I believe there are a lot of registered republicans out there who have also seen through his evilness and are voting accordingly. We know his base “base” will never waver but they aren’t 50% of republicans; only a percentage of republicans. So I’m choosing to believe that a large majority of voters have seen trump for the wooly booger he is and will see to it that he doesn’t get anywhere near the White House again unless it’s in Tanya Chutkan’s federal courthouse. 💙🇺🇸💙🇺🇸.

Yes. Terrific. I wish two had been added: showing childbirth and breastfeeding (tastefully done of course). We are magical beings. We bring humans to life and make food from our own bodies. We think globally…big picture…30,000 miles up for THE view. And now that we aren’t being shut up so often, now that those women who found it hard to beat back all the subtle and not so subtle oppression have found their voices, now that we have more seats at more tables … it’s obvious what the world has been missing. We kick ass all over the place. What’s been going on for time eternal is a flat out crime. And to think, I’m 76 and have never called myself a feminist. I’m a humanist.

Fabulous! And what perfect timing! As I watched, I remembered what I'd read about Cherokee culture. (The Cherokee are in the Appalachian mountains, not far from where we are. Well, the ones who weren't forced out of THEIR lands and sent on the death march to OK.) It is the eldest woman of the tribe who makes all decisions about war: whether or not to go to war. She is the one who understands what it would mean for the women of the tribe: no husbands, no fathers, no sons -- and the loss will fall by far the hardest on the women of the tribe. So she thought long, and very carefully, before she made her decision.

This really touched me. I believe this. Ask us women what happens when all the men, young and old, die. Not just in terms of functionality, but in terms of emotional and spiritual wages. If the leaders want to go to war, let THEM go to war. “Two men go in, one comes out!” We’ve recently watched a bunch of war movies from WWI through to Afghanistan. What are we doing? I say that up all countries. Sending our best, youngest, strongest to their deaths. For what?

Because, emotional abuse, or physical abuse, is STILL ABUSE! Get over it Dickhead Husbands, it's not 1950 anymore, where the cops show up and decide it's the wife's fault that her face in the way of your fist. Deal With It! Not just 1950's. 1960's. 1970's. Anyone else know the story of what happened to Pat Nixon after tricky dick was sent away packing? She went to the ER multiple times with black eyes, broken bones, etc. The ER docs knew what was going on, but of course the boys wouldn't tell, right? She always had a tragic look about her. I felt sure way back in the day that he was abusing her -- and probably had been throughout their sorry marriage. (And it goes without saying that abuse -- all the way up to murder -- occurs FREQUENTLY. At least 1 in 3 women have been physically abused by a partner. Count me in as one. Took me 8 years to leave him. I mean, it was "only" two times, and he was "REALLY, truly sorry" afterward both times. And I KNEW better.)

in 2016, I was almost catatonic the next morning -- I usually arrived at work before most people were in the office, so when I got there, only one other person was there. She's black and had a son in his late teens, and we'd become friends over the previous few months. We rage-cried together for a while -- she was so afraid for her son, especially under a Trump regime.

She was right to be worried. He was found dead -- shot -- one night in the summer of 2017; no one was ever arrested, and no reason was ever uncovered. It broke her for a long time, and I totally get that. I would have been broken, too.

Austin tends to be pretty liberal, but we also have a large number of right-wing assholes here that feel especially entitled -- some of them don't even hold elective office.

Thoughts on election day from smart people, not named Jeff:

Joyce Vance: Here’s an early prediction: Donald Trump will unilaterally declare victory sometime this evening. He’ll do it no matter what’s going on. He lies about everything—he lied about winning the election in 2020. It should come as no surprise that he will lie about the outcome of this election.

https://joycevance.substack.com/p/election-day

Robert Reich: be prepared for the “red mirage” tonight! It’s a dirty trick Trump used in 2020 and will probably try to use tonight, but it won’t work if you know it’s coming. Please spread the word.

You see, in almost every election, Republicans appear to take an early lead. That’s the red mirage. Then that lead gets smaller throughout the night, which is called the “blue shift.”

This happens because Republican votes tend to be counted before Democratic votes. It’s not magic. Votes are counted by precinct, and Democrats tend to live in more densely populated, urban precincts, while Republicans tend to live in more sparsely populated, rural ones. It just takes longer to count the votes in a precinct with a lot of people than in a precinct with fewer people.

Why hasn’t someone put a law on the books where it’s illegal for candidates (or their representatives, staffers, or hired guns) to make independent declarations. A statement should be the purview of a relatively small bipartisan committee who is fed final numbers and makes a final declaration—the only declaration. It can, and perhaps should, be a completely transparent act so there can be no accusations of trickery or fraud.

Yes, he will try it anyway. But then he could talk til his head fell off and those with authority, with a law to back them, could say “You have a right to your opinion, but that is merely an opinion. We will make an official announcement when we are ready.”

The FFs also couldn't reach millions via either traditional media or social media. It probably made sense to have freedom of speech enshrined in the Constitution.

Too bad we can't just ban Xitter and Facebook. And "Truth". You know, you could probably go after that one for deceptive practices or grifting or false advertising or whatever. Lots of options. And the Wall Street Journal. Ok, they aren't quite as bad as the social apps, but they're annoying as all fuck.

I was so traumatized in 2016 that I literally couldn't leave the house for three days. I couldn't stop crying. When I finally returned to the doggie park where Bella and I went daily, I said to the regulars why I hadn't been able to come. To my surprise, several said, "Me, too"! Re PTSD and a previous election: I finally figured out part of why I have been practically non-functional for the past several months: the shocking loss of H. Clinton to the orange sadist, and now another Woman running against him and the enormous misandry of males of EVERY race against Harris, is too much of a parallel for me to ignore. If a White Male were running against the orange sadist, I hate to say it, but I think there would be no question that the White Male Democrat would win. None of this "razor thin" stuff.

P.S. Is Joey Mannarino planning to cut off his own balls? Enquiring minds, and all that. (And will he have to change his name? "Man" will seem inappropriate, IMHO.)

Later, we went to karaoke bar and there were a lot of people there just comforting each other. We sang sad songs, and told each other and ourselves we'd get through it, together.

When 2020 was finally called, the whole city went crazy. Banging pots and pans, some people driving around in drag with big American flags, dancing in the streets, and an impromptu dance party in the Castro. We all celebrated, together.

The evening of 2016 election, I drove home from the DNC event and took sleeping pills. I woke up in the middle of the night and looked at my iPhone. The Republicans had taken everything: The House, the Senate, and the White House. I was ill. I called in sick. I remember thinking, maybe, maybe the electoral college will realize the accident and honor the popular vote. What happened instead was we saw the early days of "Donny is a Very Special Boy" unfold. What we saw was Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan couldn't control him. Mitch licked his paws and waited. What we saw was unbridled corruption. Every day the news was like "waking up to a jack hammer outside your bedroom window."

So, we have learned who we are up against. There is no fair and balanced available in today's Republican party. Mike Johnson is straight out of central casting for the sweet, mild mannered incarnation of the Anti-Christ. "When fascism comes to America, it will be holding a bible and dressed in the American flag."

When you call us "woke", you bet, we are awake this time and taking no chances. THIS time, let's do this right and end Trump. Then in the next two years, we'll end Trumpism for good.

No pardon for Trump. However, if Trump wins, Biden should spend the next 2-1/2 months pardoning everybody that Trump has ever threatened or criticized, including the whole J-6 committee, the generals who have spoken out, Taylor Swift (why not?) and of course, everyone in his administration. Oh, and the Obamas and Hillary. Trump may still take a wrecking ball to the justice system, but maybe some judges will follow the law.

A pardon presupposes guilt. I don't want Joe Biden "pardoning" anyone who hasn't been found guilty in a court of law for anything. What I want him to do, should the worst happen, is have the felon assassinated. The Extreme Cult said he could, and he should. It's part of his official duties to protect our country, and we need protecting the most from the threat the felon and his ilk present.

I voted almost 3 weeks ago, the first day that in person voting was available in Kansas. Tuesday and Thursday are work from home days for me, which is good, because if I was a day drinker, I'd be drunk already and it's only 10:00 a.m. 😂 I'm still in my pajamas at my home office desk, my hair looks like one of those troll dolls, and my cats are feeling the energy. 😺

Wow. That is the absolute definition of misogyny. If a woman is elected president, it means all the males in the nations have lost their balls.

Actually, what these guys don't know is that women have balls. A woman's ovaries are the equivalent of a man's testes. In men, the gamete producing organs migrate south where they produce sperm that seek to one day find a woman's egg.

More on the fallout from Saturday's Selzer poll results. This is the latest from The Purring Progressive who is going after the New York Times with their latest polling. The Purring Progressive did deep research into the cross tabs at the latest NY Times poll and other polls, and he is finding out that the pollsters are discounting Kamala Harris' voters to support their premise that this is a close or tied election. Example, if Kamala Harris is leading in one category, the pollsters will then add that factor to convicted felon Trump's numbers in another category, so that it makes the overall polling look like it is a close race. This is what The Purring Progressive wrote to his Twitter/X account.

THE FUCKING NYTIMES found the registration advantage for PA Dems, 3 points, in their RAW sample. Their weighting reduced independents and increased to the Republicans apparently to account for "missed Trump voter response."

I STRONGLY suspect the "weird crosstabs" is a data artifact of pollsters switching Dem lean indies to Republican and hiding it in the non-white vote. Look what they have done to Kamala and Dems-a close race narrative supports Trumps chaos. When does weighting become fraud?

Selzer DOES NOT do this. She catches waves because she doesn't weight to PRESUMED party ID. This is why she caught 2016 and 2020 and I believe, 2024. Look at the raw data, pre-weight, it favors Democrats BY A FUCKING MILE. Yes I'm mad.

They cannot believe what they are seeing, plus they are that afraid of MAGA that they will do anything and everything to make this a close race when it is not one

It will be a massive accomplishment for her if Iowa actually goes Harris. She’s got courage and is way out on the limb as the only one out of five Iowa pollsters reporting these results.

Your words capture exactly what so many of us are feeling right now—a mix of hope and fear, and a fierce desire for justice. I want to believe, too, that we're standing on the edge of something powerful, that women in America are ready to remind those in power what accountability really means.

The ache we feel today, the heaviness, it’s part of the courage to keep going. When they try to strip away rights and dignity, they only fuel our fire. Kamala’s words ring like a battle cry because they echo our collective frustration and resolve.

We’re not alone in this, and we’re stronger than the fear. Let's cling to this "nauseous optimism" because it’s better than silence, and it’s certainly better than giving in.

Yeah, every election gets hyped up as the "most important one ever," just like every World Series or Super Bowl. But this one is that, for a couple of huge reasons.

One, this is Trump's last time heading the ticket. Even the lowest forms of maga human/fecal hybrid that you wouldn't even scrape off your shoe for fear of it spreading would not advocate for him to run at age 82, if he were to live that long. This is IT for him. Beat him now, beat him forever. Beat him now and turn him over to the legal system without fear of pardon. (Oh, and anyone advocating either Biden or Harris giving out a pardon as a "unifying gesture" can kiss my ass.)

Two, maga is a personality cult, full stop. The difference between the Tea Party and maga is that the Tea Party had no unifying figure for the mouthbreathing losers of the genetic lottery to rally around. They just dressed up in 3 corner hats and soiled themselves. Personality cults do not outlive the personality. They just don't. Eliminate the Orange Shitblimp and watch the morons cannibalize each other. MTG, Gaetz, Donny Jr.....a million pretenders will try to grab the reins and command the mob. All will fail. Ask Raul Castro how that goes.

The ugliness and christofascism behind maga will not go away, for sure. The SCOTUS is still deeply corrupt. But if anyone thinks they'll be any kind of force with JD Vance at the tip of the spear, they're kidding themselves.

Win this one, beat him for good. Channel the Mortal Kombat spirit -- FINISH HIM!
