today in Shit That Happened While I Was Busy Writing This Shit—

"Supreme Court Narrows Law Banning Drug Users From Owning Guns," because of course they did.

https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/18/us/politics/supreme-court-drugs-guns.html

remember, Republicans believe that the only person who should be prosecuted for gun/drug law violations is Hunter Biden.

I wrote a whole thing about it three years ago

What I love so much is that when you’re in a Claudia picture there’s such an enormous amount of just pure, unmitigated love pouring out. She loved and was loved in return.

Gently, Jack Jones's avatar

I was just reflecting on how the Daily Claudia pics have become my favorite part of Jeff’s posts!

Gently, Jack Jones's avatar

And the restaurant and destination info is awesome! This Californian loves exploring New England and environs, so they are bound to come in handy - Claudia’s knack for finding them continues to have an effect! ❤️

Suel J's avatar

We get the Stoopid up front then ascend to the delightful photos of ethereal Claudia. Such love .

Ellen McKenzie's avatar

Absolutely. The first thing I notice.

Robin D's avatar

Beautifully stated, Babe Paley ❤

I guess I’m the one to point out that Claudia mastered the perfect shade of lipstick to enhance her beauty. Most of us are still on the hunt.

Cathy Rady's avatar

I laughed at the Jeff / Claudia selfie . . .

because if these had been two different, sub-human life forms

the one on the left would be Donald leering at Melania

while the beautiful woman on the right is totally focused on something interesting

but in your case, Jeff . . . love is real, and ain't it grand?!?!?!

Undercooked meaning a hit too small off the joint/bong Bob.

"oh, and we’re giving Iran 300 billion dollars to rebuild all the shit we blew up. which — let’s be honest — we absolutely should. we broke it, we bought it. that was Colin Powell’s Pottery Barn Rule back when we were fucking shit up in Iran."

Just for shitz n giggles, I Googled: Who usually pays reparations after a war ends?

And the Holy AI replied: Historically, DEFEATED NATIONS pay reparations to VICTORIOUS ones to compensate for damages, loss of life, and material losses....As discussed on >>Politics Stack Exchange<<, this obligation falls ON THE VANQUISHED for several key reasons:

*Punitive Measures: To HOLD THE AGRESSOR ACCOUNTABLE for initiating the conflict and to weaken their capacity to rearm.

* Economic Compensation: To help THE WINNING COUNTRY rebuild...

* Conditions for Peace: Payment is often required as a non-negotiable condition for withdrawing occupying troops or to avoid reoccupation.

NOTABLE HISTORICAL EXAMPLES

WW1: Under the Treaty of Versailles, Germany was forced to accept.....being gang-raped in perpetuity. Or until after they f'd up again even worse by putting prototype tRump in power, and then owed their souls for eternity to The Great Satan. . .who promptly let them off the hook in exchange for a Mercedes Convertible with tan leather upholstery and Birdseye maple dashboard.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Kevin Dale Green's avatar

I'm really suspicious about that $300 billion. Are we giving it to them directly or are we providing $300 billion worth of reconstruction by U.S. based companies. If the latter, how much is going into Trump's pocket?

Joyce's avatar

It's even better, according to what I've read/heard: Donnie Demento has "agreed" that the other Gulf nations should pay Iran the $300 billion he's promising.

If not, we need to strip them (metaphorically) naked and force them to run down 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue as the fucking cowards and useless rich worshipping shits that they are. Do it, or we're not just going to embarrass you at the next election, we're going to strip your criminally stolen wealth. Like It, Dirtbags.

Europeans do not understand that so many (mostly republican) politicians in the USA do not understand that only the government’s police and army has the right to use arms and only under very restricting logical conditions and every police shooting is examined deeply. Cops in Europe rarely are killed and shootings in schools or other public places are very, very rare.

My old pals Brewer & Shipley, rest their souls, would’ve had a new lyric to add to their masterpiece: “ Under Toke Over the Line”.

Elizabeth Schulz's avatar

I wuz going to add the 'sweet jezus' last night once I stopped laughing, but figured someone else likely already had. Hadn't read this far. 'Twas you, merci beaucoups. :)

Frank Nuts's avatar

I confess Neal. I bought that album … before my first marriage. I think she made off with it during the divorce. That was the only song off it I remember. I just remembered another song I thought was off that album: “Summer Breeze”; but, I instantly realized that that song belonged to Seals and Croft. That was the golden age of music. It was like the civil rights movement, anti war protests, anti nuke demonstrations, and women’s rights movements birthed all this new creativity resulting in a massive collection of incredible music. If it weren’t for all the conservative psychotic shit drizzle being forced upon us by the conservative elite we might never have had all that creativity. Well done you murdering, women demeaning, strange fruit lynching, narcissistic nut jobs. In an unintentional but fruitful kind of way you spawned some incredible music. So take a win. You won’t. You could have had a win. Shame.

Neal Stiffelman's avatar

Brewer and Shipley were both good guys and very talented. Lots of other fine tunes.

Elizabeth Schulz's avatar

MY favourite music still, and likely always, is from Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, Bob Marley and on and on and on - their SOUL/R&B/Reggae music, all from the same era and spawned because of the same shitfuckers means AS much today as it did then. Peter White - my favourite 'smooth jazz' guitarist still incorporates so much of it into his sets and we ALL still sing along full throated. Fucking glorious, but sadly because of the monsters. I hadn't 'quite' thought of it that way before. Sam's 'Change Gonna Come' is THE true Anthem of the Civil Rights Movement, as relevant now as it was then, as is Marvin's 'What's Going On'. WHEN will those racist, murderous bastards ever wake up to the horrors they've inflicted on us? Just when we think we havea modicum of peace and love in the White House with the Obamas (you HAVE to see inside their new Center, if only on the 2hr show I watched last night on MSNow), along comes donnydemento to fuck us all up again with his special brand of 'birtherism' bullshit. One mention during the show stuck with me: that most young people (20yr olds) have lived ONLY under the orange twit's regime - have no idea what it was like during the Obama years.

Frank Nuts's avatar

Paul, I see what you did there. Pretty cool

Let's find how who actually authored the Shitpile -- we know it wasn't Shitler (or Vance) who, until yesterday, didn't know what it said. Steve Witkoff, Real Estate Broker and U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East, with flourishes from the "ever-ready-to-grift everywhere" Kushner to assure there was a huge money pot to dip into? John Kerry was a principal architect of Obama's JCPOA, but he never gets any credit.

Linda Wilson-Gordon's avatar

Perfect. Let's send it to every single congress person currently running and start a national campaign.

Fastball Fredo's avatar

Jeff, I see our national embarrassment was on the world stage and lived down to our expectations.. a needless war, a war of choice, billions of our tax dollars to pay for this fiasco… and what did the US receive? And what did Iran give up? Signing the MOU at Versailles where Germany was humiliated in 1919 and Donald and his American crew totally oblivious to the slight. “Golf with MAGAs”.. folks, it’s very hot in AZ, a number of the group will not play. However I did get out with 12 others.. at lunch afterwards those guys were so excited about the comments concerning Michelle Obama. Asked what I thought and did I watch.

I responded that I did not watch, but did see the clip of some no name rasseler making the remark.. I stated that this guy was the same who at his weigh in could barely walk and threw up on himself in front of the press corps.. why should I listen to his musings? It’s all white trailer trash anyways.. and why not have a tractor pull and really rip up the lawn.. Needless to say my remarks were not well received… I got no more f**ks to give with this crew… Best to all fellow Travelers.

I have MAGAot relatives that are impossible to have any intelligent discourse with. When you present them with some facts they just throw up a condescending chuckle with "libtard" or "TDS" thrown in.

Fastball Fredo's avatar

Dave, my reply to those who say I have TDS… I do not wear a tampon on my ear… I do not wear a diaper on the outside of my trousers.. that usually shuts them up quickly..

David M Marko's avatar

The snowflake comment can also amusingly be flipped when they get their panties in a bunch over some trivial nonsense.

HI2thDoc's avatar

That's because intelligent and MAGA are mutually exclusive

HH Mohr's avatar

I've known many MAGA people who ARE intelligent, but have been duped by Faux & Friendz and have gone down the wrong rabbitholes.

steve robertshaw's avatar

Yeah, it's indefinable but there's certainly some subcategory of intelligence that is required to discern facts from fictions.

george campbell's avatar

High on the intelligence scale but sadly , even higher on the gullibility scale . Also , too lazy to research the truth .

Denise Donaldson's avatar

My answer there is that they're either feigning belief for some reason, or they're desperate to be lied to.

HH Mohr's avatar

There are people blithely unaware of what's really happening because they are inside the bubble of a false narrative. I'm saying this because I've had to bite my tongue so many times, once I realize I'm trying to talk to someone with a whole different belief system.

Denise Donaldson's avatar

I submit that if they're unaware, it's because they want to be. To be that ignorant, they have to work at it.

consciousegalitarian's avatar

Fredo, thanks for reporting on the MAGolfers. It's sad that they "loved" Hokit's comment about his considered conclusions about the appropriate level of femininity of the former first lady, or any woman. I guess your "pals" would assert that all women should hang on every morsel of wisdom from this icon of masculinity who wears a unitard and sweatily wrestles similarly-clad males and vomits in public. I say he should keep his opinions to himself. But if he has the bad judgment to disgorge them, I'm ignoring them

Me, too. We focus too much on the idiot's actions and not nearly enough on why Republicans in Congress, red state Governors, and the Supreme Court are systematically participating in the destruction of the U.S. Every single move, decision, executive order makes us weaker, literally physically, in reputation, and militarily.

There are different factions within the GOP. We need to understand them, and what they are each gaining from kicking all the constructs of checks and balances out from under us, allowing us to slide into fascism.

Skepticat's avatar

You are completely and very painfully correct. The U.S. may soon be U.Sed.to.be. or Utterly Senseless. Sigh.

They seem to care deeply about dressing in the latest fashion- and many of them spend tons of time making sure they look perfect.

Personally, I have no interest in living in any of the ways they seen to think are important. I'll take my jeans, t-shirts, natural face and body, and one well built home any day.

The DNC should realize the Republicans have NO viable candidate for president in 2028 and start priming their own. That is, after they've updated their own leadership and develop a strategy to win back young voters who view the Democratic Party as a graveyard.
