Another Epstein quote revealed yesterday, and he would be an authority on such qualities:

"I have met some very bad people. None as bad as Trump. Not one decent cell in his body."

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

as always, there was a fuckton of material to work with. this post could have been twice as long, but I do like to finish up by 11am

Oh gosh Jeff-go back to sleep-there will be more!!!!

Janelle Hartman's avatar

And you do a great job! The cutting-room floor is what the comments are for. :)

Okay, I finished reading your column, and clicked on the YouTube/Al Gore thingy at the t inability to answer the question video at the end, spent the 12 minutes watching it, and I can definitively say that, the end is here, and it has nothing to do with the Epstein emails, it's all about the climate crisis. But these emails are a fun way to avoid thinking about what will happen to anyone under 50, or maybe 60.

Walt Svirsky's avatar

You have again hit the nail on the head, LTBW. These entertaining diversions mask the world’s wasted opportunity to do ONE DAMN THING about climate change.

Even worse than doing nothing, we are accelerating our planet’s doom.

longtimebirdwatcher's avatar

Walt!!!! Where have you been? Have you been commenting late? I only go through the first page of comments now... I've missed you.

Walt Svirsky's avatar

Well, I am taking some time off. My wife told me I was constantly angry from submerging myself into the awfulness that is happening daily. I told her she was wrong, but, when my doggos started avoiding me, I got the message.

I did send you a couple of DM’s. Do you get those on your antique flip phone?

longtimebirdwatcher's avatar

You mean, on my landline? No, as you may recall, landlines don't have anything like that (or at least, mine doesn't). Spouses may not always tell the truth, but animals? They're pretty honest. I've been really working on my garden, and my tomatoes are nearing their end (at least the big ones, but the cherry tomatoes, not so much) and the carrots are ready, and my peas are starting to bulge in their little pods. Survival, you know... But we've already had two inches of rain, almost like pre-1977, and I really need to get a system for rain harvesting. XXX. Remember, if it's news, it will be bad, unless we have a regime change.

Oh, I think Epstein deserves some credit! Think of all the MAGA's who believed tRump's lies....

Elizabeth Schulz's avatar

To ME, it proves even more (aside from his brother - Mark?) that he in no way 'committed suicide'. He had too much on frump and had a cushy deal so to me was 'suicided' quite deliberately and IF his death had been looked into PROPERLY and by real experts it probably would have been labeled a suspicious death or 'homicide'. He knew FAR too much, Michael Wolff was in contact with him - also knew what he knew about frump...but IN prison one is at the mercy of whomever can be bought, just like these purported 'ice agents' or 'border patrol agents' operating with impunity HUNDREDS OF MILES away from any border yet imagining they have sovereignty even over our own Blue Cities' police forces. THIS is now a major crisis for frump/miller et al - so do not be surprised if in his panic and fury he lets miller declare that the military will be fully in charge of ALL of us! I'm expecting some extremely vile such thing to occur. It will either finally wake up magats OR have them join in with attacking their own neighbours. We have precedents from WWII.

Judith's avatar

And they always will. No amount of actual facts will ever convince them that Trump is not the hero they have projected all of their fantasies on.

They remind me of an anti-Israel, pro-Hamas gay man being interviewed after 10/7 and asked if he knew what happened to homosexuals (much less LBGQI+) in Palestine under the religion of Islam? When told he would be most likely murdered on site, or thrown off of a building, or stoned to death, he flounced away saying "that is not true thank you very much!" Hence the group "Queers for Gaza."

You cannot reach people who are that deeply in denial.

All the botox babes hanging out a Mar-a-lago could not care less that Trump trafficked in young women. They would not be at all surprised and would not lessen their worship of him.

The Bible thumpers will look away, just like the Senate and Congress is right now. Or, there will be excuses. I have heard 100+ time that Virginia Guiffre was 17, of legal age in Britain for sex with Prince Andrew who had daughters roughly the same age of Ms. Guiffre when he raped her, so no big deal for the now Mr. Mount-Batten Windsor.

I have learned to never have any expectations of Trump being treated as the criminal he is, helping other criminals (Ghislaine Maxwell, Rudy Giuliani, the Jan 6'ers, etc) live comfortably in their criminality. He IS above the law.

Elizabeth Schulz's avatar

You're PROBABLY correct, Judith - but there's still that wee spark of hope in me which remains lit, hoping against hope that 'some' then more - and even more WILL turn on him. If Boobert could actually say NO after being taken into the Situation Room and threatened/blackmailed/promised/wooed/whatever they did - and STILL refuse NOT to back down from signing the discharge petition to release the Epstein Files, it keeps my tiny spark alive. I'm for sure a cock-eyed optimist, I know - despite that old, mangy orange ferret, SOMEOW having far more than his allotted share of lives.

Diana Hembree's avatar

Well, the victim Trump spent many hours with at Epstein's mansion may have been the young woman who in 2016 testified that Trump had raped her at age 13 at Epsteins house. The transcript of her thorrifying estimony, which was backed up by testimony from her Epstein 'handler,' is available on Kate Mann of Cornell's substack in a link from this story: https://mindsitenews.org/2025/08/15/among-women-anxiety-over-trump-is-turning-to-rage/

Let me give you a good one Jeff , I’m considering a late day post for it but I’m not sure - Hitler had micropenis

My money is that the 🍊💩👜 suffers from the same deformity!

Susan Jane's avatar

Epstein was said to have a deformity in that department.

Robin D's avatar

I believe the attorney at that deposition asked him if it was true his penis was oval.shaped like an egg. 😂

shee-rah's avatar

In addition to looking like an enoki mushroom.

Susan Kemp's avatar

There’s this little ditty from the UK during WWII (sung to the tune of Bridge on the River Kwai):

“Hitler has only got one ball.

Goering has two but rather small.

Himmler is somewhat similar.

And Goebles has no balls at all.

Hitler has only got one ball.

The other is in the Albert Hall.

His mother, the dirty bugger,

Cut one off when he was just small.

She threw it into an apple tree.

It fell into the deep blue sea.

The fishes got out their dishes.

And had scallops and ballocks for tea.”

Claudia Montague Wheatley's avatar

Just found out that Prof. Simon Baron-Cohen of the University of Cambridge is Sasha Baron-Cohen's cousin.

Talk about diversity within a family!

Also, I read that Hitler had a very short penis because when he was young, he tried to piss into a goat's mouth and the goat ... cut him short.

I was SO TAKEN with the Signorile video this morning I just had to get it all out. I had NOT known that once they signed the discharge petition and the 218 votes were reached, they could NOT back down! Entirely NEW news to me - and gave me such a huge smile I can't remove from my face. You are priceless, Jeff. I got some of it last night (since I stay up VERY late), some of it from this morning - but YOU had already put it all together. Bravo and please keep up the most excellent work. Adelita is one of MY new heroes as well as Robert Garcia. Elizabeth Schulz's avatar

Well - I've just read the ACTUAL testimony (transcript) posted here yesterday and am still shaking and shuddering in disgust...so I completely 'get' why EVEN jeffrey epstein thought frump was scum. She doesn't ONLY talk about what he did to her: he as always catered to but was ALWAYS vicious, always MAD at this 13yr old he wanted to wear a blonde wig to look like his daughter (her description of HOW he said that must be heard in HER voice) BUT the real reason she came forward after decades of remaining silent was her FEAR of him becoming President - she's heard his RACIST insults - using the N word, asking for 'maids' like those in his own home - demanding to play out a rape 'fantasy' and THEN threatening to DEPORT THEM, telling this one hispanic girl to 'speak English' (even though she was), and his NASTY comments oh so casually dropped about 'Sand N's' (she spells it out AND his oh-so-casual constant jew 'jokes' pointed at Epstein himself (and HIS penis). We've all already known that he's been a fucking racist/bigot/anti-semite for his entire fucking LIFE - but she was 13 at the time, a virgin thinking she was there to become a model, in abject fear of his violence pointed at her and the other VERY YOUNG girls Epstein treated far more 'kindly' despite his molestation of them.

Elizabeth Schulz's avatar

WAS always catered to. oops.

George in Atlanta's avatar

This reminds me of an SNL skit. A League Of Evil Scientists calls the cops on their new member when he presents his 'child-molesting robot'. It was too much for even them.

Trump was too much for Epstein. I leave that to everyone's imagination.

Joanne Filipo's avatar

😵‍💫😳🤢

KP Johnson Austin, TX's avatar

Even the scummiest POS in the world couldn't stand trump.🤣

Marty's avatar

He also called Trump, 'evil,' and 'mad,' as in crazy.

All dead on observations.

Joyce's avatar

One thing both Epstein and Maxwell had to be experts about was accurately reading other people: it's how the children were selected for abuse, first of all--and it was how they knew ways to target the rich, the powerful, etc.

HI2thDoc's avatar

That's what I was gonna say. An evil POS like Epstein knows another evil POS when he sees one

Grace Kennedy's avatar

And it’s how he knew how to blackmail each of them.

DJS's avatar

Trump has the same ability.

PEACE, LOVE, RESIST's avatar

And millions of people in this country couldn’t, wouldn’t, and/or were too dumb to judge that POS’s character as deeply flawed. What does that say about they who cheer on his worst actions and hatefulness? If Epstein, the monster that he was, thought Trump was too much, I hate to think about what he’s done that we don’t know about yet. This country is filled with the worst racists/sociopaths who love trump for no other reason than who he hates. The certainty that he’s raped little children doesn’t bother them a bit.

CA Productions/Carol Ann's avatar

It's very telling as we saw Americans, seventy-seven million of them, thought electing a 37-time convicted felon and a sex predator was a good idea. The worst is that they think all the convictions are false and made up.

shee-rah's avatar

They had to tell themselves lies in order to justify their votes.

Linda Weide's avatar

I started to read Michael Wolff's "All or Nothing: How Trump Recaptured America" for a book club. I could not even get to the second chapter. I could not spend my time reading about such horrid people and person like that. I was feeling too debased. If I feel that from reading about Trump I cannot even imagine what these girls and young women experienced. I am the mother of a young woman and when she complained about how something was unfair, I would always tell her, "The only unfair thing is that all children in the world do not have it as good as you and your friends!" That clearly resonated with her and she stopped complaining. Last night we were talking about the Epstein Files and what was going on with the young women and girls, and I was telling her that this was part of what I was thinking about when I said that to her. That there are girls who are sexually abused, and it appears it is pretty common globally. We all need to make this world a better place.

Linda Weide's avatar

A friend read it and I decided not to after she told me about it. I have read a lot of stories of sexual abuse and have my own story. My own story when I think about it is really sickening.

"Not one decent cell in his body" could double as both Trump's next medical report AND his 2028 pretend campaign slogan when he finds a way to "run" again.

Kristin Beauchamp's avatar

AND, it takes one to know one‼️

🤬🤯👿🤢😱

Elizabeth Schulz's avatar

Perhaps Epstein considered HIMself more 'decent' since he used his hands to touch/molest these little girls who he used to give him his daily massages - the implication being that by not actually raping them with his penis OR being physically brutal and talking to them 'kindly' he was 'different' than frump so had 'some decent cells in HIS body'? I have no idea, am simply speculating about how some of the possibilities of how these pedophiles 'might' think.

Joanne Beck's avatar

Sorry, I don't believe a word Epstein has ever said. That's just one psychopath calling out another psychopath.

BluDotInARedSewer's avatar

Just stuff his anus mouth with those maxi pads that miraculously healed his bullet riddled ear. He deserves to die a protracted, painful ignominious death. I’m not so much for physical torture (although I wouldn’t mind if someone surgically gave him REAL bone spurs…said the lady with 20 years+ of plantar fasciitis). But mental torture? These heroic breakthrough activities didn’t get a whimper from the MSM.

shee-rah's avatar

And Smart had a shoe that was a portable phone, forecasting the cell phone.

Leslie Goodman-Malamuth's avatar

True, abd the early mobile phones were indeed just like shoes. Dick Tracy’s wrist radio foreshadowed the Apple Watch decades earlier.

MargaretT's avatar

They are probably threatening or blackmailing her about something, but I cannot imagine anything would result in a worse outcome than aligning herself with that immoral cesspool. (She and the others been wading in it occasionally already.)

Question for Karoline Leavitt:

How does a parent look their children in the face knowing that they are doing the bidding of a pedophile? Of course, that's a question that could go to all MAGA parents.

George in Atlanta's avatar

Check your premises. Are they good parents? They say they are.

MAGAs have shown how happy they are to have their children die of preventable disease, get torn apart by weapons of war, and drown in natural disasters. Well, at least the kids died before the Radical Left Lunatics could turn them all into gay-married communists.

Joyce's avatar

You left out the transgender surgery after snack time at school, sponsored by the Radical Left.

Joe Witkowski's avatar

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

Indeed Mark, those crosses that hang around their necks are f-ing ridiculous!

Dr J's Sanity Space's avatar

She HAS to be aware of her lies—how does one then teach their kids to be honest?

Joyce's avatar

It's what makes her so utterly loathsome--and downright evil: she knows she's lying; if you can stand it, look closely at her when she performs and see the glint of self-satisfaction as she delivers the lie and the accompanying demeaning put-down. She LOVES getting to lie. She is one very sick individual.

Dina's avatar

In MAGAworld, I think "honesty" is last on the list of things they teach their kids.

Mwfeiger's avatar

Of course she knows, but her lies have 'divine' as her qualifier.

Sadly, I've met women in my life who were actually proud that their daughters were mistresses or call girls because it meant they were pretty. I worked in a hotel when I was college with a women who lived with her boyfriend along with her teenage daughter and they both walked around the apt in just their underpants all the time! Made me sick.

Lin Talbot-Koehl's avatar

Mark, I'm sure LIEvitt wouldn't even UNDERSTAND that question. I envision her cocking her head to one side & staring, like a clueless Cocker Spaniel. One may as well ask her - or ANYONE entrenched in the MAGAspere - in URDU.

The choice, for people like *her*, between actually CARING about any puppies she may have squeezed out, & the imaginary "perks" of keeping her lips Crazy Glued 3" up #Bumblefuck's rectum, is obvious. NOTHING ELSE EVEN REGISTERS.

That says it all , Mark .

At some point people will begin to question whether Epstein actually committed suicide. Starting to seem that Trump wanted him silenced.

Megan Ross's avatar

I've been questioning that since the news came out that Epstein offed himself...

arne link's avatar

He seemed to have had too much ego and too many connections to have killed himself.

He could have hired the very best law firm and fought the charges for years. He was murdered. No question.

Linda Fulcher's avatar

Me too. N ow, judging from the emails released so far, Trump would have wanted to make certain that Epstein shut up.

Chet Brandt's avatar

Drumph has had many contacts within organized crime organizations since his “construction days” in the NYC, NJ area…pick any one of those groups where drumph could have called in an old “favor…”

Michelle Kenoyer's avatar

I've been questioning that about Virginia Giuffrey (sp?). That poor woman knew too damn much. 😢

Mary Schweitzer's avatar

Her book was coming out. When she came out with information back in Florida, they either ignored her and the other victims or called them ho’s. I could see her fearing this happening all over again, and I really fear for the other victims.

It is perfectly possible that she did not commit suicide. I just wanted to point out the longevity of the damage done to these girls’ psyches - she still had PTSD.

Megan Ross's avatar

I'm with you on that! Her own brother said that Virginia was in a really good place in her life and was in no way suicidal. We can never know what is in someone's mind or heart, but most people show a few cracks if they're going to kill themselves.

Charles Austin's avatar

Same here. There are a whole lot of people that benefitted from his "suicide".

shee-rah's avatar

Do you think the guards were paid to ‘take a nap’?

Mary Hall's avatar

There was much fkery afoot. Epstein was on suicide watch but both guards fell asleep and the camera stopped working. Sure Jan. Also Epstein’s neck injury was consistent with being strangled and not hung.

arne link's avatar

Much fkery, indeed. I'm so glad that Jeff coined that term. I'm using it way too much now. Epstein was supposedly working for foreign governments as a spy. Maybe they offed him?

george campbell's avatar

A lady who reports for the Miami Herald has been following that murder of Epstein from start to finish . The story that " investigators " came up with is the shadiest excuse and most incompetent lying ever done in a cover up .Also , hasn't that jail been demolished ? Nothing suspicious there , right ?

Charles Austin's avatar

As Malcom Nance says: "Coincidence takes a lot of planning."🙄

Denise's avatar

I’m not a conspiracy theory person but Old Ep just knew too damned much to not be “suicided” 🧐

Mary Hall's avatar

A new term was coined after his "suicide" -- to be 'Epsteined.'

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

Starting? Epstein’s association with Robert Maxwell, Israel, Russia and the transnational crime syndicate along with other global organizations with intelligence, let alone the cretinous wastrel speaks volumes about his demise Linda!

Mwfeiger's avatar

If our 'showman' can conjure up a fake shooting of his ear disappearing, then reappearing, he most certainly can cause a killing in what is the equivalent of shooting fish in a barrel.

Joe Witkowski's avatar

Orange Hitler will have his Nazi death squads start doing “Frank Underwood’s” to Epstein victims, potential testifiers, and Republicans who voted in favor of the discharge petition.

Epstein’s brother Mark should hire some expensive bodyguards.

Linda Fulcher's avatar

My fear is that Trump will start at least one war. He probably thinks that a nuclear war would be a really great distraction. We are so screwed.

arne link's avatar

He will start bombing Venezuela shortly. When American service men and women have to go ashore and die for Trump, I really think that even Maggots will revolt. So many poor kids enlist because it gives them an opportunity to lift themselves up. Not too many millionaires' kids sign up.

Morgan's avatar

Some time ago, before 60 Minutes' integrity was compromised, they did a piece on Epstein's death. In addition to all the details like the surveillance camera "malfunctions," they said Epstein had offered nearby inmates large amounts of money to keep him safe. Not the likely actions of someone who is suicidal!

longtimebirdwatcher's avatar

Linda, I think it's clear now that t had him murdered.

Denise's avatar

There are so very many powerful people on that list it could have been any of a number of entities that had him removed from his mortal coil.

rlritt's avatar

I've always wondered about that. Why would a self centered narcissist, scum bag like Epstein kill himself? Out of shame for being a whore monger? Not likely. I'm sure he thought he'd talk himself out of a harsh prison term and spend a few years in a Club Fed.

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

As he successfully did with Alex Acosta in his first round of incarceration. And as Ghislaine is doing now, in her Club Fed low security compound where she's getting preferential VIP treatment. Epstein and Maxwell were birds of a feather, not suicidal but extremely manipulative.

rlritt's avatar

Ms. Maxwell should watch her back.

Kathleen's avatar

“Someone” definitely had him whacked.

Cyndi's avatar

I still don't think Orange Obscenity is capable of believing that anyone can really hold him accountable for anything. He's a narcissist. They don't live in reality.

I do wonder about folks like donors and big players in right-wing media ... and Clarence Thomas.

arne link's avatar

I pity the poor girl who had to do Clarence Thomas, or Bannon, for that matter.

shee-rah's avatar

The big donors and Trump’s lap dogs know who he is. They must be getting what they want in return.

Terri Nighswonger's avatar

I have been screaming this since it happened!!🤬

PTW's avatar

Mark Epstein, Jeffrey's brother, questions the story, too. He doesn't believe the "suicide" angle.

Lucius's avatar

Oh, no goddamn chance he killed himself.

George in Atlanta's avatar

As delish as all this is, I do *not* want Donny to 'step down to spend more time with his family'. I want it to go down as hard as possible, with as much thrashing and pain as possible. The longer poison remains in the system, the more damage it does.

Leslie Goodman-Malamuth's avatar

I've got a theory about those huge-brim hats Melania wears. I bet she's hiding some kind of air-filtration system under there that she breathes through when he's in the room. We need some good investigative reporting by the I've Had It ladies about this.

Joe Witkowski's avatar

She has a methane allergy. Breathed too much of it back in those Slovenia whore houses.

Dave Drell's avatar

My theory is the Ruskies have set up recording devices in the hat - hi tech stuff the Chinese developed - they want to make sure their dog stays in line!

Leslie Goodman-Malamuth's avatar

Epstein talked to the Russians about Trump during his first term. By then those two were scared to death of each other. Now they’ll be the death of each other.

rlritt's avatar

Do really think she married him for love? Wasn't she a "model" when they met? She just lucked out and caught the brass ring. Hey a poor girl from Eastern Europe has to do what she has to do to get by.

Leslie Goodman-Malamuth's avatar

Melania dropped out of the University of Ljubjana her first year to model, so she was too old to be trafficked. Her agency head, Paolo Zampolli, was a trafficker, as were Epstein and Trump in the ‘90s. Epstein shagged her a year before she met Donald, the anecdote that made the fuss. It hardly matters who introduced them. She was there while they trafficked. She was buddies with Ghislaine.

rlritt's avatar

A girl's got to live.

Joyce's avatar

Several media outlets had to retract and apologize after publishing that they "met" through Epstein--the stories really got Melania very, very unhappy. Just like with "focking Chreeezmahz."

Leslie Goodman-Malamuth's avatar

Melania might put peppermint oil or Vicks Vapo-Rub on her upper lip, as in the ER when CDIFF arrives.

Charles Austin's avatar

Right up their alley!!

rlritt's avatar

And I want the "cover up" exposed. They should get all the people who knew and said nothing. Looking at you, Vance.

arne link's avatar

But Holy Little Johnson is third in line. We are pretty much fucked.

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

Boebert is up for re-election is the 2026 midterms. I think Mike Johnson is too. MTG as well? The Epstein shit storm will squall on over the next year and the MAGA boatload is sinking. Vance will be MIA to protect his "brand."

PTW's avatar

ALL members of the House are up for re-election in 2026. Their terms are only two years at a time.

Leslie Goodman-Malamuth's avatar

Whomever follows Trump on the MAGA side will be a figurehead controlled by Project 2025. Rizz-free JD first alerted us to that crowd’s off-putting, offensive social awkwardness. Charismatic reality-show host Trump was a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon. MAGA dies with decaying Donald.

In his fifties, John Tyler married a teen. Grover Cleveland wed his ward. Dr. Stacey Patton’s unsparing look at American white male patriarchy, and other pedo POTUSes, is Substack’s best offering today.

rlritt's avatar

That doesn't absolve Trump. It just means a lot of rich, priveledge guys can get what they want. If we punish enough for them, it might stop it, but there are a lot of poor young girls out there.

There are questions we should be asking.

https://thistleandmoss.com/p/trump-is-a-pedophile-rapist

The Question We Should Be Asking

The question isn’t whether these emails prove Donald Trump committed crimes. The question is why our standard for accountability has become so low that “didn’t commit crimes” is considered an adequate response to documented evidence of knowing about predatory behavior and choosing discretion over reporting.

The question is why wealth and social connection so consistently insulate men from even having to answer basic questions about what they knew and when they knew it.

The question is how many Virginia Giuffres have to die before we decide that protecting reputations is less important than protecting young people.

These emails are not a hoax. They are authentic correspondence, properly obtained through congressional subpoena. What they prove is exactly what survivors have been saying all along: the people who could have stopped Epstein knew, and they chose not to act.

That’s not a criminal conspiracy. It’s something potentially worse—it’s how power protects itself in plain sight, through the simple expedient of looking away while assuring everyone else they saw nothing at all.

Declan's avatar

YES...reporters preface their spiel with...."It must be noted Nothing in files explicitly shows the President abused girls.....". Fine, but put Obama in that position and this would be the greatest scandal in American history, right??

Joyce's avatar

They'd still have to say it: legalese. Until the release of the email that explicitly states it, or the photos/video that show it.

Robert Eckert's avatar

I remember the news had to do that kind of tapdancing about Nixon until the "smoking gun" tape came out.

Yo-Yo Ma boycotts Kennedy Center, Trump forgets his winkie problems long enough to freak out. Old MAGA can take the stage to demonstrate their cherished Duncan Yo-Yo skills. MAGA’d rather watch them walk the dog than listen to the previously unknown cello.

George in Atlanta's avatar

Ma has repeatedly shown himself to be a class act. He don't play that shit.

Leslie Goodman-Malamuth's avatar

Child prodigy Yo-Yo Ma played for JFK at the White House. He received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2011, played “Amazing Grace” at the Biden inauguration. Fuck Trump with a dry corncob.

Betsy L's avatar

Didn't he play at Pres. Obama's first inauguration? I remember a scandal when it came out that he'd been "lip-syncing" with his cello because it was too cold outside for him to play in tune.

Leslie Goodman-Malamuth's avatar

Yo-Yo Ma played “Amazing Grace” at the Biden inauguration, and has grooved with Obama many times, but I couldn’t find that reference. I grew up with TV lip-synching, so I don’t care what the performers did to weather the frigid Obama inauguration. The rosy cheeks of Seeger and Springsteen were as bracing as the music. 🎶

Elizabeth George's avatar

Yo Yo Ma is a class act. I once spent 20 minutes talking to him on an airplane, and I’ve seen him perform many times with Seattle Symphony. What a generous and self-effacing gentleman he is.

Very satisfactory. Let’s let him hang himself…not if he hangs you first, Jeffrey!

Leslie Goodman-Malamuth's avatar

Two slashes across the throat and a broken hyoid bone later, Epstein expired. “Just hanging around,” read his last note from Rikers to Michael Wolff.

Douglas Paul Truhlar's avatar

Now that’s what I call ’gallows humor’ defined.

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

Interesting how Wolf implicated himself!

George in Atlanta's avatar

Wolfe's kind of a dirt ball. He kept some rough company.

Leslie Goodman-Malamuth's avatar

Steve Bannon keeps him posted. “Wolff’s not as dodgy as he was in magazines. All those books, the gorgeous Amagansett podcasts add gravitas,” I said. My husband snorted.

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

Who's to say Wolff wasn't playing Trump and Epstein off against each other to feel important? He strikes me as a very small man, a third-rate journalist and scab biographer, who latches onto power and celebrity like a tick.

Charles Austin's avatar

A perfect description. He's a fucking cockroach 🪳

Leslie Goodman-Malamuth's avatar

After months of daily exposure, I’m now impressed with Michael Wolff. Flashy and louche as a magazine writer, as a prolific author he’s measured and deliberate. His problematic sources trust him; people are dying to be listened to, even when negative copy results.

Wolff’s longterm devotion to getting this incredible story inspires me despite Epstein’s repellence. Illicit sex was going to happen whether Wolff was there or not. Even the bloodless trafficker was disgusted by Trump’s emotional manipulations in pursuit of adult sex. “Donald has no moral compass,” he told Wolff.

Observing a five-year-old on LSD, given by her mother, “That story was gold,” Joan Didion told her nephew Griffin Dunne in his documentary, “The Center Cannot Hold.” The piece on hippies in Haight-Ashbury I studied at J-school a half-century ago involved a tinier time requirement than Wolff’s, less moral repulsion than pedophilia. Didion sat, watched something disturbing, only commenting later, on paper.

arne link's avatar

He's almost as sleazy as the people he was interviewing. I wonder if he ever got a lap dance.

Leslie Goodman-Malamuth's avatar

Wolff shows remarkable sexual circumspection on air despite his years of immersion in the foulest of rivers. He clears his throat at Joanna Coles’ more provocative remarks. Lap dances from strangers were part of his flashy past, not his obviously happy and beautifully curated life today.

When he asks his wife about some feminine mystery—why do MAGA women wear long hair, short skirts, and boots when it’s not winter?—Victoria stops deadheading flowers and replies with acuity. He is respectfully appreciative. It’s the real thing. But what do I know, like Michael I’m also on my second marriage, and mine’s only lasted forty years so far.
