Another night's sleep totally destroyed by the media announcement at 9:00 pm that Trump had deployed 2,000 National Guardsmen against, what, 60 protestors in LA? And he's ordered Marines (excuse me, "war fighters") at Camp Pendleton to stand back and stand by, in case the NG isn't enough to quell immigrants' supporters outrage in LA's garment district. There will be hundreds of protestors in DC this Saturday, and the army will already be there, marching its mindless ass off. So, I agree that martial law is forecast for this coming weekend.

Jeff, being a girl who had been raised in the South until 18 years old and getting the hell outta Dodge, I absolutely cackled when I read your name for John Kennedy as Mushmouth McYokel! He just turns that fake accent on whenever he gets a chance. He thinks he’s the quisling equal of the McTurtleneck. Homan or Whoreman has declared that Mayor Bass and Gov. Newsom will feel his wrath “should they stand in the way for his ICE agents”. They start the chaos with peaceful demonstrators with their “agents” appearing in full regalia. The protestors never moved away. Even when these bastards threw tear gas. You think an area like Compton isn’t prepared?? People knew exactly as to what to do…they stayed. In Indivisible Abroad they recommend wearing covid type masks if one does not want to be accessible to facial recognition software. For me the concern, is that my hair is really recognizable. Borrowed from a comment in the NY Times:

"According to DHS data, in the five-county Los Angeles area ICE, under the Biden Administration, made nearly thirty-eight thousand arrests and detentions in 2024.

Few, if any, resulted in conflict or protests. ICE followed Secretary Mayorcas' policy ("Guidelines for the Enforcement of Civil Immigration Law," September 30th, 2021) and used low-profile tactics to conduct enforcement and removal operations.

What changed? The top one percent of the Republican Party- billionaires, financiers, real estate developers and CEOs- could care less about illegal immigration; they want a lower capital gains tax rate and less regulation and enforcement. But, the MAGA voters, ninety-eight percent of the party, provide the votes the one percent needs to stay in power: no MAGA support, no tax cuts.

The MAGA base hates non-white immigrants and religiously believes they pose an existential threat to "their America," and, in exchange for letting the Republican one-percent do what it wants, demands that this party elite use the power of the US Government to literally "Put the boots" to immigrants, illegal or not.

So, Los Angeles-area ICE agents dumped their low-key, rules-and-procedure based posture for disproportionate and militant tactics designed to inflame tensions in a region where immigrants, legal and illegal, are inextricably enmeshed in society, all to please their MAGA base and give them the cruelty they demand."

Walt. Seriously. Do citizens not have any responsibility to learn some history and open their damned eyes? I can't comprehend why voters need a clear message from the Democrats, when red state legislatures have been leaning and moving this direction for decades. I'm sorry, but Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, etc. have taken over more minds than most of us would care to admit. Everyone I know who is "trying to survive in these difficult times" still spend hours every single day being entertained by their cell phone. The Dem party is just not entertaining enough for folks, unless they're the subject of ridicule and blame... which seems to be preferable to actually turning your phone off long enough to get to the polls. Yeah, tough times, so let's blame the party, the candidates, the boomers or all of the above. doG forbid we should do anything more than whine and make excuses on social media. 🙄 (And yes, I know that some do a LOT to participate in our democracy, but most don't.)

America, despite its’ many struggles in the past, always seemed determined to do the right thing, eventually. I don’t know how that happens in the current environment. I don't understand the utter naivety of anyone that isn't white and born here that ever thought he was a good choice for their community. And no, because you voted for him, you don't deserve what he is doing. But actions have consequences and I don't want to hear from his voters about how awful they realize he is now. We know who he is. He doesn’t make an exception that he loves Cubans, but hates Venezuelans. That’s not how white racists think. They lump everyone in the same boat. Maybe that’s part of the problem. Because they don’t think like white racists and don’t hear the comments that white people make to each other, that they think that it pertains to that “other” minority group. AFAIK,the National Guard is still 100 miles away from LA. They haven't invaded anything.

The Chief of LAPD slow-rolled their response, blaming the delay on LA's notorious traffic.

Meanwhile, Pee Wee German is so upset that the Space Nazi has stolen his woman and pantsed him in front of the whole country, that his shrieking has risen to decibel level not in human audio range.

I agree there will be bloodshed at some point. And the point is getting closer and closer. At my age I'm happy to be among the martyrs for America. But I'm not willing that young people should have to be. But put pissed-off citizens trying to protest peacefully into the city streets, add a bunch of armed soldiers to the mix and you have one giant potential massacre waiting to happen. People are going to die. JMO

Yes, federal agents apparently fired pepper spray or some "irritant" (as they said) into the crowd protesting ICE in LA, which made it hard for police to know what was going on since they were apparently affected by the "irritants," too. But people were protesting the ugly ICE raids, not fighting from anything I've seen. Some trash cans were set on fire, but it was not the "lawlessness" the Trump admin said it was. Protest is still legal, despite Trump's false claims that it is "illegal" for protestors to wear masks.

And I saw videos looked like ICE or other agents also threw flash-bang grenades and fired projectiles into the crowd at the Paramount shopping mall where Home Depot was located...If there was 'violence,' it looked like it was on the side of ICE.

I’ve been thinking about the national guard in LA too. So these are my suggestions and wondering what you think:

1- the protesters should walk away every time the Guard shows up and when they leave show up again. This will get tedious for the Guard.

2- the governor and mayor should go full on confrontation and take their local LE and march w the protestors. Protect them, align w them and get out of the comfort zone and stand w them.

But I can't see for the love of me what Carney can do to convince the Canadian public to start buying American products or visiting America again. Shit for brains Trump, royally fucked up picking an argument with Mark Carney and the Canadians.
