of course, this post only scratches the surface. there was way too much great stuff to fit into one post. EXCELLENT JOB, EVERYONE! really, what a day.

One correction, if I may. Idaho as a whole is deeply red, but Boise is not. Boise is a blue dot in a sea of red (I live in Boise)

mnakloon's avatar

I should probably clarify my original post here about Boise being a blue dot. To be sure, we definitely have our fill of wackadoo MAGA’s, right wing neocons, neonazis, “tough guys” strutting around with their black leather and guns visible, Trump flags, etcetc, and we are surrounded by adjacent nutso little towns (not to mention the batshit crazy legislature! Yikes!).This is fucking Idaho, after all. Bleh! But for the most part, Boise is a progressive little refuge in the middle of the madness

Why do we tolerate this increasingly obvious billionaire-owned thumb on the f’n media scale‼️‼️⁉️

A.J. Madison's avatar

Tolerate? I gave up on the lamestream media completely in early 2024. But do you think CBS evening news misses me? Not one whit. I get all my news from podcasters and editorialists, like Jeff. Alas, one of the best ways to get the lamestream media's attention involve felonies. And they're not worth it. Owned by pretentious & oblivious billionaires who are eventually going to get "the Marie Antoinette".

Rhesus's avatar

If I'm any indicator, for everyone who actually attended a rally, there were many who were "...there in spirit" and "Thanks for representing us".

Cheri Collins's avatar

I wasn’t able to attend, but decorated my car in “No Kings” bling and drove by, honking and waving.

Leslie Black's avatar

A car drove by our rally with a sign that said “ For God’s sake, JUST DIE”

Punkette's avatar

Cheri, you did attend!!! Thanks honey 💙

Richard Von Busack's avatar

We got plenty of nice honks, as opposed to the angry honks. I can tell the difference somehow.

Kathleen Weber's avatar

As a retired New York cab driver, I know about 7 different honks. My career lasted 1980-1982 while in graduate school.

HI2thDoc's avatar

You must know some creative swear words too

Kathleen Weber's avatar

Cabbies communicate among each other by honking, not verbally.

Cathy Wray's avatar

Kathleen, you drove a cab? I bet you have great stories to tell!!!

Robin D's avatar

My BFF became a regular customer, then like family, with one of the first (or maybe only) female NYC taxi medallion owners. Writer Fran Lebowitz was a cab driver too, but probably years before you. I think she owns and drives a Checker cab she painted gray (how I loved and miss them!) You must have the best stories Kathleen. I'm here for 50 years and I confess, still after all this time I am surprised when I get a woman driver (if I do it's in an Uber, not a yellow cab).

Kathleen Weber's avatar

When I was thinking getting into cab driving, I jumped into a cab driven by a woman, and she said it was going very well. I never saw one after her.

Robin D's avatar

It was and still is very unusual. In 50 years if I saw 5-10 it was a lot.

Steve in SoCal's avatar

I drove one for 2 weeks in 1978. It was the overnight shift. Hated it. The dispatcher loved sending us to drag bars so he could say, "She'll take it in the rear." 🙄

But yes, the Checker Marathon was great! Cavernous inside, and they'd run virtually forever.

Robin D's avatar

The overnight shift in 1978 must have been straight out of the movie "Taxi Driver" The city was so bad and crime ridden, even though I look back on movies like that and Midnight Cowboy now with a sense of nostalgia, and I know it must sound crazy, but I have lived here long enough to see the Disney-fication of NYC and it hasn't always been for the best. The drag bars were in the village and then the S&M gay bars like the Anvil were on the West Side Hwy, right? I lived uptown, 4 blocks away from my other BFF, but if I left her apt late..like 2 am (we were 22 in 1978, partying, probably stoned or drunk) I was terrified to walk home alone.. Always grabbed a cab....even then when I made no money I was always a good tipper!

I miss those Checkers especially with the fold down seats. Now I'm almost 70, the yellow cabs all have sliding doors that I can barely open and are so high off the ground that I have can barely get in and out of with my bad knees.

Daniel M Kimmel's avatar

I was at the Somerville, MA rally as opposed to the humongous one on Boston Common. (Been there, done that.) About 100 people showed up around a small traffic circle and there were plenty of responses from drivers from repeatedly tapping the horn to waving or giving thumbs up. Only 2 or 3 negatives. Hope we ruined their day. :)

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

We had at least a dozen demonstrations in our large county (Cuyahoga, Ohio, the location of Cleveland) but our big downtown demonstration was still really big.

Major Kong's avatar

99% of the honks at our local rally were friendly. We ignored the other 1%.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

I didn't see any of the other, but then we are in the middle of a blue city.

Ray Rippey's avatar

My Subaru only honks nicely, it's embarrassing when I try to angry honk.

Janet Zimmerman's avatar

Right! My husband and I joined a virtual rally since we couldn't make it in person.

Robert Eckert's avatar

I had to work, as always on Saturday, but thanks to everyone who went out.

Ellis Weiner's avatar

What I just said, too. I may as well add: Aren't sociologists saying that 13.5 million would represent the critical mass necessary to overthrow an authoritarian regime? If so, I think we're beyond that.

barb's avatar

Ellis, I so hope you're right but do you know where you found that #? I was hoping we'd reach the 3.5% threshold which 13.5 million would do but i haven't read anywhere that the #s were that high. So far i've come across estimates of 8-9million. Still that's significantly more than the turnout at prior ones.

Ellis Weiner's avatar

barb--I made it up. I'm not saying 13.5 were on the streets. I just think it's plausible that, for every one on the street, there is __ who agrees but wasn't. At 9 million, all (or "all") we'd need is a half-person who didn't show up but agrees. And there's plenty of half-people in the US! I could be wrong, but not THAT wrong.

Nora's avatar

I wonder when the counts were made?? Since the protest spanned three or more hours in participating cities, people arrived throughout the three hours. I arrived at ours an hour after it started. So, if people were counted in the beginning of the protests, then they missed the people who came later and should have been counted. Just wondering?

Ellis Weiner's avatar

Good point. I have no idea how anyone estimates these crowds. From photos? At X people per acre? What about those crowds strung out along a highway? And you're right. If the measurement is taken early in the demo, then the total number by the end will be larger. If it's taken late, then the early people who left aren't counted, and the number will be smaller than it should be.

Nancy Braus's avatar

Remember that there are many millions of immigrants who are too much at risk to join a protest- we are all standing up for them! I know a couple of Hondurans who were very glad we were there, but would never go to a protest, even in a small town with sympathetic police. You never know when the ICE Gestapo will show its ugly face.

Kathleen Weber's avatar

Jeff! I wanna see your sign!

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

I didn't make one. I was too busy taking photos (that I ended up not using) of the Beacon NY event to carry a sign. y'know, because I'm A Responsible Journalist And Everything™.

rlritt's avatar

I didn't have a sign either but I was able to help a man and his daughter hold up their 10 foot wide cloth No Kings banner that they had bought.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

I also didn't because carrying a sign while using a camera is awkward.

Jan Moon's avatar

I carried a sign but didn't take pictures because my hands were too cold. But my friend, age 90, took lots of pictures. Bless her!

Salspho's avatar

Anastasia. I saw you in the crowd by the stage but wasn’t able to get over there to say hello. Plus, you were busy shooting.

PollyP's avatar

I made a very cool hat with 3D No Kings on the front, an American flag on the side, and the words "EPSTEIN FILES" in neon yellow in the back. That way my hands were free for picture takin'.

Dan Boss's avatar

The creativity of the signs in these 2025-6 protests is amazing to me, and impressive. Admittedly there's no shortage of material coming out of the White House, but still it strikes me as a marvel. People put a lot of time into their signs, and a lot of thought! Yes, but I didn't watch them. They are however still up. Jim Acosta, Meidas Touch and some others were on my YT feed today. You can Google them and I'm sure you'll see them.

Mary Beth Horsington's avatar

I was at the protest in Syracuse and it was awesome. Froze my butt off after an hour and had to go back to my car to blast the heat but as soon as I thawed out I was back on the street. An elderly man wearing flip flops in 20 degree weather was holding up a huge sign and I just couldn’t believe his feet weren’t frostbitten. I only saw one counter-protester .. a man in the back seat of a car yelling “Do you ever STOP?” With a raised middle finger. The crowd was definitely older … most people I saw were over 50 and many were ancient. They know what’s at stake. The times are definitely a-changing!

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

I've seen my friend's 95 year old mother at virtually every event in the last year. She's in a good health and since she came here from Germany, she knows what's at stake.

Mr. Trump says that rallies and criticism don't bother him . Translation : the truthful and ingenious protests are harshing his buzz in a relentless way , all day and all of the night . Being on the golf course is no escape , no relief from the mental torture . So , great job by the protestors . The unrelenting presence of the Epstein files will never go away no matter how many wars or " excursions " he initiates . The frosting on the cake last week was that Senators voted to fund the TSA workers and Holy Mike could not deliver the House . It wiped that smirk off his arrogant face and will continue to be a source of pain for Mike , the human participation trophy .

Jill Buckley's avatar

Did you call him “Mr” Trump? I prefer Mr Fuckwit tRump. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Robin D's avatar

"Mike , the human participation trophy". I love this George!

Patricia Williamson's avatar

I wonder if Trump sees all of these protests or are his "people" hiding them from him. We know he is not seeing all the damage Iran is causing, not that he'd care.

Robin D's avatar

As AJ Madison said, they hide everything from him. Hopefully Dozy Drooling Donnie was busy with his IVs and his veins collapsing this weekend.

A.J. Madison's avatar

One of my podcasters report that all the "news" that Dwumpy receives is highly laundered, sanitized, ironed, put on a hanger, and shown to him under controlled conditions. He doesn't even get legit military briefings. He gets two minutes of video of stuff being "blowed up". The leap to not showing him pics of the "No Kings" rallies is a small jump. Besides, maybe Kegseth gave him a large order of McDonald's fries, and a baby rattle, and he was happy as a clam all weekend. /s

Gary D's avatar

Great one, Jeff. Peace, bro. 😉

Louise Bowes's avatar

I was in ruby red Woodstock Georgia for the 3rd time and not only was the turnout amazing I only saw three people give us the middle finger. In June and October, it was way more. People are sick of this shit. I also got to meet the Dem running for Barry Loudermilk’s seat in GA’s 11th. Seems like a good guy and hopeful that seat can be flipped.

P123Sunny's avatar

Hate to be a downer - but where did this ‘8 Million’ attendance number come from? My thought was that no matter how it turned out, ‘they’ were gonna underreport the turnout… I mean didn’t they say 7M for NK 2? This was MUCH BIGGER… The corporate media is not gonna give We The People ANY momentum if they can help it :/

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

Our local tv station said "hundreds" of people showed up; "thousands" was short of the truth.

P123Sunny's avatar

👆absolutely this…

Plus 🦊 with the timely assist never hurts :/👇

BEHIND THE PROTESTS:

🦊 News investigation reveals ‘No Kings’ demonstrations backed by network of 500 organizations, many tied to socialist and communist groups.

*(I kid you not)

Leu2500's avatar

some of the left non trad media is also reporting 8 million

I gotta say, that number was put out early

P123Sunny's avatar

VERY early… then everyone else following is afraid to deviate and become a target. Sickening

PTW's avatar

INDIVISIBLE itself has announced the 8 million number (we got an email from them this afternoon).

P123Sunny's avatar

Nonetheless… I sadly must call Bullsh*t

PTW's avatar

It doesn't seem right, does it? But how would you do an accurate head count at these things? I think they are going by the RSVPs they got before the event, but that wouldn't be very accurate. Not everyone signed up at an official "Indivisible" website ahead of time.

P123Sunny's avatar

That number came out too quick, then everyone ran with it. (For NK2 it took about 3 days for all the estimates to come in iirc)

SPW's avatar

That’s ok Jeff. You still done good 💙💙💙.

Tina Zep's avatar

I was pleasantly surprised at the large turnout in the (super red) Villages in Florida. One old man drove by yelling fuck you. I smiled and waved, saying be nice. Mostly positive beeps & 👍 from vehicles driving by.

Ann Anderson's avatar

The only thing better than attending my local No Kings event is seeing the photos the day after from all over the globe. People are so creative and funny, it gives me hope. My favorite sign (at Beaverton City Park) was "For the Epsteinth time, why are we at war?"

Mingo's avatar

In suburban Mesa Az I stood with thousands of others extending 1/2 mile north and south on both sides of a major intersection. My favorite sign was "Alexa, change the president". What gives me hope is far less people are driving by giving us the middle finger salute. They know this shit is ugly too.

myhoopbabies's avatar

I live in a purple Northern California town and my favorite sign was "Jesus sees your middle finger" for all the folks driving by saluting us.

HI2thDoc's avatar

That there is what ya might call an uncomfortable truth

T L Mills's avatar

Oooo, that one is good! Another one relating to middle fingers being thrown at us from the passers by of the red persuasion: "flipping us the bird just shows everybody you support & vote for pedophiles."

Sheila Kay's avatar

Same in Glendale protest!!😇😤

Abby From Maine's avatar

That is so good! Now everyone needs to register and VOTE!

Leu2500's avatar

at my event in Huntsville, AL, the League of Women voters were manning a table where you could check your registration, get the application for an absentee ballot. & I found out where I could hand deliver my application.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

There were half a dozen voter groups at the Cleveland event, registering voters, checking registration, giving out information, and I saw lots of their people walking around with clipboards. The people organizing these rallies definitely don't need to be lectured about voting.

A.J. Madison's avatar

I can't say this often enuf, but feel free, if you've seen this comment before to tell me STFU. The biggest voting bloc in November 2024, and this means people registered and able to vote, was those that did Not Vote At All! That's right, apathy was the largest voice in American politics. 90M registered voters sat on their asses. 74M for Kamala, 78M for ShitForBrains. Mission 1 is get out the vote. Mission 2 is ask, are you happy with your government? If no, there is only one choice, and its not Republican.

Abby From Maine's avatar

Exactly! Hence my comment! VOTE!!!!!

devourerofpancakes's avatar

I love that protests went global, but sadly those people don't vote. It might rattle our billionaire overlords though. They have to do business everywhere.

Leu2500's avatar

what do you mean those people don't vote? Not all of them, of course, but there are American voters abroad who can vote. Democrats Abroad organizes them to vote in the primary & general.

Mara's avatar

Thanks for mentioning this; my daughter is moving to Denmark this summer and she will definitely be voting. I just sent her the info about the organization!

go raibh maith agat Robin(Thank you in Gaelic) I don’t live in Dublin, it’s a lovely city. Like all Capital cities it has its problems, but its historic…Did Ye see The Book of Kells, in Trinity? 💚

Robin D's avatar

Thank you for speaking Gaelic! I was on a cruise to the British Isles maybe in 2017 (Scotland , Ireland, Northern Island, Liverpool, Queensland or do they now call it Cork, where Titanic made her only stop before sailing into eternity. and Guernsey in the Channel Islands. We had a couple of days in Ireland and Northern Ireland (Dublin and Belfast-a dream.since.I have always been obsessed with Titanic. I still wear my sweatshirts all the time) In Scotland we were in Edinburgh (I don't know how I made it up and down the steep cobblestone steps of E. Castle. It was so steep it was hard for me to breathe (I have mild emphysema but didn't know it then) but it was amazing. And Inverness was lovely too. But in Dublin, we had such a great day. After a bus tour (screaming TOURIST!) to see most of the city, they dropped us at Trinity College where we were on our own to see the Book of Kells, then went for lunch, then of course my sister and I found Grafton Street! My kind of city. So much to do and.see. Beautiful stores. There just wasn't enough time. Sometimes a cruise is the only way to get an overview without having to book hotels and transportation to each place in a country and my sister and I are not great at that. Each city in each country was historic, beautiful and very different....the only place I have never been to in the UK is.Wales. We were on one of those huge monstrosities of a ship that I hated with so many people. I've been to London several times (feels very much like home and my father lived there for a year during WWII) and our last trip before covid with my sister was a beautiful week in London and a week in the Cotwalds where we stayed in Cheltenham as our base then drove all over it during the week. The history is so amazing. So many places I want to go back to. I would love to see the Lake District too. Maybe someday. If the UK will still have us and don't ban us from entry! 😥 🙏

That’s Brilliant Robin! I’ve been to Edinburgh -an Amazing Beautiful City. (We’ve Friend’s live there) Scotland is Beautiful. The Lake District is lovely, being Irish though it’s Hard to beat your own Island. It’s Amazingly Beautiful. Ye know Titanic was Built in Belfast? Did Ye go to The Titanic Centre? Great History. It was actually Cobh(near Cork) that The Titanic last left Ireland from. A few people embarked there… You’re Sister and Ye should do a road trip of Ireland. It’s a Beautiful ancient Island. From Sliabh Liag(Slieve League)- Highest Cliffs in Europe,-The Famine Road in Gorgeous Connemara,-Giants Causeway,- Kinsale, Dingle…. Each County just Different, Beautiful, and Wild. Wish Ye Health to Enjoy-and Hope Ye Can get away(and back in again) on your next trip. ☘️

Brenda K's avatar

💯 What Ann said!

SethTriggs's avatar

Great job marching folks! I happened to catch some pricktator-supporting garbage driving a huge pickup with all the large obnoxious flags, even in Upstate New York. But definitely was outnumbered.

Also apparently decided to parade his truck through the artsy neighborhood north of where the protests were, so that might be a...specific choice. Lots of LGBTQA+ people live there. Probably rolled coal through here too.

Of course the big mission is this fall. Make sure everyone that you have your voter registration all locked down tight and you are an ACTIVE voter. We gotta do the thing this Election Day (or before).

If voting weren't powerful Republicans wouldn't work so hard to stop you from doing it!

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

I found that the pro-Donny counter-protestors were so few and far between — especially compared to the previous two No King Days — that I didn't even bother to report on them

In tiny Louisa VA, near my new home, we had one guy across the street with a you know who flag, and we was shortly surrounded by No Kings signs for the rest of the protest. I was so moved by being in a protest in this rural area, I actually cried.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

I still remember my mom, who was president of the Chicago League of Women voter, boasting about going to a fundraiser for the League in East Alton, Illinois, and they had blanketed the street with ERA signs. The person giving the fundraiser lived on the same street as Phyllis Schlafly.

I would cry too. So much of this was very moving! Way to go Wendymae ❤

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

The Communists were definitely there; they are at every event. They typically set up on the sidewalk outside the main event and get pissed off if you say "Refuse Fascism? Oh, you're the Communist party!" (They are, but they're trying to fly under the radar. Also they are not the Laroucheys.)

Arne...Same at our protest in Federal Way WA... the same guy with his big ass truck with a huge Dump won flag ( I refuse to type that name)... he's always showing up and reviving up his engine... not this time...he quietly drove by us multiple times...pretty funny.

Denise Donaldson's avatar

We saw one guy in a pick-up who was holding a big Rump banner out his driver's window. Except....he could only hold it with one hand while he was driving, so it was dragging on the ground. Appropriate!

SethTriggs's avatar

That tracks, that's actually the same respect they have for the flag when they put it on crappy clothing.

Denise Donaldson's avatar

Well, except that, objectively, the flag deserves respect, whereas the Rump banner....doesn't. Only the cultists equate the two.

Frank Nuts's avatar

Right Seth! That’s an extremely important point!

Joe Witkowski's avatar

In case these MAGA assholes get cute, *HOLD ON TO YOUR PASSPORT!! You now live in a Fascist country!*

Stephanie Lajeskie's avatar

In 2017 I was at the women’s march in DC. Yesterday I attended a rally in a small town along the Jersey Shore. Two very different experiences, but the spirit was just the same. It’s been nine fucking years, and I can’t believe we still have to don this.

I love the guy in Tallinn, Estonia. We were actually there last summer, and saw a sign that said, “Can we just skip to the part where he shoots himself in the bunker?” He really is despised all over the world.

Richard Von Busack's avatar

Oh, I have to tell you this story. I made a shirt that said "Fascism won't lower the price of strawberries" and I was in this elevator in a London hotel wearing it, and the lady next to me said, "Oh, that's brilliant" in this really soft voice, and followed up with "Isn't it a pity we all have to wear mottos again?"

That. Is. Priceless. Officially, my all-time favorite!!!

I cried when I saw the guy in Tallin because I can't believe I was in that gorgeous city too. I was there 16 years ago on my way to St. Petersburg and several other countries in the Baltic region. They are very nervous now, as they are in Finland, my doctor has family in Helsinki and they are very worried. being so close to Russia too. I don't think there is anywhere in the world now that is not on edge, and I'm not sure a year later that someone would be comfortable holding that sign there now. It was not lost on me he was one person (and whoever was taking the picture) in front of the US Embassy (and who knows if they would protect him).

Betsy L's avatar

Matt Schlapp asked the audience at CPAC if they'd like to see Trump impeached, and they CHEERED!. He got mad - wrong answer! - and asked again, and THEY CHEERED AGAIN.

Bob's avatar

Todd Blanche DuTurd bragged about firing or forcing out 200 FBI agents and prosecutors involved in Trump’s criminal cases.

The declaration of fascism is out loud for all to hear.

HI2thDoc's avatar

I know Blanche, Bondi, et al like orange from their butt smooching of Preznit Predator, but orange jumpsuits may not suit them as well

Carol C's avatar

The mention of Bondi reminded me of a sign showing Herr Drumpf with Hitler mustache and uniform with his DOG, BLONDI . (Pam’s nickname andHitler’s dog’s actual name.)

Just proves our side has the most intelligent and informed, like these historical references show. The other side? Well, . . .

I always think of the Bondi from South Park- with a perpetual brown nose from kissing you know who's ass. Perfect portrayal of Bondi.

Totally predictable .

That was so funny. I'm glad that it was recorded for all the world to see.

But how many of them will actually do anything to stand up to the fascist in chief?

George in Atlanta's avatar

Is that for real? Is there video?

devourerofpancakes's avatar

Oh hell yeah. I like the people who "wooed" the second time.

Betsy L's avatar

Oh, thank goodness you posted that. I'd read about it, but I didn't have any evidence to back it up.

George A. Polisner's avatar

Thank you Jeff.

Yesterday I was proud to be shoulder to shoulder with so many people in the United States and around the world who value democracy and are defending the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law.

We want economic opportunity and upward mobility for our children, grandchildren, and generations yet to come. We want to feel secure in our homes, communities, and when we travel. We want a world class education system so future generations can compete in a dynamic and rapidly changing world. We want a healthcare system that does not end in having to file for bankruptcy. We want a government that always embraces peace and diplomacy over forever wars. We want blue skies and safe, good tasting water from lead-free taps. We want fairness in the justice system. And no sane person embraces a government rife with corruption and self-dealing.

Regardless of political “side” we all must understand we are being artificially divided and conquered. The past is calling on us to honor the sacrifices made throughout the history of our nation to one day form a "more perfect union" and to finally realize Martin's dream. The fierce urgency of now is calling us to defend democracy and justice as core principles.

Vivian Fletcher's avatar

Wow!!! Well said, sir!!

George A. Polisner's avatar

Well said, George😊You covered a lot of bases🤓🖖

George A. Polisner's avatar

Thank you. There are several more bases that demand and deserve coverage too. I wrote that while heading out the door to No Kings 3. 🤓

Excellent, articulate, serious comment George. We have much to be worried about. 🙏

The people, we rise and yell FUCK IT!

Hey! Drumpf and your minions can SUCK IT!

And hour by hour

We show our real power

And stick your damn heads in a bucket.

You losers, a blue wave is coming

Your sicknesses we are now shunning

You'll get voted out

And you'll scream and you'll shout

"It's not fair! Boo hoo! We're so cunning!"

.... Nope. You're just a bunch of empty, insecure whiners.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Millions of protesters have spoken

They hate how our nation is broken

Congratulations, fat bastard

You truly have mastered

How the resistance is awoken

HI2thDoc's avatar

You, too, Frosty! I could tell you many stories of how I'm not, like trying to caulk without puncturing the foil seal and the material extruded out the back of the tube.

Robert Eckert's avatar

And my Olympic-worthy quadruple klutz with double toe-stub!

Haven't we all? 😉

Frosty McGillicuddy's avatar

It's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it.

I’d say we have dueling poets with you and Frosty

But it’s more like harmonizing poets

Dana Jae Labrecque's avatar

I love the harmonizing poets! Good one, Frank!

The handmaidens' march is simply astounding. There are so many of them!

Paula Dean's avatar

I found that especially moving. I'm getting tears again.

Denise Donaldson's avatar

Ditto, Paula. Just....brilliant and sad at the same time.

Jeff, we estimated about 2,000 people on our Village Green in Falmouth, MA, yesterday. There were folks dressed in shark suits, turtle suits, tri-corner hats, and sporting clever signs. There were also a lot of dogs suitably signed on their little backs. One woman was passing out cookies in the shape of a crown. Our local Indivisible even had enough $ to fund a police detail and rent a few port-a-potties. There were speeches and singing, with the lyrics available via a QR code. The crowd was positive, but righteously pissed off, and it was a great day.

Paula Dean's avatar

That sounds wonderful!

I’m already a subscriber's avatar

That’s a good crowd for Falmouth! Well done! (From Maine)

That old orange bstard is determined to put boots on the ground, if only there was a General who had the guts to tell him NO , or F off just something for god’s sake

arne link's avatar

Young, poor kids join up to try to get a skill or get ahead in life. They come from poor (MAGA) communities. When the body bags start coming home a change is gonna come.

Zut-Alors's avatar

If they die it won’t be for their country but for the whim of one sick old madman

Frank Nuts's avatar

You’re right Arnie. I’m smelling the 60’s in the air…and the smell is getting stronger by the day

Linda McCaughey's avatar

I'm so surprised that he hasn't insisted upon leading the charge as Commander in Chief. After all, he attended military school and is smarter than all the generals.

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

He's a coward. And his military school was a reform school.

Linda McCaughey's avatar

Of course he is, and of course it was. That was sarcasm.

Cathy Wray's avatar

Trump definitely needs to buy some boots, so that HE can go to Iran and experience the war HE started!!!!

Frank Nuts's avatar

I’m wit you Linda! Do you think there’s a chance? Do you think we could set the tone with some Village people music (YMCA preferably) deck him out in a spiffy George Patton uniform with lost of Stars and Stripes and tell him he’s the greatest general to ever general and also tell him there’s a Big Mac out there on the horizon and if he charges out there leading the tanks, Sword in hand, and captures the Big Mac there’s a Ronald MacDonald prize waiting for him…right there next to the machine guns…do you think we could get him to go for it? He’s pretty crazy when it comes to “attention”…he might do it

Richard Von Busack's avatar

I think it's going to be like the Charge of the Light Brigade, only this time it's our turn

Linda McCaughey's avatar

More and more frequently, unfortunately, we are the bad guys.

Steve Kelly's avatar

It was an inspiring day! Even this almost 79-year-old Vietnam veteran hobbled himself out on the street with thousands of other people in Federal Way, Washington and participated in the great statement. Perhaps we will survive this nightmare after all.

Paula Dean's avatar

I'm proud of you, Steve!

HI2thDoc's avatar

Thanks for everything you have done, Steve

Frank Nuts's avatar

Great summary Jeff! Our town had 1500 protesters! Felt good and we have to keep it up!! My sign was trump with a trophy for most mentions with (38,000) in the Epstein Files. Found on internet -so thanks for whoever made that!

Susan Niemann's avatar

I am so glad you shared these pics of rally and signs. SO MANY CREATIVE PEOPLE! This is the America we all want. Damned inspiring. (I didnt attend...my friend had open heart surgery and I'm now in the role of Nurse Rachet. 😂 )

#fucktrump

Linda McCaughey's avatar

I couldn't go, either. The closest protest for me was a 2+ hour roundtrip, and my 2 senior dogs cannot be left that long anymore. They also can't walk well; so, taking them is no longer an option. Sigh. We attended many protests together through the years!!

Paula Dean's avatar

You are a good friend, Susan.

Susan Niemann's avatar

I've learned so much through this experience... I can now give drug injections into his picc line. He has one helluva scar, too. WOWSERS! And of course, if he's craving a tuna casserole, a tuna casserole he shall have. I feel like a walk-in clinic and a short order cook! 🫀👩‍⚕️🩺💉

Robert Eckert's avatar

I had major surgery a couple years back (I'm much better now) and recall how my mood was, shall we say, not always as the people around me deserved.

Susan Niemann's avatar

It aint easy! Glad you're much better now...so will my friend be. I tease him and say, look.... if you just do what I tell ya, everything will be fine. 😂😂😂 He laughs...and thats good medicine.
