Last weekend over here in Germany, anti-AfD demonstrations didn't just manifest in Berlin and Munich, but all over the country, and in numerous cities, bigger ones down to smaller ones. It is still plain unbelievable how all of this could ever happen again around here. And then again, how all of this could ever happen again all around the globe which is currently going on everywhere. I was born in 1959, I have always trusted in and voted for democratic (social liberal) parties, and up until about 10 years ago, I firmly believed this world becoming a better place for everyone, well, at least for most of the people. But today, the future ahead is just a s***thole to look into.

Exactly. I was at a demo in a Northern German City-State of around half a million and we had around 50,000 at our demo. Until around 10 years ago the world was getting better. Putin has been working hard since 1989 to make the world a worse place. Somehow he does not get that living in a shitty country that he has sucked all the wealth out of with no family around him and trusting no one, is a shitty life, not one to be envied. Trump does not understand this either. Of course Trump has lots of family around him and he does not understand anything anyway, except how to be a dictator. That is his superpower. He is not good a real estate, thus Greenland, Panama, Canada.

The Munich Security Conference was a hopeful note for me in some ways, and in other ways I felt worried it was all talk and no do. On the other hand, because the political conversation was intelligent, something one is not getting enough of in the US right now, like Zelenskyy, or Mark Rutte, or the PM of Iceland, so many, that I just hope that when those who spoke positively of Trump did so, it was because they were being politic and not what they really think.

Also, here are the Starbucks demographics according to them. Seems that the "White" women are working in greater numbers than the "White" men, but as a group they outnumber other demographics.

https://about.starbucks.com/uploads/2020/10/Starbucks-Workforce-Demographics-Data-Description-August-2020.pdf

Only stupid people do not understand that we are all the same race, with variation in skin color, eye size and color, hair color and texture, ear attach or detached lobes, longer first or second toe, eye shape, skin dryness, vision, hearing etc... It makes us interesting. Cloning everyone to look the same is a terribly boring idea, and I cannot imagine why people would want that.

I did not hear Scholz' speech in anger against JD Vance, yesterday morning, but in essence he said, we stayed out of your elections, you stay out of ours. One could also read that to mean stay out of our country too. There was a hate attack in Munich on Friday morning or Thursday, where some crazed radicalized person drove his car into a demonstration killing a mother and child and the US legacy media keeps talking about how this happened before Vance arrived as if his well being were the only thing that counted in this situation. It was really sickening the way that the bully boy in the school yard has his suck ups. That is how the legacy media is reporting on this administration. Yeech!

Our VP, and 2 Ps are all Nazis in their thinking. Keep an eye on their Concentration camp on Guantanamo.

Expand full comment
Linda Weide's avatar

Me too. Instead, I have been one of the people demonstrating against the AfD in Germany. Actually, my latest sign was a protest against Musk, and the AfD, or Weidel the AfD chancellor candidate who is living in a major form of denial. I rhymed Musk with Migrationshass, which is immigrant hate, even though it is not a perfect rhyme it works well enough. "Keine Weidel, Kein Musk, Kein Merz, Kein Migrationshass!" "No Weidel, No Musk, No Merz, no Immigrant hate!)

I loved that there were several speeches against JD Vance in the Munich Security Conference this weekend, and some were crying for a wake up call to Europe to get its shit together and stop depending on the US as an ally. This is made even more clear by Donald Trump sending Rubio and some other of his flunkies to Saudi Arabia next week, to meet with Russia and negotiate a peace deal for Ukraine. As if Europe is just going to let Donald Trump do this. I am waiting to see how long the European Diplomats carefully choose their words when referring to Trump. JDV is already been shat on by a bunch of people by inference about him telling people to be willing to work with the AfD who see that immigration is Germany's biggest problem. Right now I would say Musk and his billions are a far bigger problem as he illegally funnels them to the AfD so they and Putin can. put misleading ads into the election. What is knows as hybrid warfare.

Yesterday Senator Lindsay Graham was a speaker in a session where he suggested 2 main things. 1) That Russia be told that if they break any peace with Ukraine, Ukraine will automatically be accepted into NATO. 2) That if Zelenskyy gives Trump Billions of dollars worth of valuable minerals then he can go back to the American people and tell them how much they need to now protect their own assets in Ukraine, thus in go American troops. Problems with these ideas? It was suggested that if a peace that was broken led to automatic NATO admission for Ukraine, Putin would have no impetus for peace, because then he would not be able to continue with his bid to recreate the Soviet Union. Secondly, it is hardly clear that the US has given as much to Ukraine in dollars, as Trump is trying to get in minerals. We also did not hear why it was a good idea for Trump and Putin to plan a peace without Europeans at the table who will be expected to help maintain any peace or ceasefire deal, or Ukraine, who has to agree to these things. Of course the threat will be that if Zelenskyy does not accept the deal that Trump makes, Trump will give Putin the go ahead to do what he wants. Isn't that what Putin is doing anyway?

European leaders are meeting tomorrow in France to discuss what they want from the Ukrainian situation. Let us see if they can follow their words with actions. We know that for Trump it is hard to sustain anything. We shall see what happens. More and more people have his number. JD Vance is no Donald Trump, he is also not welcome in Germany or Britain. There, they are up in arms about some abortion clinic reference he made because it was disinformation as usual. He loves to spread that, like his buddy Musk. They don't even say Oops! when it is pointed out. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c87d9j17pjqo

I hope that JDV ends up on the outs with the Donster, and Donny does everything in his power to ruin JDVs political career.

The French were racist but less so, closer to Africa, Arabian influences along the Mediterranean so more familiar with different colored races...when the French colonized Canada and the Mississippian New Orleans and St. Louis, they inter-married with Native Americans and Blacks. Racism typically stems from fear of invasion, and in the last generations of Americans that they want to erase history for, racism is due to squelched anxiety "guilt" of black retribution and vengeance for enslaving and oppressing millions of Africans that has been passed down generation to generation.

So what's up with Usha, JD's wife? As a very educated woman, she's actually on board with this Nazi bullshit? What the hell is wrong with the shameless wives of these smegma slatherers?! Why are they breeding with these obviously deeply defective males? Melania and Barron are another example of the bizarre acceptance of puke-o-rama breeders and their not-quite-with-it spawn.

Education has nothing to do with whether or not a person is a doormat. You see smart, educated, successful women all the time be married to abusers and worse. What kind of culture was she raised in? Her parents were immigrants from a misogynistic culture. Not saying they were themselves, but who knows? When you still have honor killings in the 21st century within some cultures, you know that women are not treated equally across the globe. What role models did she have in the women in her family? She's been married to him long enough that she knows exactly who he is. Apparently it's ok with her or she would have left him a long time ago. Just an observation, but it's your emotional IQ that is the telling point on whether or not you take abuse, not your scholastic IQ. It's all about neediness. The higher the level, the more you will tolerate. Many times you can't see it in the open with a person. You just know it's there when you see the partner they pick and what level of bad behavior they are willing to put up with. I identify with this because this was me years ago.

The down side is that people's 401ks will also be similarly impacted.

I want them to feel pain for their demonizing of women, gays, Jews, immigrants, POC, indigenous people. This is what they wanted and now they're getting it and it will be painful. Unfortunately the poor that didn't vote for this destruction will suffer also. If Medicaid is gutted people are going to die. I just wish it was only the MAGA's.

Expand full comment
Malcolm's avatar

That's why I can't make up my mind whether they should go for it or not. It would only be a temporary solution, because of legislative legerdemain, and it would hurt many people. Given the current private debt crisis, private debt is 145.54 % of GDP in Sep 2024, whereas public debt is 123%. The former is very dangerous to the economy, and impedes growth, but the later is no danger whatsoever, since it is held by the US Government. The risk is that this disparity puts us in a situation very similar to 2008, where private debt was in excess of the public debt to a very high degree. We always can count on the GOP to crash the economy, and this "adminstration", if you can call it that, will be no different.

I think they can. There is a batch of republicans in congress who always vote against raising the debt ceiling because they do not understand money, how it is made, sovereign debt, and why, when properly managed, the latter is never a problem. Sovereign debt is only a problem when a) one does not control one's own currency (as in the EU bloc), b) there is too much debt, leading to inflation, or too little, leading to a recession.

Conceivably, yes. The Freedom Caucus is very resistant to passing a budget that includes tax cuts without cuts in spending. Firing a bunch of people will not significantly reduce the budget. The debt ceiling has to be raised. Right now, Congress has been lurching from Continuing Resolution to Continuing Resolution, with the Democrats pulling the Republicans’ nuts out of the fire.

Time for the Democrats to draw a line in the sand and say, No. Shut it down, if there is no agreement on sunsetting the billionaires’ tax cuts. IIRC, the round of tax cuts that passed the first time that thing was in office are due to sunset. Time to let them go.

I WROTE and POSTED THIS on July 5th, 2023:

____________

Unfortunately, “History Repeats Itself”.

The 1930’s in Germany saw the rise of Adolf Hitler. Hitler was one of the most, if not the most, despicable people in the recorded history of Planet Earth. With a ruthless, unrelenting, lie-ridden program of propaganda, he managed to turn “normal” people into cult-like zombies. He created an atmosphere of hatred and rage. Citizens of Germany turned against other German citizens. Estimates for the total death count of the Second World War generally range somewhere between 70 and 85 million people.

In 2016, we saw the election of Donald Trump to the Office of President of the United States of America. Donald Trump is the most despicable person ever to rise to power in the USA. I have no doubt that Russia’s behind-the-scenes support of Trump’s campaign was a crucial reason why Trump was elected President. I refer to Donald Trump as “America’s Disgrace and Presidential Accident.” He was also elected because many, many Americans did not take the time to educate themselves as to the despicable nature of Trump, did not hold him accountable for his constant, unending tirade of lies and propaganda, and did not understand that apathy (in this case, not voting) can lead to terrible consequences.

When one takes the time to think carefully about the menace to American society Donald Trump is, one can easily, as I’ve done, list out Donald Trump’s “firsts”:

• First exxx-President to have his company convicted for fraud

• First Presidential candidate to have bankrupted a casino business (three, in fact)

• First Presidential candidate to have had to pay $25 million to settle the lawsuit against him for his university scam (Trump University)

• First US citizen to be elected to US President with the assistance and support of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin

• First US President to refer to White Supremacists (neo-NAZI’s and KKK’ers) as “fine” people

• First serial liar to be elected to US President

• First Grifter to be elected to US President

• First US President to divide US citizens, sowing and encouraging anger and hate

• First US President to attempt the extortion of the leader of friendly nation

• First US President to have a family member receive a $2 Billion payoff from a foreign government (the Saudi’s)

• First US President to bilk the US Treasury for millions of dollars (which he did by authorizing US Government agencies to purchase services from his solely-owned company)

• First President to be impeached twice

• First US President on whom the dictator of a foreign nation has damaging Kompromat

• First US President to incite an insurrection

• First US President to attempt the overturn of an election

• First exxx-President to be INDICTED

• First exxx-President to be INDICTED TWICE

Donald Trump will achieve additional “firsts”, including:

• First exxx-President to be convicted of a felony

• First exxx-President to be sentenced to prison

Trump issued pardons to many of his insiders who committed crimes against the American People – to name some of those, Roger Stone, Paul Manafort, Michael Flynn, Steve Bannon. Trump has also said he will issue pardons to those who were convicted of criminal acts committed during the storming the U.S. Capitol on January 6th.

Steve Bannon and two of his associates created a “Build the Wall” scam to bilk millions of dollars from thousands of Trump supporters. Two of Bannon’s associates were found guilty of that scam. Bannon was pardoned by Trump!

Trump’s tax cuts for the wealthy and his incompetent, inept, ignorant handling of Covid caused all of the inflation our country is experiencing. Let that sink in. Fraud Trump called Covid “a hoax”…. and, then, over 1 million Americans died. Let that sink in.

Donald Trump said in 2016 that a president under indictment would "cripple the operations of our government" and create an "unprecedented constitutional crisis" -- years before he himself was indicted on federal charges while running for a second term as president.

Donald Trump made the decision to enter the 2024 Presidential race for only one reason – Trump thinks that entering the race for President will enable him to avoid accountability for the crimes he’s been (and will be) indicted for.

Going further, “I just don’t get it!” It is truly mind-boggling to me - how can ANY reasonable, educated American fall for a liar, con, fraud, fascist like Donald Trump?

That said, at least 30-35 million American voters have become members of the cult of Donald Trump. You could say the same exact thing about the ignorant, despicable people in Germany who aided and supported despicable Hitler’s rise to power.

THERE IS ONLY (please excuse the language) ONE GOD DAMN WAY to stop Donald Trump from totally destroying our democratic republic. VOTE. AND, VOTE ONLY FOR DEMOCRATS. WE MUST TAKE BACK CONTROL OF THE HOUSE, WE MUST TAKE BACK CONTROL OF THE SENATE AND WE MUST RETAIN CONTROL OF THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT. AND, WE MUST NOT ONLY VOTE, WE MUST DO EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER TO ENSURE THAT EVERYONE REGISTERS TO VOTE and GETS OUT TO VOTE. VOTER APATHY WILL LEAD TO ONLY ONE THING – THE COMPLETE AND UTTER DESTRUCTION OF OUR DEMOCRACY.
