Just finished a zoom presentation on Art Trading Cards for my calligraphy guild. Love tracing those movements and noting the influences. Appreciate the stroll through your brain this morning, Jeff... (Hi to the wife, who appears extremely cool) 👋

Just had brunch with my oldest brother and his daughter and granddaughter and the granddaughter's squeeze. Yesterday my brother and I spent the morning on the sidewalk at the local Planned Parenthood, verbally abusing and drowning out womb sniffers who come to yell at patients on Saturday mornings. ❤️

Good Day Jeff.. I must say Donald came up with a whopper at the NRA confab last night.. He talked about all these folks in Democratic cities robbing departments stores of refrigerators and fur coats. I gotta tell ya my back is killing me this morning from hauling that refrigerator wearing my new fur coat on my back. Who gives a chicken fried fuck about what this mental patient has to say? Have a great day to all my fellow travelers and please don’t put a refrigerator on your back today 🤠

Celebrating the late ABC news article last night -“FOX News apologizes to judge overseeing the Dominion case.”

Hey, dreams do come true! The judge reamed the FOX lawyers for “being evasive, not straightforward.” The judge may name Special Master to investigate misrepresentations they made were “untrue or negligent.” The judge went on to say “I need people to tell me the truth, by the way, omission is a lie.”

Woah; holy shit! Welcome to karma Fox News! Once the lawyers can pick themselves up off the floor after having their asses kicked, they will see they are representing not Fox News, but more like Fucked News. Celebrate everyone! Hopefully this is only the beginning of what’s to come.

It is a beautiful morning in SWPA. Where the weather forecast is almost always incorrect (thank heavens). To paraphrase Louis Black, “What does the word meteorologist mean in English? It means LIAR!”. Sitting on the back porch in a soft, warm breeze recording and identifying bird calls on my Cornell Lab bird app, Merlin.

Thanks for the heads up that Atwood has a substack! And congrats on being The Orange Turd's most dedicated hater. That is truely an honor. :)

I've run errands and am now home debating on what to feed my husband for dinner. Leaning towards lasagna as we can eat off that for a couple of days.

Just reconnected with a really funny smart friend I lost when I was banned from Twitter for eternity. We leftists have to stick together!

Viva Terlingua!

I'm also a tremendous fan of science fiction. I think it's a by-product of watching the moon landing live on TV and becoming enthralled with 2001: A Space Odyssey and Star Trek (Star Wars came much later).

Otherwise, I'm grading papers and doing a half-day of work to get caught up before the onslaught begins again on Monday.

Original Star Trek. I was 9. My father and I watched it together. Who doesn’t love a good Vulcan nerve pinch? Dad and I watched Star Trek, Rocky and Bullwinkle but his favorite was Fractured Fairy Tales narrated by Edward Everett Horton. Horton was a great comedian and I tune into Turner Classic Movies whenever he’s on. I love his voice. I also love fantasy science fiction.

I live in Florida. I once thought that was a good thing. Trying to figure out where I could go where there is not quite the fuckfest as there is here. I've been here some 45 years! Any suggestions for other states/countries? DeSantis could be worse than 45 - he has a few more brains!

I’ve just been sitting at the breakfast table trying to figure out a way to accept the nuttiness of my siblings with a modicum of grace and originality. I feel like I’m stuck on the first step...

I have no advice — sorry — only empathy because I am in the exact same place with one of my step-daughters. Honestly and for whatever it’s worth, I think I’m stuck because I really don’t care all that much.

The tough part is the affective element; I keep thinking that something will change and that hope keeps me stuck.

I know that one, too, though not with her. Who knows, it might change one day with your siblings. But meanwhile — this just occurred to me and I haven’t thought it through — is it possible to be open to change if it ever happens without hoping for change?

Nah. Probably a package. But I have reached that important stage where my own sense of self isn't bound up with the expectation that any change will happen. As Joan Didion noted, you play it as it lays.

Tried to “attend” my church on YouTube. Covid-conscious: haven’t had it; don’t want it. But there were technical issues and it kept buffering and then quitting. So off to make Indian food for lunch.
