I’m sure several million of our taxpayer dollars got “blowed up real good” along with Elon’s surrogate penis

Indirect tax dollars. WE are NOT paying for Starship Development. No, we have our own overpriced heavy lifter launch vehicles. It's nicknamed the "Senate Launch System." Elmo is ploughing his SpaceX profits into Starship development. Technically, its his own money.

There’s no possible customer other than the U.S. taxpayer for his Mars heavy lift development so yes, you’re technically correct but for all intents and purposes, so am I

Sure do. Blew up real good. Just like Donny’s foreign policy--except less lethal and more scripted.

Speaking of Canadians. And I agree with Edgar, that Native guy should have gotten the academy award for dances with wolves. https://youtu.be/F6FwSb7zd6M?si=bNE86COmabP4nX2W

I loved that sketch.

SCTV was superior to Saturday Night Live in my opinion.

in that it was frequently funny - SNL is so ... lame

One of the things about that funniness is that SCTV also didn't seem to be mean-spirited like SNL would be. There were times that SNL really, really went cruel.

Still does. I peek at Weekend Update now and then. Their humor has devolved to racist and sexist jokes.

Jeff, Im sorry. I didnt have it today to cover any political news. Went on the interview train yesterday, and after 4 interviews (Im a DevOps / InfoSec/ Terraform / Ansible / Automation Engineer ), but Fuck my life if they didnt turn me the fuck down again after a 4 interview run (4th usually means culture fit, and I mold into every goddamned culture there is....53yo, Trans Woman Druid Progressive). But I guess not.

So Wrote a mixed prose to bitch about it. Enjoy.

Wendy, I know the pain you feel as a job seeker. I went through it myself. Your interviewer is intimidated by your knowledge, education, experience and skills. You stated what I've always said about myself is that "I can forget more than they ever learned". Don't let the bastards grind you down. Your writing is terrific and your wit is biting, like Jeff's. Today we got comic relief in watching Elmo's rocket get all blowed up. Maybe he used ketamine instead of jet fuel. Couldn't have happened to a nicer nazi.

Wendy, I've experienced that too. Apparently I was too old (60 and over.) But we love you. I only worked as a crossing guard after I turned 60, and actually, it was a lot of fun.

High tech recruiting has regressed back to turn of the century (not) hiring. We called it back then, "Looking for Jeezus." If you walked on water, you're hired. Anything less than that, was thank you, you're not what we're looking for. Why companies are wasting their time & resources for this bizarre practice I don't know. Maybe they're waiting for the right (cheap) contracts with overseas engineering firms, putting all those state educated drones to work.

Oh yes! Thank you for the SCTV shout-out, Jeff. What a classic program, and sorely missed.

This is probably beneath me, but I confess to laughing every time one of the Space Nazi's rockets explodes. To quote Count Floyd, "Thees one is really scary, and I'm not keeding thees time!" Count Floyd was, I believe, referring to that great horror classic "Blood-Sucking Monkeys from West Mifflin, Pennsylvania," but the line has numerous applications....

Inside joke about LBJ's crony Billy Sol Estes. Loved it, and Catherine O'Hara's Meryl Streep indeed blew up good. For me, the finest hour ever was a highly-overmedicated Miss Lola Heatherton's soulful rendition of the Carly Simon-esque "You're All Just Parasites Draining Me of Love". She was brrrrring, trying to get some blood into her numb lips...and then, overwhelmed, she started to name names: "I'm talking to YOU, Mr. Guy Caballero!"

It was as funny as Philomena Cunk trapping some boffin in "Cunk's Fork" where she asks some unanswerable historical question and then doubles down with a second one...those big blue eyes flickering like a dying light bulb as the boffin does the hard work of explaining the obvious to England's leading philologist.
