The one good thing about the emergence of djt and his movement is that it revealed the depth and dangerousness of the racism, rage, and violence that have been present all along. We knew it was there, but not how deep and not how intense. Now we can be prepared (at least theoretically) for verbal and physical attacks; now we can start to formulate plans to help address the causes of that rage and help those who can be helped (and who want to be helped) enter the rational world.
A seemingly impossible task, I know -- but I like to keep in mind that Derek Black (son of a major white suprem) became a tolerant person once he encountered so-called Others at college and came to know/like them. And the Sarah Jones who writes for NY mag (there's another writer named Sarah Jones) was raised in an ultra-religious home and went to a religious college, but she ultimately became progressive (not sure what prompted her journey). And, there are others, not known to us. Not so many, but some.
