sorry, I'm not on Team It Was Staged.

feel free to try to convince me it was

Stephanie Lajeskie's avatar

Whether this was staged or not, the fact that it was the first thought people had, tells us how little credibility this administration has.

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

ABSOLUTELY, ONE HUNDRED PERCENT

Kim Nesvig's avatar

Trump has made a career of assuming that he will get the benefit of the doubt with every stunt and every lie.

After all these years you’d think the burden of proof should be placed on him.

Lynn Van Haren's avatar

It may not have been staged, but it shows the complete incompetence of Donny, his Secret Service ( really, 3 attempts?), the FBI & anyone else responsible for security in that hotel

zuzu's avatar

April Ryan was saying this morning that everything was off about the security. She was able to move from floor to floor without using her room key, which she's never been able to do in previous years, even the ones Trump didn't attend. Much less ID checking.

Jean Jacoby's avatar

I didn't immediately think it was staged, but after reading the bizarre nothing accounts by the major media I became more and more suspicious. But then that subsided and I realized I didn't care. If Trump was still stumbling around with both his ears, then nah. Did the would-be shooter talk about precious bodily fluids? Just wondering.

Mrs Moore's avatar

The main feeling I had was, “ it’s interesting how little I care about this event, whether it was staged or not.”

Jerrold Marsh's avatar

My first thought was that it might have been staged. The fact this was my first thought shows just how pathetic the current administration is.

john augustine's avatar

especially since the clown vowed never to attend this dog and pony show but shows up when there is a shooter

Lady Emsworth's avatar

Yeah, but - that works in reverse as well. . .

john augustine's avatar

I smell a rat not only for this latest hoax but the Butler fiasco was definitely a setup with the WWE asshat standing next to him and probably gave him the blood capsule when they yelled action

Miselle's avatar

And it was widely reported it was going to a dramatic mic drop.

Bonnie Council's avatar

Exactly. I'm in the 'it was staged' camp, which is never my go-to, but something smells incredibly fishy about this one. Incredibly fishy.

KP Johnson Austin, TX's avatar

My first thought was, "AGAIN, it's a 'liberal' who can't aim."

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

I know. I can't believe I am thinking this. I've been arguing against conspiracy theories since Lee Harvey Oswald. And I find myself thinking there was SOMETHING staged about this, even if it was just post-event stories about something that was actually meaningless, like a hotel guest's gun going off accidentally. (It's possible in this "guns for everyone everywhere" country.)

Tonya Browning's avatar

How did he even get a gun in there if they had metal detectors & the heightened security they claim they had? I’m not into conspiracy theories at all, but things about these attempts, 3 now, just aren’t adding up.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

The fact that Todd Blanche, a total Trump toadie, is making premature pronouncements is highly suspicious.

Kristy Kanen's avatar

KKKAROLYING too, she's always full of shit.

arne link's avatar

She said there would be shots fired. It was a staged event to give the rubes a thrill and something to tell their readers.

john augustine's avatar

we will never know since the fox is watching the investigative hen house

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

And there stands Kash Patel, head of the FBI, looking like he fell out of someone's ass. No clue and worse than useless.

barb's avatar
3hEdited

Given all of their past shenanigans, especially his miraculous ear regrowth, i can't help but think this was staged too. A # of motivations that come to mind include the promotion of his wasteful, hideous new ballroom , a distraction from his low declining poll numbers and all of his other fuck ups, an excuse not get roasted at the dinner, etc. etc. We have sociopaths running the country, why wouldn't we put this past them.

Jill Palethorpe's avatar

Wait. So he uses his Reichstag moment to get his ballroom?

KMD's avatar

sociopaths and morons.

David Skoglund's avatar

How does this guy get a room in the place?

Tonya Browning's avatar

On a teacher’s salary none the less!

Kristy Kanen's avatar

He was a mechanical engineer, might have savied up.

Barbara Rengstorff's avatar

Put it on his credit card.

CA Productions/Carol Ann's avatar

If your talking about the shooter....he arrived a few days before and checked in like any other guests....he came by train where there are no checks for guns.

SethTriggs's avatar

When he's protected by Murc's Law and the deference to the unreconstructed, he can paradoxically benefit from incompetence.

zuzu's avatar

April Ryan, who's been to a ton of these, said this morning that the security was unusually lax.

KMD's avatar

Not just " a gun. I read that the guy had several guns and a knife! Did they not have a screening machine set up near the hotel entrance.?

Gee, maybe the mentalist they hired as an entertainer could have predicted the whole thing!

Lady Emsworth's avatar

When you have a leader who openly lies about everything, including things that don't need to be lied about, or are easily proven as lies - you start developing your own "truths"

Sue Munda's avatar

I think they’re (his puppet masters) might be getting ready to bump the moron off. He’s too far down the dementia road

john augustine's avatar

the CIA are experts at these as evidenced by the JFK killings which in my opinion were done by our own government

CA Productions/Carol Ann's avatar

Most woman today carry lady pistols in their designer evening bags.

Kristy Kanen's avatar

Oh please. That's ridiculous

CA Productions/Carol Ann's avatar

Sorry its true maybe you out much. I have never held a gun, but I have seen them in lots of colors and designs.

Jane in NC's avatar

The fact that that was the FIRST thing most normal people thought shows that NOBODY would it past this WH to pull a stunt a like that.

Richard's avatar

I agree with you 100%!

SethTriggs's avatar

Yep. Everything is a show for this mad carnival barker. And he's fully protected by Murc's Law.

Abby From Maine's avatar

It suggests that when political outcomes are unfavorable, the blame is directed entirely at Democrats for failing to stop it, rather than at Republicans for initiating it.

Lucius's avatar
4hEdited

Yup. Our entire political landscape is predicated on the idea that everyone else is responsible for Republicans' actions.

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

This was the clever premise pushed by William F. Buckley as a pioneer of the neocon movement in the '60's. Republicans, the GOP of personal responsibility, loved it.

Michelle Vancura's avatar

That first attempt before the election was definitely staged. The saying “fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me” seems fitting. A lot of people are skeptical about this second attempt. Maybe the third time will be the charm. The Benny Hill theme song playing to the Keystone cops video was great!!

barb's avatar

There was also a failed attempt at one of his golf courses in Fla. prior to the election.

Michelle Vancura's avatar

Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. I guess it didn’t make an impression because the guy never got a shot off.

Kristy Kanen's avatar

That guy actually is NUTZO.

CA Productions/Carol Ann's avatar

This was the third time. The other was outside hidden in the bushes outside his golf course. The guy is in jail now

Jerri Berman-Nielsen's avatar

I think that he received a life sentence without parole for that. Plus an extra 5 years for the gun charge

Cathy Wray's avatar

Stephanie, I agree with you.

Linda Weide's avatar

This video was posted in Der Spiegel in an article my friend posted today. It also tells us how little credibility this administration has with Iran and I would say with Germany too.

https://youtu.be/5G9DNx7xIIc?si=KqP_gWELdp8966qb

Lucius's avatar

The Russians offered to stage an assassination attempt on orban, why not with trump? It's not like the idiots in the white house would refuse their help. Besides, they already did it once at Butler and it won them the election.

P123Sunny's avatar

Also was that full investigation quietly closed… (so hard to keep the bingo card straight)

john augustine's avatar

was never investigated

Dave Drell's avatar

But if Drumpf wasn’t injured or slain, what would be the point of a staged attempt? Sympathy? only MAGAs would beg for that.

Lucius's avatar

Laying groundwork for cancelling the midterms. And they already pulled this card once in Butler, and it worked like a goddamn charm. Now the press is even more pro trump than it already was.

Lynn Van Haren's avatar

Higher poll ratings

Karen Leeds's avatar

Because if the Russians did it he would be dead.

Lucius's avatar

Why would they kill their most valuable asset?

DebJS's avatar

Plus he is so damn proud of that "Fight Fight Fight" photo he had it blown up and framed, on a wall in the White House and shows it off to visitors.

Lucius's avatar

If his babysitters told him about it ahead of time like they probably did at Butler he might have blurted it out on truth social.

Permian Extinction's avatar

Why is everyone incompetent, including the assassins?

Robert Eckert's avatar

Yeah, the universe actually had two jobs: it could let Jeff sleep, or it could rid us at last of the Dumb Antichrist. It failed to accomplish either.

Cheri Collins's avatar

Cuz this is ‘Murika, where schoolin’ is stoopid, as is analytic thinking.

Lucius's avatar

Because they aren't picked for their competence.

Kay-El's avatar

My thought too.

Douglas Paul Truhlar's avatar

Faster than a speeding bullet!

Van Jones on CNN right now:

“Bullets are physical things…and they move past you faster than you can react.” So say you Van Jones.

Remember when Obama caught a fly that was trying to get closer to a real prez? He caught it, one try now that was some live action!

arne link's avatar

Look, it's hard to get a decent assassin these days. No one ever said it would be easy. It's as least as hard as negotiating with Iran.

Kristy Kanen's avatar

Security got lucky, they're incompetent.

Kristy Kanen's avatar

It's the EDUCATION SYSTEM FAILURE

Douglas Paul Truhlar's avatar

Who heads that department now, oh yeah that’s ez Todd Blanche he is everywhere!

CC's avatar

I don’t know that it was actually staged, but KL’s comments 2 hours earlier are quite the coincidence https://youtu.be/tw9R4E--I2c?si=GZLqErfU4TV5ajmt

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

my take is she was speaking metaphorically about the speech Donny would have given. does anyone think Karoline would actually have spilled the beans like that, if she knew in advance about a shooting?

Jayme Wolworth's avatar

It may not have been staged but it certainly gave the MAGA morons their opportunity to shit post 5 million times "this is why we need a ballroom ffs". They got their marching orders and boy did they march.

HI2thDoc's avatar

I so wish they would take a long march off a short pier

Kristy Kanen's avatar

trump should be KEEL HAULED.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

There's a major flaw in this. The Washington Hilton Ballroom is about 5-10 times the size of the one Trump is proposing, depending on what figures you use for each. So is he proposing to expand its capacity by 10 times? That would be a space-swallowing monster.

Stephen Brady's avatar

Oh, he'll just bulldoze the rest of the WH and the Eisenhower Office Building. Then he'll build a tRump tower to replace it.

Lisa Bieber's avatar

He likes monsters

Diane Findley's avatar

I wonder how many of those 5 million were just bots and not real people. This is what they do.....god, how I hate them!

Miselle's avatar

As I asked above, how would a ballroom prevent this?

Kristy Kanen's avatar

It's the bunker underneath that he wants, the ballroom with stairs to nowhere is just a " disguise".

HI2thDoc's avatar

When she said ready to rumble, I thought she meant his diaper

Fastball Fredo's avatar

OK Doc, I’m quietly drinking my coffee, trying to read and then…. And then after reading your quip…well… clean up on aisle 1… now I’ve got to brew another pot of coffee…🤪🤪🤪⚠️⚠️⚠️

HI2thDoc's avatar

Sanity requires mirth, which sometimes when unexpected is the best

rlritt's avatar

True, but the fact that everyone thinks its possible it was staged, says a lot in and of itself.

Lucius's avatar

Given that incompetence is a requirement to work for this regime, yes.

Dana Jae Labrecque's avatar

Yes. Dumb asses gonna dumb ass.

Joyce's avatar

Yes, because she's a moron.

arne link's avatar

She also said she doesn't work for Trump but is only a government employee, this as she waddled out the door for maternity leave.

john augustine's avatar

yes I think she is that dumb

Richard Von Busack's avatar

Exactly, that makes no sense. Of course, she is about to bring a new little Republican voter into the world, and if the sitcoms are right, being pregnant makes you a scatterbrain who wants to gorge on pickles and ice cream.

HI2thDoc's avatar

She can use the pregnancy as an excuse for the strange food cravings, but she was a racist POS before, so no excuse for that

Kristy Kanen's avatar

Lunchmeat & soft cheese ! 🤣

Kristy Kanen's avatar

Oz Pearlman correctly came up with the name of her baby, VIVIAN. He's pretty amazing, I don't know how he does it.

Tonya Browning's avatar

But did you hear about what her husband said right before it all went down? Some lady was telling Fox “entertainment” what he said, & she was cut off. I’d love to know what else she was going to reveal!!

arne link's avatar

I read that he said "be careful".

Leu2500's avatar

you seem unfamiliar with the regime's lack of OPSEC.

Kay-El's avatar

I agree but only because she was trying to hype up we all know that speech would be a snooze-fest.

Marlee Ostrow's avatar

But then there’s this: Fox News Correspondent sitting next to Leavitt’s husband was warned to “be very careful tonight”and then was cut off as she described what he said:

https://substack.com/@ifloz/note/c-249429285?r=cbub3&utm_medium=ios&utm_source=notes-share-action

Kay-El's avatar

I agree but only because she was trying to hype up we all know that speech would be a snooze-fest.

Rhesus's avatar

Her phrasing is indeed spooky and she's just dumb enough.....

Daniel M Kimmel's avatar

Presumably. But which side is the party of violent rhetoric that stokes things like this? The MAGAts couldn't wait to blame Democrats and the media for the hate and divisiveness that their low IQ leader perpetrates.

Charles Austin's avatar

" Coincidence takes a lot of planning"

Malcolm Nance

john augustine's avatar

if it was staged, it shows the contempt the orange asshat and his sycophants have for the american people to think they are easily fooled

Carmie Callobre's avatar

Holy shit, she actually said "there will be shots fired" good god this make me ill

arne link's avatar

She knew that would be the "entertainment" for the evening.

J Hardy Carroll's avatar

Incompetence and conspiracy look almost identical. Take your pick. So many lies we'll never parse the truth. Miller hiding behind his wife should be on the cover of Time

Cheri Collins's avatar

Yes. The look on his face, though. Not fear, but sort of triumphant at a plan that worked? 💁🏻

Kristy Kanen's avatar

The boob you save, might be your wifes.

Greg Sandman's avatar

Like most folks here, my immediate thought was, “another staged assassination attempt. At least no innocent had to die.” My wife’s first words…”watch him plug his ballroom over this.” She nailed it! I think the fact he had a prepared speech to amplify the need for the Epstein ballroom 30 minutes after the “shooting” adds credence to a staged event. Just my humble, uneducated opinion of course.

DebJS's avatar
1hEdited

Also, there was an early report that was widely amplified by the press that the shooter was killed... before they corrected it and said he wasn't even shot and shared a photo of him ziptied lying face down on the floor (shirtless).

Marian Vitale's avatar

The Reuters photo of Hegseth grinning like a hyena after the press conference was pretty suss.

Cheri Collins's avatar

I’ll have to look that one up. I’m definately on team fake.

Cheri Collins's avatar

Thank you, Marian! Oh yes, a very normal reaction to an event like this . . .

Kristy Kanen's avatar

He NEVER reacts normally to ANYTHING.

J Hardy Carroll's avatar

Stephen Miller's wife couldn't use him as a human shield because he:

1. Doesn't meet the essential qualification of being a human

2. Isn't tall enough for the ride

3.Somehow is always behind her

4.Isn't large enough to be a target of opportunity.

HI2thDoc's avatar

No one in their right mind would think either of them is worth the cost of a bullet

HI2thDoc's avatar

Chris Rock did a great routine where he said in order to reduce the amount of gun violence, each bullet should cost $10,000. Then you would hear things like, I wanna bust a cap in your ass but you ain't worth it. 😂

P123Sunny's avatar

He did hawk his ballroom after without barely mentioning the shooting attempt

- @serrata.org

Carol C's avatar

Answering a reporter’s question about why target him, Trump came up with a rather coherent reply that only or mostly it is Impactful people who are targeted. I wonder if that word came spontaneously from his pharmaceutically assisted brain. Or was that little speech prepared for him once back at the White House?

Of course, he added his own little touch by referring to himself as Impactful.

Kristy Kanen's avatar

His bowels are definitely NOT IMPACTED.

DebJS's avatar

Always gotta compare himself to President Lincoln. There is only one way that could be true . . .

P123Sunny's avatar

I dunno jeff just the fact that it got him outta sitting there for 3 hrs…

Dave Drell's avatar

..in front of the so-called “press” whom he hates, even though they bend the knee to kiss his flabby ass.

Eva's avatar

I’m on team “ secret service fucked up”

HI2thDoc's avatar

I was waiting for them to stand him up in plain view for the obligatory fist pump

Joyce's avatar

They let him trip and fall, which was actually better.

arne link's avatar

Maybe one of them tripped him. That thought gives me great comfort and I'm going to hold onto it all day long.

Joyce's avatar

Practice for Air Force One.......

Mingo's avatar

" I get the best ratings. Ratings like nobody has ever seen." Says the president who lives in his never ending reality show.

HI2thDoc's avatar

He's a legend in his own mind. The dichotomy of someone so delusionally egotistical and yet so immature and thinned skinned is a difficult paradox to assimilate.

Dave Drell's avatar

Doc pulling out all of the big words- excellent post

Wasn’t Legend in his own mind, Timothy Leary? or was that a Moody Blues song I’m mixing up?

HI2thDoc's avatar

The Moody's song about Leary was called Legend of a Mind

Kristy Kanen's avatar

Exactly why I don't think it was staged.

Joyce's avatar
5hEdited

If it was not a completely staged-for-TV event, then the secret service is remarkably incompetent.

Leu2500's avatar

they haven't been the crack team they used to be for some time. Wasn't Jill Biden upset with them over not protecting Biden like they should at some event?

And as far as I know, the USSS is still under the Treasury Department, which means Scott Bessent. That boot licker (do I have the right bootlicker?) would go along with such a plan.

We know that Kash Patel & the FBI would.

DebJS's avatar

Was that the time Joe tripped over some small but heavy object that was on the stage near the podium when he turned and started to walk away?

Robert Eckert's avatar

It was transfered from Treasury to Homeland Security long ago

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

So this was on Markwayne's beat? Hilarious.

Joe Witkowski's avatar

Did the Space Nazi’s pimpled inept incel DOGEBAGS decimate the Secret Service too?

Lucius's avatar

Por que no los dos?

zuzu's avatar

Vance's team was ON IT. They hustled him right the fuck out of there. OTOH, he's been out of the loop lately, so if there were any plans, nobody would have told him/them.

I'm also highly suspicious of the fact that you can see Trump just hanging around in the wings in the photo of Nosferatu et Ux. Why wouldn't they get him to safety?

We either have something really fishy going on or the Secret Service is letting Trump run their show, which is a terrible idea. If they say move, he moves. They don't let his tantrums and threats override their assessments of dangers. You do what Vance's team did.

Jon Notabot's avatar

I'm not on Team Anything, but it does seem like these things happen during times of significance to the Liar's political survivability. Then again, every day is of significance to the Liar's political survivability. Who knows. Who even cares at this point.

CAM from 🇨🇦's avatar

Sorry Jeff, but I think it was another staged assassination to boost his sagging popularity numbers. The number of people who are reporting on lax security at the event increases my level of confidence in the legitimacy of the incidence.

Leu2500's avatar

I am curious to know how the security this time compares to previous presidents appearances. You can throw in the National Prayer Breakfast & Al Smith dinner for other examples too.

Joe Witkowski's avatar

He was protected at Al Smith dinner by Dolan sitting in his lap

Kim Nesvig's avatar

The security in place to protect the alleged President was unable to stop someone from dashing past them? I’ve seen more effective security at the county courthouse on a tuesday afternoon.

Joe Witkowski's avatar

They were all busy scratching their balls in the ballroom

Kristy Kanen's avatar

I agree. It wasn't staged. For one reason, decrepit trump almost fell on his face as they were " rushing " him off.

No fist raised , NO B.S. photo op

of his " bravery ". The attacker is not a

" lunatic" , but a highly educated, extremely intelligent guy.

Lucius's avatar

He might not have been told about it ahead of time. He's liable to blurting out anything and everything on truth social after all. Telling him about the plan would have been a great way for him to leak it.

Eileen's avatar

When the whole thing was happening, Trump was smirking and totally relaxed. Looking to his wife freaking out.

More research is being done on the so-called shooter and he was wearing an Israeli defense (IDF) sweatshirt

Kristy Kanen's avatar

OBLIVIOUS IN HIS DEMENTIA

arne link's avatar

Maybe, or maybe just in on the joke?

arne link's avatar

Sorry, I have to disagree. Trump fell or was pushed and forgot his lines. He was famous for forgetting his lines on his television show.

Kristy Kanen's avatar

He fell. He didn't have “ lines “ .

arne link's avatar

His lines were to stand up, shake his fist and yell "America's Ballroom", or "fight, fight, fight".

HI2thDoc's avatar

An intelligent guy but apparently not an ammosexual, lucky for fat fuck

T L Mills's avatar

So was the Unabomber...being an extremely intelligent person in this country during these times, could easily drive someone over the edge.

john augustine's avatar

take a look at photos or videos of Patel sitting calmly at table while mayhem began and kegstand pete laughing about it....how in hell can secret service, fbi and rest of the security allow a person in with a weapon....I don't buy it

Kristy Kanen's avatar

Some guests didn't hear the shots trump thought a server dropped a tray.

Mike Hammer's avatar

Whether it was staged or not the damage there had already been done as they got the public relations boost they wanted. Looks like his security detail had a hard time lifting Dumpty from the floor. How does he get so fucking lucky with these assassination attempts.

HI2thDoc's avatar

So far the perpetrators have been amateurish, apparently choosing underpowered firearms and suboptimal tactics. Kirk's assassin was way more competent.

arne link's avatar

Well, he wasn't available, so they found someone who would work cheap. Hey, whatever happened to Kirk's assassin anyway. We never heard another thing about him. Why?

Robert Eckert's avatar

Because trial preparations are going slowly and badly for the prosecution as the court mulls defense motions for exclusion of some dubiously obtained evidence.

Susie's avatar

Well, the government only hires the best shooters. This is the only “conspiracy theory” I have ever agreed with, truly. There is NO way that kid in custody in Utah shot Charlie Kirk with the precision and skill of a military trained sniper. Just sayin…………

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

We don't even know if they actually got into the ballroom.

Lynn Van Haren's avatar

He didn’t. He was in the lobby

Fran's avatar

Maybe. I think this is actually going to demonstrate how cynical we’ve all become.

Mike Hammer's avatar

We just want him to die already, not become a martyr. If someone hated Trump so much why didn’t he just let him die instead of running head first into the most secure venue in the world with a gun?

myhoopbabies's avatar

That's what makes it really hard to believe. Everyone in the room had gone through copious security checks but this guy was able to get all the way to the door with a gun? Even if he was staying at the hotel, that doesn't sound plausible. I'm not a conspiracy person either, but I read a question from someone this morning: In that picture of Miller and his wife, why does it look like Trump is standing in the wings watching the whole thing? Making sure everyone plays their part?

Mike Hammer's avatar

Agree, and if, as they say he had a shotgun and an officer took fire into his chest armor then why was he not dead with all that firepower. Does not pass the smell test for at least 50% of Americans but we need to wait and see how the narrative plays out.

And at the helm is Fox drenching “their base” with red meat and endless lies, gaslighting, just off the wall conspiracy theories, the fix is in.

myhoopbabies's avatar

Right, since when does a black man "open fire" and actually hit a secret service agent and not end up full of bullets (which was the initial report, that he had been killed). Like others have said, the fact that so many of us immediately called bullshit on the whole thing says it all.

rlritt's avatar
4hEdited

According to several attendees, security was almost nonexistent.

arne link's avatar

It was another fake assassination attempt, staged as entertainment.

rlritt's avatar

I'm wondering if its purpose was to get more support for his trashy ballroom.

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

Plus distract from the Iran war, distract from the Epstein files, boost his plummeting popularity. Where's that brilliant mentalist they had planned as the evening's entertainment?

Kathleen Weber's avatar

The gunman didn't get into the same room with Donnie. A second-grade teacher has wrecked his life for nothing. Unfortunately, he's a black man.

Carol C's avatar

A second grade teacher spent quite a few bucks booking a room at that hotel, after flying from California. School is still in session, by the way. I wonder when he booked the room and his flight.

As with the Las Vegas shooter, it is curious how he could get those weapons from his room down the elevator without being noticed.

Frank's avatar
4hEdited

Reports this morning are saying the “gunman” traveled cross-country by train with a stop in Chicago.

Carol C's avatar
3hEdited

Thanks for the update, Frank.

Guardian now reports that Cole Allen is a game developer, definitely not a second grade teacher. Rumors everywhere.

Lynn Van Haren's avatar

A reporter attending the WHCD said no one was checked for weapons or ID. Just flashed their tickets

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

I'm not seeing any public relations boost here. Frankly, people are way too concerned with things that actually impact their lives to care about shit going on at a fancy Washington D.C. dinner.

rlritt's avatar

I think someone might have planned it, but we're past the point where we are shocked or even really care at all.

Trux Mint In Box's avatar

Right? Still got to buy gas and groceries this week. He wasn’t actually injured. This isn’t much different than when they stop some lunatic running onto the WH lawn.

Richard's avatar

The whole thing from start to finish is nauseating. It should be horrifying but it’s nauseating. The whole concept of the correspondent dinner where the incompetent reporters gather to do what? Celebrate their tremendous contribution to bringing orange turd to the presidency since before 2016 (eg but her emails right up to Jeff’s wondering why no one asks wtf 🤬 is the matter with you)? Then this year having turd there as a guest is like the Association of Rabbis having adolf hitler speak while various news organizations have oligarchs as guests absolutely flaunting the takeover of MSM by fascists. Then quotes and scenes of orange falling over and blabbing - my god. But the highlight was Nosferatu with his hand in Mrs Millers breast - god if she’s pregnant did she have THAT inside her? Oh, oh same with Usha Vance. Ok digressed a little.

Kristy Kanen's avatar

The recipients of the Journalism scholarships were ROBBED, of their moment, unfortunately. The reporter who was to receive an honor for

The incompetence of these would be assassins is staggering.

Kristy Kanen's avatar

There have been bad, dumb, corrupt presidents (Harding, Andrew Johnson, Buchanan) before. Im not a student of the history of the Executive branch, and Trump is probably the most corrupt, but I dont think he planned this one. But that doesn't mean someone else didn't. Did they kill the assassin?

P123Sunny's avatar

“Every President for the last 150 years, have been DEMANDING that a large, safe, and secure Ballroom be built ON THE GROUNDS OF THE WHITE HOUSE.”

Uhhh… we happen to have 3 living Presidents who have served in the last 150 years. Maybe, just maybe, someone should ask them if they DEMANDED that! 🤔🤷‍♂️

rlritt's avatar

But why would the correspondents dinner be held in the White House ballroom?

Kristy Kanen's avatar

To make Combover Caligula happy.

CreakyKnees's avatar

Trump also claimed that the military demands the ballroom. I'm sure that the servicemen deployed to his war, floating around endlessly, deprived of decent nutrition are begging with tears in their eyes for a big beautiful ballroom. In your dreams, Donald.

2Cats2Furious's avatar

It’s worth noting that Donny has told the story several times about how he offered to build a ballroom for Obama, and he was turned down. So, not every president..

Juliet Rigtrup's avatar

They, well most of them, were too busy doing their jobs to think about demolishing parts of the White House.

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

Response to botched assassination attempt: "We're gonna need a bigger ballroom!"

P123Sunny's avatar

Ok - TEARS IN MY EYES 🥹😅😂

Just finished watching Meet The Press. The Press panel went on ad nauseum about the increase in political violence in this country and the need to turn down the temperature of the rhetoric. Not once mention the vitriol spewing out of Pumpkinhead's mouth on a daily basis as... oh, possibly being factor! The media is slowly morphing into what this administration wants, just a mouthpiece for their agenda.

Joe Witkowski's avatar

Fuck NBC - Nazi Broadcasting Corp

Nora's avatar

I'm reminded that Matthew Dowd was instantly fired for saying something along those same lines Re: that Charlie Kirk's rhetoric might be a factor in his killing. None of the msm/political quislings want to stick their neck out or be shown the door.

“why is Stephen Miller using his wife as a shield? shouldn’t it be the other way around?”

I think he was just copping a feel in case they didn’t make it out alive

rlritt's avatar

In all fairness, maybe the shooter was behind him.

As an aside, who the fork would marry that guy?

Paula Dean's avatar

Seeing her pregnant, my reaction is "eeewwww", because we all know how babies are made and....🤢🤮

rlritt's avatar

Let's just all pretend she has a really sexy gardener.

Kristy Kanen's avatar

With horrible taste in women.

Mary Hall's avatar

This is spawn number four. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!

Beth K's avatar

Is her name "Rosemary"??

zuzu's avatar

Oh, are you unfamiliar with the odious Mrs. Miller?

rlritt's avatar

Yes, since is the first I've heard he was married.

arne link's avatar

Good one! It's probably Elon's kid anyway, so who cares?

Mark Slattery's avatar

The "now you see why we need the ballroom" nonsense only makes sense if he and future presidents never leave the White House. There will always be heightened danger in public, rallies, golf course, etc. Try again, Cankles.

Ron's avatar

I'm in the "Faked" brigade on this one...too big a coincidence. Next, they'll burn the Reichstag.

Dana Jae Labrecque's avatar

Yes. Totes, Ron. I believe we’re gonna see many more of these before November. And I don’t think anyone among us feels safe with this particular FBI roaming.

Noel's avatar

Especially where there's an open bar.

P123Sunny's avatar

“So weird Donald didn't stand up, ask for his shoes, defiantly raise his fist, and say "Fight, fight, fight…”

arne link's avatar

He stumbled going out. That made him forget his lines.

Carol Cook's avatar

He holds all the cards alright. The Jokers.

Virgin Monk Boy's avatar

A gun scare at the Correspondents’ Dinner and Trump’s first instinct was to sell America a bulletproof ballroom. That is not leadership. That is QVC for authoritarian panic. Blessed are the Secret Service agents doing cardio while the nation waits for one adult to say maybe fewer randos with guns would be nice.

Cyndi's avatar

Yeah, QVC filed for bankruptcy this week. They couldn't compete.

KBinPNW's avatar

For those of us old enough to know, The Keystone Cops come immediately to mind.

HI2thDoc's avatar

You said it before I did. Yep, yep, yep.

myhoopbabies's avatar

Exactly what I said. My 26 year-old daughter and I were watching that same clip and I googled Keystone Cops to show her what it reminded me of and we laughed and laughed. Is that not the appropriate reaction to an assassination attempt on the president? It felt right.

Tracy Adams's avatar

Staged or not, get ready for Trump and team to milk the shit out of the narrative to fit their agenda.

Gayna's avatar

There will most likely be some commemorative merch, some praying and praising for protection of the chosen one, a new crypto offering, and perhaps a T-shirt for sale.

Fran's avatar

Oh, c’mon. This was completely staged. I expect that the perps will be reassigned to DHS any day now.

P123Sunny's avatar

Esp when you see the horrible polls numbers released prior… yeesh

George A. Polisner's avatar

Thank you Jeff.

It is truly amazing how one event can change everything.

Trump went into the dinner as a criminally corrupt pedo elect, his economic policy failures still gaining downward momentum, his idiotic "warfighting" led by an alcoholic ex-Fox "News" pundit, and his Cabinet -a menagerie of incompetence, corruption, and fealty.

Now coming out of the event -well the same group of criminally corrupt incompetent failures. I guess everything hasn't changed at all.

Susitrav's avatar

And, it also appears that trump has taken over the organization of the WHCD! "We'll reschedule" WTAF?

George A. Polisner's avatar

Yes. Brendan Carr will take care of it.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Go fuck yourself, Brendan Carr

You're just a propaganda czar

Using the FCC

To oppress speech that is free

'Cuz your head's up drumpf's ass so far

When Jeff says clown Carr…

P123Sunny's avatar

HaHA‼️🎯

Kristy Kanen's avatar

🤣 Good one !

rlritt's avatar

Because they are all his propagandists anyway. They're not really journalists.

Kristy Kanen's avatar

Not ALL of them
