Here's a little something from his bio that shouldn't surprise anyone. "Robinson attributed the beginning of his interest in American conservative politics to his reading of a book by Rush Limbaugh, after which he "found out that I was conservative and always had been."" He's a reprehensible shithead. And let's hope he can take some others down with him. Like Virginia Foxx. #VoteThemAllOut

Teri's avatar

Take down all GOP with him.

Anita Smibert's avatar

I was looking at one especially in NC, and that's evil Virginia Foxx.

Linda Weide's avatar

While I agree with you Teri, I was sobered by a Bulwark discussion of him that pointed out the danger in the Republican party combusting.

Thanks. Hit a paywall 1/2 way thru

Discreet Music's avatar

I don't like being teased like that. Otherwise I might have signed up, but hoodwinked? Nope.

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

Thanks Linda, I always appreciate your input! Heather is always a great source of fact, I’ll check out her take on our fractured GOP!

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

Couldn’t read the Bulwark article Linda, I’m not subscribing to a Sykes/Longwell site, with good reason… the point from the abbreviated part I read appeared reasonable. Not all of the GOP faction are fractured beyond repair, agreed! The ethos of ignorance, chaos, division and violence that Trump has wielded aren’t just corybantic dancers though!

Linda Weide's avatar

Sorry Patrick. I did not realize they had a pay wall when I shared the link. However, Heather Cox Richardson is also talking about the problem with the Republican party imploding from perhaps a slightly different angle, but with the same result that it threatens our democracy.

Thank you for this superb article.

I saw a prayer every night that we don't have to deal with Rush anymore and that Bannon is shut up at least for a few more weeks.

Anita Smibert's avatar

I'm reading Hillary Clinton's new book and she also mentions how Steve Bannon radicalized young people online, beginning with gamers. That was totally intentional and began more than 10 years ago. He's despicable. The book 'Devil's Bargain' was where I first read it. I was hoping one of the other inmates wanted to achieve fame. 😉

meryl selig's avatar

Bannon is the definition of despicable…. but also clever. Roger Stone? Ditto. They are dreadful scourges but also understand how to manipulate and communicate.

Kate's avatar

GamerGate should have been a huge wake up call to how social media could be weaponized. It was the dress rehearsal for 2016.

Teri's avatar

I can't believe we have no laws to deplatform these people. Or arrest for hate speech.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

We have never kept up with technology, and of course, left it up to the free market to handle threatening speech. Face Book, when it started, had very strict rules and did enforce them. Twitter less so but eventually got shamed into it.

Then came the onslaught of Russian trolls who were to numerous to hit and it became like whack-a-mole. As long as they paid for ads Facebook would let them spew.

P. J. Schuster's avatar

I guarantee you that if that exact same hate speech & radicalization was coming from an Osama Bin Laden type person, the CIA or FBI would be doing something about it. But because it’s a US citizen trying to destroy the country; well that’s A okay. 🤬

Anita Smibert's avatar

That doesn't mean his fanboys aren't still indoctrinated. Stephen Miller is another one.

Kate's avatar

Ding Dong!! 👏👏

Mindy OkayIloveyoubyebye's avatar

Ain't missing Breitbart either. 💙🤪

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

I love when Wonkette refers to them as "dead Breitbart's home for terminal anger addicts."

Mindy OkayIloveyoubyebye's avatar

The man was a study in hate. In retrospect, however, he was a mere infected pimple compared to the giant butt boils we have now.

Whatever the case, I don't miss that obese, unbathed, disgusting drunk. Bannon reminds me so much of him, right down to the obese, unbathed, disgusting part. 💙

Mindy OkayIloveyoubyebye's avatar

I read that before, and the bathroom does seem to be damaged by cooking drugs. It would have been wonderful if someone made an actual report and followed it up, took it to the DA/AG's office. We live in such a corrupt MAGAt society. 💙

Doc Blase''s avatar

I have a similar one about Dumpty.

steve robertshaw's avatar

Can I submit a prayer request for Rupert Murdoch?

un poco loco's avatar

Just be sure to include his progeny, such as they are...

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Not James, he's on our side. Lachlan, yes, absolutely.

Teri's avatar

I'm 100 percent against book bans. If Rush wrote a book, it's hate speech. Volunteering at my library reshelving books, it's possible some of the worst, most noxious books accidentally fell off the back of the shelf never to be seen again. Not sorry.

Johanna Park's avatar

A lot of “educated” MAGA started with books by Limbaugh and Gingrich, but most will praise Ayn Rand at first. When any of the beliefs espoused by the authors are challenged, the reaction is primarily anger rather than curiosity.

Stephen Miller wrote a book report on a book by Limbaugh in high school, or used a quote. It's becoming clearer.

I walked into an attorney's office and on a bookshelf in the lobby, there was a copy of "See, I Told You So" and one of "The Art Of The Deal".

My visit lasted three seconds.

Repellent, racist, sociopathic - he’s a perfect Republican.

arne link's avatar

If he were white they would nominate him for President. Oh wait...

Deb's avatar

Wouldn't it be great if the MAGA/NAZIs are going to all this trouble to cheat and try to screw up the vote counting in states like Georgia, Pennsylvania and Arizona, when North Carolina and their hand-picked Nazi creepazoid for Governor just might take them down the rat-hole. I have hope that it will be states like NC, and maybe even FL, and somewhere else that might flip so those so-called do or die states won't be so crucial!!!🤞

Ole Anderson's avatar

There are signs that Florida is in play this time. They had a Democratic rally with the golf carts and everything in the MAGA stronghold of Century Village.

Maybe those old geezers finally got around to tuning in on what Fat Boy and Voldemort (sp)Prick Scott have planned for Social Security and Medicare. We might surprise everybody, especially DiSatan who will be out of a job in two more years and looking for something to do and running for Prez obviously is not on the short list. Unless he’s a glutton for punishment. His desperately upward climbing wife may force him into that meat grinder anyway.

Fingers crossed in FLA!

Janine Johnston's avatar

Up, I’m here in Florida and keeping my fingers crossed! I too believe it is in play.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Word is Casey's going to run, as well as pervy FL panhandle man Matt Gaetz.

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

Indeed Derek, fits the execrable…quivering orange jello mold ideal pal and cabinet member perfectly!

Susan Kemp's avatar

Don’t forget, he’s also an anti-Semitic holocaust denier, anti-choice person who has paid for an abortion, and a misogynist who thinks women shouldn’t vote. I’m sure there’s more.

"Ignorant, hateful, and proud of it" can be the official MAGA slogan

Rick Calegari's avatar

It pretty much is plus Trump and Robinson are also two pervs in a pod. Amazing that so many of these GOP demented dipshits share many of the same traits. Would like to the think that Robinson's deserving demise will further help Kamala in NC.

Yep, but I was quoting Jeff

Carol JLH's avatar

"sorry, Republicans, it looks like you’re going to be forced to carry Mark Robinson to term — even if doing so endangers the life of your party."

I tip my hat to your literary brilliance.

Douglas Paul Truhlar's avatar

Now this is funny, no doctors just go the distance no matter the disgrace.

Gina's avatar

That last line was perfection, and it made me truly laugh out loud!

SwitchBug's avatar

Shocked and dismayed Republican voters should be asking themselves how Mark Robinson actually differs from their presidential candidate. Other than skin color, I’d say very little.

Ellen H's avatar

That is the interesting part of this. How is it that Trump is acceptable as their leader, but yet Robinson should drop out? I think they are both disgusting and vile, and totally unfit for any office.

Johanna Park's avatar

All MAGA are expendable if they negatively impact trump.

Megan Ross's avatar

I'm waiting for TRump to say: "I've never heard of the guy. Never met him."

P. J. Schuster's avatar

I think that’s why theee was so very little outrage or calls for him to step down; if they really pushed it due to his total grossness & despicable words & behavior, they’d kind of have to do the same for Von Shitzenpants; & they can’t do that! Vance hasn’t crazies himself up enough yet to be able to garner the devotion of the magat voting base.

Craig Armstrong, PhD's avatar

There are exactly zero ways I can conceive of Trump being seen as a black man. IOW show me your best Photoshops and DALL-Es!

Robinson evidently worked for a living and clearly did not receive a multi million dollar windfall from Daddy.

P. J. Schuster's avatar

There’s also the thing about fraud with Robinson & wife (or an ex-wife) & a daycare center.

Susan Niemann's avatar

It's breathtaking. It really is. This guy is perfect for the Republican party. And the idiots who wanna brush this under the table are equally dumb. It'll be good to win North Carolina. Thanks Mark, you deviate. 🙄

Charles Austin's avatar

It's nice when they commit political suicide.😂😂😂

Susan Niemann's avatar

Ain’t that the truth! A total moron. And a nasty one at that. 🤮

Mike Hammer's avatar

The only intelligent thing that ever came out of Mark Robinson’s mouth was when he was talking to Speaker Michael Johnson and said “I crap bigger than you”.

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

didn't Jack Palance say that to Billy Crystal?

HI2thDoc's avatar

Sooo, in addition to being a kook, he's also unoriginal

Paula Brantner's avatar

And then he turned over and did a few push-ups.

JOE P's avatar

Mark has never heard of or done a push up, maybe a push out since he had to steal that quote.

Kristy Kanen's avatar

Jack Palance was a letch.

Kristy Kanen's avatar

I met him on a movie set, also Jose Ferrer Jr. Creepy dudes

HI2thDoc's avatar

Not that it’s an excuse but they found you attractive

Kristy Kanen's avatar

So what ? That gives them an excuse to be creepy ?

HI2thDoc's avatar

No. There is no excuse. But I assume many men figure they might as well make a pass in the event that it works. I don’t think they look at it from the recipient’s point of view and don’t consider the intrusiveness of unwanted attention

HI2thDoc's avatar

And weren’t nearly all men in Hollywood?

Kristy Kanen's avatar

No, I sat next to George Clooney at a wrap party, he was charming, friendly & down to earth. I've known many kind & decent actors.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Glad to know they exist

meryl selig's avatar

He really said that? The guy is an open sewer

P. J. Schuster's avatar

Poor Matt Gertz, who I actually like. He has to put out that tweet every time Gaetz does something reprehensible (which is most of the time).

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

Hah! Wondered if you’d put his sorry ass in today’s post!

Robert Eckert's avatar

If that was my name I think I'd change it, to like Matt Daemon or something

Karla's avatar

There’s never a bad time for that.

Kay-El's avatar

Lots of articles on this weirdo today. Robinson sure casts a lot of stones in his glass house of kink for someone who is actually everything he says he reviles. Well, the glass has been smashed and I’ll look forward to seeing him get his ass kicked in the election.

Susan Niemann's avatar

How he made it this far blows my mind!

Jim Ryan's avatar

Three reasons: and all of them start with "G" and end with "errymandering"

Robert Eckert's avatar

Uhhh, no. Gerrymandering has zero to do with the outcome of any *statewide* race.

Sharon C Storm's avatar

Tfg made it much farther, and except for skin color, they have a lot in common.

Kay-El's avatar

Lol. Right?! He was awful before but this is the nail in his coffin

Timothy Fifer's avatar

Yep, the black nazi is definitely toast, burned to a crisp. The PRIMARY focus of NC dems now should be to link him with his fellow “perv”, the orange shit stain himself. Maybe we can get a “twofer” on 11/5.

arne link's avatar

What a joyful thought. C'mon North Carolina step up. You are better than this.

Susan Niemann's avatar

"Who you votin' for? I like the guy who watches tranny porn...how 'bout you?"

🤣🤣🤣

Kay-El's avatar

His kink is his kink but the hypocrisy is stunning.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

I suspect the old-school republicans are releasing their kompromat on him, just like they did on Madison Cawthorn.

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

It’s the GOP, they only invest in Democrat conspiracies, never mind their own tosspots!

Carole Price's avatar

🤯Yep! But then look who’s his hero. SMH!

Karla's avatar

Great, as always. That political assassination quote will come in handy the next time some MAGA fucker pulls a fake attempt on Miracle Ear’s life and republicans blame it on the Democrat’s rhetoric.

MzNicky in East Jesus, TN's avatar

“Miracle Ear” 😄

Thanks for the laugh!

Karla's avatar

I wish I knew where I saw it so I could give proper credit because I thought it was perfect.

Karla's avatar

I’ve seen the ads and was impressed that someone thought to use it to describe Trump 😂.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

It was very clever. I wish I had thought of it!

Douglas Paul Truhlar's avatar

That would make him a saint he try it someday.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

I couldn't sleep last night (jet lag) and I read about our special NC guy on CNN and Twitter (I refuse to call it X). Hmm - he's a tad bit colorful to say the least. Jeff - it was mentioned in what I read that Mark and his wife ripped off the Girl Scouts and the scouts had to sue them for about $3,000 to get the cookie money owed them. May be true or not. It just boggles my mind that in the U.S. that anyone as gross and obnoxious as this guy could be running for any public office and people vote for him. Yet, he's the Lt. Gov. of NC. This election cycle gets the all time award for weird. What a week - Trump and luscious Loomer, cokehead son & some wanna-be socialite, RFK Jr. and his virginal affair with the reporter and now Mark. Can't wait to see what the next 6 weeks brings. Who needs reality TV when you have the 2024 election. Actually, we owe huge thanks to Mark in the fact that he may bring down the entire GOP party in NC in the election.

She Said It's avatar

I am old enough to remember when ripping off the Girl Scouts would be enough to scuttle a candidate's ambitions forever. How far we (they) have fallen.

Joe Witkowski's avatar

He could not get a job outside of Republican politics.

Nancy Potter's avatar

Apparently the only standard a Republican candidate has to meet these days is that he hates all the same people you hate.

Teri's avatar

Stealing from Girl Scouts? The most excellent upstanding citizen we would be willing to bow down to would be kicked to the curb, kicked, tomatoes thrown if he/she had done that. Our crisis in DC is batshit crazy, racists, self-sealing rich white people.

Lesley Zimmermann's avatar

Stealing from Girl Scouts is reprehensible but it’s not as though some crook stole from a children’s cancer charity, right?? No, wait …

HI2thDoc's avatar

Checks all the hypocrisy, hateful, and self loathing boxes. Plus admitted he's a perv. The prototypical MAGA candidate!

Kathleen Weber's avatar

Can we construct a 7th grade gym locker room and weld the door shut on these guys? Put Sean Hannity in there with them so they still think they're being covered?

steve robertshaw's avatar

Is there also room for Marjory T Greene and her cheerleader's megaphone? Since it's so junior high it'd be fitting.

Kathleen Weber's avatar

Actually, I'd rather that Cheri Oteri play MTG because it actually would be funny then.

Neal Stiffelman's avatar

Someone wrote (yesterday, after the news dropped) that this guy was of all the endorsed candidates put forward by the lunatic party most like unto the other guy and after careful consideration, it sure rings true. Still too angry to write a coherent sentence, but Jeez Louise.

I really don’t know what else you can call them.

Michel Grover's avatar

Yuk, this story is getting more lurid and sordid by the hour. Could potentially cost trump and the republican party the North Carolina gubernatorial election and perhaps even the ppresidential election.
