He suggested that they not be too obvious by speaking English.
There are only about 120,000 Americans in Germany, so we are about the same size as the Jewish population here, and there is some overlap. Also, many of us are dual citizens, so a smaller amount who are non-military are just American. It feels horrid to be hated in the country you live in, but that is what immigrants might feel like in the US from certain countries. My husband did not.
I think the real notice would be Europe’s dumping of US bonds and blocking the broligarchs from allowing their tech to corrupt Europe. You’d hear the crash around the world.
But also a lot of the insulin used in the US. It would take a long time to ramp up domestic insulin production to meet the need, and in the meantime, a lot of people would die.

I'm torn on whether to use my door brace or not. It would definitely slow any brownshirts who think they don't need warrants, but it would also prevent EMT access if I should happen to press my emergency alert button. Normally, I only use it when I'm worried about the Housing Maintenance and Inspector folks letting themselves in while I'm slowly working my way to the door, or bathing/getting dressed. Privacy is hard to find in subsidized housing for elderly and disabled, though I'm grateful to have it.
