I haven’t figured out why the Real ID won’t work. When I got mine I had to present every piece of legal paper that followed me from cradle to this point in my life; all 78 years of it. That meant my birth certificate, marriage license, divorce decree, legal name change back to maiden name, second marriage license plus my social security card and my passport.
Note to unmarried women, DO NOT CHANGE YOUR NAME FOR ANY REASON! Men don’t have all these issues you know.
I am so fucking glad I never married & had to change my name ( patriarchy be damned) Instead I'm constantly reminded that I have the name of my abuser.

I didn't the second time, because I deal with legal documents and status in two countries. It made my life easier.

"REAL IDs do not meet the SAVE Act’s requirements of showing a holder’s citizenship, and noncitizens are legally permitted to have REAL IDs."
