and of course five minutes after I published this post, I found something that would have been great to include.

"Filipino fast food chain Jollibee was seen serving free food to people that have been affected by the LA wildfires. Love this."

And for some context, here in Hawaii we have around 23,000 undocumented Filipinos who are hard working family oriented people. They send money back to their families in the Philippines to help support them. If they are deported it will hurt them, hurt Hawaii and hurt their families. They are not criminals, they add to the richness of Hawaiiʻs culture.

I realize this is anecdotal, but here goes. I used to be second in command of a catering company that was based at a hotel. One of the guys in the hotel's accounting department was Filipino, and his wife worked in the housekeeping department. They both sent as much money as they could back to their family in the Philippines. The guy picked up extra money with us doing catering gigs after hours, and he was a total delight to be around. VERY hard worker, completely reliable, always available even at the last minute. I threw him all the hours I could. Wish I'd had a dozen like him. All those who come to our country with the same type of ethic should be welcomed!

My regular handyman José is undocumented, I got connected with him bc his undocumented Mom was my housekeeper for months. She returned to Mexico because her father was very ill, so before she left, she introduced me to her 30 yr old son & told me if I needed help with anything, to call him.

He is so nice & he works his ass off. His regular job is home construction, he also has evening & weekend work caring for a ranchers horses, gentling young horses to saddle, & then squeezes in random handyman jobs.

He has 2 children who were born here & I don’t know if his ex-wife is a US citizen or not, I didn’t ask him. He posts videos of him taking his 2 boys to do fun things when he has them on the weekends. That would be really awful for those boys to be deprived of their very loving father. I hope it doesn’t happen.

My wager is that the worst garbage at the top of the heap of cabinet nominees -- Hegseth, Kash Patel, Tulsi Gabbard -- won't get confirmed but Democrats will do their famously self-defeating "meet them halfway" thing and approve RFK Jr. and the rest of the trash.

Yes!!! We’ve allowed our elected Democrats to get away with caving in to Rethuglicons, to not delivering on things they’ve promised during campaigns, & with not getting in front of cameras to debunk the lies from Rs nearly enough as they should.

When they show themselves to be cowards, wimpy, etc then we should no longer donate to their campaigns, nor vote for them. I’m really angry

Based on the way the 1st confirmation is playing out Kennedy is a shoo in. What a bunch of 2-faced cowards who often used their precious 7 minutes to hold his feet to the fire they “thank you for your service” then proceeded to grandstand and talked about Jesus. Total waste of time (and taxpayer money). This country is in deep doo. Is there no way to stop this train wreck? Innocent and good people are going to die.

Prediction: When Donnie Disaster is done, Greenland's gonna have a new name— Puerto Rico del Norte. Or maybe he'll call them "Puerto Rico Caliente" and "Puerto Rico Frío." Why not? They are both islands and they both belong to him. And the folks who lived there are NOT white.

The took over the communications media and flooded it with lowbrow thinking racist sexist divisionary screed as long as I can remember of my adult life. Especially in radio land of the Bible belt. Democrats need to prioritze communications and bomb the land with creative ravings, flash mobbing demonstrations, and constant muckraking such as these Constantly. Unfortunately the media machine is shutting down its avenues right at the time Dems need to rise to the occasion by the criminals who are now taking over the country because dumb sheep were hypnotized by evil thoughts and lies.

By not paying attention to what was really important. GOP are turtles. Took them 50 years to get Roe vs Wade overturned. They patiently plotted their course. Dems are sprinters. We don't sit back and plot for decades. We want immediate results and we are not a cohesive group like the GOP. We had several times when we could have put laws in place that felons couldn't run, do something about the Electoral College, etc. We had a naive, it'll never happen attitude. And it did happen and here we are. If we ever get control of the government and don't pass every law to prevent this from happening again, then we don't deserve our place in government.

Yes, who knew our government would turn into a protection racket run by a mob Boss who can run his criminal organization and steal the treasury right out in the open and no law in the land can stop him. Ok. Where's that Jewish space laser zapper when you really need it.

Please read historian Heather Cox Richardson's Substack Letters from an American on Substack and other places. She will you this sh%$t is nothing new for the US. We are just having to live through another round of attempts of ultra I wealthy MAGA pseudo religious types to take over. Unclear to me how people managed to get things back under the kind of control we are looking for especially as this time it seems so much more pervasive as we have to live with (hopefully through) it. Other Substack commentators who knows "our" history are also sensibly informative. Just look around.

Musk is emotionally frozen at the age of 9 and he views the world (plus Mars) as his personal Pee Wee's Playhouse. Despite his billions, he's no match against adults and can be slapped down by the likes of Count Scrofula. When he stupidly posted on X that looting was legitimate in CA under Newsom, the Governor shot back (paraphrase) "Why are you promoting looting by spreading this lie? Do something helpful." So out come the party favors in Tesla Tonka-Toy Trucks.

Altho I must admit I am a little skeptical of this feud. Bannon is the guy who authored the "flood the zone with shit" method of distracting the idiotic news organizations with shiny garbage while the real evil shit went down behind the scenes. A "feud" with Apartheid Clyde would certainly fall into the "shiny garbage" category.
