even as I finishing this up this post, Epstein survivors were speaking in on the steps of Congress

Stephanie Lajeskie's avatar

This needs to be the top story on every news program tonight. But we’ll probably only see it on MSNBC—so unfortunately, the people who need to hear what these victims had to say never will.

Susanna J. Sturgis's avatar

However, word does spread -- and remember the red-state women who've come out against abortion bans? My strong hunch is that red-state women have been abused in about the same proportion as blue-state women and will have an interest in this that the men in their lives may not share. That said, I'm grateful to Rep. Massie (R-KY) for taking a leading role in this.

Cyndi's avatar

I suspect, given the relative concentration of biblical evangelical communities in red areas over blue, that there are more unreported assaults in red states.

Susanna J. Sturgis's avatar

Very, very likely. If your church says the man's in charge and your neighbors don't offer support, it has to be hard to even imagine getting help. Welcome to Gilead . . .

Teri Gelini's avatar

I totally agree that there are fewer report but most likely more abuse especially in the rural areas.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

Yes, women in Red states came out abortion bans and what came of it? Crickets now. Those same states all went for Trump. I dont expect this to be any different. Abortion mattered in the midterms in 2022, but I dont think it mattered in 2024.

P123Sunny's avatar

Epstein survivor: "Mr President Donald J Trump, I am a registered Republican -- not that that matters, because this is not political. However, I cordially invite you to the Capitol to meet me in person so you can understand this is not a hoax.

Carol C's avatar

Not PBS? Why wouldn’t they? Their funding has already been cut.

James Starr's avatar

Katy Tur will downplay this as hyperbolic on MSNBC, the only ones left with any credibility are Maddow and Lawrence

mary's avatar

In my opinion Nicole Wallace (Dateline Whitehouse- MSNBC) (formerly Press Sec to GWB) is not afraid to speak out and does so regularly.

george campbell's avatar

Can we add Michael Steele ?

Veronica Speedwell's avatar

I'm watching, asshole trump has military flyovers interrupting the press conference.

Hate to say it but this presser is really mismanaged. (I used to be a journalist.) they all should have photos of themselves as children, for starters.

They're giggling and laughing, fanning themselves, squinting into the sun. Someone didn't plan this well AT ALL. What a missed opportunity.

Kim Steeves's avatar

I completely agree on the photos of them as children, so we can see who had the harm done to.

Veronica Speedwell's avatar

The mind reels. Why hold this press conference outdoors where people are clearly distracted and uncomfortable, and where it's subject to flyovers.

Why on earth not have handout photos of the women as children?

And the presser should have rolled out as a staccato one-after-the-other account with nitty gritty details. Instead it opened up like an Academy Awards speech with everyone thanking one another. They stepped on their own news! So frustrating.

Now the asshole trump is talking live on TV and CNN has cut to that.

Susan Sanders's avatar

It wasn't "subject to flyovers". Trump announced it yesterday as a deliberate effort to disrupt the press conference.

Joe Witkowski's avatar

I’m guessing their legal help Bradley Edwards is no longer pro bono so all of that would cost the victims much more

https://www.msnbc.com/the-last-word/watch/lawrence-the-most-perverse-thing-during-blanche-maxwell-interview-was-their-laughter-246507589589

Susan Sanders's avatar

I didn't see them as giggly and laughing..I saw them as being courageous and understandably nervous, as the death threats escalate.

Lorraine Parish's avatar

me too and the flyovers were pathetic and childish.

Lois Henry's avatar

Ah. Must have been a Democrat organizer in charge. Truly not our strength.

Susanna J. Sturgis's avatar

The lead organizers were Reps. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY).

george campbell's avatar

You are correct . Still , their authenticity comes through .

James Starr's avatar

planned as well as his embarrassing military parade... what a disaster that was

Linda Weide's avatar

Veronica, I love your description. It has me in stitches. 😂 ✌🏽

P123Sunny's avatar

A friend of mine watched and did not see giggling…(?) She was moved by the speakers.

Tess's avatar

I’m watching it…😭😭😭

Susan Niemann's avatar

Its heartbreaking. These are some damned brave women.

Tess's avatar

Never thought I’d agree with Marjorie Taylor Greene!

CyndiT's avatar

My world is upside down. She actually sounded coherent

George in Atlanta's avatar

Yeah. There's that. Makes you kind of rethink what you know about how much performance has gone into everything she and the other wingnuts do to entertain the rubes.

Here's what's significant: the rubes don't want her saying that, she essentially just told them to fuck themselves.

Linda Weide's avatar

Ro Khana understands working the bipartisan where he can. More Dems should learn that.

Lorraine Parish's avatar

actually I was impressed.

Joe Witkowski's avatar

Scary but for one infinitely rare instance she is correct

Linda Weide's avatar

She showed some maturity. I am betting that Congress is the most diversity MTG every dealt with in her life, and it is eye opening, even with the MAGA eyes shut through life strategy. That she is standing up for women is surprising but good. There are cracks in the MAGA wall, and the women are taking sides. Where the hell are pretend to be caring Susan Collins, and Lisa Murkowski. That they would let MTG, Lauren Bobert and Nancy Mace lead this is shocking. They clearly don't want to be associated with them, but by doing that, they associate themselves with pedophiles instead.

Sharon C Storm's avatar

Both Collins and Murkowski are Senators, they need two more signatures from the House for the discharge petition.

Linda Weide's avatar

Of course. Still, I would like to be hearing from all Republicans in the Senate as well who are behind releasing the Epstein files. I cannot think of anyone else on the Republican side, but they should be hearing from us.

Here are the Republican women in the House of Representatives. Might be good to appeal to them first.

https://www.nfrw.org/women-house

Lin Talbot-Koehl's avatar

*Or* BIMBOebert! 😱

Sharon C Storm's avatar

There are only two more signatures needed on the discharge petition to pass the bill. Are there two more GOP representatives who have the courage to stand up for what is right? I certainly hope so.

Linda Weide's avatar

We should be writing them en masse.

P123Sunny's avatar

“NO”

I’d be shocked. We’re all conditioned to be disappointed.

Jodi Richard's avatar

Shockingly, Three Toes gave a speech in which I agreed with everything she said and it brought me to tears. 😳

George in Atlanta's avatar

Yeah. A big old slice of WTF being passed around right now. I hope to God this is the first crack to form between MAGA and its women. Maybe some of them have had enough. This is visceral, it's not political. It brought Nancy Mace to tears. Maybe this can't be argued or threatened away. We'll see.

Stephen Schiff's avatar

I went. It was supposed to start at 10:30 but was already under way when I arrived at 10:15. An organizer came up to me 5 minutes later to tell me that my signs were inappropriate. (One shows two Norway rats with the label "Donald & Jeffrey"; the other a photo of Donald and Jizzlane with the label "Punish the Predators") I complied and left. While I completely sympathize with victims of pedophilia and rape, I am fucking fed up with the "centrists" who continue to delude themselves with the thought that MAGA can be reasoned with.

Kathy H's avatar

It's fucked up, we got 3-toez over there thinking what ever she's crying about is important & trans people being terrorized sexually isn't & survivor "advocates" trying to make it marketable. Utter bullshit. The truth is the fucking truth, though, & I thank you for showing up. This is about ALL the fucking injustice, ALL the abuse of power- no damn "brand" or flavor. The truth isn't going away.

Lorraine Parish's avatar

a majority of women have been sexually assaulted, me included

Linda Weide's avatar

I saw 3 of the Substacks I subscribe to were live streaming this press conference. The Ro Khana one, not the Trump non news one.

Douglas Paul Truhlar's avatar

Who’d have ever thought that MTG could ascend to broken-clock status?

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

THERE'S TOO MUCH NEWS. I didn't even get to that Venezuelan boat they blowed up yesterday

Oregon Larry's avatar

As retired Navy, that's pretty frightening too. If we go around the ocean just blowing shit up, who's to tell all those other navies in the world they can't do it to! And oh, who might they blow up? US!

Cheryl Seybert's avatar

How did he know there were drugs on that boat? Did he just ask the magic eight ball until it said yes??🤬🤬

Oregon Larry's avatar

That's my fear. You can't believe anything they say. If we go around the oceans just blowing up other people, they don't just sit around wringing their hands for very long. And for all our vaunted military, the Ukrainians have shown how easy it is to blow up big ships with little drones. Just sayin ...

AuntTeeFa's avatar

It’s just a matter of time before these bumbling idiots get us in a real pickle here within our own borders.

Oregon Larry's avatar

And, as I thought, this appears to be a blatant violation of US and International law. There was no effort to interdict and verify they were actually running drugs, which the US Navy if perfectly capable of doing. As the Fifth Circuit just ruled, we are not at "war" with Venezuela or the drug cartels under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, which makes military action without Congressional approval illegal. The article on Just Security this afternoon makes the case that this my fall under the category of assassination, or more simply, murder. In a nation under the rule of law, everyone in the chain of military command may be liable for prosecution for carrying out an illegal order or prosecution under the War Crimes Act.

Denise Donaldson's avatar

Not sure a country like Venezuela would risk attacking one of our ships. Which is precisely why Cheetolini's handlers would pick on a small opponent. Cowards all.

Denise Donaldson's avatar

And....I was wrong. I read that Venezuelan planes buzzed a U.S. Navy ship, and now Cheetohead is preparing for war. Utter stupidity on both sides, which is apparently turning into a dick measuring contest. But mango man started it.

Clint Opine's avatar

Well (Epstein) of course! (Epstein) The Orangaturd is feeling (Epstein) threatened, so (Epstein) time to flood the zone (Epstein) with Batshit Crazy. I can't (Epstein) imagine why he (Epstein) feels so threatened (Epstein) though.

Linda McCaughey's avatar

Shit has finally gotten real.

Yarnartist's avatar

Did you know Krasnov is giving the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Giuliani? It’s true. Apparently, surviving a car crash makes you eligible. I bet he was drunk.

MzNicky in East Jesus, TN's avatar

I read that the Presidential Medal of Freedom originated with President Kennedy in 1963. So probably, Donny in his insane hatred/jealousy of everything JFK-related, decided to shit all over the medal by debasing its meaning as much as possible.

Yarnartist's avatar

He certainly has done his best to desecrate it! He’s probably pissed he can’t give it to himself. That’s why he calls Norway and asks for a Nobel Peace prize nomination; he figures that should work. How could they refuse? /S

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

Giving one to Rush Limbotomy was bad enough Mz!

Tardigret's avatar

I'm watching the series Dopesick right now. There is a scene, set in like 2002, where Giuliani is shilling for Perdue Pharmaceuticals, the makers and pushers of Oxycontin. I didn't realize that he has ALWAYS been as corrupt as he is now.

Yarnartist's avatar

That was a great series! I’ll have to rewatch it.

Ellyn's avatar

If you want the actual story on overdoses, it’s definitely not on Dopesick. Ask any chronic pain patient, we will be happy to give you facts regarding the subversive push to make Suboxone into the biggest money maker ever. Dopesick- IMHO- is a great propaganda piece that made a lot of people a lot of money.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

Read about his days before 9/11. He was always slimey. Those of us who didn't live in NYC never got the real story about him. We never knew how vile Trump was decades ago either. The first I'd ever heard of him was when Marla and Ivana met on the skills slopes and it became national news. People from NYC that knew about the real estate market always knew he was a POS. Back then there was no internet or social media.

🌷IntheHalloftheMtnKing's avatar

Definitely read more about Giuliani.

arne link's avatar

No doubt. His 'driver' is taking the fall. The description reads like he just flipped a U-turn and got hit. The accident is almost right across from where he supposedly stopped to help a damsel in distress. Gag me.

Yarnartist's avatar

Wow, he stopped to help a damsel in distress? Kind of like Big Ballz when he stopped to help a damsel in distress and two children mugged him? These MAGAts are so heroic, aren’t they?

AuntTeeFa's avatar

Big balls scoring an eight ball and punched out by two teenage girls who he tried to pick up. Prolly

Betsy L's avatar

I thought he was rear-ended.

Charles Austin's avatar

You KNOW he was drunk!

Betsy L's avatar

He probably was, but that's because he probably always is these days. He got rear-ended. He was also being driven by a member of his security team, whatever that means. I thought he couldn't feed himself, let alone hire security. But he probably didn't cause the accident.

Yarnartist's avatar

I just hope Krasnov didn’t quietly assign him security with the taxpayers’ money. I could have sworn he was broke.

arne link's avatar

What? Oh, God, Jeff. I rely on you for all of my news. Don't force me to watch MSM. Please.

Leu2500's avatar

As if you’ll get news there.

Donald Lipkis's avatar

Looking at that first photo of Trump with his unruly hair and orange makeup I can’t believe that Melania would say “You look great my dear. Now go out there, love, and knock it out of the park”. Naw!

Kim Steeves's avatar

Is the First Lady even in residence at the White House?

harkaylun's avatar

She's in New York managing Barron's college experience.

arne link's avatar

His makeup was not quite as orange. Maybe he is getting make-up tips?

Cathy Wray's avatar

Trump looks like he's grown an extra ear!!! Better for the next sn**er!!

Rosemary Orlandi's avatar

Try MSNBC, I guarantee you they will cover it...

Kristy Kanen's avatar

Nicole Wallace, Lawrence O' Donnell

do a great job

arne link's avatar

For some reason I can't get it on my service. I have some kind of WiFi tv. Frustrating.

Susan Niemann's avatar

LOL Indeed...I cant bring myself to watch ANY of it.

DC, Chicago, Venezuela….where will he strike next?

Margaret's avatar

Chris H.--That's how it happened in The Handmaid's Tale. "They" just came in and blew away Congress.

Blowed up real good

Joyce's avatar

Donnie Demento Epsteined the Venezuelan boat because......

EPSTEINEPSTEINEPSTEINEPSTEIN

Rick in CO's avatar

We'll probably never know if any of the reasons for blowing up said boat are factual. Just more performance art to deflect from dump's pedo troubles and to rattle sabers at Venezuela. He's going about this peace prize thing all wrong.

Kathleen Weber's avatar

WRONG, Tiedrich, WRONG! it's blow up, blew up, blown up. Not surprising because my ancestors got here before yours, even my Jewish ancestors got here before yours!

ALSO, when the stupidest president ever shuffles off to what's coming to him, he will be gloriously, not grimly, reaped!

George in Atlanta's avatar

Kathleen. This is highly offensive to my culture and should be retracted.

The proper form is "Done been blowed up". So sayeth the Scots-Irish who settled the Appalachian wilderness before the United States was a thing. You're welcome.

Kathleen Weber's avatar

Velly, velly, sorry! So, so sorry!

Dr J's Sanity Space's avatar

Thank you Spelling and Grammar Police...

Rosemary Orlandi's avatar

I'm confused. did someone ask us to blow up this boat ? WTAF

arne link's avatar

No, just Trump trying to distract from Epstein, Epstein, Epstein.

george campbell's avatar

Many fine people are saying that the boat was transporting a Venezualan Little League baseball team .

Chris Hierholzer's avatar

Trump wanted reality TV. He was bored.

Joyce's avatar

I'm guessing it's a maneuver to create some sort of military crisis because the judge ruled against Donnie Demento and President Miller, saying that there was no basis for claiming wartime powers. Time to start a war, then!

Maria 🇮🇪's avatar

Jeff I don’t know how your head doesn’t explode, with All the shite Ye’ve to write regarding Pedo/Lying/Felon Taco…

Excellent article as usual.

Phillip Holmes's avatar

And the best news of all is…. Joe Biden has been nominated for a Nobel!

The tantrum is going to be EPIC.

Chris Hierholzer's avatar

Is that true or are you trying to give Trump a heart attack?

Phillip Holmes's avatar

People are posting that it’s recent but sadly it looks like something from 2020. Dammit!!

Kristy Kanen's avatar

And Giulianis little brush with death

OhDonna's avatar

It looked like a Sunset Cruise to me. But yeah, let’s blow them out of the water. Do smuggling boats usually have people on them instead of stuffed with drugs?? Wouldn’t that make less room for the important cargo, the drugs??? trump logic, the cruelty is the point.

eliza james's avatar

I have a real fucking problem with the Space Laser Lady opening this press conference. She and every single Republican sycophant sat at the feet of an adjudicated sexual abuser and many times accused sexual predator and now they give a shit about women? FUCK ALL OF THEM.

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

I know, I know, I know

Tess's avatar

She said SHE would read the client list in Congress…..we shall see!

P123Sunny's avatar

( Maybe being passed over for a cabinet post or ambassadorship left a mark…)

P123Sunny's avatar

But hey what do I know I’m just Joe schmo

P123Sunny's avatar

It’s her only move left imo

Lisa K. Obrien's avatar

Pleeeze, Lawd - Ah need to be REDEEMED!

IMO, the three vile MAGA sluts are only there to see how they can spin this away from Shitler.

michellefromchicago's avatar

This will not end well either for Trump or Abbott. JB Pritzker is smarter than both of them put together, and even meaner than Gavin Newsom.

DuduLovesBubu's avatar

Pritzker needs to tell Wheels Abbott that if your boys try any shit in my state I'm calling up my National Guard. Your boys will be going home in body bags.

arne link's avatar

Oh, man. That would bring on the martial law that Hogsbreath so desperately wants. God help us!

George in Atlanta's avatar

Wait, you mean you're not going to suggest complete and utter capitulation, and then go on to wail about how "dangerous" all this is?!?

You cannot be a real Democrat.

Charles Austin's avatar

They should already be mobilized.

insert_something_creative's avatar

Is there any extra advantage in this case that stems from the fact that Pritzker is also a billionaire? Honest question. Maybe use some of his money to fund some kind of anti-propaganda campaign? Hire private security to protect residents from masked and unidentified goons claiming to be feds? I really don't know.

I'm just curious about any and all tools we have at our disposal to fight these authoritarian fuckwits.

Denise Donaldson's avatar

Husband pointed out that while NG troops are at Great Lakes, they're on federal land. As soon as they set foot outside the base, they're invading Illinois. Just scary.

Susan Niemann's avatar

"Donny’s name is on every page of the Epstein Files."

AND THAT is the most important sentence in this excellent column.

I'm listening to the press conference right now. I'm sick. And you will be too.

The felon can go straight to hell.

Kristy Kanen's avatar

If only there were a hell.

Alison Parker's avatar

"had been grimly reaped"

LOLLLLLLLL Jeff you're a fuckin national treasure.

arne link's avatar

Yes, it was sad how we all got our hopes up. He didn't look good though, so maybe there is hope? I would have thought they would prop him behind the desk but he was standing with only the podium to support him. That's not a good sign for us.

Leu2500's avatar

He had more than just the podium to support him. Look again, & see how he’s surrounded by people. I’ve noticed this for awhile - usually when he’s standing, there are people right behind him. I’m certain that he’s been falling, & they are there to catch him if he starts going timber!

arne link's avatar

Wow, good point. I thought they just crowded around him to enjoy the fragrance wafting off his holy body.

Koko in AZ's avatar

Do they pick straws to see who has that thankless job? Can you imagine the stench behind him, too? I'm getting nauseated just writing that!

Deb Martina's avatar

None of this is remotely good…

P123Sunny's avatar

That WAS a good one

Bungalow Baby's avatar

Isn’t he!!! Highlight of my day!

Ann Anderson's avatar

Whoever stage-managed yesterday's shitshow needs a new line of work. The only reason for that little get-together was proof of life and what it showed instead was proof of one foot in the grave. I don't know what drug they gave him so he could stand for a while, but guarantee he's back on his fat ass today. Matter of time, folks. He'll die but the Epstein scandal is forever. Leave it to Nancy Mace to make it all about her.

Leu2500's avatar

The president of Poland visits today.

Greeting, the 2 sit down in front of the fireplace in the Oval Office while Trump makes word-adjacent noises for the cameras, & lunch. So mostly sitting on his fat ass. The noises should be extra ranty because of the Epstein survivors.

https://rollcall.com/factbase/trump/topic/calendar/

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

"The President participates in a Bilateral Lunch with the President of the Republic of Poland." WTF is a "bilateral lunch" -- he chews on both sides of his mouth? Can't imagine how gross lunch with Trump would be.

arne link's avatar

I think it means that lunch consists of two items, or maybe lunch goes either way? Who knows?

Gently, Jack Jones's avatar

It’s kind of like potluck, only everybody eats only what they brought. BYOF.

P123Sunny's avatar

He had a funny look on his face too…? Not smug or gloating - strange… maybe worried about vlads meeting?

Ann Anderson's avatar

I'm thinking it's the Epstein survivors.

Kathy's avatar

It’s the look of dementia.

P123Sunny's avatar

Yeah but wouldn’t the press be all ov-… nevermind

arne link's avatar

Probably just the usual gas, sadly.

George in Atlanta's avatar

I'm good with making it about her if it keeps the train rolling along. Sometimes your allies are enemies and unexpected shit happens.

P123Sunny's avatar

Biden usually appeared alone. He should have had his posse around him more often… imo

🌷IntheHalloftheMtnKing's avatar

It does look good for the cameras but maybe they were actually getting work done.

P123Sunny's avatar

💯 they were doing the work… but in the end, Rs didn’t even bother coming up w/a platform - they went all in on ‘performance’… & angertainment - their ppl see them as ‘fighters’. Unbelievable 😓

Kay-El's avatar

Donny having his sycophantic governors sending troops to blue cities is a hostile act. Filing a discharge petition to release the EPSTEIN files isn’t, but of course if your name is all over them you’d view it as such.

P123Sunny's avatar

Unreal that he had the cohones to campaign ON RELEASING THEM - knowing he’s absolutely in there. Let alone running for public office in the first place. W O W

P123Sunny's avatar

Actually it was likely maga’s idea and the pod bros ran with it (bc the whole Q thing was anti-pedo focused?) he just rode the wave

P123Sunny's avatar

Correct me if I’m wrong

Kay-El's avatar

I don’t think you’re wrong, Donny just counted on his enablers putting the kibosh on the whole “release the files”.

SLS's avatar

Only with respect to the spelling of "cojones"...

P123Sunny's avatar

‘cojones’ 😜

Neal Stiffelman's avatar

Edgar Allen Poe described this moment in several of his stories, but the ones that leap to mind are The Pit And The Pendulum, (the walls closing in and heating up), The Tell-Tale Heart (or bruises), and obviously, The Fall of The House of Usher.

HI2thDoc's avatar

For those stories to be relevant to him, he would have to have a conscience

Kay-El's avatar

Or be able to read. Poe would be over his ability.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Yep. And he has no interest in reading anything in any case

Dave Drell's avatar

And that for sure is something he does not have, nor ever will.

Jean Jacoby's avatar

Absolutely, but unlike the Tell-Tale heart, I believe the person was rescued at the last moment from the pendulum. We can't have that.

Neal Stiffelman's avatar

In my mind, WE are the guy rescued from The Inquisition. Always identify with him.

Jean Jacoby's avatar

Good point. In which case I'm not so sure we will fully escape the blade, as the federal government and rule of law are being systematically dismantled by this abomination.

Neal Stiffelman's avatar

It’s a hauntingly relevant tale. I have never shaken the feeling he evoked as I read it, as a child, so many years ago.

Neal Stiffelman's avatar

I get it. But the mood feels relevant.

About Rocket City …

Space Command is the central nervous system of our nuclear infrastructure. Biden chose to headquarter it in Colorado ibecause all the pertinent Space Force facilities were already there.

It wasn't about politics. It was about military readiness. It didn't make sense to put Space Force headquarters in any state other than Colorado when the only priority should be quick and effective communication in a nuclear crisis and there was already an infrastructure.

But Alabama is a GOP state and there are massive contracts involved.

Leu2500's avatar

Meh. There are already plenty of government contracts managed on the Arsenal: missiles, strategic missiles, helicopters, Nasa. Not to mention they’ve moved a bunch of FBI stuff there.

AL is so red, this move doesn’t get anymore Rs added to the Congressional delegation. But it does give Ds in CO more to run on. Look! Rs took jobs & $ away from CO.

Trump can’t stop cutting off his nose to spite his face.

Jean Jacoby's avatar

We mustn't forget how dumb he is.

Douglas Paul Truhlar's avatar

Hence the appearance of the brain damaged Tuberville.

Officially a dumpster fire.

What strikes me with this latest hilarious post, is that the idiocy, incompetence, and corruption of this appalling administration is so overwhelming it's almost impossible to parody, other than to just report actual events going on. My big fear, at the cusp of economic collapse, is that the bulk of the American public today really is just too dumb, lazy, or comfortably numb to sustain the republic. I did love your reference to the munchkins singing in Wizard of Oz; "...not merely dead but really most sincerely dead." One can only hope.

Dave Drell's avatar

“dumb”—-yes

“lazy”—-yes

“comfortably numb”—-yes

and holders of 400,000,000 guns!

George in Atlanta's avatar

I'd like to hear more about your ideas on this. All those guns in the hands of all those dumb people mean precisely what? That any resistance to our democracy being destroyed is utterly futile and that they can all just enslave us with impunity? That has been their message to us for two decades.

The point you missed was the one being made. "...to sustain the republic" was the operant phrase. I have difficulty believing that the presence of lots of guns is sufficient to sustain a republic. Especially since they are too stupid to know that they even live in one. For the moment.

I find it interesting that the three skankiest women in congress signed a bill to release the Epstein files. Is this some kind of three dimensional chess move where they feel safe to do this? I just don't get it.

Thats a great question. Do they think this will redeem them? Because Bobo and Nance and Marge will always be disgusting.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Yep, they're just that way. Add in not-soon-enough former Sen. Ernst, who used her position on the Armed Services Committee to canoodle with some high ranking military hunkage, thereby giving these ethically devoid officers under the covers influence in gaining funding.

Conservative women are the best at skanky behavior

Conservatives are the biggest freaks, because they're repressed by their religion. Any body else here seen Welcome to Plathville ?

Arne: I wondered about that too--I thought they would've been the last ones to support other women, specifically survivors, but then, who knows what might be in their past?

Great observation. I would want to neither over- or under-read this. The skanks can read tea leaves, and those may be telling them about Trump's slipping power. They may be the first rats off the MAGA ship. Trump's response to the petition and its GOP support was surprisingly hysterical and helpless, I think there are some chess pieces in mid-shuffle right now.

Whatever their moves are, you can bet self interest is the reason

Lisa K. Obrien's avatar

They are chasing some kind of relevance.

George in Atlanta's avatar

Meh. Their personal relevance goose is cooked, but their actions could help to prime the pump.

Lisa K. Obrien's avatar

Yeah. They seem played out. But their righteous indignation needs to be displayed somewhere.

George in Atlanta's avatar

But they're still women, right? Maybe this makes them actually feel something.

Lisa K. Obrien's avatar

I have zero insight into what women such as these have pinballing around in their craniums.

You’re right, Uncle Jeff. Innocent men don’t try to block the release of evidence that will exonerate them. And anyone with an IQ above 73 knows this. But unfortunately, the collective IQ of MAGA is only 36.

Steve Vladek, SCOTUS expert, has a nice legal analysis of using 32 USC section 502… instead of posse comitatus. & how it’s not the slam dunk the regime thinks it is. For ex, Illinois could choose to go straight to SCOTUS.

thanks for the link, seriously, because I am the opposite of a SCOTUS expert and barely know what I'm talking about when I have to write about it

Once we’re out of school, we just need to know where to look things up.

Dr J's Sanity Space's avatar

Jeff and all: In haven't seen any speculation on this, but what is your opinion--I think what is in the files may not necessarily be the orange moron canoodling underage girls, but more of a financial shenanigan? He certainly did not seem bothered when his foray into teenage beauty competition dressing rooms was revealed, but anything to do with $$ is his achilles' heel...

arne link's avatar

Yeah, the maggots think it's sexy when women are abused. No doubt about that. I'm sure the financial and security info is truly damaging. It shows how Trump and Epstein all worked for Russian mobsters. Kompromat. Screwing the babies was just the icing on the cake.

Runfastandwin's avatar

it’s easy these days. If it’s a fascist petition it wins. If not it loses. no need for “experts”.

all you need to know is that the "not so supreme" court is a whoely owned subsidiary of the gap . (exceptions for the 3 same judges).

Another reason why handing the leadership over to TX Gov. Abbott instead of keeping it with Trump could be a problem: the fugitive uteruses act they passed in TX, as well as the warrants out for the arrest of OB/GYN docs in places like NY or CA, as issued by at least two states, like TX and LA. If the TX national guard take a doctor into their custody to return with to TX, that could start a civil war, too, especially if the Illinois national guard attempt to stop it. For more information, I refer readers to the Abortion Every Day substack.

Illinois and California could also choose to send their National Guards to Mississippi in that dumb scenario couldn’t they?

longtimebirdwatcher's avatar

Not if I have anything to say about it. California's NG stays here.

Grace Kennedy's avatar

And then Mississippi can run to SCOTUS. Puts them in a bad spot.

P123Sunny's avatar

Definitely figuring it out as they go… 😪

Oh, yeah. SCOTUS. Really?
