Today I am still at a 12 on the 10 scale of outrage about the woman and her family in TX who are being fucked around by Rs. I know there isn't any humor in this story, but I am rage screaming in my house. It makes me so angry that tears fall. Sorry to bring the mood down, but I can't shake this one today, and I'm betting I'm not the only one.

I’m with you. Between the Kate Cox thing in Texas and, I’ve read, Russian state tv is applauding Republicans for holding up aide to Ukraine. Beside myself this morning.

Shouldn't the fact that Russian state television is applauding Republicans for their actions cause said Republicans to rethink their position?

Needless to say, this is terrible for the woman in Texas and I hate to see it happening. But politically this could be advantageous because it once again shows how these fundamentalist zealots are determined to use the police power of the state to force their ideology on all of us, like the 10-year-old girl who was raped and became pregnant in Ohio but could not get an abortion.

All of this is such a turn back the clock senseless outrage. These asshole zealots want to control women's reproductive rights but once the baby is born, they could give 2 shits about the future of the health and welfare of that child.

I absolutely agree! We can’t shake that in our home either. We are very protected, so far, here in CA, but my outrage for all of the others who aren’t protected grows by the second. Please think about turning that rage into action; organize, make calls, write letters and post cards, talk to family, friends, community members, anyone who will listen! We must vote these fascists out and make sure that their idiotic views don’t gain any more traction! We can do this!!!!

I am wishing that she would leave Texas now, along with all other women who want autonomy over their bodies. And, I wish we would sell Texas back to Mexico with the option to move elsewhere if you want to stay an American. For all those who want Texas to be its own state, they will have more protection from the drug cartels on both sides of the border, if they belong to Mexico than if they are on their own. While I am sure Texans have enough guns to provide for a small army, do they have anything else? I would be moving military bases from Texas too. It is too dangerous.

I heard that on late breaking news last night and I’m surprised I slept at all. This isn’t a free country anymore - neither for women nor those that support them. I am speculating that Ms. Cox's health is so fragile, she can't travel out-of-state. Otherwise, why would you stay in a state where you know the healthcare you need will automatically be denied?

I am positive there would have been arrangements made to spirit her out of that hellhole became her situation became a public spectacle. Her only option was to stay and fight for her life and health. And personal dignity. I am sick for her.

You are definitely NOT the only one. We need to make it clear that the GOP is pro-birth, NOT pro-life. There is no medical miracle that will save this fetus, and forcing this woman to carry it could cost her life as well. The alternative, which of course is to allow this family and their physician to make the best decision for themselves, in the end could create more lives since this couple has stated they want a big family.

I told my 91-year-old VERY Catholic mother this story yesterday, and even she was as outraged as a 91-year-old tends to get. And then, Ms. Cox's story showed up on the Chicago local news, and I said, probably too loudly, "THAT'S HER!" Mom blames everything in Texas on Greg Abbott, who she LOATHES, especially as he human traffics asylum seekers in bus after bus after bus to Chicago. Over the summer, I finally made a breakthrough with mom regarding abortion and how it isn't anyone's business but the woman's, including the Catholic Church OR the government. That Catholicism is VERY hard to break even a little bit!

Janet, if my memory serves me. Paxton had the legislature in Texas pass the law which allows no abortions, no exiting the state to get abortions or healthcare. After the legislature passed the law, the governor signed it, and they gave the order to stop anyone leaving the state and arrest them if they were going to another state fur medical care such as this.

I remember a big stink about this a while back.

Personally, I think when we build the wall to stop immigrants from entering this country on the southern border, we need to extend it across the northern border of Texas, Alabama , and Florida. We need to remove these three states from the Union, let them be in their own, never give them one more cent of federal funding for anything.

I think that’s why it’s so difficult for women to access any reproductive health care in these “red” states. It’s impossible to practice medicine under conditions where the state says you can’t save your patient’s life or make medically appropriate decisions with them. And she’s a mother of 2. Any ethical doc would weigh her life and her living children’s well-being with that of a non-viable fetus.

I have an idea for committing an act of uncivil obedience to express our rage at what is happening to women in dire medical straits in TX.

Here it is: mail a tampon dipped in red dye every month to paxton, abbott and ever misogynist in the TX legislature with the following note: “since you want to control my reproduction, here is my monthly evidence of not being pregnant. “ do not insult or threaten. Just drown them in red dyed tampons. Perfectly legal, and it gets the point across.

Uncivil obedience is using perfectly legal means of showing the letter and intent of bad laws through peaceful legal means. I studied it under Alan Borovoy who brought down racism in Canada with uncivil obedience. Pls repost this idea far and wide. You don’t have to be a woman of reproductive status to do it. And they can’t come back on you for exercising your first amendment right.
