it's not my intention to write about Trump's trial every day — it might get boring fast. but as long as Trump's trial keeps making news, I can't ignore it

After all of the bullshit and threats the tangerine turd has spewed, he should already be in jail. Most people would've been locked up for similar behavior. Since he has already spent over $50 million in campaign donations on legal fees, he probably uses these toxic rants as a funding mechanism from his very naive base.

Just keep telling it like it is. I think it, sometimes I even say it, but nobody really pays any attention to me and my 10 followers. If you stop drawing attention to how insane he is, people assume this is all fine, normal even. This has been going on since the campaign for 2016. And not just from trump, but the entire GOP. Look at all the shit that has happened recently. #BeetlejuiceBoobies #McCarthyFlushed #TrumpGagged #DebateDebacles1&2 #HouseDikPikDisplay And things are about to get worse. Keep shaming the main stream media for normalizing this chaos.

As a psychologist for 43 years, I’m planning on Donald decompensating beyond everything we’ve already seen during this next year of court trials. He’s a deluded, weak, boring, ignorant, mindless monster that the Republicans have been propping up since the beginning. He will not be able to track and comprehend all the complications and ramifications of each case. This repugnant orange zit has long convinced himself that he’s a strategic genius, but he’s up against a wall now and all his blithering won’t save him

Yeah, I responded with something along these lines either here or on someone else’s Substack; that Donald is not so much the worry now but his followers are. They are as crazy as he is and much better armed and they are scattered all around the country. They can start a thousand little fires and law enforcement can get overwhelmed quickly. I sincerely fear for what LDFF has begun.

I only made it 40 years till burn-out and retirement, and saw a lot of people with diagnosable personality disorders during that time. I’m not surprised that the fraud trial, more than any of the other trials, is fueling his decompensation; he’s always been afraid people will find out he’s a failure. I also wonder if his decompensation is what’s making him appear more demented. On a lighter note, when I read that some magats want him to be the next speaker I had a lovely fantasy that the Rs from districts Biden won all suddenly have emergencies and miss the vote, throwing it to Jeffries. Now, back to reality!

If I understand correctly the gag order established by Judge Engoron is the first actual court ordered gag order directly placed on Trump.

I am fairly sure this constitutes something called a "precedent" which, again if I understand matters correctly, can be used by other judges as they encounter situations that call for a gag order.

Hopefully this one gag order will become the first in a long series of other gag orders from other judges with each one delineating different new boundaries with which to confine Trump's ability to speak in the manner he does.

We all know the only real way this ends is with him sitting in a jail cell for contempt of court where he will not have any means available to him to carry out his stochastic campaign against Democracy.

Expand full comment
Sandy Simmons's avatar

Agree 100%. Unless this judge actually puts his ass in jail to back up the gag order - which trump believes doesn’t apply to him - this is fun and games for trump. That’s how we got where we are today.

Today's report struck me as funnier than usual -- might have been my mood but it was great! Seeing Trump all pissed off, venting and whining and powerless to stop what's happening to him just makes me happy!

I think my favorite part was about the disclaimer he said he put in his financial statements telling the banks "don’t even bother reading them". Priceless!!! Too bad the judge can't just take this as an official admission of guilt... would save everyone a lot of time and court officials a lot of doxxing.

So no, it hasn't gotten at all old and boring yet... :)

I don't think Judge Engoron went far enough. He should've just told Donald Trump that he was citing him for direct criminal contempt of court for that outrageous and mendacious post about his "law clerk." That woman is no doubt an accomplished lawyer, and what Trump did what is contumacious. He did it in open court directly in front of the judge, and therefore committed criminal contempt of court. Criminal contempt is a common law crime. It matters not a tinker's dam that the judge is presiding over a civil proceeding. The judge should've popped him right between the eyes at the very moment it happened.

He should've said "Mr. Trump, I don't know where are you think you are, but it's not one of your rallies, it's not your office or living room. It's my courtroom. I hearby cite you for direct criminal contempt of court and order you to appear at 5:00 PM today in my courtroom to answer to charges that I will prefer against you by 3:00 PM. Bring two things with you to that proceeding, Mr. Trump, a criminal lawyer to represent you in that, and your toothbrush. I am empowered to punish criminal contempt summarily, but I evidently need to consult with your Secret Service detail to see where they will spend the night while they are protecting you in the event that I convict you of criminal contempt and send you to jail."

"Oh, and by the way, Mr. Trump, your lawyers had best be listening too; just in case you were thinking that my statements demonstrate unfairness in dealing with you, such that I can be disqualified, no litigant may provoke a judge into disqualification. I call it the "son of a bitch" rule. You can't stand up in open court and call the judge a son of a bitch and then use that as a basis to have him disqualified. Any such claim is nonsense would bring the entire judicial system to a halt.

"Call your next witness, Ms. James."
