welcome to the Sunday wrap-up, also know as "here's all the shit left over from the previous weeks' posts that I didn't have room for"

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

(fun fact: Sunday's is often the hardest post to write because Saturday is generally a slow news day)

Susan Niemann's avatar

You're doing just fine! Fist Lady? JEEEESUS. 😂😂

Kay-El's avatar

You can’t tell me that wasn’t on purpose.

Jane in NC's avatar

Some anonymous resistance fighter just got his wings!

Linda Weide's avatar

Surprised Kennedy isn't on the Kennedy Center board. He would do a lot more good than he is now, since he clearly sees his job as to do whatever he wants to do and ignore any health problem other than to make a pronouncement from time to time that human beings will sort themselves out if they get ill. Wonder how many MAGA crazies subscribe to that.

Jane in NC's avatar

I wouldn't allow that weirdo anywhere near the Kennedy Center; he's already disgraced his family name enough. While I don't have hard data, I suspect many more red state MAGAs died from COVID than normies. And, at this point, I'm OK with that. Awful, I know, but if people are too stupid or willful to take care of themselves and their families, I say, 'Let's Go, Darwin!'

The only people I worry about are the sensible people who are exposed to the MAGA germ vectors.

Maui Wahine's avatar

He could host Avian Flu parties there (without telling the attendees, wouldnʻt that be fun). Side note, did they ever remodel the KC theaters because when I lived in DC decades ago the theme was red velvet and gold studs, kind of ugly really.

arne link's avatar

I had the same thought.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Just like when that orange turd walked into Air Force One with toilet paper stuck to his shoe.

Dr J's Sanity Space's avatar

I looked up RTL- Hungarian station, Orban will have a fit!!

David Skoglund's avatar

Is she also the “pee” lady too?

Rick Calegari's avatar

A First Lady of many talents for the right price.

Edith Brideau's avatar

Why has she started to dress like a dominatrix from a dystopian movie? Oh. I guess it's obvious now.

Elizabeth Schulz's avatar

She's looked 'odd' of late. Her hairdo distinctly not her usual 'youthful' carefulness and her face during Jimmy Carter's funeral was a sight to behold. 'Something's' up (and it ain't the tiny mushroom). She's close to that age for - how do I put this delicately: 'change of life'? And it might be triggering for the orange turd who's hung up on little girls, not women HE thinks of as 'past their prime'.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Noel Casler said she was an escort who was gifted to orange turd after he saw former Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi's wife and liked how she looked. Someone thought up Melanie and brought her to NY to meet him. She wanted money and escape from her marginal life, he wanted looks. And now the whole world has to suffer

HI2thDoc's avatar

Now we know why she always has that squinty expression 🤛🏽🤛🏽🤛🏽

Walt Svirsky's avatar

Do NOT wanna know what she does with that fist.

Charles Austin's avatar

More appropriate: First Concubine.😂😂

Linda Weide's avatar

Fist lady, Trump's ass!

Douglas Paul Truhlar's avatar

Isn’t that Yaba babba don’t the used to be lawyer? The jokes on me if it isn’t.

Lairbo's avatar

Maybe start a weekend feature, "5 Things Donnie Did Last Week for Which He Should be Fired" or some such title. The hardest part would be editing it down to five.

Linda Weide's avatar

And then 5000 things Ukraine did to counter what Donnie did. Here are real allies coming to the rescue.

https://open.substack.com/pub/underreported/p/ukraine-the-under-reported-war-03?r=f0qfn&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=false

If you want to help don't pay your federal taxes, just your state taxes. There is no one there to collect them anyway. And, if there is, maybe they won't do anything because morale has got to be at an all time low.

Elizabeth Schulz's avatar

How about 'the newest reasons for Impeachment'? Destroying Social Security, bowing down to a fucking WAR criminal (Putin) could be a start?

Sandy K.'s avatar

This is what the DNC should be doing and counter with their policies IMHO.

Elizabeth Schulz's avatar

Sandy: I was very gratified to hear Rachel talk tonight about the HUGE number of lawsuits (did I hear 90?) filed by our Democrats against donny demento, all of which he is LOSING! I didn't realize that until she covered them, having been so deep in the doldrums about the awful firings of qualified people from necessary positions. Then there's the fantastic woman, head of the NRLB (National Relations Labor Board) who REFUSED to be fired and was just reinstated to her job! She is, of course, black- a long time superbly qualified head and deemed by the racist fuckwits as a 'dei hire'. SHE stood up to them and won! THIS is what everyone needs to do. She's shown them the way.

Tess's avatar

Well lucky for you there was a LOT OF SHIT last week!!!!!! And Derrick Van Orden from WI….sucks! well…along with every other name mentioned in your post! GEESH!

SPW's avatar

I don’t know about you but I thank my lucky stars for any slow news day. Why not allow yourself a day off and enjoy what free time may be allowed to you? With this jackanapes running around loose, things could change in a heartbeat.

On a more personal note, my dad and (half)brother graduated from the Naval Academy just ahead of both world wars. In fact, their classes were graduated ahead of time so they could join their respective war efforts early. On their behalf, I’m horrified at his Academy appointments. You keep referring to his raccoon infested brain, I’m going to up that and replace raccoons with wet fecal matter that’s causing all sorts of shorts. This bunch has us by the balls. If this old fart croaks, the lineup to follow is even worse, if that’s even possible. I think we’re completely fucked.

Wendy The Druid 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈🌈's avatar

I agree with this totally. I’ve gotten to where I’m fighting for copy to pub , might as well just summarize my week on Sunday to make sure our readers didn’t miss a post.

Dina's avatar

Ah, Saturdays being slow news days are a thing of the past. The destruction of the country is going at breakneck speed and doesn't take the weekend off.

Anne DePalma's avatar

Not in this administration!

Barbara Morgan's avatar

Sun downing Donny needs to sun down in a life assistance home 😂💙✌🏻🥴

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

I've written about this. the White House -is- an assisted living facility. all of Donny's needs are taken care of for him there. there's even a medical wing. Donny wouldn't last one day if he had to live on his own.

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

From my experience with my poor dad's decline, some persons with Alzheimer's become extremely belligerent, argumentative, and paranoid. They might even hallucinate. So that's highly imminent with President Pampers.

Denise Donaldson's avatar

Oh, I think he's already there, and has been for quite some time.

Walt Svirsky's avatar

Right down to his stoopid ass Diet Coke button.

Susan Niemann's avatar

That Walt serves to him on a silver platter. Unbelievable.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Walt would win the Nobel Prize for Toadies, if there were one

Clint Opine's avatar

I'm surprised he doesn't just add an Adderall button right next to it.

Nightmaher's avatar

I think the adderall is in the Diet Coke.

Zija Pulp's avatar

Not to be a jerk, but I learnt it’s spelled as “stoopit.” Maybe it has to do with where you’re from. I’m a born and bred New Englander. All we had to do was shovel snow, rake leaves, correct other people’s spelling and grammar. Pardon me, Walter.

Connie Hillyer's avatar

Can you imagine Donny Convict living on his own, in a regular house or apartment? Having to go to the grocery store by himself, do his own laundry, sit in a doctor’s office waiting room, go to the DMV? That would be the funniest reality show ever!

By the way, I am drinking a Diet Coke as I write this, and I managed to get it from the refrigerator all by myself. Yay me!

shee-rah's avatar

Inquiring minds want to know.

Ole Anderson's avatar

That would be the aforementioned Walt. His new ‘job’ won’t keep him away from the WH much.

Wendy The Druid 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈🌈's avatar

So it’s not just me that’s seen this , I’ve been telling our readers that he suffers from sundowners worse than my great grandmother

Rick Calegari's avatar

My mom was diagnosed with dementia and even at the end, she was sharper and more coherent than this two-bit demented turd. Now this mindless fuck is saying in private that Ukraine will have to give him more than just minerals to get continued aid and intelligence reports. This is the exact same bribery that got Dump impeached during his last term but between the complacent press and the clueless unpatriotic MAGAs in Congress, they just don't give a shit.

Marlene Lerner-Bigley (CA)'s avatar

Well Rick, that’s because they’re all Nazis now.

Rick Calegari's avatar

I'm afraid that's the case but there was time when Nazi's and the Russians were bitter enemies.

Linda Fulcher's avatar

Thank you for making me laugh. Otherwise I fear I will go mad.

P123Sunny's avatar

aka: “an embarrassment of riches” 😣

Elizabeth Schulz's avatar

I'm ashamed to admit this, but what the hell, we're all friends and compatriots. I literally peed myself while reading this morning's 'had me on the floor laughing my NY ass off' wrap-up. Insisted on reading it aloud to my husband who's lost his sense of humour somewhere along the way, yet even he laughed. Thank you, Jeff - you continue to keep me sane.

A R C's avatar

What you've written, once again, well-deserved excoriation of the Fourth Estate for its complicity and [more often] its total, willful incompetence - in holding trump, and his criminal cabal accountable for each and every disgusting lie they can't stop themselves from telling - is something that you should never stop doing. {Glacial progress in that regard - which you noted by pointing out the fact that the Times finally used language it should have been using from 2015 till tomorrow. Description of the ongoing propaganda, the brazen lies, alongside fabricated alternative facts, is their responsibility - their solemn duty to highlight and throw in the faces of those responsible for them - but something they fail at spectacularly, every day. Couple that with the failure, every day, that our so-called Democratic legislators provide with their own sporadic, milk-toast cries and plaintiff whines that dribble weakly from podiums everywhere. Each so-called progressive lawmaker should press conference daily in a never-ending cavalcade of recitation of the lies for which trumps illegal administration is undeniably responsible - they should literally, publicly, and repeatedly rage with ferocity against these brazen fascists every time they see a camera - but that's not what we get. But that's what patriotic Americans respond to - each and every time it's presented, however infrequently. It's time to wake the fuck up - and realize it's far later than seemingly everyone thinks.

Susan Niemann's avatar

JFC! "Fist Lady"???? I'm now worthless for the rest of the day. 😂😂😂

I read about the Declaration of Independence thing...my heart sank. I thought, he's going to destroy every SINGLE thing. He's really got to go, somehow. Maybe Al Greens Impeachment effort will toss some sand into the moving parts? It's an ongoing nightmare.

Walt Svirsky's avatar

To have the Dems cave so early in the anti-fascism process was truly heartbreaking. Viva Al Green!

Susan Niemann's avatar

I know...I just cant understand WHY the D's aren't more vocal and assertive. Yeah, we're the minority but that doesn't mean we have to lay down. 🙄

Dana Jae Labrecque's avatar

I smell money keeping them quiet save for the handful speaking out daily.

Doc Blase''s avatar

It turns out we elected mostly cowards who talked the talk but have no fire.

Time to get a bunch of new Dems and that, right quickly.

Jeffries, Schiff, Schumer, Fetterman, et. al. Aloha, shalom, AMF.

More AOC, Jasmine Crockett, Al Green.

Elizabeth Schulz's avatar

Adam Schiff ALWAYS speaks out - at least I'VE seen him openly defy the muskrats and donny demento over and over, after that Zelenskyy ambush and the awful sotu. HE isn't remotely afraid of the constant threats against him. He isn't 'very loud', not his style, but he DOES make it abundantly clear exactly what he thinks of their vileness. Hubby has MSNBC on constantly so I catch those who show up on either Nicolle's, Rachel's or Lawrence's shows to vent. I still suspect 'some' others are doing a 'sit back and watch the repukes bring it all crashing down, causing such pain: 'we the people' cannot help but demand democrats come back to fix it'. It's one idea I've heard bandied about more than once. IOW 'it's their shitshow, so let them do their worst. WE will pick up the pieces afterwards and there will be no mistaking who did this'. I don't personally agree, since irreparable damage will be done to: those on Social Security and Veterans (my household falls into those categories), but if I look at the bigger picture - it 'might' be a workable solution for younger people? Democrats don't have the votes in either House, not yet - and so many obstacles are in place to prevent ANY future voting. So, do we: 'Riot' like they would and did? Please suggest alternatives so I can wrap my brain around it all. Marching and protesting peacefully isn't doing much so far.

Carthago Delenda Est's avatar

AMF? Gosh, I haven’t heard that one since I was in school.

An oldie, but goodie.

247kath's avatar

Or they and their families have all been threatened? And if Russia is involved with the strong arming it could be really nasty

Carthago Delenda Est's avatar

If their families have really been threatened, then expose it. If there are emails, post them. If there are voice mails, play them. If there are snail mails, rocks through windows, display them.

This shadowy business of my family has been threatened is just silent speak for the Space Nazi is planning to use his Big Bag O’ Bux to mount a primary challenge against me.

If peoples’ families have really been threatened, then expose those people doing the threatening.

Susan Niemann's avatar

Oh Dana... you're likely right. There isnt a single elected official who has the ethics and integrity to do the right thing. :(

Lynn Horsky's avatar

Bernie is a paragon of ethics and integrity and the Independent movement is growing

Walt Svirsky's avatar

And that is brutally sad.

Charles Austin's avatar

Exactly. I smell AIPAC.

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

Everyone believed that Jeffries was the next Obama, how’s that been playing out?

MzNicky in East Jesus, TN's avatar

By the way — where is Obama these days? Or Bill Clinton? Or even G-Dubya, FFS? Why are we not hearing anything from them? 🧐

Doc Blase''s avatar

Disaster. I heard him speaking a couple months ago (January maybe?) where he added the equivocation that he'd take action IF the Republicans did something illegal.

Jeebus on a skateboard.

Susan Burgess's avatar

They aren’t the democrats. We are! We hired them.

Ole Anderson's avatar

Jeffries is managing to copy Obama’s speech patterns and rhythm. But that sure doesn’t make him anywhere near as smart. I wonder how long Obama can continue to remain silent?

Walt Svirsky's avatar

That means we have to RISE UP!

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

Complicity, for the billionaire class that walk both sides of the aisle Susan… no further explanation is required!!

Susan Burgess's avatar

We’re all waiting for someone else to go first I think. Or maybe because it’s winter. Spring should change things.

My response to the Declaration of Independence being moved was a loud and resounding NO ! Scared the shit out of my cats.

Didn't Trump say he would attend if the programs met his "standards?" In that case, expect the audience to be filled with Republican toadies who know they need to be seen to prove their loyalty.

He has no “standards “.

Whether it's hearing or reading, Dull Donnie's aphasia is getting worse. He's mixed up windmills and windfall profits taxes; transgender for transgenic mice, and now fentanyl for federal. His brain is becoming so pudding-like his aides have had to ban Ron DeSantis from the White House.

Also, I refuse to believe that caption 'Fist Lady' was an accident. Bravo, anonymous hero of the resistance! 👏👏

MzNicky in East Jesus, TN's avatar

He also thought a reporter said “GPS” when asked about “TPS” (Temporary Protected Status) for Ukrainians currently living in the US. He’s losing his hearing as well as whatever is left of his mind.

Trump's ultimate cover will be about six feet of dirt and gravel. If all the people who worked for 50 years already and just want to be left the fuck alone find out that they don't get Social Security anymore, Trump will find his ultimate cover real soon along with President Musk.

The mainstream press is going to fall, along with all the fucking insane Republicans. Were they elected to do all they can to destroy those that elected them? In Trump World that's the ticket.

In my 73+ years, the Republicans always were pulling some shit. Cheating in the elections. Pushing some CIA action in a nation far away. Refusing to pass legislation that improved people's lives or made life safer. Crooks? Yes, and worse.

I hope to be here another 15-20 years and still do what I do now. And be left alone.
