My dear cousin once told me that the fact that Biden hardly ever went out in public during the pandemic proved the election had to be stolen. I silently replied, Biden could’ve spent the entire year on the sofa, eating Cheetos and watching Netflix, and I still would’ve voted for him.” The tRump cultists just don’t understand that bullshit and gaudy displays of obnoxious ignorance do not work on EVERY voter.

Agreed! Biden has had such a strong primary season. He is consistently receiving a much larger percentage of votes - between 80 & 96 percent - than Trump has. Why does the media keep talking about Biden being slammed at the polls & Trump touted like he is the Second Coming. Trump is lucky to get 50%.

A former friend told me that trump would be re-elected in 2020 based on crowd size, too. I asked her if she had ever attended a political rally, with or without a pandemic. "No."

High attendance at a rally during Covid proved only that we have way too many stupid Americans.

And many attendees at Trump's rallies were people who went to many of his rallies. That means they were repeat attenders and should not be counted more than once. So we really have no idea how many people were reached during these rallies.

Biden is a racist and senile plagiarist. Everyone gives Trump credit for being racist. However, he doesn't have anywhere near the esteemed record of Biden. Biden has no shame in his racism game. He has a very public record of clearly and openly revealing his deep hatred of Black Americans. You know back when he could form what could reasonably be called coherent English. I know you don't believe me, but seriously there was a time when he could talk. He could go on and on about his kids not being in racist jungles.

By getting stuff done, do you mean how Biden bragged about the 1994 crime bill incarcerating a generation of Black men? Is that getting stuff done? If by stuff you mean destroying the lives of millions of young minorities, then I must agree. He certainly got a lot of "stuff" done.

BTW, in 2010 he gave a eulogy at the funeral of Robert Byrd. A famous segregationist who died while proudly serving as a Democratic US Senator. I'll help you out, segregationists are racists. You're welcome.

All I've said are facts, David. If you will openly support an avowed racist who trades on his name at the cost of American prosperity, then what does that say about you?

You mentioned the New York Times, referring to those polls about Biden‘s lack of popularity. Here’s the thing: I wonder how many Democrats who — like me — will vote blue until they drop dead, simply don’t respond to polls. For example, I report all texts from political actors of any stripe as junk. I don’t want to answer polls and I don’t want to get the panic-mongering messages about how much money they need “today RIGHT NOW to beat Trump”. I’ve already donated to the people I want to support. I don’t need to talk to them about it. Anyway, seems to me that polls are more than ever uninformed by regular voters. I don’t know how you’d research it, but this would make a really interesting article from you. I really enjoy your newsletter and always end up sharing it with bunches of my friends.

Expand full comment
Sharon C Storm's avatar

Smart people don’t answer their phones if they don’t know the caller. That explains the polls to me.

Expand full comment
Kim Nesvig's avatar

Exactly. And there is actually data to back that up. I recently read that in 2018 only about 1.5% of polling calls actually got through to a respondent. By 2022 that number had fallen to 0.4%. Pretty hard to come up with a randomly selected, representative sample, when its limited to people who haven’t yet figured out how to screen unwanted calls.

You nailed it! Thank you! I don’t answer unknown callers either.

So, this is what I’m told by some people who are highly insulted that I didn’t answer their call, but ACT like they care about me, “But Suzy, what if you miss a call from a new client who picked up your brochure at a show?”

I like to say calmly that if a call is not answered….

1. 90% of the time it will be a recorded sales pitch like, “You have been specifically chosen to get a NEW roof for free! This offer expires in 32.7 minutes so don’t delay - or this offer goes to #2 on our preferred customer list. CALL US NOW for details!” (I’m not desperate to talk to someone/ anyone. I don’t feel honored to be #1 and not dumb enough to fall for it. Besides, I don’t even own a roof …but if I did, I’d ask close friends for referrals!)

I admit I used to answer and be kind to real person telemarketers because I had to take a job like that when I was young and it was utter misery. If the person was nasty I had the satisfaction of telling them so! “You’re a LIAR, and don’t you dare threaten me for being in ‘serious’ arrears on your credit card. I don’t have one of those and never applied for one!”

ALAS! When robocalling started, there was no satisfaction in yelling at a computer!

2. If a call is legit, they will leave me a message. I’ll check the number on a reverse call service and may call them back.

If they don’t leave a message, it’s not important.

3. I say that I may know the caller but “you know how it is, I could be in the shower OR there are people I KNOW I don’t WANT to talk to!” It’s MY phone that I pay for and I’ll ignore it if I want to!

Besides, anybody who takes offense at such a trivial matter, is immediately added to my personal ‘DO NOT ANSWER’ list.

It blocked texts from Chuck Schumer, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Hakeem Jeffries, Kamala Harris, and many more. Don't need it. Don't want it. I also don't participate in polls or petitions because all it's going to do is generate more junk mail; paper and electronic. And yet, I WILL NOT vote for anyone who ISN'T a Democrat. Reading Judge Engeron's ruling and decades of Forbes magazine articles, Donald and his kids worked hard every day to cheat the system. They could have been successful playing by the law and the rules. But this wasn't their style. They didn't come to work every day and ask, what can we do to make New York and the World a better place? What can we do to help people? We shouldn't break the law, that would be wrong.

Instead their creativity was focused on scams and cons and lies. Politically corrupt tax abatements. Screwing contractors and employees. Lying to the tax man, banks and insurance companies to make more money. They sold phony college degrees. Bad meat. Medals and trading cards (digital and print). Strips of blue cloth. Overpriced sneakers. How can we steal from people and get away with it?

What's so attractive about this slimy, immoral, incompetent, ignorant, old, rapist, fraud, con man that 147 Members of Congress debased their honor to him?

The degree to which blatant ignorance is rampant in America is stunning and disgraceful. Especially considering the fact that opportunities to get educated are plentiful.

An example of this blatant ignorance, the lack of understanding of inflation. What causes it, how long to takes to develop, and how long it takes to cure it.

Inflation does not happen “in an instant.” It takes time, sometime years, to develop. Fraud Trump inherited from President Obama an economy that was running full-steam-ahead.

One of the first things Fraud Trump did at the outset of his presidency was to encourage and sign into law a huge tax cut, one that mostly benefitted mostly very wealthy people. Tax cuts starve revenues from the Federal Government. As liars and cons always do, Fraud Trump told the American people that all of us would benefit from the tax cuts. Not true. In fact, false. Unfortunately for Fraud Trump, the Covid Pandemic began soon after Trump took office. Instead of taking swift action to prevent the spread of Covid, he said “don’t worry, it’ll be gone in two weeks.” (Typical remark from a person who is a blatant liar and con.) And, then, over 1,000,000 American’s died from Covid. And, we had to endure rolling, periodic lockdowns for an extended period of time. There is absolutely no question that the inflation we experienced after President Biden crushed and flushed Fraud Trump was caused by Fraud Trump’s incompetent, inept, arrogant mishandling of Covid and the tax cuts he signed into law.

Unfortunately for President Biden, he inherited from Fraud Trump, right at the beginning of President Biden’s term, the inflationary factors that Fraud Trump caused, and, quite expected by educated Americans, inflation began to take its toll on our daily lives. That said, President Biden, a true leader in every sense of that word, has done an awesome job leading our country’s recovery from inflation. Thank you, President Joe Biden, for your leadership, for your dedication and for your honesty.

As to the blatant ignorance rampant in America, one only has to look at the imbecilic MAGAt cult that Fraud Trump has developed over the past 7-8 years. They worship a man who is a liar, a fraud, a con, a traitor, a sex-abuser, a serial defamer, a coward, a fascist and a puppet of disgusting Vladimir Putin. The majority of Americans know that Trump is America’s Presidential Accident and Disgrace, totally unfit to occupy the highest office in our country, yet Fraud Trump’s MAGAt cult has no problem supporting a disgusting person who has, three times so far, been proven to be a blatant fraud (ordered to come up with over $540 million to pay for his sexual-abuse, defamation and fraud) and who has been indicted (and will be going on trial this year) for committing 91 criminal felonies against the American People, including a RICO (racketeering) charge.

Every American who cares about America MUST get out and do whatever is necessary to ensure that Liar, Fraud, Con, Sc umbag Trump is never, ever, ever again President of the USA.
