The irony is that if that concentration camp was built by undocumented immigrants, it would have been done properly.

I’m now fortunate to live among the great people of Central America and am witness to how hard these folks work; many times, 7 days a week in order to make their money to live. My Spanish is halting at best but they kindly put up with me. We are different but only in ways that don’t really matter in the long run. 47 has flayed the skin from my country by terrorizing the very people who hold the US together. It’s unforgivable and has to be stopped or the US will cease to exist as we’ve known it.

I feel absolutely sick about this. I feel like I'm going to have to spend the rest of my days telling people I meet that I am not MAGA, never have been, never voted for Repugnicans, and yet every thing I tried to do to counter them failed. I hate this mean craven cruelty, this autocratic kakistocracy, the hateful stupidity of it all. I don't want to hate, because it is corrosive to the hater, not just the hated. Yet I despise each and every person who enabled and worked toward the state we are in now. I am unable to forgive or forget.

I’m in Panama in the country with various cows, chickens, horses and various other animals one can find in a rural setting. I’m 5 miles outside the third largest city in the country which is perfect. I’m an economic refugee as my little corner of NC got ridiculously expensive after Covid. My son lives just down the street with his partner and he pretty much takes care of seeing to anything I might need. He’s been down here 5 yrs so knows most of the ins and outs of life here. See, and therein lies the problem. They really do do the work so many Americans don't want to do, and those Americans are pissed off about that. So, here we are. Somehow they think getting rid of all the immigrants is going to suddenly make Americans line up to work like slaves for minimum wages, and that's just not going to happen. What will happen, however, is tons and tons and tons of work will not get done. Period. This is what my mother would call cutting off your own nose to spite your face.

I live in Maryland and when I lived in Ocean City I worked in a hotel and saw the Latino ladies there working in housekeeping. Very nice people and worked long hard shifts without a word of complaint and a smile for everyone. Nearly all the construction work was being done by the Latino men. My current neighborhood here in Baltimore has a large Latino population. These people work, they own businesses. It’s a sin what our government is doing to them.

I think there is a deeper desire under it all...to create a white nationalist state where women are in the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant and white men are once again at the top of the patriarchy. Somehow all these young guys (who hate everybody and everything...but think it's all women's fault and can't get a date because they are misogynistic asses), think this will bring them to the apex of the heap--not realizing the top of the heap is already in place and they will still be on the bottom as the new wage slaves. Wage slavery for undocumented immigrants in 2025 is Slavery 5.1, and in some ways it’s even worse than the original Slavery 1.0 in 1860. In v1.0, a roof and food was provided. The modern 5.1 version leaves it to the wage slave to find a roof and some food, until the slave and family are deemed expendible and feedable to alligators, but first they must spend some time in a leaky tent for the purpose of performative political theater

Agreed, Diane. I've never seen people work as hard as the migrants who tore off our old roof and replaced it last summer. They did it in one day, with three days' notice. All the other estimates were two to three days for the work. They were very friendly, very careful of our yard, and quite appreciative of the snacks and water I put out. No lie---four days later, four tornadoes roared through within a couple miles of us. We got very high winds. Not a single shingle came loose.

Speaker of the House Johnson just proclaimed in his Big Bill victory speech that the framers acknowledged that "our rights are granted, not by the government, but by God himself".

He failed to mention that these rights do not extend to brown skinned people. This very minute there are thousands of masked ICE agents targeting, arresting and capturing brown skinned people because they are brown skinned. Without respecting their human rights. This Big Bill allocates $45 BILLION of our tax money to target, arrest and imprison in concentration camps brown skinned people.

Laura Loomer, senior advisor to the President, prefers that every brown skinned person, citizen or not, to be murdered by the government and fed to alligators. Not a joke.

Curtis Yarvin, admired advisor by Vice President Vance, promotes the extermination of all "non productive" humans. And replace our democratic republic with a new techno monarchy of his design. Not a joke.

It is sad to see the dishonor, the hypocrisy in our government. When 535 elected representatives "of the people, by the people and for the people" have been so corrupted by money and power. They find joy in the suffering of others less fortunate. This cannot stand.

The MAGA’s pro-concentration camp wing is downright gleeful about their nightmarish Alligator Auschwitz schemes, an open embrace of sadism disguised as policy. Their response to outrage? Call everyone a communist, like a broken record from a century ago. It’s projection at its finest: they cheer on government overreach, cheer as the state brutalizes the vulnerable, and accuse others of tyranny. But their labels and name calling doesn’t work anymore. They are CRUELISTS in a political cult obsessed with domination, punishment, and fear. Their ideology isn’t built on principles or values, but on inflicting pain and blaming the powerless. The BBB is to benefit all the billionaires, 85 at last count. So people lose health care, food subsidies, nursing homes closing, rural hospitals closing.. all this and more for just 85 people. In addition, the $$ for ICE eclipse all the money for BOP and creates a Gestapo…people…it’s not going to stop with brown folks… Miller wants to revoke citizenship from Black folks…we are on a slippery slope here.. any marginalized community can be the next target… no one is safe… Happy 4th Fellow Travelers.

I would hope so. She ever tried to get a view of my junk she'd be finding out what a size eight Hoka stuffed in her ass feels like.

She was forced to take a bus ride back to DC, as she couldn’t get a flight. I suspect the bullet proof vest was her way of protecting herself from those who shared the bus ride. Imagine having to take a bus and having to sit among the plebes. Eww - She is so disgusting.

Hitler’s mother was Jewish? Doesn’t that makes sense him Jewish? Now I am totally confused. Please explain his hatred of Jews then.

Not true. Although there's evidence suggesting that he had some Jewish ancestry further back.

Mace is mentally ill and getting worse by the day. New York magazine had a massive article about John Fetterman's mental health not long ago (as they should, it was a good piece). Has anybody seen a similar article about Ms. Mace?

Living in an evil world is foreign for those of us who have lived in the U.S. since the 50’s. All checks and balances have been systematically destroyed by the Republicon Party. Why would they violate their vows and doom our country to fascism? GREED and CULT.

Nothing humorous this morning and for many, many, mornings to come. Shameful. As if any republican could feel shame. All of our tax money is being spent on this nightmare. I despair.

This is true. I keep hoping that when it's proven that millions of people, particularly children, have died due to the ending of USAID and to this stupid bill that those deaths will keep these people up at night and that for the rest of their lives they'll be haunted by the deaths. Then I remember they don't give a shit about anyone but themselves. They strangled their conscience in its crib and then believe they're good, upstanding Christians who love Jesus and are pro-life.

And, Jeff, thanks for correcting Nancy Mace's grammar. That particular mistake is one of my pet peeves. Another one is people who say, "I seen" instead of "I saw". It also still annoys me when people pronounce the "t' in often, but apparently, that's become acceptable. BUT I DON'T LIKE IT!

I understand that Mike Johnson took the hold outs to the center of the House and held another prayer circle, since he specializes in reverse exorcisms: "Please drive out every shred of morality from these good Christians, Lord, and let them be filled with demons, as is thy will." And it always works...

Look, let’s call it what it really is: a death camp. Those shoddily constructed buildings obviously won’t be able to withstand even a moderate tropical storm, much less a hurricane. And the DHS sure as hell isn’t going to evacuate hundreds and hundreds of people in the event of a storm. On top of which, there are only the most basic medical facilities there; if someone develops a contagious disease like Norovirus or bird flu, there is no way for them to be isolated from the rest of the population. The cages they intend to keep people in are small and close together, and disease will spread like wildfire.

If you look at the elements required for an accusation of committing crimes against humanity, the Trump administration had already met at least three. The ICC can persecute those who commit these crimes regardless of whether the country is a member or not. I hope I live long enough to see Trump, Miller, and Noem brought before the ICC.
