Vivek Ramalamadingdong has nerve calling the Dems juvenile considering Trump’s level of insults which he tries to disguise as political discourse.

Betsy's avatar

Seriously, Trump calls her a "bum" and "lyin' Kamala" (mispronouncing her name), etc. etc. and you're going to admonish us for calling him "weird"? Vivek's MOM is weird! so there!

Teri's avatar

Turd at MN rally tried to say "Kamala"-- it came out 100 percent unintelligible. Her husband Doug Emhoff remarked on it "it's ok you can't remember her name. Soon you can call her Madam President" with a kind gentle smile. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

PJ Schuster's avatar

That was the most perfect retort by 2nd Gentleman Doug Emhoff 🔥🔥

He is a loving husband to her & he has her back.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Somebody on Substack pointed out that Vance has a son named Vivek, which makes him Vivek Vance. I Love Lucy redux!

A.J. Madison's avatar

The cognitive dissonance in Juvie Delinquent Vance is very strong. He hates immigrants and the children citizens born here, yet what did he do? Marry the child of immigrants, who was born in San Diego. He loves his wife, just hates everyone who isn't her, apparently. So yes, the mother of his child picked a traditional name from her heritage. Republicans, thy name is hypocrisy, especially and including their racism & hate.

HI2thDoc's avatar

Maybe JD or whatever his name was at the time didn't watch old TV shows

RV maxima's avatar

Considering how cowardly Vance defended( NOT) his wife...sure, she's not white but she is a good mom". Honestly, is he defending "the help" or what? As if women didn't have enough reasons to despise this guy...please, sir can we have another?

HI2thDoc's avatar

Didja see where Jeff said about Vance, if you can't even defend your wife to your own supporters, you're on the wrong fucking side

bruce somers's avatar

The incels have spoken.

Susan Burgess's avatar

Hahaha, only a democrat would say “so there!” I mean that in a good way.

Susan Burgess's avatar

Isn’t that how people used to argue? Winning wasn’t the point. Learning from each other’s point of view was the reason to debate.

bruce somers's avatar

I heard RGB used to share meals and drinks with Scalia, can you imagine?? Respect and civility were required, you don't earn a seat at the table.

Richard Von Busack's avatar

Oh, do blow it out your wealthy Brahmin ass, Viv. Why don’t compose a blistering battle rap song about it, as only a master MC like yourself can?

Seriously, happy times for a change. I think it’s going to be a landslide, but right now what I’m waiting for is Taylor Swift to speak up

Let me sum up's avatar

And unlike 2016, having been burned, Ds are excited AND will show up, not taking anything 4 granted.

Will the MSM be jaws agape, saying "experts weren't sure Americans were ready for a woman?" Yes they, will and I can't fucking wait.

"How 200 million dollars is a bad thing for Harris"

PJ Schuster's avatar

Sure looks like a NYT headline, but I wouldn’t know for sure since I cancelled my subscription months ago. 😉

Taylor Swift and her cat!

bruce somers's avatar

Hey JD!! We need more cats and dogs, and less Republicans to 'Make America Great Again'

Teri's avatar

"Childless Cat Ladies for Harris" t shirts & merch appeared on X. Soon joined by "Childless Dog Ladies for Harris" t's & merch. Keep runnin' your mouth JD! 😻 🐈‍⬛

Teri's avatar

THREE CATS!!! She LOVES her cats big-time. Sometimes they travel with her (not overseas, of course).

Mindy OkayIloveyoubyebye's avatar

I read her cats travel with her everywhere but stay in a luxurious suite on her plane. Of course, that could be a lie. I don't remember where I read it, but I remember it was a sketchy gossip site.

Rusalka's avatar

Can’t understand why she’s waiting so long to show her support. It’s much needed now. Is she putting career over freedom?

Dee Whitman's avatar

I think she's being strategic. If she makes her endorsement close to the election, then her fans won't have time to forget; there won't be enough time for the excitement to evaporate.

She endorsed Biden-Harris on 10-7-2020 -- three weeks and six days before the election.

Rusalka's avatar

Voter registration is more complex now since 2020 thanks to the GOP. The sooner her followers register the easier I can breathe. Swift has an enormous following and we need those votes. I understand what you said about waiting but how do we know that her followers are in sync?

linda's avatar

She asked Swifties to be sure to register a while ago. 350,000 registered according to vote.org

Doc Blase''s avatar

Here are the same-day registration states:

California

Colorado

Connecticut

Hawaii

Idaho

Illinois

Iowa

Maine

Maryland

Michigan

Minnesota

Montana

Nevada

New Hampshire

New Mexico

Utah

Vermont

Virginia

Washington

Washington D.C.

Wisconsin

Wyoming

Special case:

North Dakota does not require people to register to vote — just show up with “acceptable identification.”

Chet Brandt's avatar

The Retrumplicans are already planning NOT TO CERTIFY any unfavorable election results.

Teri's avatar

I've seen rumors of voter registration tables being planned at each of her US concerts. Nothing official is coming from Tay or her team. She's wrapping up her overseas tour soon. She has a 6-8 week break, then tours the US till Dec.

Old Man's avatar

Sadly, if Taylor endorses this week, it will be forgotten by next week.

May I encourage you to look at ActBlue's website -- esp. the pages where you can donate to reps. and senators facing tight races? (U.S. Senate Blue in '24; U.S. House Blue in '24)

President Harris (feels GREAT to type that) will be seriously hampered if she doesn't have Dem majorities in both chambers. Thanks!

Teri's avatar

There's Al Franken's Midwest Values PAC. Donate to that monthly. First PAC donation. They max'd out on donating to Cancun Ted's Dem challenger, Colin Allred.

https://www.midwestvaluespac.org

Altamama2's avatar

You're in good company there!

Teri's avatar

Bravo!! Every donation, $3, $10 whatever is helpful

PJ Schuster's avatar

Yes, every donation is super important, even the $2 - $5 ones. I only just learned during the 2022 elections that the DNC, DSCC use the NUMBER of donations that a candidate gets, not the total raised, as a benchmark for whether they will use their war chest to assist a candidate or not. The number of individual donations tells them whether that candidate has broad grassroots support or not. So a recurring donation of $5 -$10/mo is more helpful to the candidate than 1 single donation of $50.

Of course, if you can afford to give $100 once & then set up a recurring $5/mo, that’s great too.

When I was on the Comics For Kamala call I saw many, many donations that were $5 & $7.

It did my heart so happy to see that so many people wanted to help in the amount they could afford.

Sectional predator JD Vance told Trey Gowdy that Democrats were making a big deal of the "childless cat ladies" issue because they have no agenda. 🙄 He's certainly learned the projection lesson well. Someone needs to start a 'Boomers for Harris' Zoom call. That would really bust a few arteries.

FTrump And FPutin Too's avatar

bruce somers's avatar

Projection indeed, and they're losing the culture war they started too.

Susan Niemann's avatar

They sure have lost the culture war. Leave us alone! Stop telling people what to do! 🤬

Marie Martin's avatar

Agree. I’m hoping for a Grandmas over 65 zoom, thinking the more demographic segments that are featured will cause more people to belong and get on board. It ceases to be “something out there”, to “I belong”.

Feeling this bc I joined a Women Weightlifters Over 70 fb page. It was brand new at the end of May. By mid July they’ve got over 30,000 members. I’m 76, been lifting 20 years, and I basically thought I was alone. The connection has energized me a lot. It’s the group energy. It’s the “I belong here” thing.

The boomers group is a great idea. I’m sick of defending the good boomers. All that gets featured are oldsters, navy gravy types. The complainers about the color of the sky group. Let’s change that.

Who does one get in touch with to make these ideas happen?

Dee Whitman's avatar

Maybe reach out to your local Dem chapter? Or to Shannon Watts on not-twitter, though she's probably hard to reach, or via her group's website (Moms Demand Action). Or someone at kamalaharris dot com.

Very cool that you and so many others in our age group are weightlifters.

Barb Z.'s avatar

A Boomers for Harris Zoom would be "groovy", "way out", and "righteous". 👩‍🦳 I'm in❣️❣️❣️🌊🌊🌊

Nancy Potter's avatar

The golf cart parade for Harris at the Villages this weekend was a good start. It was said that instead of Charlie XCX, they were playing The Stones. (That's the Rolling Stones for you children in the audience.)

Anita Smibert's avatar

I would start the ball rolling, but as a Canadian, I have to cheer from the sidelines. Hopefully someone who sees this will get it rockin'.

Dee Whitman's avatar

So first he says, "We are effectively run in this country, via the Democrats, via our corporate oligarchs, by bunch of childless cat ladies" -- which implies the existence of an agenda ("we are run by them"), and now he's saying that Dems have no agenda?

1. King of flip-floppers.

2. King of morons who refuse to acknowledge that facts will soon be spread across the internet to refute that statement. I think it's safe to assume that KH will continue initiatives begun by, or proposed by, the JBKH admin: SC reform, codification of voting rights, codification of the right to abortion, less-unfair taxation, permanent extension of the child tax credit (from the party that allegedly doesn't care about families), action on the climate crisis, penalties for price-gouging landlords, other initiatives to help people who are burdened by excessive rent, and more.

bruce somers's avatar

He left out 'duly elected' Democrats.

Catherine's avatar

DrBDH's avatar

“Villages for Kamala” is so unexpected. Florida!

MzNicky in East Jesus, TN's avatar

And my goddess Dolly Parton. She’s famously apolitical, and coming out in support of Kamala Harris would anger a lot of her fans. But maybe she’s reached the point in her life where she can be out of fucks to give about all that. Hey, a girl can dream.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

Dolly is a very decent person. I don't think she cares anymore what everyone thinks if she thinks she's doing the right thing. She's older and wealthy. She made her mark.

MzNicky in East Jesus, TN's avatar

I think Dolly cares very much about “doing the right thing.” She hasn’t just “made her mark”; she’s spent her whole life walking the actual Christian walk, and she continues to do so, every day. She’s beholden to her many fans, because she recognizes they’re the ones who elevated her in the first place. Which is why she’s thus far wisely remained mostly apolitical all her life.

bruce somers's avatar

Ted Nugent? Kid Rock? Hulk Hogan? Lee Greenwood? Pathetic. The GOP is stuck in the past, vote BLUE for a brighter future!! 💙

Deborah Hunter's avatar

I always liked Lee Greenwood's song. Now I hear it and there's a bit of nausea.

bruce somers's avatar

I'm tired of fascists trying wrap themselves in flags(or humping them) and calling it 'patriotism'.

Dee Whitman's avatar

A reminder that Taylor's 2020 endorsement came 3 weeks and 6 days before the election 9= in early Oct.), so we'll have to wait. (Benefits of waiting: Her fans won't have time to forget or become less enthusiastic.)

Deborah Hunter's avatar

Not so sure about Taylor as far as a formal endorsement. I'm saying this because of her college frat bf, Travis Kelce. He plays in the most "macho" sport in the US where a majority of fans are men and I'm sure mostly MAGA men. His team is in Missouri. Can't be much redder and more oppressive than there these days. The owner of the Chiefs is a jerk who's very wealthy and I bet votes GOP. Doubt she wants to deal with the backlash regarding his team. Just my opinion. Gen Z needs to vote for a candidate that supports their issues, not because their teeny bopper idol endorses him/her. That's a huge problem in this country. People aren't voting for the issues or the integrity of their candidate. They are voting because someone famous told them to or everyone they know votes like that. The dumbing down of America is quite obvious these last few years.

Dee Whitman's avatar

I think you're right about TS's being leery of the backlash against her, given her bf's red-state connections and fans -- but I also think she's powerful enough to weather the backlash, and that she's savvy enough about what's at stake in this election to risk the backlash.

Like you, I lament the dumbing-down of Murkans, and the blind following of some Celebrity's endorsement -- but given that this is where we are today, let's use it to our advantage. Once President Harris is in office, she can turn her attention to initiatives to improve education (although the forces that prompt people to tune out of their own lives and over-follow others are complex and many, and can be addressed only indirectly by govt, such as increasing funding for psychotherapists in sliding-scale clinics).

Deborah Hunter's avatar

I don't think the issue is with her popularity. She is so wealthy, so famous and beloved by millions, that there would not be much backlash against her. The issue is him. He's not in the same place she is. His popularity and fame, until recently because of her, is his job. Take away the Chiefs and her, no one would know who he is. He owes what he has right now to that team and their fans. Don't think the owner wants a backlash against one of his most popular players. The team already has had to deal with Butthead Butker. There already has been some backlash against Kelce for promoting the COVID vaccine.

PJ Schuster's avatar

I don’t think Travis Kelce is very much worried about backlash among his football fans for anything his gf chooses to do. He is a good guy & promoting people to take the vaccine already put him in the bulls eye of hate from the MAGA crowd. Hell they even hated on him & her just for her showing up to his games whenever she could & having the camera divert to her for a few seconds.

While football season was over he attended her concerts & even appeared on stage with her in a brief cameo. He doesn’t worry about all those toxic “manly men” thinking or saying that he’s being emasculated by his gf. He’s the kind of man we want on our side, the kind who supports the woman in his life in whatever she chooses to do, who is not intimidated by a powerful, successful woman.

Deborah Hunter's avatar

Never liked her. But I don't like female talk shows either. I feel that women are smart, capable and they have much to offer and these shows are mindless most of the time. Her shows reminded me of some of the stuff you see on reality shows. People screaming over new cars, listening to her tell them what books to read, etc. There aren't shows geared to men like that. So I was never a fan. Then came the disastrous interview with Harry & Meghan, and recently the lying about her weight loss. I always thought she wasn't genuine. But she was beloved by millions and I do give her credit for starting a multimillion dollar empire on her talent. She was at the right place at the right time.

MAGA-ism is a giant boil on the butt of America. Let's lance this thing for good so we can get on with our lives.

Dee Whitman's avatar

We can't become complacent -- that's how we got to 2016!

Please keep in mind that MAGA will be around for at least a generation. For one thing, rage-filled reactionaries have been with us always -- the KKK, the John Birch Society ... Also keep in mind that today's ultra-wealthy, who control the right, have an unprecedented amt of wealth and influence (Fox + WSJ; not-Twitter; the Sinclair stations; etc.) under their control.

For another, today's enraged reactionaries (MAGAts) will be angrier after djt loses, and they'll become angrier as the US population becomes majority minority, which is estimated to happen in 2045.

But gradually the Olds who espouse these awful views will die off, and today's infants will grow up seeing diversity as the norm and (hopefully) benefiting from strong, helpful govt under President Harris's two terms and under the subsequent ordinary-people-centric terms of her Dem successors.

Right. A therapist I know also said if Trump begins to look weak, his followers will turn on him, as Italians turned on Mussolini when he showed weakness. The Great Father archetype as presented by Jung only attracts followers if the 'Father' looks strong and not weak. So the weaker Trump appears, the more followers he will shed...and quickly, too.

A pilonoidal cyst. That is what kept the repulsive Rush Limbaugh from the draft in the late 60's

Great thought, really grim imagery, though . . .as in ick.

Yes, WE CAN DO THIS. And I most definitely understand the assignment, too. There are certainly more of us than there are of them. I think it’s funny that the R’s have their underwear all in a twist over being called weird! Compared to some of the things they’ve called us, that’s pretty tame, in my opinion.

If we said hateful things and did hateful things from today until election day, we couldn't even come close to the awful things that have been done to this country since 1/20/17. COVID deaths, careers ruined, buddies of his sent to prison for committing crimes, families separated at the border, aiding our enemies, and the amount of hate spewed on pretty much every group in America except rich, heterosexual, Christian, white men. So as far as I'm concerned the GOP can just STFU. Bullies can NEVER take it, they can only dish it out.

You’re absolutely right. Do you think I care if their little fee-fees are hurted??? Not bloody likely - they can all, as Jeff says, go fuck all the way off to Fuckoffistan, and good riddance to them all!

Families separated at the dinner table.

Families separated at holidays, weddings … on and on.

Arguing. Anger.

That truly is a really horrid result of the drumph, maga m, qanon crap. The hate & believing in crazy nonsense has been devastating to families. I can actually only be myself & relaxed around 2 adult members of my extended family. My only living sister fell down the qanon rabbit hole & it’s heartbreaking.

I will probably never get her back to her previous self.

As a Minnesotan, we were never going to vote Trump in even before Biden stepped down, that was just a bullshit fantasy of the nutcase. And Tim Walz, being a not slick, lying politician will probably not be picked for VP, but he is a helluva speaker for our party and a truly nice and honorable human. There are so many others out there that we are hearing from that want to talk about achieving goals for the people, not the weirdos. It has truly made me hopeful and warmed my heart for our country.

Government Walz's social studies teacher background is so evident. Nerds unite!

I heard him speak on npr a while back about gun reform-he was fantastic-it was very sensible and nothing that would repel the 2nd ammendment crowd (imo). I just thought, why can't we just implement what he's saying here?!? It was nothing extreme, but totally helpful regulation, background checks type stuff. He seemed like a very nice, smart, helpful person-I was an immediate fan.

And why would KH pick a sleaze bag and not someone who’s an honorable person?

Marcie's avatar

I certainly did not mean to imply that she would not pick him.

The more I hear from him,the more I like him.

Aren’t you a happy camper now that Gov Walz was the pick??!! He was who I was rooting for, after I saw him speak on just 1-2 msnbc shows, he is absolutely perfect. I love him & I had no idea who he was 3 weeks ago. I’m from NM.

Oh ya! I have been on a family fishing trip this week at Cass Lake in Northern mn. Heard a little of the stolen valor BS, my daughter was at NYU during the Kerry election campaigning for him so is particularly annoyed. Other than that, besides the fish not biting, we are recharged. Minnesota will wait to back up Kamala, we do have a lot of trumpers, no one should forget that!
