He never went away, even in 2021. I feel like I've been low-dose poisoned for almost 10 years now. I've wondered why he isn't dead yet, with his fast food diet and all the guns out there. And nobody has dropped a butterfly net on him, but I think the worst thing of all is that the courts keep on cutting him slack. even knowing that all those motions and appeals are meant to buy time, buy time, buy time. And damn it, he gets away with even the worst vulgarities, calling Harris a "shit vice president" and the latent homosexuality he expressed in his disgusting story about Arnold Palmer. Just when I think he cannot get any worse, he manages to do just that.

Ditto. But on the other side, speaking of the courts, Merrick Garland spent the last few years running around with his dick in his hand. Everywhere you look there is voter suppression. Everywhere you look somehow it’s OK for the states to hire psychos who are going to scuttle the vote. Everywhere you look, Donald Trump admits his crimes out loud. That was Biden's mistake. His worthless son forced him to keep a feckless AG for fear of appearing to manipulate the Justice Dept. to his advantage. The whole thing was so fucking lame and childish, but also...the restaurant was closed for hours for this shit. You think the employees who should have been working that day got paid? No chance. Especially since the owner has fought against raising the minimum wage. So he can't pay his workers a couple bucks more an hour, but he can afford to shut down for a day. Sure.

Lisa K. Obrien's avatar

Alison, that is the FIRST thing that I thought when I saw the closed sign. People who live on the edge cannot afford to lose a day’s wage! It will mean there isn’t enough money for rent, or meals will be mighty sparse for a week. As Jeff says, “Fuck you, that’s why”.

If he'd made it to the Supreme Court, Garland apparently would have been another Gorsuch. But Garland and the conscientious members of Congress won't go after Trump now because they've hamstrung themselves out of fear of being accused of "election interference." Kind of like self-castration.

In 1953 Roy Cohn and Senator Joe McCarthy ran a con trick on the American people, accusing military leaders of communist treason because Army officials hurt the feelings of Roy Cohn's boyfriend. Weeks of hearings and wall to wall TV coverage on ABC.

70 years later, Roy's favorite student of fraud scamming, Dumb Donnie, runs con tricks on the gullible MAGAs and journalists. At what point do people pull the wool off their eyes? Trump/GOP/RNC is a money scam. And the Press amplifies the con instead of shutting it down.

Burke's avatar

The journalists in the 1950s fell for the "Red Scare" con game tactics of loud mouth Joe McCarthy and his young gay-bashing gay assistant Roy Cohn. "I have a list of commies in the government!!!" Joe and Roy scared the crap out of Americans with their Bullshit Con Game.

Today, Donnie pushes the "Evil Migrants are Eating Your Pets! Scare." and "Schools are performing sex change surgery on your kids! Scare." and "FEMA will take your house! Scare". And the Press is suckered every day by it. They report on his bullshit like its real!

Dear CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, New York Times, Washington Post, LA Times: The Trump for President Campaign is a Bullshit Con Game for Money! Wake the fuck up and tell the truth to the American people.

Expand full comment

Ya know. It's fucking disappointing that professional journalists are failing to do their jobs in this era. Complicity in promoting a money scam. Against the American people who depend on ethical journalists to do their job. What a disgrace. I really wonder if Donnie would recognize JD if they met on the street? And, of course this was staged. His whole life, from The Apprentice on has been staged - and that could be reshot and edited. The problems occur when he speaks in front of a mic that his people don't control. At this point, he is just the icon for a cabal of nasties who want to get their hands on absolute power. I sure hope they don't succeed.
