Ted Cruz is my senator. He was just reelected in a landslide over a great candidate and human being Colin Allred. Need I say more? Our country, and especially my state of Texas, is suffering from a mass psychosis at best, cult behavior to the Jim Jones level in the alternative, or most likely, we are suffering from total and complete ignorance and stupidity, or worse, moral, spiritual, cultural and political bankruptcy. As you can see, I am quite bearish on the USA. We are committing suicide as a nation, and at least 77 million people are quite pleased about it. We are SO, SO messed up. I do not see an awakening, I really do not.

Susan P Thatcher's avatar

But were the posted results legit? Here in Fla, shitty GOP candidates running for re-election announce a landslide 5 minutes after the polls close. Color me suspicious

Mary Hall's avatar

I do not believe that T💩p is the legitimate president. There was way too much fkery going on with that election.

arne link's avatar

I will never believe it was an honest election. Never.

Walt Svirsky's avatar

It defies all logic. Someday we will know what really happened. The truth always comes out…

Patty Mooney's avatar

Greg Palast already did post the truth that Kamala won and doofus lost. https://www.gregpalast.com/trump-lost-vote-suppression-won/

Chet Brandt's avatar

I agree with his assessment but, that means the Dems have a helluva lot of work to do by the midterms. And I think there was some fuckery going on with musk and his minions( and millions of $$$)!

Doc Blase''s avatar

Respectfully Palast is nuttier than squirrel poop.

James Starr's avatar

some of us might be dead when that day comes, but yes, one day.

Jan Moon's avatar

Except when it doesn't. Look at President Kennedy, may he rest in peace. Please! Thousands of years from now people are still going to be sifting through dusty libraries and archives looking for THE TRUTH about his assassination.

Susan P Thatcher's avatar

I think it's possible that state tabulation sites were compromised in 2016.

Jan Moon's avatar

I may be dragged out kicking and screaming but I believe the 2024 election was rigged. There's NO WAY that slimy, lying, felonious sack of doo doo could have amassed all those votes, despite nearly half the country having their heads where the sun don't shine. No way.

Denise Donaldson's avatar

We know that GOP operatives accessed voting software in at least some states. For example, in Colorado. See: https://apnews.com/article/tina-peters-colorado-clerk-election-vote-fraud-b456ce4f80dc97f4b967eb6297311a51

Abigail Norling's avatar

Because it clearly was NOT. Too bad the good people are too polite to call it out!

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

Musk throws nearly $300 million into Trump's election -- I can't believe it all went to boost turnout among the idiots playing his voting lottery. And I'm really sorry the Democrats conceded so quickly to prove their virtue and concerns about a peaceful transition. If we were the violent ones the Republicans wouldn't have a person standing now.

Patty Mooney's avatar

Dems and their families were probably threatened in some way.

Doc Blase''s avatar

Oh for fuck sake. Please stop.

Doc Blase''s avatar

The answer is simple. Repugs used communication channels that worked and we did not. Dems spent 1 BILLION dollars on old media, and it failed.

The old shout political slogans at the mic and roll out 700-page policy plans is a LOSER.

That plus: America, outside of our coastal cities, are what they appear to be. Angry, racist, (mostly) white folks who live in a 24-hour propaganda bubble. They would vote for Jabba The Hut if it ran as a MAGAt.

In fact, they did.

Eileen's avatar

But voter suppression cost Democrats millions of votes

Doc Blase''s avatar

Yes, that’s inexcusable, whatever the number might be, but the fact is, 13 million registered Democrats did not vote.

What’s the source enumerating the millions of voters suppressed?

SeekingReason's avatar

Mary. He is not legitimate because the Constitution clearly states that a seditionist cannot serve in office..including the presidency! On top of that, they DID cheat. They need to be forcibly removed. Period. No lawsuits needed. The military or the FBI should go in with weapons drawn!

Denise Donaldson's avatar

Hope you aren't holding your breath, Seeking. What should be and what is are many miles apart.

Doreen Garza's avatar

I wish, but honestly I do not see that happening unfortunately..Too many boot lickers and wimps!!

Mary Hall's avatar

I just found this video that raises many questions about the last election -- https://democraticunderground.com/100220039226

Bonnie Council's avatar

Until there is campaign finance reform, we will never win another election. As long as billionaires can donate as much as they want, they will have ultimate control. All they have to do is see how much the democrats have put in for their candidate, then just raise their donations - again & again & again - for their candidate. And now that Musk has put trump back in office, there will never be campaign finance reform. And perhaps never another election, either. It disgusts me.

Denise Donaldson's avatar

Thanks for sharing, Mary. There are several statisticians who've sounded the alarm, but no one, especially any Dems, including Harris, has been listening.

Eileen's avatar

Terrifying! I just forwarded it to several people and will continue forwarding this video until the Democrats get off their asses and challenge the election

Doreen Garza's avatar

Yes there was! I wish someone would look into it. Why are they just accepting this shit?

Abigail Norling's avatar

Hey! F-Elon bought that election fair and square! See Donnie sit at his desk mournfully while F-Elon rants on, and his 4 year old berates little Donnie...why do we think THAT is happening????

Eileen's avatar

So Trump can stay out of jail and golf

Musk had a hand in it, and the orange traitor knew it. Which is how, along with complacency on the part of too many citizens, that the worst human to walk the earth cheated his way back into the White House.

It is now our duty to get rid of him. And his lap dog, musk, as well.

Doc Blase''s avatar

You guys please need to end the Blue-anon fantasy and concentrate on winning in '26. Please.

Carol C's avatar

Speaking of fuckery in the form of voter suppression, the SAVE ACT in Congress threatens the ability to vote of lots of people, including women whose birth certificate name doesn’t match their married name. A Marriage certificate doesn’t count as proof of name change. Each time someone moves and needs to register to vote somewhere new, they have to jump through multiple hoops again. Not just women.

JD Vance’s mentor Peter Thiel said it was a shame that women got the vote. It’s not just him. Actual Republican congressmen suggest repealing the 19th Amendment.

Linda Weide's avatar

The fkery was legitimate given our election standards. If we were Romania and said, we do not think Russian bots interfering made the results unfair, then so be it. But we have our own bots, and they come from Trump and Musk, so they will not be discounted. We could say, there was interference, we need a do-over. We will not be doing that.

Yeah, those tiny 'plausible' margins in every flipping state don't make sense. And there were 10m new Dem registered the month before and somehow KH also lost 10m Biden voters? So she was 20m short and orange menace was performing fellatio on a microphone in front of 20 person crowds the week before? STOLEN. And the deafening silence from the Dems after. 67 Georgia polling places cleared out with bomb threats. Uugh!

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

The tech bros’ figured out how to rig an election, I wouldn’t count on another ever being legitimate, if ever again Susan!!

Susan P Thatcher's avatar

PJ Schuster's avatar

This is an excellent article from election forensics expert Greg Palast. Not vote flipping in the machines, but extreme voter suppression

https://hartmannreport.com/p/trump-lost-vote-suppression-won-c6f

Anne Whitney's avatar

I just don't understand why the Dems didn't object, or Biden or KH say or do something? We should be sore and so should the Dem leadership. The silence and vacuum around leadership has been deafening.

Doc Blase''s avatar

We can't have it both ways. It's not going to be "free and fair" when one side wins and "corrupt and 'stollen' (with two "l"'s) when that side loses.

We Dems were in power during the election, so we blame ourselves?

No. That doesn't fly.

13 MILLION votes? Really? If one believes this I have a real nice old bridge for sale between Tacoma and Gig Harbor. Free shipping.

We need Blue-Anon like we need an anus on our elbows.

PJ Schuster's avatar

It’s not blue anon, it’s facts about the huge purges of voter rolls, the removal of mail ballot drop boxes making it way less convenient to return those ballots, the army of Republican voters they recruited to do massive voter challenges, up to 4000 challenges made by 1 single person, mail ballots disqualified for very minor errors, or the person comparing the signatures decides they don’t match. My signature from 15 yrs ago doesn’t look exactly like my 74 yr old signature today.

It’s a fact that Republicans have been doing voter suppression for decades, but they’ve definitely ramped it way up since the 2020 election.

Dave Drell's avatar

I’m glad JT brought that up about Drumpf insulting Cruz. Just shows what a hypocrite Cruz is, and a lying whore he is too. Tex-ass can become part of Mexico again- I will never visit that knucklehead state ever again!

HI2thDoc's avatar

The only time I set foot on Tex-ass soil was to change planes at DFW forty years ago. It was only for about 20 minutes, I didn't spend a penny, and because of the way that state has gone it has become a lowlight in my life

Abbi, pls post again today, if $ arrive or not. Soc Security is my #1 concern.

Sharon C Storm's avatar

I live in senior affordable housing, and all my friends here received their normal payments of SS on the day it was due last week.

Sheila D's avatar

Aren't SS checks paid on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Wednesday of the month? My brother-in-law got his last Wednesday.

Sharon C Storm's avatar

For the past 8 or 9 months, we’ve been getting our direct deposits on the Saturday prior to the Wednesday our payments were scheduled. Payments are made on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th weeks. Approximately every three months there are 5 weeks between payments, it’s really difficult to make 4 weeks worth of money last for 5 weeks.

Teri's avatar

Sheila, people who began getting pmts pre-1995-ish got pmts on the 3rd of e. mo. Then, to better managing huge pmts on one day, they began with alternate PMT dates thru out the mo., but always on their assigned day of mo. Exceptions: pmt day is 3rd, a Sunday. Sat is not a PMT day, so go back to the prior business day. In this case, you got your ck Fri the 1st. Same with major holidays.

Anne Whitney's avatar

Hang tight mine was a few days behind too but it came.

Doc Blase''s avatar

Does anyone suppose that in 17 days there would have been news about people not receiving their scheduled benefits?

Nothing?

Not a single story. What's that tell you?

Most of the problem can be summed up as "Christianity exists and we didn't put any constraints on it".

Everything Donny and the sewer clown brigade are doing is what evangelicals have wanted to do since forever.

In order for anything to get better, trump has to die and the church needs to either get severe legal sanctions placed on it, be taxed out of existence, or ideally both.

Teri's avatar

Lucius, I would be ok with burning down every single empty church. ALL OF THEM. First we reclaim collection 💸💸💸💲, remove anything of value to sell. Evict wealthy mansions & card, take all" profits "pastors" get. Use $$ to help hungry, raise folks out of poverty etc

Sadly, he's mine too. And I honestly don't see how Texans could vote for the guy who's done nothing for Texas in the 12 years he's been in DC.

And now Abbutt is trying to sue the feds for recompense for the 11 Billion of OUR tax money he spent on that performative border nonsense he undertook. I'm actually hoping Dumpf says "F off. No-one told you to do all that, you did it on your own."

But who knows what the orange clown will do.

I agree. It does seem as if a significant portion of our country has grown up historically ignorant, morally bankrupt (despite squalling about how they're so put upon as "Christians"), culturally bereft, spiritually empty, and politically stupid.

I’m with you. Ted does nothing for those he represents. He’s in cahoots with a broad range of political criminals.

Greg Abbott’s supporters (and Ted’s, and the whole GOP party’s) have major hooks into them via billions they have been plowing into these guys for decades. They remote control.

Dunn, Wilkes, et.al. are megalomaniacs includes Fertitta +++

They control everything from real estate, the electricity grid, petroleum and water rights, and the Texas government and legislature.

Fun fact: West Texas has abandoned old oil wells where the plugs are disintegrating and widespread water aquifer breeches are occurring. This is turning what was once scenic open land with many unique features and species into a wasteland. It breaks my heart.

Dweebs and rednecks lured by evangelical churches vote for them like lemmings. They have screwy ideas fed by Fox, Jones, Brannon, and their local “heretic pastors” go into this protoplasm mishmash that are their hive minds. They are all tied together with Trump.

Our once fine public education systems have become polluted and diluted by righteous evangelical wing nuts, with Abbott still pressing for Texas taxpayers to pay for Christian school vouchers. It’s been voted down numerous times yet he comes back like a whackamole. Shit, we already pay their church and Christian school property taxes. This irks me no end.

Taxes are up hugely since Abbott invited California to move in with us. We get nothing for the hikes. Constant road work and dangerous traffic. Gee thanks Abbott.

Austin area is running out of water. Drought plus overdevelopment. Now Elon has relocated to that area. Oh joy.

Trump comes for visits and affirmation rallies and meetings. Our pathetic governor sits looking up at Trump like he’s the second coming. It’s nauseating.

I was born in Texas. It’s my home for over 60 years. I hate that these assholes have wrecked what once was a beautiful state.

I read Jeff’s posts because they help me cope with the absurd reality that is scaring the shit out of me right now.

And yeah, I think Elon’s ninja interns could have messed with our election results. The big donation and the timing? Coincidence? 🤔 But who would look into it? Nobody. One day, maybe the EU or the UK will figure it out as part of a wider investigation into Elon. We may never know.

Clearly, we need to encourage smarter, better people to run for office. I can understand why they wouldnt want to, given the cesspool our government has become...but people with a modicum of intellect and decency need to start getting involved in politics...start at the local level. Mayors, city councils and county boards.

We keep electing criminals and wonder why we get the same results. People like Clueless Kevin need to sit down and shut the fuck up. And then trash like Ted Cruz. “a slimy, shapeless mass" 😂😂😂 Hilarious. Hang in there everyone. ✌️

Jayme Wolworth's avatar

I am struggling with how we get the message to the rural "red voter" about what has been happening in DC since Trump took office. Everyone votes and then goes about their business and doesn't pay attention. When they finally wake up it will be too late.

My dream is that Blue State governors send out a message on the cell network for people to pay attention to what's happening. It would definitely get covered by MSM right? Right?

We can protest and shout til the cows come home but until the uninformed Fox News audience gets a clue about what's going on we are in danger of losing democracy sooner than expected. Daydreamin.

Happy NOT MY PRESIDENT Day to all who celebrate.

Remember there are protests in all states today!

Susan Niemann's avatar

I totally agree with that. I've envisioned town halls, hosted by Democrats who will answer questions and present the facts. Ads in small town newspapers that they read. Have Mayor Pete or Tim Walz or ??? commit to some in medium sized towns and counties. It would get great coverage.... Call It the Bring America Back Townhall. I'm spit balling here. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Jayme Wolworth's avatar

I think Pete would be an excellent choice. Tim is a little busier with MN but also a great communicator.

I have in fact been begging Pete on social media to please do a daily information program to the masses. He could even work from home lol.

Your suggestion of local newspapers is also a good one.

The AG of NC (Jeff Jackson) puts out a daily newsletter too, but it needs to get to the right people.

UGH! Fox (not so much) News has accomplished exactly what it set out to do and it's so frustrating.

Where are the local democratic parties? I don't see them doing anything where I live in northern California. And, in my opinion, this is a huge mistake. They're leaving space for misinformation to take top billing.

longtimebirdwatcher's avatar

So true. We have an underground in Berkeley, but it doesn't matter, the developers buy their own candidates and we have so many newcomers who want to live here (not immigrants, just people who didn't grow up here) and who don't understand Berkeley issues and who vote for developer issues. I won't even go into my city councilwoman, I let my husband deal with her.

Lisa K. Obrien's avatar

People from all over the world want to live in CA. Wealthy people. It was forever thus. We’ve had the Coastal Commision and good environmental laws, but money always wins out in the end. That’s human nature. As my brother told me many years ago “The California you remember exists only in your mind”.

PJ Schuster's avatar

Because the DNC doesn’t share the money with the state & county democratic parties, they are underfunded terribly. Do NOT give to the DNC, & write or call your senators & Rep & tell them why you are not donating to it. Donate to individual candidates & good orgs, but not the DNC until they make a commitment to share the money & we have proof that they are.!!

Gail Dragoo's avatar

I like this idea, Susan. Something needs to be done to get the message out to people that they have been lied to. No one else will do it and there are people that can tell it like it is….Moskovitz,, Crockett, Shapiro, Newsom, etc. The cult is too entrenched in the lying on Fox, CNN, etc. I guess it’s not hurting them where they live yet. Give it two weeks.

Hannah's avatar

Yes, just wait for the red state fallout from losing Medicaid and Social Security benefits. (If that happens) I’m sure they won’t just say they’re doing their part for the benefit of the country.

Like lapdog Lindsey, the bloviating, makeup covered turd must have some major dirt on terrible Ted. Who knows how many of these GOP dipshits in Congress did an about face like these two numbskulls and can't stop kissing the ring or his disgusting ass. Unlike Dump and Smuk, clueless Cruz should have an inkling that not everything in this world is for sale, including Greenland.

Cathy Carrozza's avatar

Anyone running for president , if that happens again, should have to pass the same test for citizenship that newcomers to our country have to pass.

It’s also the absurd cost to run and for House members, the fundraising never ends cuts nuts.

how come I--a former English teacher and retired lawyer who satisfied her science requirement in college by taking geology--know more about Avian flu than a presidential "economics advisor?"

Cheri Collins's avatar

Because you have a functioning brain, and you read, Susan!

Susan Linehan's avatar

actually, because I went through an educational system—starting in 1950—that actually fostered curiosity and made one WANT to look outside whatever expertise one was focused on at the time. Our country is moving back to the strict Daddy mode where you regurgitate what you are told and no sass back. It’s been going on some time, particularly with the horrendous “teaching to the test” requirements. Those tests were meant to help find weaknesses, but instead they PROMOTED weaknesses in anything but “yessir.”

Cheri Collins's avatar

Yep, you are absolutely correct - born in 1952 here ☺️.

It suddenly hit me: we were the generation raised under the theories of Dr. Spock. It was the great era of what George Lakoff called the "nurturant parenting" frame, which stresses what he taught. "His ideas influenced several generations of parents, encouraging them to be more flexible and affectionate with their children and to treat them as individuals." The backlash against this arose in part because of his anti war position on Vietnam, and the likes of Spiro Agnew hated him; under Reagan and after, the model of "strict father" frame was pushed to counter what was seen as the disorder arising from the war- protest, civil rights, 2nd wave feminist generation. "Permissiveness" became the "woke" of its day. This, combined with the feeling that education, including college, was really a super trade school aimed at jobs jobs jobs so that arts, history, humanities were a waste of precious time (and perhaps precious bodily fluids?)--this combination has I think narrowed a whole lot of peoples' chances for a fullness of life they don't even know they are missing.

It obviously isn't a lock step requirement of any generation to be like the trends--but I think Dr. Spock started a trend that really gave a big swath of a generation "something completely different" for a while.

Cheri Collins's avatar

I agree, Susan, parenting style has a lot to do with it. Having worked with kids in an informal educational setting for the last 35 years, I have seen the dramatic changes!

I know educators hate those tests.

I love every time you use 'Fidel Cancun'! Side note everyone. If you are anywhere near a protest today, please show up. We are perilously close to a theofascist Autocracy now. tRump+Musk are willing to burn it all down to profit off the ashes.

Steve Kelly's avatar

We're not close to.... we're THERE! Listen to intelligent folks like Rick Wilson, Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O'Donnell, Michael Steele etc. They know how fucked up we've become. The Coup is well underway....

Our foreign policy lacks adult leadership. The world is dumbfounded by our dummies going abroad. At least our leaders are not yet shooting our citizens, but they will crack skulls and shoot us. We need to be ready for that fork in the road. https://bit.ly/4b5wkL4

David Jones's avatar

We no longer have a foreign policy.

Charles Austin's avatar

Then I'll have to crack their skulls and shoot them. (See Gen.Patton on the topic of dying for your country.)

I expect we will follow MLK’s peaceful protest program. I see benefit in the Civilian Marksmanship Program. Enough said.

I keep scrolling through breaking news hoping to find something encouraging about what's being done to put a halt to all this. Lawsuits and judges blocking drumpf's evil orders just don't cut it. Amy Klobuchar and Jasmine Crocket etc cleverly stating the obvious out loud doesn't help much either. Protests in every state are a noble fight but how many will it take and for how long? And what am I doing about it? Nothing. Nothing at all besides being worried and pissed off about it. Except, this is all about control. It's not about money. or the unborn, or Jesus, or jobs, paper straws, what people do in their bedroom, the Gulf of Mexico, Greenland etc etc etc. It's about the desire to control everyone and everything. It's as close to being God as they will ever get. So I guess it's like they say. As long as I don't agree, don't comply, stay true to what I believe is right, moral and humane maybe I am doing something about it. All of us here resisting are doing something about. Ghandi said "they will have my dead body, but not my obedience." I hope I can be like that.

Well stated, antlisa. This is a blitz attack and quick action is necessary.

If you have a few bucks, donate to Democracy Forward and CREW (Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington). Even just $5 per month shows your support. They are leading the charge with the lawsuits and at least they are kicking sand in the gears and slowing things down.

Anne Whitney's avatar

I think about Ghandi a lot lately and wonder what he would tell us to do. The technology thing makes civil disobedience more complicated. Cutting the cords, decentralizing is survival but mass protest is the most powerful...

A Fox News "economist" is an expert on bird flu??!🙄🤮 Jesus Christ on a wheat thin! It's too bad that Shitgibbon's limo didn't hit the wall. I'd be honored to contribute some salt to the Fidel Cancun extermination fund. (I do snow removal for a living.)
