Honest question: If not all of this, what exactly does this country consider a national security threat?

Evidently, these days, it's tourists who either made a mistake on their (already granted) visa application or, like the German girls (teens? young adults?) who were detained in Hawaii, for not having pre-booked a hotel for their stay.

A CA trial attorney I follow on TikTok said that the two female German tourists were strip searched and then forced to wear a green prison uniform. I had fking nightmares about that sh!t all night long.

The good news is that we had a great turnout for the protest on Saturday in my small town despite the cold rainy weather. Lots of excellent signs (all spelled correctly), massive drive by support, and high energy. When the people lead the leaders will follow.

Aw, thank you for turning out to protest in the rain (hope it wasn't cold, too!). Yes, the German tourists were put through hell for nothingтАФwasn't it that they didn't book a hotel because they were staying with family members or something?

I can't wait until that fat orange fuck and his circus are goneтАФas gone as the billions in tourism dollars that the country won't get because no one wants to come to a fascist state.

That's not exactly where I'm going with my question (I'm more asking with regard to the CIA, FBI, NSA, etc. -- aren't they paying attention to all of this?), but I understand. They're definitely trying to erode our freedoms one step at a time, pushing things as far as they can go. It starts with someone else. And then it's someone we know. And then it's us.

I think the surveillance state is all ok with this, and those are the people they are 'keepint on'. But what I wonder about is this deputizing of locals and ICE not being required to get a warrant first before picking people up off the street - it's like a license to profile and there's zero accountability. The border security question is real, they are holding foreign nationals with documentation because they don't like their travel arrangements? That's a problem. I feel like there should be some kind of angry Moms unit on each college campus wearing vests and with bullhorns to yell if they see something going down (like Ozturk), or a group of crossing guards walking people home, something like classes for college kids to know their rights and be able to step in to advocate or witness.
