Yeah, Carl Palmer left for Asia. I would have liked to have seen them with Powell. I saw Greg Lake on a solo tour at a small theater years ago where he did a Q&A and sang from his King Crimson and ELP days. Still had the pipes. I was amazed at how many young people were there.
I saw Asia, and it was pretty impressive. But I am a much bigger Steve Howe fan, so Palmer wasn't really my main focus.
If you search Youtube for keith emerson fanfare for the common man, you will find a video a concert where Jeff "Skunk" Baxter and John Entwistle join Keith and Carl. It is amazing
I was lucky enough to see ELP with a full orchestra at Madison Square Garden in the 1970’s…..exact date a little hazy. After the show we saw the orchestra was dropped due to logistical/ cost issues.
Oh you can count on it. Steve Howe and the rest of Yes were also a fave, but I loved Rick Wakeman the most. Saw him doing his solo work a few times. Journey to the Center of the Earth was epic.
I read somewhere that Greg Lake wrote ‘Lucky Man’ when he was 12 years old. ELP was a great band. I saw them in L.A. when ‘Brain Salad Surgery’ was released. I was in high school. What a show!
“Oooo what a Lucky Man he was” Emerson Lake & Palmer. If you know the song, it ends: “no money could save him, so he lay down and he died”.
Yes please!
One of my favorites!
Same! I saw them twice in concert. Absolutely fantastic. I was a huge fan.
I didn't see ELP, but I did see Emerson, Lake and Powell, and I have to admit that was life changing. Keith is a god on the keys!

A great album. Probably still my favorite though Trilogy ranks high too
