Epic response to Ann Coulter by comedian Elizabeth Booker Houston:

https://x.com/TheRickWilson/status/1826734475524669605

Janice's avatar

There ya go. Finally, she verbalized every single thought I had in my head about Coulter and the other, just complete shitheads, who commented about the love and pride Gus has for his dad. Divergent or not, Gus is a well loved person who is comfortable with who he is. Too bad the waste of space republicans are not.

Deb's avatar

Yes...and his family is comfortable with him as well! That makes all the difference in the world in how Gus sees his world, I am sure. The American Family Values are on display right in the Walz family, if your heart is still open enough to recognize it!😍

Linda Weide's avatar

While Walz's son Gus is called "neuro-divergent," as a long time teacher who taught hundreds of children, Gus is more common than you think. So, how divergent is he really? The truly divergent ones are the MAGAs. They have what is known as Oppositional Defiant Disorder and in some cases psychopathy. It is not only divergent, but of the type that is hard to treat and best dealt with by being in a locked up facility of some type.

P123Sunny's avatar

I thought Gus behaved like a (ok stay with me here-) “NORMAL” person would in that situation on a National stage.

shee-rah's avatar

Yeah! If my dad were on that stage speaking as the candidate for Vice President, I’d be bawling too.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

*bows in your general direction for this insight*

P123Sunny's avatar

Someone noted that Gwen didn’t pull him back or obstruct him in any way. 💕

So - maybe ‘normal’ then? 😏

Linda Weide's avatar

I saw so many people tearing up at the convention because let's face it, it was moving! I teared up too. As a former classroom teacher, the bully says this shit, but when someone strong stands up to him the crowd can turn. Trump is going to be facing this. I liked the slap back at Donald Trump by D.L. Hughley

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oF3LcW9QDHA

Inviting comedians is a great idea, because it is giving the convention the feeling of SNL. If we want the youth to vote making the convention educational and entertaining together is a great mix.

Deb's avatar

When I saw Ann Coulter's remark yesterday...I just called her a hollowed-out soul with nothing left to redeem her as a human being, and later I saw Elizabeth Booker Houston's Tik-Tok Takedown, and I stand in awe! Thank you Music Mama for posting it!

I am here for every minute of it. And may he take the whole toxic Party down with him.

Donatella Dillon's avatar

Still hoping he deteriorates more and more before elections, to the point that cannot be ignored by his supporters anymore…

Jennifer Dyke's avatar

I think Dear Leader is already at the point that his "deterioration" can't be ignored any longer. It seems clear to me that the Republican party knows the race is over and that their orange-encrusted mental patient can't pull in the numbers any longer at his rallies or even on his TV "interviews". The Democratic party has finally found their voice -- no more "Mr. or Ms. Good Guys", that's for sure. The gloves are off and that orange thing in a badly fitting suit is going all the way DOWN!

David (Dave) Jaspers's avatar

That picture gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "tan lines"

Deb's avatar

Here's one of his weird-assed whatever they call it on his crappy app that was posted on Shitter...he still thinks he's running against Joe! 🤣

Yep, Dear Leader is like a scratch in an old record -- he keeps skipping back to his good old "Biden days" when he felt superior and sure to win.

Charles Austin's avatar

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

Love that sentiment Jennifer, Sla’inte!

Discreet Music's avatar

More importantly, no more apologies for being decent human beings.

I just with there would be more direct language. “Woman’s right to choose” is so weak; “climate change” instead of global warming; “who you love” instead of gay equality. It all sounds so watered down and dig-whistle.

P. J. Schuster's avatar

Well, I was group watching with Jessica Valenti fans & we were all holding our breath waiting for it; & she DID say it, she said ABORTION.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

His supporters will do nothing. It's the independents and sane GOP that will vote for Harris if they think he's gone totally nuts. I've given up on the cult. They are just hopeless and lost.

Carol Jacobson's avatar

I’m still waiting for his cerebral aneurysm to pop - and the DNC might be enough to do it.

SPW's avatar

They’ll manage to come up with some asshattery excuse for his sorry butt. Any group of fools that thinks that JFK, Jr. is still alive will believe any damn thing. The wilder the tale is, the better they’ll suck it up. I don’t know what kind of water they’ve all managed to drink but clearly, it’s infested them all with RFK, Jr’s brain worms.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Short of shucking off his clothes, and running down the street naked, I can't think what he could do to clue them in "they are so far out where the busses don't run."

Sarah #1's avatar

Let’s all remember that now that Harris is the candidate. Trump is going to be sentenced in September putting it back into the daily news before the election. Also, Chutkan has to put forth her case again, citing in public the elements that a grand jury indicted DonOLD for and that will be in the daily news before the election. Again we are underestimating the power of women voters when we are furious - we are going to vote in enormous numbers. Young people are energized in a way that they weren’t watching two old men vying for power, they have something to believe in and to fight for now. Finally, we continue to underestimate the Democratic Party even though these predicted red waves never happened since the orange monster left office. It’s true that the Sociopathic asshole has his 30% lemming enablers but without appealing to more people that’s not enough to win the electoral college or this election.

Mps's avatar

No complacency

Everybody vote!

SPW's avatar

Has a ruling been made yet about postponing his sentencing until after the election? I believe that request has been made by the felon.

Robert Eckert's avatar

Next hearing is September 16, two days before the scheduled sentencing. Judge Merchan will rule on the immunity issue then, and will or will not postpone the sentencing, but I don't expect to hear anything from him before then.

That's his "look". Cheap, rumpled suit and a long, long red tie. He is such an evil clown. I hope he blows a vein with all his hate. It couldn't happen to a more deserving guy.

That business about Gus made me soooo fucking mad. These are depraved people. NO ONE should ever attack a kid. Ann Coulter and Dinish will rot in hell...and who is Mike Crispi? His last name defines his brain. Asshole. I've never been so fired up to get these bastards back under their rocks. Adam Kinzinger gave ONE HELLUVA SPEECH, too! #TGIF Lets get to work!

Stephanie Lajeskie's avatar

They’re so very “Christian”, aren’t they?

Jill Lanning's avatar

I call them hypochristians

David Skoglund's avatar

Gotta start using that. Apologies in advance for plagiarism.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Crotch Christians, Christofacists, Y'all Qada, The Talibama, there are quite a few names for them.

Susan Niemann's avatar

Right. It's a damned cult... hateful people who have no good reason to be that way...other than they were told to be hateful. Primitive people.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Sadly they are a majority of those who call themselves so. The actual followers of the J-dude are the minority.

Sooz Hall's avatar

I have trouble imagining a follower of TFG who is also truly trying to follow the path of Jesus. Hating others wasn’t a major part of his agenda. “Love your neighbor“ … yeah, that’s more Jesus’ stuff.

Rick Calegari's avatar

Crispi is a 31- year-old wet behind the ears douche bag GOP politician who has nothing better to do but attack kids with special needs. If this idiotic dipshit is supposedly part of the GOPs future, then it's obvious these heartless assholes haven't learned a damn thing.

Donatella Dillon's avatar

It’s absolutely scary and appalling to me to see how many ppl are so cruel heartlessness and soulless…I don’t remember this kind of hateful behavior so visible in the past.. before trump that is, it’s like he opened the gate of Hell and demons were just vomited out

Kaye Stone's avatar

tRUMP made it okay for the mean, angry, underachieving, assholes to speak openly about their hatred.

Betsy L's avatar

Dumpy has given people permission to say whatever cruel, ugly thing that pops into their minds. It used to be taboo to do that, but Dumpy unleashed them. I don't think MAGAts support him because of the border or anything else; it's because if they don't keep him in office they won't have permission to be cruel and ugly anymore.

Dee Whitman's avatar

The hate-filled have always been there, but we had the luxury of not knowing how many existed, and how rotten they are. Then djt essentially gave them permission to show themselves.

As disheartening as it is to see/hear them and to know that about 50% of the world's population is rotten -- many still wear a facade of reasonableness, such as "chief justice" john roberts -- we're better off seeing the world as it is. Knowing what they're capable of (J6; P2025; and many recent SC decisions, to name but a few examples) is the only way we can be alert and ready to push down / dismantle their dangerous plans.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

It started with Newt Gingrich and his contract ON America...

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

A dog has to eat, especially a three headed one!

Susan Keefer's avatar

Shithead Crispi got massacred by Twitter, along with me, for that disgusting post, so he deleted it saying that he didn’t have all the information. 🙄

And today, he is posting that Tim Walz abused his son at the DNC by pulling him away from a teleprompter. This guy is not only a mental case, but he was born evil like most MAGAts. 🤬

Carol Jacobson's avatar

Who the hell is he??? Never heard of him and hope to never hear from him again!

HI2thDoc's avatar

A poster boy for Republican small dick energy, apparently

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Some angry incel, no doubt.

Dee Whitman's avatar

Respectfully noting that I think we're giving them a pass when we say that they were born evil; that makes their evilness something beyond their control, which therefore lets them off the hook re: changing for the better.

I strongly believe (having semi-studied to be a therapist) that most people who are rageful / destructive are thus because of how they were raised -- and that most people are capable of changing for the better, should they choose to put in the work. (Most choose not to, unfortunately.)

Susan Keefer's avatar

I was using it more as a figure of speech, but there are children who are born sociopathic. You can not fix a sociopath or a psychopath. I think that they are interchangeable now. I minored in psychology in college.

I know because I was married to one a long time ago and I got him to see a psychiatrist and psychologist and both said nothing can fix him. I divorced him.

HI2thDoc's avatar

I think you're both right. Many may be able to improve if they: a) admit they have a problem, and b) fully commit to changing. Those are big ifs.

And there are some who are irredeemable, either because they cannot do a) and b) or because they are incapable of change.

HI2thDoc's avatar

He seems to be in the mold of those self-proclaimed alpha males who proudly show off their huge shortcomings in personality, which is basically small dick energy. It seems this type feels aggrieved that they aren't as successful with women as they think they should be, so they blame feminism, equality, wokeism, etc. How about not being a conceited chauvinist? That would make women like them more. Yep, dipshits one and all. My daughters would sooner kick guys like that in the 'nads then give 'em the time of day

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Sounds like you did a great job raising them! Would that more raised strong daughters.

Tess's avatar

Yes! Kinzinger was great!

Teri's avatar

Pls call or tweet @nytimes re Gus Walz. Demand that they use accurate words! Making fun of a child's neurodiversity or any disability ISN'T "partisan bickering" -- it's unacceptable, evil & cruel!

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

🎯They suck so badly.

Schnauzermom's avatar

Oh, I was so pissed I wanted to put my foot all the way up her ass. A young man loves his father so much in the moment that it brings him to tears. And the heartless mf’s think it’s weird? Too bad they’ll never know the joy of loving and being loved. They can all fuck off, go to hell, and hopefully land in the same lake of fire that Rush Limbaugh and his ilk are currently calling home.

Meanwhile, the Dubya folk never highlight they didn't act on Clinton-admin intelligence about the likelihood of an attack on US soil.

Hi Jeff, at 72 I’ve heard a number of speeches by candidates over the years. Madam President hit a home run last night, I can honestly say it was up there with President Kennedy acceptance speech, President Obama’s acceptance speech. Jeff, it was no nonsense, no hyperbole, no whining, no grievance, no doom and gloom. I may not agree with everything on Madam President’s agenda, but you have to totally stop, take account what our country faces at home and abroad…. She is the Commander in Chief that America needs at this moment… America is at a crossroads, Madame President is the one to take the lead based on hope and the promise of America. Best to all fellow travelers.

Lynn Van Haren's avatar

I hope a majority of voters see the situation as clearly as you do

Schnauzermom's avatar

Sadly, I had to unfollow Ally Henry today. According to her and others like her, it wasn’t enough. Not enough about Gaza, not enough about giving Indigenous people their land back, on and on. I agree that America has a long way to go before we can say we’re truly living up to our promises. But it won’t happen all at once, and it sure as fuck won’t happen if the Orange Turd gets into office again.

CroneEver's avatar

Not to mention that if the Orange Fungus gets back in, he's gonna let Bibi turn Gaza into a parking lot, because they're about equal on the psychopath level.

Lynn Van Haren's avatar

Trump has eyes on building beachfront hotels in Gaza

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Jared is measuring for curtains on the beachfront properties.

Carol Jacobson's avatar

What is wrong with these people who expect everything to be perfect? What about the alternative if that orange asshole gets in again? And how about working to save this country that is on the brink of disaster before we worry about anybody else? We have to be healthy and functional before we can help any other country.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

They are probably a bit neurodivergent, to where they don't understand the big picture, and obsess on a single problem. It is a very complicated problem with much nuance which, not knowing the history, or how our gov't works (they seem to think the president waves a magic wand and can fix everything) never mind that the rep held house votes for funding the killing. We can't fix it until we control at least two of the three branches.

Barbara Ferrara's avatar

Michelle Obama warned about the Goldilocks Syndrome. If we expect everything to be “just right” we’ll never do anything.DNChad speakers who addressed just about every issue in some way.

Margaret's avatar

Too many people making Perfect the enemy of Good.

Marla's avatar

The ongoing problem with these so-called 'progressives' is that they persistently allow the perfect to be the enemy of the good. They get so hung up on perfection that their ship will inevitably go down in flames as the band plays, 'But I Did the Right Thing.'

Sometimes, good enough actually gets the job done.

David A Pitock's avatar

You got that right it takes time to fix anything.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Even people on our side can be blinded by ideology to the point of not seeing the practical aspects. As you said, they need to realize Kamala offers them the chance to accomplish these things, whereas trump assuredly does not. Wake up, idealists.

the real pambo's avatar

Some progressives can get too impatient like Veruca Salt (I want it NOW) or can’t see the forest for the trees. It’s hard to watch when there are more pressing matters at hand, such as preserving our democracy.

Our house is on fire and this is no time to argue over who started it or which hose we should use first. We must reprioritize to put the damn fire out and then we can work on the details of rebuilding. Rebuilding won’t happen overnight and requires time and patience. Another win for donald will relegate this American experiment to the ash heap of history.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

If you don't agree with some of her policies, you know that she's not going to be able to implement all of them anyway. There's this ugly part of our government called the House and the SC right now. Until we take over the House and fix the Court, everything she tries to do with be met with resistance.

James Starr's avatar

exactly, that is why I dont let my guard down and relax...it is comforting to know Kamala is taking the lead at this point in time but it all doesn't start and end with her. There is a hella lot of resistance out there that is broken.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

🎯Yes and it took them decades to get there, it won't get undone in one term, for sure.

David A Pitock's avatar

Similar to Barack Obama lot of resistance there. But we keep on working .

Chet Brandt's avatar

Just like Moscow Mitch stated when BHO was first elected:” we will not work with this president.” Fuck him and his minions.

Krista Allen's avatar

I watched all four days with my 21-year-old son, who'd never before been very interested in politics. He insisted on watching all of every day's speakers and was aghast at some of the powerful stories being shared. Being able to introduce him to such heroes as Shirley Chisholm, Tammy Duckworth, Ellissa Slotkin, and so many others, as well as informing him of such horrific events like the Exonerated Five and women having to cross state lines for basic healthcare, was perhaps the best part. He's ready and fired up to volunteer with our local Democratic Party!

P123Sunny's avatar

So much in the fairly recent past!!! 🇺🇸

Alison Parker's avatar

Her speech was one of the best political speeches I've ever heard. Hands down.

SuNew's avatar

Agree. She out-Presidentialled Presidential.

Stephen Brady's avatar

The depth of understanding of the speakers at the DNC was almost breathtaking. What Kamala has inspired in others is amazing. Now, we have to follow her lead and do something.

David A Pitock's avatar

The brave ones who told their stories, historic and not easy is my guess.

Dave Drell's avatar

Fantastic speech, no question; but I still want AOC delivering another speech- she lit it ON FIRE🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Alison Parker's avatar

Sure, AOC was good, but nowhere near Harris. And this post is about Madam Vice President.

Anita Smibert's avatar

Donald was obviously tag teaming because they forgot to use ALL CAPS in some of the rage tweets. I smell a rat that looks like Stephen Miller. Really surprised his head didn't explode. Partisan bickering? It's called good versus evil. Dinesh D'Souza should be one of the "mass deportation" people along with Elon Musk, Rupert Murdoch, Peter Thiel, Nick Adams, Juanita Broderick and Brigitte Gabriel. I'm so sick of horrible people, who can't feel love or pride. They wallow in self pity and victim-hood.Bring on the joy.

I was thinking that too--there's no way he could be typing that fast without tons of typos, random caps, and misspellings.

James Starr's avatar

I have heard Donald cannot Read ! So how can he type words? Let alone at the speed of thought...he has to have some MAGA dirtbags doing it for him as he blurts things out

He might use voice typing for his own screeds

James Starr's avatar

that's the most likely answer !

Someone pointed out that Kamala's acceptance speech didn't contain a single joke at Dump's expense. She had plenty to rip into him about, but she was deadly serious and it showed.

I would hate to have EVER faced her as a prosecutor. Or, say, in a televised debate.

Schnauzermom's avatar

I can’t wait to watch her surgically disembowel Drumpf in their debate. It will be glorious!

Deborah Hunter's avatar

I will be out of the country that night. I'll have to make sure my family tapes the debate. I still won't be surprised if he finds a way to back out of it. She will crucify him. He'll lose his short temper and be really ugly.

arne link's avatar

I hope someone will stop him from stalking her like he did to Hilary. F*#k**g pig that he is.

DonP's avatar

The thing about that is he wasn't really stalking her, he was maneuvering to always remain on camera. He knew that when she was speaking, the camera would be on her, so he just moved around so that he'd be in the shot as well.

He learned how all that works from his time on The Apprentice.

It's really an old trick as well. And it's one of the reasons that most televised debates have the old lectern set. So that when the camera focuses on one candidate, the other(s) aren't also in shot.

Dave Drell's avatar

She’ll kick him in his diaper pants!

Teri's avatar

Yeah, wonder if they have the "no walking around, no audience and cutoff mics

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Yes, she will eviscerate him.

She said exactly what I thought: “Donald Trump is an unserious man.” That is a brutal statement. She went with core values and shredded him without a flicker of silliness. Wiped the floor with his “nonsense.”

Stephen Brady's avatar

If he shows up for the debate she will flay him. The Senator who made a nascent supreme tremble… I think Donnie Dollhands’ handlers will keep him home that night.

Pope Buck I's avatar

Yeah, I think the chances of him actually showing up are, at this point, about as likely as Beyonce showing up at the *Republican* convention.

This is the first time I think Ive disagreed with Jeff… I didnt see anything out of place at the donut shop. Really- what’s he’s supposed to ask “how much you make an hour?” what kind of ice breaker should he ask? “Ya’ll voting for me?”

sorry, this is a case of making a mountain

out of a mole hill. I’m not a fan of JD - but when you nitpick something like this

it seems its just filler.

Years ago before she got into politics, I interviewed her a few times in her role as a bankruptcy expert. She was always patient, thorough, never rushed me off the phone (unlike other big time attorneys) and very kind in explaining things at a lay level. A wonderful person.

I'm sure you're seen this elsewhere, but just in case:

It is true that Chump is dissolving right before our very eyes. I will be 78 in 2029 and I will not be dissolving. The DNC was a celebration of Democracy, Freedom, and Joy. The Republicans and Chump are the only ones who have a problem with that.

I’ve heard he’s been ‘melting down’ for SEVEN STRAIGHT YEARS… I’ll believe it when I finally see it.

Thanks. I wait for your column while doom-scrolling. Not much doom today. My dad was an elected official, and as a son and father I will confess, Gus made me cry. Happiness can do that.

We need to just "Do it" and I will be phone banking this morning. I have my postcards all addressed ready to be sent, also.
