skangirl - Because the damned EC is in the Constitution & it will take an Amendment to be rid of it. I’m going to keep recommending this til I’m blue in the face; get Elie Mystal’s book: “Allow
Me to Retort - A Black Guy’s Guide to the Constitution” preferably in audiobook form so that you can hear it in his own passionate voice.

You will not only learn tons about the Constitution but you’ll laugh while doing so & you’ll come away with hope that we can fix it & the not so Supreme Court without amendments.
If you can’t afford the book, then listen to his entire series of podcasts called;
Contempt of Court. He just started doing the podcast this past June. It’s from The Nation Magazine about how to reform the SCOTUS
I was 5 when I discovered that my parents weren't allowed to vote for Kennedy because we lived in DC. On my 6th birthday, the 23rd Amendment was ratified, giving DC its 3 stupid EC votes. They should've gotten voting representation in Congress at the same time.
My hope is that the pro-choice backlash will fill state legislatures with enough Democrats to enable fixing that oversight. (Of course, if DC was suddenly filled with white Republicans, they'd have a GQP representative and senators so fast your head would spin.)
