gonna leave this here, from AOC on bluesky:

KEEP CALLING. PEEL OFF ALL DEM SENATORS YOU CAN.

☎️: (202) 224-3121

Tell them to vote NO on Cloture and NO on CR. Vote is pushed to after 1:15ish for now. Situation is fluid.

The only public YES votes are Schumer and Fetterman. They need 7-8 total. KEEP CALLING.

Call retiring Senators too!

I’m in DC. We have bupkis. A non voting Delegate to the House & a “shadow Senator”. I reached out to the 4 Dem Senators & 2 others. One wrote I wasn’t his constituent (I opened my letter acknowledging that) ergo buh bye they come first. My BIG issue on top of all is UNLESS EXTENDED Medicare coverage of tele health stops 3/31/25 hurting many of us who don’t need to go in & it’s impossible for most for a 10 min visit. I’ve heard NO Dems speak for the extension.

Replace loser Trump with Chris Murphy NOW!

Or the rest of the world is going to replace the USA. Even China is getting in on the tariff wars. Look out Texas. China is not buying US beef any more. So, no USAID, no children's food program, no China beef, and Americans are not going to be able to afford it. What are the beef producing states?

The ten states with the most cattle are Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, Kansas, Montana, Kentucky, North Dakota, and Iowa. Texas leads the pack with an astounding 4,475,000 cows, securing its position as the top beef-producing state.

Yeeha Texas! There you go.

European countries are starting boycotts on US. I believe in Denmark or Sweden or both, black stars are placed on goods that do not have any US parts.

https://www.fastcompany.com/91296407/danish-grocery-stores-have-a-new-trick-for-boycotting-us-products

So much for taking Greenland. EU is already planning military strategy. With Hegseth in the lead on that, US is in a great position. Trump scorning French wines is as much about France providing Europe with a nuclear shield negating the fact that the US has more nuclear weapons, because it only takes one and done.

If you only have one opportunity to oppose what's happening, and that means you can capture legacy media with a shutdown and filibuster, and the vets are in 50 states and DC over the wkend, and the GOP reps are on the run from their own constituents, and you have near daily/weekly demonstrations all over the US, then dems have the conditions for a one month CR demand and should at least try. Assuming the consequences will somehow be worse when there's no way to rein them in now doesn't make sense. They don't have the military captured yet but in 6 mos they will. Right now there's enough opposition among military members - before huge purges - that orders might not be followed now even under duress from the administration. In six months those moves will be much easier to do. Right now the momentum of the people is in opposition, and people are willing to take the pain up front to stop the worst from moving forward, if we don't have support at the highest levels of congress it will weaken the opposition mvmt.

“Now, I want to be clear: I do not condone violence or vandalism of any kind. That is a deeply held belief of mine that comes from the bottom of my CBS legal department." — STEPHEN COLBERT

“With that in mind, I find it interesting that there’s a growing trend of Cybertrucks being vandalized and used as skate ramps or covered in garbage. To be fair, that might not be vandalism; that might just be a simple mistake because they do look a lot like a dumpster.” — STEPHEN COLBERT

I'm only going to say this once. There was a time, not long ago, when Tesla owners were heroes for not putting gas pollution into the air. New owners might be a problem, but for car owners (we're not talking trucks here) they saw the future and acted on it. If you want to backlash, make sure the owners have bought their Teslas after January 1, 2024. Otherwise, just enjoy your climate crisis. I can't help you. We've got two Chevy EVs and we do just fine, thank you.

Carol JLH's avatar

There are bumper stickers for those EV heroes. However, I change your "best by/buy" date from 1 Jan 2024 to Sept 2022 when Musk refused the request from Ukraine to activate Starlink to Sevastopol. Ukraine believed that area was already activated. It was not. (Strange, that!) Musk wrote later, “the obvious intent being to sink most of the Russian fleet at anchor”. “If I had agreed to their request, then SpaceX would be explicitly complicit in a major act of war and conflict escalation.”

I say take him at his word. He's on record as tying SpaceX and Starlink to outcomes when utilizing his technology. So that makes him "explicitly complicit" in every drug deal, murder, kidnapping, etc. that uses Starlink.

Seeing as Krasnov is such a germophobe and that (early stage) syphilis is relatively easy to cure with antibiotics....I suppose it's within the range of possibility that untreated syph is the root cause of his serious cognitive decline:

(side effects of late stage or tertiary syphilis are many but the worst are the cardiological and the neurological deteriorations--aortitis, heart valve damage & aneurysms...neurological problems centered around stroke, nerve damage, dementia, hearing and/or visual impairments, urinary incontinence...and a host of other physical issues)

However, I'm slightly more inclined to point a finger at his unremitting use of Adderall AND finasteride (Propecia). The side effects for continuous use of Adderall might be enough to explain his more obvious symptoms: difficulty falling asleep or interrupted sleep, paranoia, hallucinations, EXACERBATIONS OF EXISTING MENTAL ILLNESS. It could just be the family Alzheimer's Disease making a gradual appearance. We'll never know until he keels and a transparent and honest doctor's report is released.

Arendt’s description of Boer life and history is interesting. Clannish. Lazy (because they “discovered” that native blacks could be coerced). Racial thinking evolved into racism. It is a part of her view on imperialism (scramble for Africa period), bureaucracy, and racism pointing the way to totalitarianism.

Actually the reason that Greenland is a Danish territory is because at one time, when several Caribbean countries where held by Denmark, there was a deal that Denmark would give control over those islands to the US in exchange for them colonizing Greenland There is always an historical reason for borders.
