Eh. I mean I liked it here as a kid, before Reaganomics shot everything to shit. After that any time I wondered why I still lived here, it was "'Cause I was born here and can't afford to leave."

The way this country treats its workers after unions got stamped on a dozen times? Doesn't appeal to me. The way it shits on educators? Nah, man. The way it makes things worse and worse for women?

This is just where I was born, man. I'm not loyal to the dirt, I'm loyal to ideals. And the ideals this country is chasing? Guns everywhere, predatory pricing on everything, dog-eat-dog step on whoever you have to to get ahead and damn the consequences?

Not my bag, yo. I'm not being chased out, I'm being made to feel unwelcome and slamming that door behind me.

Hey, it's a free country. Not ever citizen gets to be so chooses.

I was in South America in the mid 70s. I watched college students from Chile, exiled to Ecuador and waiting for the newly married husband to come back with a visa. More of a humanitarian type marriage if you understand the history of the times. Lots of graves of college students
