No, the whole point of the electoral college was to compromise and give more weight to the southern slave states. It’s a racist rule that only stays in place because it has given to people who benefit from it the power to veto a switch to democratic elections, which would require a constitutional amendment i.e a constitutional convention and a 2/3 vote. Unfortunately it looks like we’re saddled with this bullshit until we finally elect a real dictator who will do away with elections altogether
