First, it would be nice for someone in Dem or GOP leadership, who has a brain, to get in front of a camera and tell the truth about Donny.

"Donny, you screwed up the water system in California with a dumb order to the Corps of Engineers. This was WRONG Donny!"

"Donny, you gave the Treasury checkbook to Elon and his teenage assistants. You fired the FBI and Inspectors General who protect this country from thieves. Elon is a thief. This was WRONG Donny!"

"Donny, you are raising product prices on your MAGA followers. You think, wrongly, tht tariff money is paid by the country you are attacking. It doesn't, Donny. Tariff taxes are paid by the buyer. The MAGAs will eventually rise up and tell you this was wrong. I'm here to tell you today, this is WRONG!"

It's ironic as hell that the area dumbfuck Donnie chose to flood is a major MAGA stronghold. It's also where numb nuts lapdog Devin Nunes comes from. Having done citrus survey work in Tulare County when I worked for CA Dept. of Food and Ag., we heard about the water shortage issues these folks had to deal with. Hard to believe the ACoE went along with this stupidity and carried it out. No matter how destructive his ideas are, people are still scared shitless to stand up to his Dumbness.

I'm not so sure this wasn't an act of pure subversion. Think about it. Who gets the heat and the bad name? Not the ACoE. They're not in charge, they're just doing what they were ordered to do by their boss.

And anyone who starts to press them on it will only get the "Ask the White House why this was done." as an answer, and it's a damn good one.

I am of the same generation and would add it has never been this imperfect in my lifetime. The civil war was the collapse of a very imperfect nation. The constitution failed and hundreds of thousands died to try to put what had failed back together. And they did that imperfectly too.

Trump is constitutionally ineligible to hold the Presidency (or any other federal office), so the Presidency is vacant at present (the Supreme Court's decision that he could run was inconsistent with the text, original intent, or precedent of prior applications of the insurrection clause of the 14th amendment, so it should not be respected as a "judicial" ruling at all, but as a usurpation of political power that Article III does not grant to the courts). If a plurality of voters is content with ending the constitutional republic, then the republic is dead. Whether it can be resurrected remains to be seen. After the Senate granted dictatorial powers to Julius Caesar in 46 BC, there wasn't republican government in Rome again until 1946 AD.

It’s always been easy to get fooled. I’ve done it, too. Anytime I see an unsourced quote like this, I ask for a citation. If I get one, that’s swell, I check it out from there. If the quote poster gets huffy and/or doesn’t provide one, I unfollow. In our haste for confirmation bias, we tend to automatically repost something we think COULD be true, whether it is or not. That’s part of the reason we’re where we are now.

We’re p*ssed off, really p*ssed off. After 2 centuries, the Trumpet has undone the greatest alliance between 2 countries. How anyone this dumb is actually sitting behind the Resolute Desk making these effing decisions is f*ucking mind boggling. Yes, we’re retaliating against his rediculous call for tariffs. The real endgame is to annex Canada, drain us of all of our minerals, metals, potash and water and provide him with a northern gateway to access Greenland. Beware, when the Trumpet says anything, it’s a preview of his real intentions. So to my American family and friends, I’m sorry to have to retaliate in the only manner that we can right now. But we must as our freedom, honour and way of life depends on it.

Expand full comment
CAM from 🇨🇦's avatar

No, they may not now, but when Canada launches its tariffs in retaliation to the American ones, they’ll feel the outcome. Then the anger will set in. All you had to see at the senators hockey game last night were angry spectators booing once the American anthem was played. This is not our usual way of dealing with issues, but it was the first outburst from ordinary peeps angry that an oligarch president would dare mess with our economic wellbeing and sovereignty.

Expand full comment
Dina's avatar

It will only be the idiot cultists who will be angry because they won't be able to understand (and won't listen to) the reasoning behind Canada's actions—which, by the way, is the only next step available for your country. The majority of people who hate That Fucking Felon know what is happening and, while they may feel the pinch, will most likely blame him and not Canada.

One would hope, that is.
