Months ago, I had the same reaction that Jeff had, so I took a quick look at my Venmo settings to make sure I wasn't sharing everything with everybody. Later I noticed another sneaky setting that enabled you to turn off public viewing of "past" transactions. So setting it to private only works with future transactions. What a horrible user interface, and definitely by design.
I’ve never seen the amount of the transaction posted… just a “Sally paid Susie for pizza and stuff like that. I certainly hope they’re not announcing the amount of each transaction.

We DO use credit cards for dinners out and other transactions...occasionally cash as a tip (if hubby gets stuck trying to figure it out before signing - he gets stressed lately) so IF they begin to refuse that method, fuck 'em, I got a free meal as far as I'm concerned. ;) I KNOW sellers're dying for all of us to switch to Venmo. I HAVE been pleasantly surprised when Chase picked up on some clearly odd purchases/amounts coming in from places we haven't been (California/Florida) at the same time we were doing some local shopping here in NY, so they're definitely watching out for us 'seniors'. Lots of credit for the phone calls/follow-up emails asking us to double check and to contact the Bank using his pw, which he's begun to do fairly frequently. That works and they've refunded anything taken out of our accounts. He's recognized now by the managers so all's good.

Is this our place to vent? I paid UPS $15 to change the delivery address for a package that’s coming in today. I put this change order in *when they said the package wasn’t even in their hands yet* — and yet, the delivery updates still say “We’re processing your address change” and shows the package as being out for delivery to the old address!
Do you know who lives in your old place? IF so, you might want to call them, just in case they imagine they've gotten a freebie. ;) AND if you then get your package properly delivered, you could demand a refund of the $15 because of UPS' fuckup. Your decision of course.
As it turns out, they did deliver it to my current address. Or at least part of it, because it was apparently split into two boxes, and UPS sent one to here and the other to the old address. Which I don’t understand at all. And this isn’t the first package that’s gone there, although the one before this was my mistake. Anyway, I’ll go out there this morning and see if they’re home so I can get my package. If not, I’ll leave a note on the door asking them to drop it off at the apartment complex’s office.

There must be an exact same address but with 'drive' instead of 'court' in a different town out here although our street name is pretty distinctive (we've been here forever), so every so often I get their packages and even mail, some of which looks important. Remove all those old contacts that you no longer communicate with from your phone listing---problem solved. You only get notices from people in your contact list that use Venmo and don't have the privacy setting turned on. You either alert them or delete them from your contact list. Problem solved.
A national charity was soliciting donations outside a grocery store door. It is a charity I believe in, so I tried to hand them a $20 bill. OMG, they recoiled in horror! Oh no, we can't accept CA$H (I guess I can see their reasoning, who knows if the solicitor would turn it in?) Only accepted credit cards, but then they also charged me the 3% card processing fee. 🙄

Back in the olden days when I was real (the 40s and 50s) we used to use a thing called ‘cash’. We could put it in an envelope and put it in a mailbox knowing it would get to where it was sent because the US Post Office was a sacred trust. (NB: Mailboxes used to be painted US army green.)

As someone who lost my wife about 5 days after Claudia's departure, I can relate to the need to share visuals at this point in the grieving process. Family and friends rarely mention her so I have to keep reminding them by posting things to a webpage I've built expressly for keeping the memory alive. Of course, that she was a singer songwriter with lots of material no one had heard yet, and a painter with unseen paintings makes my whole search for new material to post that much easier every day. My heart goes out to Jeff -- keep the photos coming!
If you haven't already done so, I recommend telling friends and family that you welcome mentions of her. So often people think that if they say something, it will upset you, or like, if they don't mention her, your loss will slip your mind. Crazy. She sounds like a treasure. I wish you well, sir.

I dumped Venmo several years ago and only use Zelle for payments. Most banks use it and it instantly shows up in the payee’s account.

As it turns out, they did deliver it to my current address. Or at least part of it, because it was apparently split into two boxes, and UPS sent one to here and the other to the old address. Which I don’t understand at all. And this isn’t the first package that’s gone there, although the one before this was my mistake. Anyway, I’ll go out there this morning and see if they’re home so I can get my package. If not, I’ll leave a note on the door asking them to drop it off at the apartment complex’s office.
Good idea and glad you DO have resources to get your stuff. There must be an exact same address but with 'drive' instead of 'court' in a different town out here although our street name is pretty distinctive (we've been here forever), so every so often I get their packages and even mail, some of which looks important. My local post office is pretty good at handling it, I Hope! I should try to find the person to let them know directly.

Remove all those old contacts that you no longer communicate with from your phone listing---problem solved. You only get notices from people in your contact list that use Venmo and don't have the privacy setting turned on. You either alert them or delete them from your contact list. Problem solved.

Back in the olden days when I was real (the 40s and 50s) we used to use a thing called ‘cash’. We could put it in an envelope and put it in a mailbox knowing it would get to where it was sent because the US Post Office was a sacred trust. (NB: Mailboxes used to be painted US army green.)

As someone who lost my wife about 5 days after Claudia's departure, I can relate to the need to share visuals at this point in the grieving process. Family and friends rarely mention her so I have to keep reminding them by posting things to a webpage I've built expressly for keeping the memory alive. Of course, that she was a singer songwriter with lots of material no one had heard yet, and a painter with unseen paintings makes my whole search for new material to post that much easier every day. My heart goes out to Jeff -- keep the photos coming!
If you haven't already done so, I recommend telling friends and family that you welcome mentions of her. So often people think that if they say something, it will upset you, or like, if they don't mention her, your loss will slip your mind. Crazy. She sounds like a treasure. I wish you well, sir.
I think that's my next step. For now I'm keeping on adding things to the page so that when I re-send them the link (which actually links from an obit at a major funeral home) they'll get the full width and breadth and probably have to take a breather in between sections, lol.

But I'll sum up my advice which is don't take medical advice from actors or anyone without relevant credentials. The University of Google definitely does not count. Oz is an actual doctor, who would be ashamed to be out in public if he had a conscience.
Unfortunately, in this era we have credentialed people who have gone off the deep end and use those degrees and positions to mislead and grift. Oz is at the top of the list.
