journalistic fuckery in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s killing: the press is failing us again
now is not the time for sanewashing hatred and parroting propaganda
the worthless scribblers of the corporate-controlled press are not our friends, and they haven’t been our friends in a very long time — but that doesn’t make it any less galling to see them, in a time of crisis, pushing government propaganda and hatewashing divisive shitweasels.
yesterday morning, The Wall Street Journal tweeted out twaddle that no responsible news outlet should have published without first double-checking the shit out of it.
“Breaking: Ammunition engraved with transgender and antifascist ideology was found inside the rifle authorities believe was used in Kirk’s shooting, sources say.”
oh, sources are saying this, that the assassin’s bullets were engraved with ‘transgender ideology’? thank god the Journal is getting their information from unnamed government sources who obviously have no political agenda to push. praise the day. thank you for enlightening us and making our lives ever-more richer, Wall Street Journal.

beyond ‘just let me be who I am,’ there is no such thing as ‘transgender ideology.’ it’s a buzzphrase created by conservatives who want to ‘prove’ such hallucinatory nonsense as ‘the transgenders have an agenda and are coming for your children.’
really, Heritage Foundation? ‘they promote a radical expressive individualism in which people are free to do whatever they want’?
wait a minute, isn’t that libertarianism? the horror. what a complete fucking nightmare for the ‘don’t tread on me’ crowd to be told that other people want that same freedom.
they ‘define the truth however they wish’? I don’t know about you, but that seems to me to be exactly the world America’s Mad King wants to create for himself, where he does whatever he wants, and defines the truth as whatever he says it is.
just seeing the phrase ‘transgender ideology’ coming from anyone in this government should have raised huge red flags in the Journal newsroom. someone should have stood up and said ‘we are being spoon-fed propaganda and maybe we should think twice before publishing it.’
but beyond that, let’s have a little critical thinking here. engraved bullets? oh please. don’t piss on our heads and tell us it’s raining.
these unnamed government sources want you to believe that Charlie Kirk’s killer, someone with the marksmanship to take down a target with one bullet from 200 yards out, was sitting there in his free time, engraving manifestos onto bullets?
come on. if you were browsing though Netflix and saw this as the premise of one of their shitty thrillers — elite assassin by day, engraver by night — you would roll your eyes and scroll right the fuck past it.
oh, and guess what. none of the shit being pushed by the Journal and their mysterious sources turned out to be true.
But a senior law enforcement official with direct knowledge of the investigation cautioned that report had not been verified by A.T.F. analysts, did not match other summaries of the evidence, and might turn out to have been misread or misinterpreted.
‘did not match other summaries of the evidence’ is polite newsroom-speak for ‘it was a fucking lie.’
here’s a concept that seems to be eluding our media right now: one can both denounce and abhor political violence, and, at the same time, condemn hate-mongers.
but we’re not getting that from the worthless scribs. they’re over-correcting. the very same people who sanewashed Donny’s incoherent mouth-farts about sharks and batteries and Hannibal Lecter wants to have you for dinner are now are now sanewashing Charlie Kirk.
the question must be asked, is there a gas leak in Ezra Klein’s house? because I’m not sure there’s any other way to explain this:

Consider what Kirk said about Black women leaders and affirmative action. Assailing affirmative action “picks” Joy Reid, Michelle Obama, Ketanji Brown Jackson, and Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, Kirk said, sickeningly, “you do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken seriously” without affirmative action. “You had to steal a white person’s slot.”
if that’s the ‘right way,’ I sure as fuck would hate to see what the wrong way is.
Charlie Kirk did not deserve to be assassinated. but at the same time, he did not earn the right to be sainted.
it’s kind of ironic that yesterday was the anniversary of 9/11, because we’re seeing a lot of the cowardice displayed by the media then, being duplicated now.
During a back-and-forth with the MSNBC anchor Katy Tur on Wednesday, Mr. Dowd remarked that Mr. Kirk had been pushing hate speech, adding that “hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions.”
Rebecca Kutler, MSNBC’s president, apologized for Mr. Dowd’s remarks, calling them “inappropriate, insensitive and unacceptable.”
we saw this kind of fuckery play out over and over in the wake of the 2001 terror attacks. any on-air personality who tried to analyze if the terrorists might have had a beef against US foreign policy and imperialism was unceremoniously shown the door and had their careers end up in the shitter.
look, emotions were running high on Wednesday, and maybe Matthew Dowd could have waited 24 hours before saying what he said — but where was the lie?
for fuck’s sake, explaining why something might have happened is not the same thing as justifying it.

As I have said, the regime has fired all of the competent people, which will slow down this investigation, and I will not trust anything that is being reported.
I am also bothered by how Charlie Kirk is being turned into a romantic hero. It is tragic what happened to him, but he is not a hero. At least not to me. Clearly he is one to Trump and Vance. For me heros have to do something positive.
