Thank you Jeff.

I would be delighted if the outrageous ICE budget was completely consumed by lawsuits and the puppy-killing Secretary spent the next 10 years in civil depositions --the majority of that while serving her prison sentence along with Homan, Bovino, and the rest of the criminal elect and his Cabinet full of corrupt, incompetent sociopaths.

I want them all to pay for the illegal, immoral, and unconstitutional acts they are performing in a manner equivalent to 1930's SS --who, by the way, were also "just following orders".

They can all rot in prison.

Kim Nesvig's avatar

Our present congress rescinded funding for Big Bird, so we know they know how to rescind appropriations. Write your delegation and demand that the de-ICE America by rescinding ICE appropriations. While you’re at it, demand that they impeach Trump and his band of psychopaths.

Stranger Than Friction's avatar

Hey Chuck and Hakeem? It's important to all of us voters that you stand and fight, even if your every move does not result in such goals as impeachment of cabinet officials and others who are blatantly breaking our laws. Otherwise, you're just down on your knees, begging for everyone to get along. That isn't leadership, that's looking like FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) and cowardice.

meryl selig's avatar

Dear StF: you are right on the bullseye. Dems “leadership” is a portrait of cowardice and capitulation. They are worse than tepid. Borderline complicit

rlritt's avatar

Just because you don't hear it doesn't mean they're not doing anything. You have to dig for the info. The Democrats are a minority party so they get little publicity. Conservative media wants you to believe they are not doing anything at all to stop Trump. And its working.

Try writing to your representatives. You will get a response. Especially if want to know what they are doing. I write to my congressman all the time. And my senators.

rlritt's avatar

They are. Several Democrats have drafted and supported articles of impeachment of Trump in the past year. The media doesn't care about the Democrats or their performative acts, so one knows about it.

Ron's avatar

And by fight, we don't mean write a "strongly worded letter"... we mean actually do something.

Charles Austin's avatar

There's a budget cliff on Jan. 30. I expect the Dems to step up.

Illinois is also suing the Trump administration. Today's Chicago Sun-Times headline says, "Trump administration hit with federal lawsuit over 'occupation of Illinois and Chicago' "

https://chicago.suntimes.com/immigration/2026/01/12/illinois-chicago-sue-trump-administration-over-organized-bombardment-under-noem-bovino

I also read that Illinois Reps want to file for impeachment against Noem.

https://capitolnewsillinois.com/news/after-fatal-ice-shooting-in-minneapolis-illinois-democrats-seek-kristi-noems-impeachment/

Seems to me that Democrats are getting together on strategy to handle the Trump administration. Hampering the actions of ICE through the courts is a great idea. I asked my governor Pritzker if he was willing to use Illinois militia to protect Illinois residents from ICE, and the Trump administration and I got a form letter back. Yada, yada, yada. Will be asking this a lot.

There’s a Republican guy in CA running as a Democrat, and this schmuck LIKES the idea of creating Auschwitz-like camps for the unemployed! Let’s make him unemployed!

rlritt's avatar

There is Romero who was a Democrat but is running as a Republican for lieutenant governor. She said the Democrats don't support working families and education reform. And Republucans do? What kind of reform,? Adding biblical studies to grade school curriculum and dropping science? And I've never known Republicans to care about working families.

A.J. Madison's avatar

Oh, beloved Ronnie Reagan loved working class families so much, he shipped all the high paying factory jobs overseas to the Pac Rim, to companies that pay slave wages. He loved the working class so much he made the single income family a rarity, with only the useless rich able to afford one income households. He loved the working class so much, that he put the burden of paying taxes on them plus the middle class, while the upper classes got tax breaks or lax enforcement on their returns. Shrub then took an axe to public education, because only the well educated voted for Dems. NCLB became all children left behind. And now we have Kaiser Shit-in-pants who has a literal army chasing after the hardest working classes in America. Wonder why groceries are so high? Shit-in-pants. Wonder why our economy is in the toilet. Shit-in-pants. There is a straight line from Nixon to Shit-in-pants in the increase in criminality and corruption from 1968 to today.

PTW's avatar

SethTriggs's avatar

That is interesting they wear the "POLICE/ICE" jackets as their only remit is immigration law, and they're not actual police. But I guess this is the space we're in with this low-rent SA that's trying to see if it can actually get away with murdering U.S. citizens without review.

Maybe they might try murdering a Black person next, we'll see.

Glad to see people resisting and getting in their faces. And yes they should have no jurisdiction on U.S. citizens. Nevertheless, remember that this maladministration has been disappearing people. And be careful in your tactics when you do resist.

Mary Hall's avatar

I always thought it was illegal to impersonate a police officer. Shows what I know.

Lisa Bieber's avatar

It is illegal but they wear tactical vests that say police because they are liars and cowards who are trying to hide their true identities.

Carol C's avatar

Would the test case be murdering a white Evangelical mother and widow who did not have an outspoken wife on the scene? Renee Good met almost all of those criteria for the majority of public sympathy.

Carol JLH's avatar

I'll bet ICE is happy to wear jackets saying "POLICE/ICE" but pretty sure POLICE don't want to wear them.

rlritt's avatar

Sadly, if Renee Good had been black or Hispanic, the outcry would not have been as great.

Ellen McKenzie's avatar

Oh, I hope you are wrong about this. 😢

Christine Zepka's avatar

They already murdered a black man on New Year’s Eve. I believe his name was Keith Porter, Jr.

SethTriggs's avatar

I did not know this. How awful!

Bob's avatar

They’re sworn officers. Police is a misnomer, but they have police powers like city cops.

Mary Hall's avatar

No, they really don't. They cannot arrest US citizens.

Sharon C Storm's avatar

They cannot do traffic stops unless the vehicle is know to have one of their targets inside. They cannot tell a citizen to get out of their vehicle either.

Bob's avatar

Neither can other police unless they have a reasonable suspicion a crime has been committed.

Bob's avatar

Good point, but they have some police powers. If they witnessed a shooting and detained a suspect, I doubt a defendant would get very far by arguing they were not committing an immigration offense.

The important phrase here is “sworn officer.” They took an oath, can carry a gun and execute warrants. CBP has somewhat broader powers, but not by much. But Border Patrol agents were the more aggressive agents when they were in the Chicago area.

I doubt Noem thinks those limits matter given what she thought habeas corpus means.

Charles Austin's avatar

It's not their jurisdiction.

Bob's avatar

What’s not? I never said they had the same powers as FBI or local authorities.

Regardless of the limitations on paper, they are doing whatever the fuck they want.

Robert Eckert's avatar

We do need to emphasize that they are committing crimes when they do (including impersonation).

Kristy Kanen's avatar

They're AGENTS of KRASNOV

SethTriggs's avatar

No, only for immigration law. They do have to have warrants and there are other limits. And they cannot actually take action against U.S. citizens.

Robert Eckert's avatar

THEY DO NOT. It is illegal for them to be falsely claiming police powers.

Bob's avatar

Based on what? They are sworn officers, with guns, who have arrest powers, albeit more limited than a beat cop.

If you assault one, they can arrest you. But under the Trump junta, protest of almost any kind is impeding, so they pepper spray and tear gas people when they feel like it. Their methods of detaining people, be they one of the few dangerous criminals or a female farm laborer are purposely brutal. That’s where they exceed their authority.

Robert Eckert's avatar

The "POLICE" sticker conveys that they have the exact same authority as beat cops. It is a dishonest impersonation.

Marla's avatar

Nope.

These goons are not law enforcement and have no police powers. Their entire remit is immigration. They're not empowered to do traffic stops, for example.

Bob's avatar
Jan 14Edited

They have limited police powers, but it’s not none. You want say they are not law enforcement just because the powers are limited.

They can’t enter private property unless they have a criminal warrant, which they almost never do.

Read that fund-raisers for anyone's legal defense (in assault or other violent crime) were against their terms of service. Supposedly, the board is looking into the complaint. Not sure if it matters whether Ross has officially been charged with a crime, though.

Yes, they are deranged creeps and get off on doing cruelty. That want to control through fear.

Heather Patrick's avatar

Outstanding article, Jeff! I love all of the profanity directed at that MFer Bovino, and the rising resistance against this police state. I hate them all 🤬

Laura Lund's avatar

Hey Target! Stop letting fucking Nazis use your bathroom! For free—doesn’t look like they bothered to buy anything in your store. Time to ramp up the Target boycott???

Susan Niemann's avatar

I havent been in a Target since they bent the knee the first time. 🙄 Wont go back!!

Stephanie Lajeskie's avatar

Neither have I. For me, they’ve gone the way of Hobby Lobby.

Janet's avatar

Yes, good old Snobby Lobby as I refer to it

Bob's avatar

They haven’t bought looted artifacts on the black market, but they are weak-willed hypocrites.

Susan Niemann's avatar

👏👏👏👏👏

Susie's avatar

Me neither - and I will admit that it has been hard. I was fully addicted to the ease of Target. But it’s worth it. 💯

Kristy Kanen's avatar

I used to like the MOSSIMO line , @ Target, good designs ,well made, but since the college entrance scandal

He's out. I haven't shopped there since they removed all the PRIDE items

Susie's avatar

Yep. Dropping of the DEI initiatives meant I dropped them. Those pussies! 🤬 And it’s working! They are hurting and I love it!!! ✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻

New CEO coming in February, after all the profit loss, stock dumping, and layoffs. Will be interesting to see if he continues with the same business plan, but they'll never get my business again.

cablecargal's avatar

Absolutely no Target shopping!

Costco, as a corporation, doesn't publicly support Republicans; however, its recent decision to uphold DEI policies in the face of conservative pressure indicates a resistance to certain Republican-backed agendas, showing a difference between the company's official neutrality and its actions on specific social issues.

Stephanie Lajeskie's avatar

Oh please don’t make me give up Costco! That might be a bridge too far! 😂

Stranger Than Friction's avatar

Nope. They're "Costco For Good." (IYKYK)

Robert Eckert's avatar

You're misreading, apparently. Costco is UPHOLDING their DEI policies, DEFYING the Republicans.

Charles Austin's avatar

They retain employees because they provide excellent pay and benefits.

Kristy Kanen's avatar

I won't PAY to shop anywhere.

Dave Drell's avatar

Cause you don’t need anything Kristy!

Kristy Kanen's avatar

True. I am but a whisp of a woman.

Kristy Kanen's avatar

True. I am but a whisp of a woman.

Stephanie Lajeskie's avatar

It’s worth it, just for the gas.

arne link's avatar

That's pretty much all that I use it for.

Ole Anderson's avatar

Surprised they didn’t handcuff some poor shelf stocker on the way out the door for being Hispanic.

Kind of a gratuity to Target for the use of their facilities

Tess's avatar

Hell yes Sheriff Bilal! More of this please! And as much as I might like listening to the Target clip…it was quite the read!! Great report Jeff!

Paula Dean's avatar

I'm glad I didn't have to hear it. I'm nauseous enough reading it! The Nazi midget clearly needs to expand his vocabulary...I'd offer him a thesaurus, but he couldn't read it.

Stranger Than Friction's avatar

Speaking of short nazi's, I liked how Evan Hurst over at Wonkette said this about Greggy Bovino:

'And here is Greg Bovino — hopefully after his poopy! — telling Hannity last night that “90 percent” of people actually really love him and ICE, which sounds like one of those things he tells himself in front of the mirror when he’s trying to speak being 5’9” into existence.'

Susan Keefer's avatar

Watching Bovino the head of the Gestapo get humiliated was SO GOOD that I had to watch it a couple times. 🥰

Patrick Daniels aka Cromulent1's avatar

He’s definitely a target of ridicule in these cities Susan… his trial at The Hague will be well deserved!

Susan Keefer's avatar

Can’t wait, but in the meantime, I hope Bovino doesn’t ratchet up the cruelty.

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

Bovino reminds me of Sean Penn's character (Colonel Steven J. Lockjaw, so well played!) in "One Battle After Another." Should have won an award!

Dave Drell's avatar

I could do without the “boner” scene in that movie.

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

It's a rough story that both left and right wingers hated. But the Lockjaw character was gold.

Dave Drell's avatar

What is my cat doing in your icon picture? Exact same!

Sharon Hudnall's avatar

These crazy tuxedo cats get around!

Charles Austin's avatar

Haven't seen it yet.

Canadian here: It seems to me that there was 100% participation in running the ICE goons out of town. That was fun to watch. I particularly enjoyed the marching band drowning out the republican chorus. More of that please.
