Might the country fragment into a civil war? Maybe, but the possibility is that things have gone on long enough, and people have been hurt enough (certainly by the time it escalates to that level) that the battle lines could be along lines other than have been previously thought of. It's all bets are off time, anybody who claims to see a through-line to any outcome is blowing smoke up your ass.
