I’ve been a political and news junky since I was 12. Back then there were only three channels, the news was considered a service, and they were pretty balanced. The fairness doctrine should never have been rescinded and all cable and radio channels should have been included. Thanks, Ronnie.
Ironically it was 60 Minutes that discovered that the news could be monetized. Now we have Fox with “commentators,”who act like reporters, who can lie about anything they feel like. They don’t even have to rely on sponsors, they make most of their money through cable fees. I canceled my cable several years ago. Also we have newspapers (I’m looking at you NYT) that churn up chaos because it gives them more clicks.
All true, Susan. I remember only 3 channels. Watergate is what got me interested in politics....though working and raising a family took a lot of my attention. It's just horrific what's happened....journalistic integrity is a foreign phrase to these people. 🙄
I know what you mean. For many years I had a train ride commute and had time to read. I wish there were iPads back then!
I stayed in from recess to watch JFK’s inauguration and was fascinated by the Warren commission when I was a high school freshman. I had thought I wanted to be a reporter, got a BA in English, but then got married, had babies, and ended up going back to school for a degree in computer science. Thirty-three years later I retired from my last job, as IT Director for a small manufacturing company. Life happens while you’re trying to figure out what you want to do.
Same here...when you're raising kids and working, there isnt a lot of time for anything else. I get that.

Cronkite, Huntley and Brinkley, and Harry Reasoner.
All of them! True news men. 👍🏻

"Life happens while you’re trying to figure out what you want to do." THAT is the line of the day! 👏👏👏👏
Thank you!
Of course--we all get that. And so do "they".
