I am sorry for you. Frankly, I'd move to California. I know not everyone wants to live in the fourth or fifth largest economy in the world, and it can be expensive, but you don't pay taxes on your food or driving on the FREEway, and you can fuel up your EV anywhere (practically.)

Ellen's right. Be prepared to double or triple rental costs. If u buy, same, but research out of control costs of property taxes, homeowners insurance. Consider too that we have the occasional tsunami warnings (uncommon), earthquakes, multiple out of control year-round wildfires. Pls don't come expecting non-maga land. They are everywhere.
