🥇🥇🥇Jeff was recognized by Frank Bruni 🥇🥇🥇in "For the Love of Senences" feature.

Regarding the gubernatorial race in North Carolina, Jeff wrote: “Sorry, Republicans, it looks like you’re going to be forced to carry Mark Robinson to term — even if doing so endangers the life of your party.” (nominated by Linda Edmundson, Cranston, R.I.)

Jeff Tiedrich's avatar

I saw that, and now I'm going to be insufferable to be around for at least three days

Susan Niemann's avatar

Revel in it...you are so deserving. 💙

Kathleen Weber's avatar

Do you plan to be insufferable around Ms Spouse? if so, how much suffering will she dish out? I suggest practicing your Oscar acceptance speech in the bathroom with the door locked. ;-)

Susan P Thatcher's avatar

Yeah, but you're fun when insufferable.

Kimmy's avatar

Agreed, this could be an entertaining insufferable to be around 😂

Deb's avatar

Jeff should sell T-Shirts! An outline of his head (with all his hair) and the words "Insufferably entertaining". Glen might have a stroke, but I'd buy one!🤣

A.J. Madison's avatar

If not t-shirts, at least hats. I want to be able to say, "I am entitled to Jeff Tiedrich's Opinion Club. Join us, we have hats."

Kathleen Weber's avatar

Another good t-shirt would be "Jeff Tiedrich Internet Loudmouth," which is his own self-description on X.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

That is why we love him, he speaks truth to power.

bruce somers's avatar

Hoping you have some venom left for Clay Higgins this weekend.

Joanne Filipo's avatar

😂😂😂 go for it. You deserve it.

Nightmaher's avatar

Yeah but “Glen” will be having a shit fit!! 🤪

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

That Glen guy is a pretentious asshole.

Kathleen Weber's avatar

That is a natural fact!!!

Susan Niemann's avatar

LOL. I need to check on Glen... he's likely pretty lonely. 😂

I have the feeling Mrs Spouse can hold her own lol

As if you need our permission, go ahead and enjoy your new found fame.

Rebecca Elliott's avatar

You might be shocked at how much insufferability I can actually suffer quite nicely...HAVE AT IT!

Kaye Stone's avatar

Mrs. Spouse knew you before you were famous. I hope she is very humble and grateful for your continued presence in her life. 😉😁

HI2thDoc's avatar

Is that a Star Trek TOS reference? Friday's Child?

Damn, I always liked reading that part of Frank Bruni columns. Unfortunately, unsubscribed from NYT 😕

Vickie Berry's avatar

Did everyone see at the bottom of the Bruni’s piece that there’s a link to vote for your favorite. Put my vote in!

Kathleen Weber's avatar

Actually, I think that's a link to nominate candidates for next week's feature.

To nominate favorite bits of recent writing from The Times or other publications to be mentioned in “For the Love of Sentences,” please email me mailto:bruni-newsletter@nytimes.com?subject=For%20the%20Love%20of%20Sentences and include your name and place of residence.

That’s correct. I understood that.

Eileen's avatar

Bravo! It’s a zinger! Well deserved.

Betsy's avatar

Yesterday I had a court hearing in Yellville, Arkansas, a little burg nestled in the rolling hills of north Arkansas. Very pretty. Very backward. While waiting with other lawyers, the election came up and the lawyers, caseworkers and CASA volunteers were ALL FOR TRUMP. It just baffles me how anyone doesn't see through the grift. How anyone could want a president who so obviously doesn't know shit from shinola.

One lawyer said something about how John Boozman is worthless (Arkansas Senator who is more old-school republican) but Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley and Tom Cotton were all wonderful - I mean, how can any educated human being admire those traitorous hypocritical scumbags? It's mind boggling.

Rick A.'s avatar

Mind boggling yes, but also country destroying. People are delusional and insane and so happy with it. I am very bearish on the future of the USA. When you cannot see what is objectively and clearly truth, we are done.

markwilson67's avatar

They hate the same people.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Yeah, I was gonna ask, are all those folks you mentioned racist fucks?

Betsy's avatar

I guess maybe but I’m sure none of them think they are. It is just so weird like they live in an alternate universe.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Of course they don't think they are. But if you support trump, it's in you somewhere whether you acknowledge it or not. "They're eating the cats. They're eating the dogs." WTF is more overtly racist than that?

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

They really do, up is down and everything is backward of actual reality.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Linda Weide's avatar

I guess they are not really educated and either these universities are giving degrees for the person paying them enough, or they are missing some lessons on how to be a real human being instead of just a concept of a human being.

CAM from 🇨🇦's avatar

If they did go to university perhaps they attended “Last Chance University”.

Sara Toye's avatar

CaroleAnn, possibly Trump U before it, um, closed its doors?

CAM from 🇨🇦's avatar

Perhaps, but Canada used to have a “Last Chance U” and I can assure you that it wasn’t trump u. Trump couldn’t find Canada on a map before he became pres, and then he found out about NAFTA and 🇨🇦 became his punching bag;

things deteriorated further during his tenure.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Besides all his other personality pathologies, he's also HUGELY ignorant. Couldn't pronounce Yosemite, or Tanzania, made up a country "Nambia,"

is so ensconced in his narcissism that he has little curiosity beyond his own self image and greed. An embarrassment to America when he was in office. He makes W Bush look like an intellectual, and that's hard to do.

I love that phrase “he doesn’t know shit from shingle”. Haven’t heard that for a while and it’s cracking me up. I was born and lived the first 5 years of my life in a podunk backasswards little town in Arkansas. Thank god my parents got us out of there!

I agree. Mind boggling. I don't get it. Also, I agree about three of the worst senators ever! There sure are a lot of dumb folks out there. I can't believe they got elected in the first place.

Susan Niemann's avatar

To think the Rudy Colludy was once "Americas Mayor" Now he's America's Drunk Uncle. That trash like Alex Jones and Rudy...and others...the fact that there are dumbasses who have supported these people speaks volumes to the low level of intelligence in America. And Jared... I can hear the chain saw starting to be tuned up. Whatta schmuck. #TGIF you very cool people!

Charles Austin's avatar

Jared is up to his fucking eyeballs in all this shit. I so much want that frat boy asshole to find out!!😡😡😡

Susan Niemann's avatar

I agree...an arrogant little prick. UGH.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Hannah's avatar

He also wants to develop a beautiful strip of land in Albania.

I read about the Gaza thing. Doesn't matter that people would be displaced.

Robert Eckert's avatar

Displaced underground, I think he intends

funnyhaha's avatar

There's no question in my mind that the Saudis already got what they wanted of our secrets, and the $2B was the price. They probably all thought they were being subtle and clever to pay it to Jared instead of directly to Fuckface von Clownstick. The "fees" are likely kicked back.

Douglas Paul Truhlar's avatar

That is what I say you know dona chump is in there grubbing around for more and more, it’s never enough.

Susan P Thatcher's avatar

I'm surprised we haven't heard about a tug of war between them over the money.

Douglas Paul Truhlar's avatar

No, law man cometh. Not a President no immunity no matter what. Right SCOTUS? Oh they don’t answer on weekends.

Bill Lawrence's avatar

The Saudis aren't investing in Jared because they expect to make money. They are investing in him...and Ivanka...because they want to influence Trump and stay on his good side in case America is stupid enough to put him back in office.

bruce somers's avatar

That, and Trump is still pulling the strings in the House of Representatives now.

Douglas Paul Truhlar's avatar

Right you are call SCOTUS they are straight shooters?

Susan P Thatcher's avatar

Or it's pay for services already rendered

Hannah's avatar

It wasn't an investment, it was payment.

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

Bone saws are fairly quiet Susan, but firing up a chain saw would be pretty terrifying if conscious!

Hey Jeff: I figured out why that watch is so expensive. It goes “Coup Coup” on the hour.

SwitchBug's avatar

Don’t feed your kids. Get a trump watch instead.

bruce somers's avatar

I had a friend yesterday posting about JD lying about the price of eggs, all the MAGAs jumped in about the huge tragedy it is to pay 40 cents for an egg,BIDENFLATION!!! (it's 3 percent now) GAS PRICES!!(3 years ago) BIRD FLU!! (last year),the MAGAs went on and on,heads so buried in the sand they missed the whole point of the post,(and always do),JD AND TRUMP LIE ABOUT EVERYTHING TO FLEECE YOU MORONS!!! Maybe if you MAGA morons would stop spending money on red hats,homo-erotic NFTs,swag and the Kool-Aid you could stop whining about FEEDING YOUR GODDAMN FAMILY A FUCKING 40 CENT EGG!!!

Teri's avatar

Eggs historically are one of the most nutritional powerhouses for protein etc. Divide $2.99 by 12 equals $0.25 PER WHOLE EGG. Everything's expensive when you don't have a high school degree, work at a minimum wage job, but drive a new FordF150 lifted pick up. Forget the gas -- the insurance would be a killer! Good luck when you need a new tire for your truck on $7.25 per hour!

bruce somers's avatar

I used 40 cents because my Connecticut friends were whining about paying $4 to $6 for a dozen eggs, but they were even lying about that,I screen-shot 4 of them the Walmart price for a dozen eggs,$3.62 yesterday...I got no response...cognitive dissonance, after arguing with someone for about an I asked 'Seriously?? Is the price of eggs a vote-determinative issue for you?? So you'll vote for misogynistic bigots and grifters instead? JFC!!'

bruce somers's avatar

Nevermind the price gouging and record corporate profits on these consumer goods,by the 4 monopolies that control every major industry.

Teri's avatar

People can save lots of $$ on grocery/household items if they quit shopping at Whole Foods, the various Vons/Tom Thumb/Safeway IG chains. In CA we have WINCO, employee- owned, about 1/2 of Safeway prices. Warehouse -like, 1/10th the size of Costco. Grocery Outlet, 1/2 to 1/3 of Safeway. Buy quality store brands. Stock up on sale items, etc.

Linda Weide's avatar

Everything's expensive when you spent your hard earned money on Trump paraphernalia instead of eggs, and things you might actually need. Hope the spouse has their own income.

kdsherpa's avatar

Can't help it -- but LOL!

HI2thDoc's avatar

All you said and they vote conservative. Just 'cuz 'Murica. Yeah! Kick Ass! FJB!

Teri's avatar

In Calif we've had at least (?) bird flu incidents in the last 5 years. I wonder if these maga's whining over egg prices are buying containers of shell less eggs? It's $9.00 for a plastic container of egg WHITES. Stores sell whole eggs, pre- cracked for ???. It's not that hard to crack your own eggs OR use only the white parts and toss the yolk.

bruce somers's avatar

Bird flu has been an issue everywhere, but here's the thing, whether it's chickens, cows, pigs,

etc, when a big monopoly has bought out all the small farms, and has centralized everything in huge locations, with millions and millions of animals in close proximity,I imagine that would be ripe conditions for disease to spread.

Teri's avatar

Bruce, after posting yesterday re 4-5 bird flu incidents in at least Calif last 5 years, I saw an article that cows are getting avian flu! Somewhere in U.S. IIRC.

bruce somers's avatar

Last I heard it was one cow...OMG IT'S DEFINITELY THE END TIMES!!!

Teri's avatar

Bruce, thx. I do not recall that important fact! Tfs

Douglas Paul Truhlar's avatar

That sounds awful geeses people don’t crack eggs anymore hell you could join the Russian army, be a general on the front lines and get paid one day later you’re dead though.

Teri's avatar

*at least 3, 4 or 5

Hannah's avatar

The very reason I am not on any social media. Who needs that shit.

Douglas Paul Truhlar's avatar

Great post totally correct Bruce.

Teri's avatar

Kathleen Weber's avatar

For the low, low price of four payments of $133—and then take your kids to the food bank...

Linda Weide's avatar

Actually, had my daughter guess the high end price after I told her the low one. She started with $5,000. I had her guess again and she first commented on how crazy that was, and then guessed $10,000. She was already so incensed by the over $5000 as the high end that it almost did not outrage her more, but it did, when I said, $100,000. Too bad the people who vote for Trump do not have the sense of my 19-year-old daughter.

T L Mills's avatar

The price on that disgusting piece-of-trash watch is actually aimed at getting foreign money--much like Trump's hugely overpriced apartments at Trump Tower that were essentially money laundering operations...well so is this.

kdsherpa's avatar

Oh..... THAT's what it is. HOW HORRIBLE CAN ONE MAN BE???!

SPW's avatar

How deep is the pit of Hell? You’ve got your answer. No one knows.

arne link's avatar

It's all about money laundering. That is true. God, how I would love to see him do the perp walk. The time he walked into the courtroom and the bailiff let the door fall in his face was awesome. I treasure that visual from time to time.

Beth Moss Mahar's avatar

Oh yeah, I guess you're right. I should have realized that right off the bat.

Hannah's avatar

My thought exactly.

Steve in SoCal's avatar

The description for the $100k model says, ". . .is designed to counteract the effects of gravity"

Indeed, as your wallet will be so much lighter.

Beth Moss Mahar's avatar

LOL, I feel for her. My husband makes me guess like that all the time. I always tell him I don't want to guess, just tell me FFS! So I start out the guessing at what I think is extremely excessive. Here, I probably would have started at 10K. I hope we find out if he sells any at the 100k price.

funnyhaha's avatar

He will sell them all. It's not a watch, it's money laundering. You buy the cheap piece of crap for $100K, he maybe eventually sends you something in the mail (but probably not), he pockets your cash and now he owes you something. You like a nice schematic of our base in Okinawa? How about the plans for our next top-secret submarine? A list of our spies in Asia? We can do that.

Linda Weide's avatar

Normally I don't do that, but she has several online clothing shops that are taking way too much of her mental time while she is visiting us, and so, I not only suggest that she do some other things.

arne link's avatar

he will, because money laundering for criminals.

Teri's avatar

Are these watches counterfeit Rolexes someone sold Jr. from his 1975 van under a fwy bridge? What's the BRAND NAME of said $100k watches? They come with certificates of authenticity (with all the words correctly spelled, right? Is it on maga or RNC letterhead, along with a plea for separate donations?

kdsherpa's avatar

Better yet: refinance your house! Mortgage rates are good right now.

Rick Calegari's avatar

Or pay for your trailer space. As long as these MAGA dimwits keep falling for this shit, shyster Donnie will keep that pipeline open of worthless crappy merchandise coming in from China.

Eileen's avatar

Yep. Absolutely delusional.

Bonnie Boyce's avatar

Guliani destroyed himself. I don’t know if it was midlife crisis or degenerative brain diseases, but “America’s Mayor” sure decided to go out on a low note. To think I used to trust and respect this guy! Eye roll

Bonnie Boyce's avatar

Of course, if we’ve learned only ONE thing in the internet age, it’s this: there is FAR better money in being a self promoting asshole than there is in being principled leader .

bruce somers's avatar

bruce somers's avatar

Charles Austin's avatar

Maybe he can sell cars for Bernie Moreno.

MC's avatar

He can sell mini pillows for all the white babies on their wish list

funnyhaha's avatar

That's why they do it. The chances that they'll ever pay for their misdeeds are quite low. The worst they might get is a summary judgment that they can appeal over and over and over until their adversary runs out of money or time and settles for a fraction of what was already a fraction of what it should have been. If you have no soul and no moral code whatsoever, why wouldn't you grind the little people into the dirt for your own benefit?

kdsherpa's avatar

(before they're found out?)

DeSatan will have his paws out for all the FEMA money but hey, socialism bad. I would call the climate havoc on Florida "Gore's revenge" but Al Gore isn't vengeful. He's a Democrat who tried to steer us in the right direction before it came to this. Florida fucked that and us all.

Yes. At Florida’s request. It was a court stacked with conservatives by his dad.

No. Florida Supreme Court called for a statewide recount. The federal Supreme Court had no constitutional basis for interfering with that.

That said, it was the state of Florida as a whole which screwed up their voting procedures in the first place to make the whole nightmare necessary.

I'm in central KY and we are being fucking hammered by the winds and rain from the hurricane. So far I've had to go out and retrieve a porch-bed mattress (40 pounds when dry, but soaked so it was more like 60) because the wind flipped it up against the window, several pillows, a plant in a heavy pot that blew off the porch, and wall decorations that pulled loose and were about to come through the window.

Tell me again, mr resident sir, how there's no climate change?

Oh, and while you're at it, can you explain how subtracting land makes more land? I'll wait.
