jayapal, Barbara Lee, Erc Swalwell, & others as the Investigators. Fuck having any traitor republicans on the committee for the sake of looking fair! Way too late for that!

They already hired Will Lewis, he was hiring his crony Robert Winnett, who they have put the kibosh to after the outcry. Lewis threw out Sally Buzbee as executive editor, (who is way too much "both-sides" blind for me,) and were going to replace her with two of Lewis's tabloid cronies. I loved the WaPo I take it's being whored out to the right rather personally.

I read all of the lines, and watched the videos. I’m ridin’ with Biden! I’m older than he is, and mentally sound. My bloodwork was perfect, and except for arthritis in my spine, I’m healthy. Joe can do this, his doctor said he was fit to govern, I won’t support anyone but Biden/Harris.

Btw, why does tfg need to pick a VP? Could it be because his old VP says he isn’t fit to serve?

Just found this post so far:

Mia Farrow 🏳️‍🌈 🌻🇺🇸💙

@MiaFarrow

Bob Woodward says “there must be an explanation” for Biden’s debate performance - as he was vigorous and coherent next day and by all accounts functions extraordinarily well in the WH - making grueling trips to meet with world leaders, making complex decisions each day. Woodward wonders did he just have a fight with someone close to him? - “something happened” (He was on Ali Velshi also).

Expand full comment

What kind of foul play?

Expand full comment

I’m not sure if it was Woodward, I did hear his spot on msnbc, but someone suggested maybe a sedative in his food?? He did have a cold, maybe he took some kind of cold medicine that had antihistamine in it? That could account for the slow responses, confusion, dull facial expression, maybe

I'm going to stay the course for Biden. He's the best President in some time. Obama was good, Biden's achievements out weight Obama's

Expand full comment

I am not concerned about the debate outcome, but I am concerned with what the debate revealed about the President’s mental acuity and his ability to function effectively for another four years.

Expand full comment

He’s never been a great public speaker and has always struggled with a stutter — and when he’s just returned from the G7 meeting with a cold and is being bombarded by lies and having his mic cut early it got worse. But if President Biden does slow down in the 2nd term and ends up delegating more, so what? He’s got great advisors and has been delegating. And if, heaven forbid, he is unable to complete his 2nd term, we have a well-prepared, brilliant VP who’s more than competent to take over. The list of young, white, virtually all male Dem flavors of the moment that keep popping up as alternatives is racist, sexist, and ageist. And that’s even before comparing the 2 candidates, one of whom will be president next Jan 20, on commitment to democracy, the American people, the environment, our international partners, & righting the wrongs of the past v a candidate with clear signs of frontal lobe dementia who wants create a ChristoFascist 3rd Reich that’s also a franchise of Putin’s Russia.

Abbi-exactly! He has a very good administration. Here’s what he’s done so far. Pass it along, use it, copy it, it’s to share!

*Biden passed much needed legislation after trump mangled the pandemic, destroyed the economy and led a deadly INSURRECTION to overthrow the government.

*Biden lowered unemployment from 6.3% to 3.5% and has held the unemployment rate below 4% for the longest period in 50 years!

*Biden created 15 million jobs in a little over 3 years (A Record).

*Bidenomics grew the economy at 3.1% last year and reduced inflation to 1.9% from 9%.

*Biden cut child poverty in half through the American Rescue Plan

*Re-joined the Paris Agreement to fight Climate Change

*Provided $10k-$20k college debt relief for those who earn under $125k/yr.

*Biden united the West to help Ukraine fight Russia.

*Biden passed the first gun safety legislation in thirty years.

The following legislation was also passed during Biden's first term:

*bipartisan Infrastructure legislation

*The Electoral Count Act

*Science and CHIPS Act

*Respect for Marriage Act

*American Rescue Plan

*PACT Act (expands VA health benefits)

*Inflation Reduction Act (2022)

*Biden cracked down on junk fees

*Banned non-competes for workers

*Banned medical debt from Credit Reports

*Capped drug prices for seniors

*Expanded overtime pay

*Capped credit card fees

*Hyper-focusing on one thing is dangerous when it excludes ANY of the many accomplishments that have been made despite an insane and authoritarian republican cult party.

Excellent info about Biden's many accomplishments. This is what the media needs to address more.

Kamala Harris would do a good job, even if she isn’t wildly popular with closeted racists or misogynists.

I did not mean to imply that she should run instead of Biden. I meant she is a good vice president who could take over in case of need. My leaning is go with Joe, unless things change. Once people saw her acting as president, I think she would gain acceptance.

Expand full comment

I just wish he would have started his debate remarks with those disclaimers. Why couldn’t he have said, Look, Folks, I want you to know that I have a cold which I caught while meeting with other world leaders at the G7. And in case you’re not aware, I have a stutter. So please keep these facts in mind during tonight’s debate.

Expand full comment

Me, too. I learned in an assertiveness training class decades ago that if there’s anything getting in the way of one’s intention, address it first. It’s a great way to communicate, a metamessage (communicating about communication). And, saying it would likely have taken internal pressure off Biden as well as contextualized what followed for listeners.

Expand full comment

I’m quite aware of his struggles with stuttering and public speaking. Those do not cause me any consternation. But, he lost his way multiple times, didn’t complete many of his sentences/thoughts, and mixed up topics being discussed. These are MAJOR issues for me. Let me be clear. I am a lifetime liberal Democrat, and come this November, I will be voting for the Democratic Ticket…period…as I have done for over 50 years. The Democratic Party has some near-term soul searching to do, for the future of democracy and the country.

Expand full comment

Tom, my hope is to get him re-elected as it would be fatal to re-place him now. The rescumlicans and others would pounce on the fact that he can’t handle the job. He is surrounded by a great admin and we can push forward from there. I do think we need to have an age limit for such a high level position. I would love to see our wisest and oldest paid to stay on and advise. I don’t want to merely get rid of the old, but like you, I think a discussion is merited AFTER this election. We are FAR too close to elections. And we must learn from republicans that we stand rock solid behind our candidate because we will not allow a Fascist takeover we WILL beat them back and they can’t win. They do not have the numbers. But they cheat like hell..so we need to take the gloves off now!

Expand full comment

I just don’t think Biden can win now. As such, I believe we must select another candidate. It’s the only hope we have at this point. Frankly, had the Admin been more honest with us and more concerned about the country’s future, a decision not to run would have been made by late last year.

Biden has a stutter, he has had it since childhood, he has never been a great orator. His strength lies in his compassion, and a lifetime of working in the system. He knows and respects the job, and will do his utmost to deliver for the people, even the ones that didn't vote for him. The other guy is a rancid orange makeup caked idiot.

I'm with you. And, to be honest, I'd say that 90% of the comments I've seen on social media, where the real opinions (for good or ill) lie are pretty much, "One debate does not a campaign make." for all those "tuned out" and generally disinterested, non-politcally-inclined voters who took their precious time to watch this pathetic-on-all-fronts debate, it was a complete disaster for Biden. those married to the right and left camps weren't going to have their minds changed. tRump delivered exactly what his base needed to hear - lies an all. but for those fence-sitters, i don't think Biden has a hope in hell with the coveted "undecided" at this point - who are essentially the constituents each one of them has to persuade.

in sales, you only get one shot at making the right first impression. Biden totally blew it. so how does he recover when he was already in the doghouse going into the debate?? that's one hell of a monumental task.

all the Dems can bank on at this point is 128 days of news-cycle dust-ups to distract and bamboozle the undecided into believing that Biden is the better choice- despite the countless and relentless reminders of tRump attack-ads that will flow.

my heart sank watching this. the US... and by extension, the rest of the world, is fucked.

Trump always struts in and bulldozes the deal with bullshit. In business as well as politics. This is to disguise the fact that he knows nothing and can do nothing. His Gish gallop of fabrication the other night is gaining momentum in a direction bad for Trump and good for Biden. "Black jobs", "Nancy Pelosi admitted she was responsible for January 6", and other real zingers are getting the attention that these statements deserve. The fact that Trump wants to help Putin realize his dream is enough for me. The whole screed was a disgrace and a slap in the face to America. Joe was incredulous that Trump would stoop so low.
