I truly believe your regulars mentally autocorrect in real time. I read it the way you intended! Don’t be hard on yourself for the rare mistake. You’re fighting the good fight for us and helping our sanity!

Gina's avatar

I agree with Matt and Susan. We don’t care about small mistakes. We love your posts!!!

displacedCTYankee's avatar

>We don’t care about small mistakes"

I care, and so does Jeff T. That's why he acknowledges, and corrects, them.

Robert Eckert's avatar

Well, it's a smaller mistake than putting tariffs on an island inhabited only by penguins.

Gina's avatar

🙄 Got it. I have officially removed you from the “we.”

People are saying. Many people are saying.

What Matt & Gina said. It could be worse. Just ask Hank Tough

I confess that I couldn't stomach reading/watching the clips, but I was mightily appreciative of the many "sir"s that Jeff was able to insert in the imaginary ass-kissing ill douché will claim he's receiving.

I didn't notice. You know how the brain can read if only the first and last letter are printed? I think it's the same thing with this situation. "Don't sweat the small stuff!"

Ellen H's avatar

Didn’t even notice.

Thank you for doing the shit work of watching Faux News and listening to what these clowns say so that we don’t have to suffer through that.

Don’t worry Jeff, most of your readers can actually tell when your posts include a typo, a grammatical error or heaven forbid, the wrong verb tense. All’s good.👍

Robert Eckert's avatar

And all of Jeff’s readers can and do read.

CAM from 🇨🇦's avatar

Thank you Deborah. The use of “most have or most do” is a manner of speech. It imparts the notion of a large part of something, in this case society, without conducting a survey to identify and include a reliable sample of representative numbers of people who are included in a comment. If you have the time to do a survey on readers’ comments, be my guest.

Yup. That pretty much says it all.

Jeff, I always notice the Substance of what you say. The substance of what you are saying rings true with me. I am feeling like I need to get over feeling sorry about my own financial tanking and worry about the people who cannot feed their children or get necessary medicine.

I will be expressing my feelings about this tomorrow by joining the world of Americans who do not like what is going on with Hands Off. I will be going to express this in Berlin.

There will be Hands Off rallies in countries around the world. Here are the ones posted on the Democrats Abroad website. Please share this with friends in other countries.

Walt Svirsky's avatar

Jeff is brilliant, referring to Lutnick, “. . .it’s been at least twelve hours since he’s said anything heartlessly out of touch.”

KMD's avatar

The worst thing about Howard Lutnick' heartless responses is that he should be bowing down & thanking whatever gods there are that he's still alive!

On Sept 11, 2001, American Airlines flight 175 crashed into 2 World Trade Center, & all 658 employees of Cantorfitzgerald, where Lutnick was President, were killed, including his brother Gary! The only reason Howard Lutnick wasn't in the office that day is because he had taken his son to Kindergarten.

Most of us, having survived that fiery death, would have made a promise to live a better life in service to our fellow man. But no - Howard gets his jollies from mocking seniors who depend on Social Security. So much for learning life's lessons.

longtimebirdwatcher's avatar

And those of us in California remember watching that.

janice's avatar

One of his earliest post 9/11 actions was to cut off paychecks to the widows of his employees, even before their deaths were confirmed.

This is the plan: Destroy America and reboot it as an autocracy for the benefit of tech billionaires. This is not a conspiracy theory, it is Curtis Yarvin's plan. Musk has spoken glowingly of Yarvin and parroted his ideas. So has Peter Thiel who groomed JD Vance for VP. It comes across as crazy talk, but they are deadly serious about destroying everything we love about this nation.

Mary Lou Williams's avatar

If the majority on the Supreme Court agree we are goners.

Edwin Hurwitz's avatar

They are irrelevant in this. The goal is to destroy the nation as we know it, including all of its institutions. The tariffs and resulting crash of the stock market is all part of it.

I am absolutely flummoxed ... In my 70 years on this Earth, I have never watched a president deliberately tank the economy and destroy the government. This is an act of war and treason against the American People. He needs to be impeached, convicted and removed to one of his golf motels to be hanged.

David Olson's avatar

I’m just about 80. So let me add my 10 year advantage: Nothing compares to the unfolding tragedy Trump is inflicting on us. Everything we grew up with from the FDIC to our global economy came from the hard lessons of world wars and Depression. It came from the robber barons. It came from the depredations inflicted on Blacks well into the 20th century. And Trump is unwinding it all and for what? Frankly only one argument seems consistent, he’s a Russian agent (no, I don’t have evidence).

Doreen Dalesandro's avatar

It came from the struggle of women to get the right to vote, to be treated as individuals and not as an appendage of a man, to be regarded as equals. And we are STILL fighting for equality 🤨 Adds this 73 yr old female.

Walt Svirsky's avatar

The evidence is plain to see, David. He put tariffs on every country but Russia. What else is necessary. If it wasn’t for a 💯 percent population of domestic terrorists cosplaying as Republicons, ASSMOUTHPANTLOAD would have been impeached already.

Kate's avatar

Putin’s puppet implementing his playbook…

Outdoorluvr's avatar

An act of war on the entire globe! I know it would be terrible for Americans, but I really hope that other countries throw reciprocal tariffs at the U.S., instead of trying to negotiate with him. He wants and expects them to come crawling to him for relief, and they shouldn't oblige.

Kathy H's avatar

It doesn't look like other countries are going to take his shit & I say, good, too! His delusions of his own importance needs to be corrected. It's not the U.S.'s role to "rule" the world & it sure AF is not his. How dare he desecrate our honor like this? I don't care what the price is, I didn't live my life doing the right thing to be degraded like this, & all those who have went before will not have died in vain if we have anything to say about it. And, we do, we sure do.

It is risky getting up in the morning. What the fuck will they do to make our lives miserable today?

Trump may be out to destroy America and the American people but what he is doing to end elections and our right to vote is what is dangerous. He wants to grind us to dust from now on. Are any of you willing to put up with that? Not me.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

Couldn't have said it better.

David's avatar

I’ve said it before and will again, the pain now for gain later is trickledown economics by another name. It was used to con the electorate and into believing that the if you give your money to the wealthiest members of society they, in the spirit of giving, will invest that money and eventually, make you rich. Now, instead of convincing you to hand over your money they will just take from you, with the promise that, trust them, all will be well. I find it hard to believe that people would buy the same sack of dung again. It was a scam when Reagan sold it decades ago and it’s still the same fraud today.

The uneducated, the gullible and the stupid are the lifeblood of the Republican Party. Americans can do better.

Declan's avatar

The 'trickle down' scam was the biggest con ever perpetrated on Americans ...by Reagan. And just a few years ago I hear that a congressional report? is published that said that 'trickle down' didn't work to help middle class 😅🤣😂....And I'm thinking, IS THIS an Onion article?? Of course it didn't work....it was a scam that successfully transferred wealth from middle class to the wealthy! And here we are.

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

What you've described perfectly is neo-feudalism. The wage slaves and real estate serfs will get to keep a fraction of their earnings without receiving any social benefits. Infrastructure will be neglected and the environment will be blackened. Compliance will be rewarded only with punishment by the overlords momentarily withheld.

Robert Eckert's avatar

"Americans can do better." Assumes facts not in evidence.

Dr J's Sanity Space's avatar

Well, David, apparently millions of Americans did not do better. Wtf? What is that awful pathology in the American psyche?

HI2thDoc's avatar

Every single American who isn't a billionaire should be absolutely enraged and want to throw a brick through their TV every time Howie the Lut Nut lies or says something so out of touch. Dave Drell's avatar

I feel that everyone in agent orange’s fucking administration and all those rapacious fuckheads cheering the stable genius’ economic chaos should be prohibited from capitalizing on the market.

Joe Witkowski's avatar

These Republican soulless ratfucks have been allowing for-profit corporation CEO’s for 3-4 decades now to rape and pillage the free cash flows of their own corporations via share buy-backs. Now the enablers of those hopefully bound-straight-for-hell CEO’s (and their boards and people-in-charge teams) are doing the same thing right in our fucking faces:

• Orange Hitler crashes the market

• Howard Nutlick and Steve “Bent-Over” Bessent fucking watch with their thumbs up their asses

• The MAGA oligarch vultures buy low

• The MAGA oligarch vultures sell high

• we exit our retirement and go back to work because these unconscionable motherfuckers have robbed our 401ks and stock valuations in broad daylight

Thank you! I've given up explaining to people how impeachment and the 25th work and why they are non-starters in the present moment.

Bob Bowden's avatar

The 25th would never be invoked as a means of switching parties in power, because Cabinet members would never cede power to the opposing political party. However it is conceivable that it could applied to remove a madman of their own party who is directing a trainwreck, in favor of someone they consider to be relatively sane.

Outdoorluvr's avatar

Well, there are 18 of his stupid and heartless assholes in line behind him, so the 25th isn't an option for saving us.

I read enough history to know how both usurpers and rightful heirs have disappeared those who stood in their way. It ain't pretty, but when there's no legal alternative . . . ? It's pretty damn scary. I wonder if the Republicans know what they're playing with. They should, because it's their allies who've been flirting with violence and threats of violence for years.

Sooz Hall's avatar

Would trading genuine Russian assets (I think Justadick would do whatever Putin asked for the power) for a theocratist be a good deal?

Confusing for sure! The 25th is the reason for impeachment.

Susanna J. Sturgis's avatar

Not sure what you mean here. Impeachment is in the original Constitution. The 25th Amendment wasn't ratified till February 1967.

HI2thDoc's avatar

He is undeniably a fucking moron. Sadly, he is in the position to fuck over the entire world economy because there are enough other fucking morons in America who put him there.

Mary Lou Williams's avatar

I don't think he is a moron as he is being so successful in destroying this country while we watch the quick burn without even so much as a garden hose. I have growing angst as taxes are due soon and I don't want to write a check to these liars and cheats to spend on known Ponzi schemes and against my fellow Americans.

Lauren Primoff's avatar

Pay your taxes. This is not the year to die on that hill. They might send you to Salvador.

D.S. Ullery's avatar

This one particularly resonates with me because the media this week has been flooded with Republicans doing talking head interviews acknowledging there will be pain, but we'll come out stronger.

But not for any of them, of course. They're all wealthy overpaid congressmen who have no idea what the working class is going through.

And if you think I'm exaggerating, look up the video of the federal employee who got laid off, confronted his congressman and asked why he had to lose his job and was told by said congressman on camera "You probably deserved it . You seem like a clown."

Understand this, folks: The Republicans are now at a point where they no longer care what their constituents think . They're insulting voters to their faces and refusing to do town halls. And when they do decide to show up for a town hall, they end up criticizing the audience for complaining and asking hard questions.

Now, do the mental legwork: Who blatantly and openly gives a middle finger to their voting base and tells them they're okay with those same struggling voters suffering economic hardship so they can pass their agenda?

I'll tell you: People who are not worried about elections. That's what we all need to be paying close attention to, because Trump and the Republicans are revealing that they have no concerns about being voted out. That very likely means they are already aware of a plan to challenge the mid term results as being fraudulent and have Trump throw them out if they don't win and then do the same for the next Presidential election .

Add to that the open push to change the rules so Trump can have a third term, and the very real, very RED flags of an intended fascist dictatorship installing itself in power are right there on display.

What happened in Wisconsin was amazing, but it's not enough to stop this unless we prepare to fight. March, protest, vote against them , don't do business with any company that aligns with them. Form entire communities of resistance online and in person.

Because right now, there's no actual governing. They're just tearing everything down to remake America in Trump's image and it won't matter what your sex race or religion is when that happens, because if you're not with them, at that point the gun wielding thugs in body armor and jackboots will be showing up at your own door. Count on it

Stranger Than Friction's avatar

Well, some believe, perhaps too optimistically, that the Rs are terrified that the oligarchs won't be able to pull this off, so the Grand Orc Party is moving as quickly as possible to keep things going their way and to increase their own personal wealth and power. Sadly even though they will lose big time, I doubt they’ll ever feel the pain most of us in the real world will feel. I happen to have a rather wealthy friend who isn’t even concerned that he lost $19K in the stock market yesterday. Meanwhile I’m terrified to even look at what this sadistic game playing is doing to my pathetic 401K. 🫣

I am fucking tired of ‘there will be temporary hardships’ bullshit🤬 As you said, D.S., the bastards who say this will never suffer hardship; they haven’t a clue what it’s like to live from paycheck to paycheck. Fuck them all to hell 🤬🤬🤬🤬
